I am going to be starting to model some things to use in a Super Mario Film. if anyone wants to join in, just tell me. I would love some extra help. The only thing I really have trouble with are characters thats a bad thing to be bad at So. I will be posting what I make here over the course of the next few months I think.

Hello all, As some of you know I have been working on a facial motion tracking program. At this moment most of it works and I'm doing some tests. So, here is my first satisfying experiment: test 01 (Don't be scared, I'm just making faces for test purposes only ) It still needs some more tweaking, but I'm very happy with the results for now. Btw, the MoCap is done with just one regular DV camcorder. Some others from the A:M community will also do some tests with it soon, they can post their results here too if they like. I'll keep you guys posted about the progress. I think I'm getting close to a version that's ready for release.

ZBrush 2 has arrived and AM has gone through so major alterations so I'm re documenting my AM to ZB and back pipeline. I've received a lot of queries about this so I thought I'd document it here. I'm going to check all of the asumptions I made when I originally mapped out the process a year and a half ago. 5 point patches are not particularly well handled in the obj exporter of the current version. I used to go back to version 8.5(which has a great obj exporter) but this afternoon I had an epiphany. By exporting to AVA and reimporting the model AM will maintain UV's while creating two 4 point patches wherever there are 5 point patches. You can then export the AVA bas…

Anyway, the project is to model the beautiful WWII cruiser KM Bismarck. I hope that I manage to keep an certain amount of details, but as you probably guess, this model is going to get an huge amount of patches. as it is now I have approximately 171K of them.... This topic will contain the modeling efforts of T-Dogg and oakchas on an old style Batmobile. Basis for the project: T-Dogg is new to A:M, having learned some 3D in another (ecch! polygons) program. oakchas has used A:M off and on for years, but is trying to rebuild his skills. I'm working on a new project, a music video for a song called "Cicak" by an American musician in Singapore. this is just a quick animation test using Squetchy Sam and a snippet of the song to warm up my animating skills. Hello friends So I have finally started a personal project I have wanted to do for a very long time. It has been put on hold several times due to lack of reference. The model I'm working on is Nidaros Cathedral (Nidarosdomen), which is an very beautiful cathedral in downtown Trondheim (20min bus travel from my home). I have just started modeling the west front. Even at this point I have no clue on how much work I have taken upon But I love every part of the process from Wikipedia from Wikipedia updated 10.09.10 updated 01.28.10

But I'm finally getting off my bum and getting onto my next short, "Stolen Child", and thought I'd create a WIP. Story: A classic Celtic fairy tale. Here is an animation test for the Giant character from my short film "Big Bang". I decided to go ahead and animate and actual shot from the film to kill multiple birds with fewer stones. Critiques are always welcome. Caveats: lighting, texturing and background are temp. There are some outstanding deformation problems in the model, most noteably in the upper arms and wrists, that I haven't figured out how to solve yet. This film may not be finished before AM 25.1 ships. Next I'll be experimenting with lighting, rendering and compositing techniques on this shot to figure out the final look of the film. A friend of mine and I have been wanting to re-create the battle of Wolf 359 in 3D format for quite some time now. Character was inspired by a cat we met over thanksgiving. Poor domestic long hair kitty had been given a lion cut by his owner. Was pretty funny. I also wanted a new character to build, learn from...was getting tired of stealing from others. Have to finish rigging, weighting, texturing, yada yada. Not happy with my IK legs. Well, after many tests and experiments, it's time to consolidate my WIPs into a single thread and begin plowing forward. The two-minute short I'm working on is a single scene from a feature-length screenplay (called Ebon) I finished a little over a year ago. I have a couple weeks in front of me with a lot of available time so I decided to resurect an old (year 2000) model I had started but got diverted with skylights and never finished. Here comes the new revised edition. The head is completely new with v11 hair. The body is considerably reworked with about half less splines and smoother musculature. The anatomy, although quite exagerated, is more believable too. I am currently reworking the hands. Next, the arms need rework then dressing and eventuelly, I'm ready for rigging. C&C are welcome.

Hey All, This was a project that I was going to enter into the Mechanical Image Contest (long gone) but was unable to complete on time. Well, I've now decided to drop the project because I don't have enough time to complete it. Well, since I posted my Spider-man pic for the Image contest awhile back: Old Spider-Man Pic I got comments that my proportions were all off. Well, they were right on the money there. I never realized that I suck when it comes to making well proportioned humaniods. I decided to break out my old Poser program and make some rotos of a human male (front, side and back). If anyone would want these, I could zip them up and post them here. I brought them into A:M, and modeled according to the size and shape of the rotos. This is a little animation I did to test the facial rig on my Giant character for my short film "Big Bang". The rig is a mishmash of fan-bones, weighted CPs and pose motion. The animation is rough and the model isn't done yet - still needs some smoothing in places and the horns aren't attached to the head yet. Mostly I was curious to see how the mouth would hold up and how much expression and directionality I could get out of the dot eyes. I had to put down the mouth and eyeball creatures for a little and work on this project. It's a new creature for a possible small budget feature length movie. Hello forumites! We finally fully (hell, is there something like "fully"?!) explored the possibilities of A:Ms import/export capabilities, and combined the essential and unique A:M features with other packages, especially for rendering purposes. Here are our latest commercials. Note that all Characters have been modeled, rigged and animated in A:M, whilst being rendered in either Modo or Mental ray. I've been spending my lock-down time giving my steam locomotive something to pull. I'll use this topic to display all of my railroad cars as they're rolled out of the factory. Since showcasing my renders on a personal web site is so 20th century I've decided to make the plunge to Instagram. Hey community peers, I am excited to announce that I have officially finished a video that showcases my rudimentary A:M skills! I have, in the past, been pretty good at doing green screen/chroma key type stuff here at home but then I bought A:M and used this video I was already working as an inspiration for learning and applying some of the basic techniques from the Art of A:M and technical manuals. I like the contests that we have on here, although I myself have never particapated, I do enjoy seeing what the members around here come up with. Very inspiring!!! So I'm wondering how many people would be interested in having a contest each month? Strictly animation though. No stills or anything like that. Here is the latest installment of my tree growth animation project. I haven't been able to put much time into it in the last couple of months, being too busy with my "real" job. Once I get the whole thing built, textured, and animated, I want to put it in the context of a vacant lot in the middle of a city-scape. Oh, to fly as an eagle, among the clouds... From the Royal Council of Matt-Cambell-Said-It-Couldn't-Be-Done: CloudsFlythruB.mp4 These are sprite particle clouds. There is a tiny bit of a "popping" problem that can probably be solved with some R&D. (john's suggestion to turn off the sprite emitter fixes most of it) I think the potential for effective cloudscapes in A:M is there.
