Hello everyone. Someone in HASH community chat asked me about a constraint system to allow both suspension and steering for an automotive project. I'm sorry but Hash Chat went down for me and I lost the connection. And I'm embarrassed to admit that I didn't really pay attention as to who it was that was asking. Anyhow, here is the project if anyone might need something like this. Zipped Project (bones only) Hope this helps someone

Four legged critters are very hard to rig, even harder to animate. I've always been a fan of The Last Unicorn so I decided to model and rig The Red Bull. Here are my results thus far.....

Here's a quick screenshot of the lipsync interface I just finished. It's modeled after Jason Osipa's "Stop Staring" book, and uses the example of William Young's project file at this link: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showt...&hl=osipa's Each null visible on the right controls anywhere from 2-4 pose sliders. The individual right and left poses are still controlled via the pose slider window. After some texturing and lighting adjustments I'll be starting the lipsync project. Comments and suggestions welcome.

http://amfilms.hash.com/search/entry.php?entry=754 HI EVERYONE! Ken helped me post an animation I made last year for Chrysler's Auto Show AV support. I really like the way that AM Films is coming along. I work for a video post-production house in Detroit, so we do LOTS of automotive and nuts and bolts stuff. Every once in a while someone will want some cool character stuff instead of charts and graphs. A:M has been an incredible addition to my graphics capabilities and has elavated my portfolio and workload. This video (Jeep TREO Unveilling) was used to build anticipation for the 'magic moment' when a tarp is whisked off of a car at an autoshow. After th…

Started fooling around with building heads. Nothing much to brag about yet, but this little guy happened yesterday afternoon. A bit lumpy, but maybe I can get the mouth to work. So I biult the body. The hands will follow tonight. s'Got a vaguely Irish look to him. What should I call him, Ken?

I've had A.M. now for 3 weeks. Watching and reading tutorials here at the forums as helped me to better understand spline/patch modeling. Thanks all! I come from box polygon modeling before getting A.M. The biggest lesson I learned so far is spline continuity. Then the limited but usefull use of 5 point patches (knowing when to use them or not) and hooks. I still have got lots to learn but here is the wip so far. The creature is not tweaked on his anatomy, no reference used, just started at the feet and worked up from there to help learn spline modeling. Oh yeah, no head yet LOL.

This is an entry for the most recent Animation Showdown at digitalrendering.com. As before, all animation was done in four hours. The topic, quoted from the forum moderator: "By any means necessary" became the basis for my joke. In this case, I wanted to test a new light rig, so I also (after the deadline) added an island, some not very convincing water, and a palm tree which managed to cast shadows in precisely the wrong place. The animation is unchanged, though. Tons of work would need to be done to make this worth watching, but it's in Showcase because, well, I'm not going to work on it anymore. Et voila: http://www.hash.com/users/zac…

I was cleaning off the ole hard drive and found this pic of a Dodge Viper I built in 8.5, this was a real pain in the neck because 8.5 didn't have the "maintain curvature" feature, I would have liked to have had that on certain parts of of this sucker

NOTE: I originally posted this on page 3 of the "My first spline head" thread, but now think that may doom it to obscurity .... so here it is by itself. Please take a look at this 10 second (2.6Mb - QT Sorenson 3) lipsync clip and fire away with suggestions. It's definitely time for some objective input! Lighting and textures were not my main focus here. I just wanted to try my hand at lipsync first, test my rig, and learn the interface. http://www.scc.net/~mbs/lipsynctest16.mov Also, I'd like to compress this further to get below the 1Mb file size limit so I can post it on this forum and not on a separate web page. What's the best format to use?

I am trying to get all the Halo charactors, weapons, and the blood gulch level for AM. Right now I have the Master Chief MDL from Halo and Halo 2, I can't find out how to extract the models from the PC halo. I do have a lot of .max file which are halo 3D model for a diffrent program (I think 3D max studio) but am unable to import them even as a prop. Dose anyone have charactors and/or weapons already made in AM or know How I can extract them from the PC halo or even tell me if I can open .max files into AM. Thanks JF

This image is HOT off the renderer. (3X3 multipass...16 min) Dont touch it or the colors will smear. I have all the bodies modelled except for Micks...rigged Charlie (TSM2...quick...but still having finger troubles) and 'borrowed' and 'modified' the drumset off of Hash.com free models (thanks...somebody, nice kit!) and am now testing a drumming action. I am glad to see there is a new topic 'reusable motions' I can stand to learn a thing or two... I'll post the test movie Monday.

Vern mentioned he had considered modelling a steam powered computer. This isn't such a thing but what is it? It's obviously not finished but I am in the process of creating it for the 'Haunted House' film. I don't want to spend too much time on it because it was only written into the script for one gag!

Hello Everyone, I've been working this animation for the Villikon Chronicles (www.villikonchronicles.com). I have posted the progress of the main female character Mysterre. The texturing will come soon. You can visit my web page to see other artwork and other progress.GraphicAnime Site: VillikonChronicles Project Another thing. If anyone knows about a 3rd party program that imports OBJ or 3DS models into Animation Master well, please let me know. I had someone send me a sentinal model that was done in Maya. He gave me the OBJ model. When I imported it into AM the splines of the model became very jagged and pointy.

After a lot of projects for other creators, I really wanted to focus on something of my own. It's a story entitled: hunted Check out my site: HUNTED | CONCEPTS web page Now, there isn't much there yet (Only two links have anything in them) and there isn't much 3D in there yet, and any 3D right now (real simple blocks) is Cinema 4D. Don't fret, the final image will be created in A:M, and I could've done these simple 3D scenes in A:M. I actually just used C4D because I was helping another artist who was using C4D at the time. Can't wait to get into A:M and get started on the first final concept art piece, "The Gestation Chamber". …

I've seen a few Lego models made with A:M earlier, and since I played with Lego all the time as a kid I wanted to model a Lego model myself. Yet again I went to a toy store and bought a toy. I must say that I don't like all the new special bricks they make now, I miss the good old Lego. Anyway, I went for a truck (with a push_forward_engine), and after a few days here is the result: I've made every single brick (with bevels everywhere), even the bricks not visible, no cheating, cause I wanted to test the Newton plug-in on this one. Unfortunately I have had no luck with the plug-in yet, need to experiment some more. I've attached two renders, one standard AO with a li…

I have been experimenting with some of the game models available at http://thefree3dmodels.com. There are over 1,000 models there, most are in OBJ and 3DS format. The site is free and the models download pretty fast. Because many of these models were used in the game industry, they are set up to be efficient in terms of detail. They are much smaller than the usual file sizes for these formats. It is interesting to see how they were put together to maximize the ease of use and texturing processes. The included textures alone are worth examining the models. I got interested in one of the face models because of its simplicity and the way it takes decals without to…

Settings Tried: Render to TGA and then to .mov Buffers: Alpha=on and tried off Shadows on Render Options: Quality Final Shadows on then tried off Everything else off Nothing in Alpha buffer or RGB channels I opened the TGA in PhotoShop CS3 and the .mov in After Effects 6.5. I'm using AM V14c Am I missing something? Thanks, Rusty

Hey... I am new to the A:M and to 3D animation in general. One of the places that I was recommended to spend some time was Renderosity.com. When I went there, I found almost no one that used A:M. There is only one picture created with A:M there. Because I didn't know a lot about 3D, I pretty much ignored A:M until I finally figured it was worth exploring anyway (I ended up buying both Shade LE and Poser 5 as animation tools before looking into A:M). Anyway, I was hoping that some of you would sign up at Renderosity (http://www.renderosity.com/) and put some of your stills up there. It might help people like me to see the value of A:M and give it a chance early on. …

Project : Zero (link) So, early in 2005 I started this project and never really got around to telling anyone about it (I don't think). This is going to be a thread to keep all the A:M crowd updated as this project is revealed. Once the animation part is completed (hopefully this year) I'll post to the showcase, and of course add it to my site. Let me know what you think as I cruise along. Talk to you later. [attachmentid=12950] ps. Well! The attachment options have changed as well. Hmmmm....I like (thanks Martin).

I love A:M and this forum. I check it for new posts more often than I check my email, and I check my email several times a day. I've been slowly making images for my website upgrade and learning about materials a bit. Because I plan on using the "Christie" font throughout my website, and want to have the lettering look a little more "3d" I modeled the Alphabet which has taken me some time. But it has helped me gain a higher "spline consciousness". I'm very much looking forward to the time when I get caught up enough with my "day job" projects to actually try my hand at animating something. Here are a couple of the images I've come up with for the site. There…

Hey, I just wanted to say that I was a little to hasty when I got all sore about the forum a few weeks ago. Yesterday I used A:M for the first time in like 2 months, anyways, I noticed that it sparked my artistic side, and I did a lot better in my art classes. Sorry for the way I reacted two weeks ago, anyways, I hope you enjoy this simple render of 3 spheres. The ground for the first one is White with 200% diffuse and 100% reflectivity. The 3 spheres are 75% transparent and 100% reflective. This one was rendered at 1000wide 900high The ground for the second one is Black with 100% reflectivity, and the spheres are the same attributes as the first. Thi…

Hello everyone, I reworked my May 07 "Toon" Image contest entry and am posting it here for your review. I made a few changes in Photoshop and I prefer this version over my contest entry. The model is my own original design of a transforming Fighter Plane/ Robot that is part of a short personal animation project that I am working on. The model is designed so that I don't need to swap models when I am transforming in in a shot. It is rigged and ready to go. The mech in the image is one of the mecha designs that will be in the short. This model is pretty much done but I have a few more minor details to work on on this model (so it is still a …

Attached is a night time fly by of an Apache Longbow helicopter. It is the first time I have used the Quicktime format for animation, so I have several things I am concerned about. (1) Does it play ok? (sound, etc.), (2) It is a compromise between showing enough detail of the model vs. the night time environment. So does it seem to look fairly realistic? and (3) Every animator's request, do you see anything to improve it?Apache1.mov

Some of you might remember this guy. After hearing Shaun Freeman talk about face rigs and facial animation the other night I realized there was no way given the layout of my models beak it would work...so I redid the beak and surrounding mesh. I still don't know if it will work but I think now at least it will have a better shot. I also redid the decal and applied porcelin. 1st time using porcelin and all I can say is I like it alot. Anyways let me know what you think.
