Our new film has been off to a slow start.. mainly beacuse iv been having a lot of problems with it lol. so after some large problems I decided to take the long weekend off. (including yesterday) but I didn't want to stop modeling cuz i love it so I decided to make some lego.. mainly because its easy, fun, and I just recently watched leo's "Beatles: A tribute" I went with the Rebel snowspeeder, because it was the only lego thing I had still standing lol only took me 1 day to make all the pieces and four hours today to build it. Here it is so far.. love to here what u think

Coming into the last of animating the fish. This one [the big guy who eats everything] needs to have his mouth VERY wide open at the last instant. I have three seperate actions that move him. In each, his mouth moves a little. But when I go into Skeletal Mode at the very last, and drag his jaw down, that seems to over-ride all mouth action in all the actions. [ Everything else, like Fins and Tail were OK.] Fortunately, I could do an un-do and not much harm was done. But for the future, does any adjustment in the Choreography/Skeletal trump any Action?

Hi! Been a while since Ive done anything major in A:M. So I wanted to once again expand my modeling skills. So to do that I decided I want to model my camera (At least my digital one ). My camera is a Canon Rebel XT. The lens I will model with it will probably be my Sigma 15-30mm F/3.5-5.6, which is a big lens. Eventually I want to model all my camera gear (Film cameras, all my lens, flashes, tripod, etc). I just started the process, the model is in its very rough stages right now: I will post an AO render when there is enough to look good Photoman

Since I am on the topic at the other thread, I'll show an example of faking geometry with images on 4 cp plane. Low patch but high quality at a glance which otherwise stiff looking wood stick.

Here is the next piece in my development of the facial puppeting system. The goal was to begin exploring the performance possibilities. I gotta say I think it went quite well. Let me know what you think. (Sorry about the big file, best I could do) spystory.mov edit: here's a zip with a DivX avi in it, this looks and sounds better spystory.zip

I started this character a month or so ago but quit working on him when I bought a G5. It seems AM and OS X 10.3 have a conflict that prevents me from rendering in a window. Maybe I had multipass off... that caused issues a while ago. Whatever, I started working on him again the other day and gave him a hand, arm and hair. The hair is controlled by a decal (which needs some refining) and I should model him a proper ear and shoes. There's about 10 minutes of work in the hair so I'll at least post some more images as that part comes along.

So...I made a new sword. All comments are welcome- Robert P.S. does anyone know how to get something like this to stay in the hand of a character when animating. Some kind of constraint maybe...? Thanks!

This weeks opus for the four-hour animation showdown. The topic was "juggling." I've re-rendered it here for motion blur and an extra bounce at the end. And mood music. See it on my showdown page - QT Sorenson3 181KB

I need some help on a few things. First~~ The control system of this short range light fighter. I have two extended panels for interment panels or tech readouts but I'm not sure of how to have steering controls mostly what type. Second~~ My material creation still sucks and I was hoping that some one had a material or a quick tutorial on a good space ship hull material. Third~~ Well...I thing overall the design is good but some second opinions would be good

Hello, all. I'm in the early stages of modeling a set for a short piece I'm working on, but I'm getting some strange artifacts that I can't seem to shake. I based my volumetric settings on this thread ( http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3994 ), but I don't seem to be getting the same quality of render. Number one issue is the sharp diagonal banding on the light shaft. I've set my klieg width to zero, as instructed, but no dice. It's not the "quality" setting in the volumetrics, either--even at 99999%, the banding is as sharp as ever. Number two is the missing shadows behind the urinal pipes. What happened to them? Is it because of the Z-bu…

Hello Been such a LONG time since I've had time to work in 3d and post here..but here I go again. I've put a hold on my bunny character (snowball, dont know if you remember her) and began this new character for a small client. Instead of my normal 2D work I've been asked to create a nice little mascot for a logo in 3d for possible animated introduction and stills. This is my progression so far after about 2 -3 hours work. I'd love to hear some critiques in terms of my spline placement or anything else... The character is to be a stylized mouse, slightly cartoonish, and realistic blend. I plan on adding fur to him later. Thanks

Hi all, Does some of you have a model of the Starsky and Hutch Ford Gran Torino maybe , that he could share? Else maybe I could use an obj from turbosquid or similar and import as prop. Guess I would have to exchange the tires in order to rigg some suspension then. I want to experiment to pose it toonshaded for stills for some comicpages..... Thanks for some help and advise...

In late-July, I had the honor to speak on presentation design at the Answers in Genesis (AiG) Creation College, which was a conference to train people in creation ministry and to present the Genesis messages like Ken Ham, Carl Kerby, other international speakers from AiG. My talk title was "Making Your Presentations Zing!" I taught graphic design principles, eye candy skills, dos and don'ts of design, and more as relates to presentations—digital and otherwise—for the look of high class and professionalism. I used Apple Keynote as my presentation software for its advanced multimedia technologies and awesome transitions. The globe and all silver 3D elements were modeled in …

Here is an acoustic guitar that i have started modeling and getting some of the decaling, texturing done out of the way. Once I build the neck, I am curious on how to make the strings twang when I animate it , when the strings are strummed. If anyone can shed light on the subject please let me know, I have an idea, but whethere to use dynamcis or just completely hand animate it all is gonna be a pain in the butt. I have two decals on the model, one I had for the decorative ring around the pickup, When I put the wood decal on, it put itself over it, is there any way possible in order to bring the decorative ring in front , on top ? Hey all! I'm new to modeling in Animation Master. I have tons of experience poly modeling in Max, but dealing with splines and patches is a bit new to me. Anyway, I'm currently in the process of modeling a pig for a project, but I'm having lots of creasing issues. I've gotten the hang of getting rid of most of them, but I'm not sure how to approach creases in a 5-point patch. Can anyone provide any guidance? Should I even be using 5-point patches where I'm using them? Any help would be greatly appreciated! [attachmentid=15891]

I made this a couple of days ago just to try out pose-to-pose animation for the first time. It was a kinda messy attempt, but I learned some from it and hope to use the experience in my next attempts. I'm mainly looking for suggestions/critiques but comments are always nice too. Oh, and its rather rough too... I was just trying to catch the broad motions. Thanks!, --Ross wtw3.mov

I will post more info after I start making more progress. For now this is what I get when I fool around with the sweeper plugin after 5minutes of modeling, SSS, and AO. I recommend opening this image in Photoshop and viewing at 100%. There is some fine texture like detail generated by SSS that can only be seen at full res. On a side note I got that 010 error and it took raising the values in SSS to work around it. www.hdjibguy.com

Hello - for those of you that are tired of my dental animation... sorry. ;-) This one is actually pretty cool - it is for a dentist that created a new patented "braces" application combining the 3 current brace systems. The animation starts by showing the traditional 3, then his idea of combining the three and how it would work - then possibilities of what can be done with them. I had to start completely from scratch with new teeth and gums and everything, because in parts of the anim we had to make the gums transparent to see the correction of the teeth and roots. Anyway, just a warning watch when you are not sleepy - it might just put you out. ;-) http://www.fl…

I've searched through the manuals looking for info on how to access Alpha Channels, but nobody says much more than it can be done. When I get the tanks going, I want several attack-choppers to sweep in shooting. I want motion blur on the rotors, but not in the whole scene. I figured to turn off everything in the scene, leaving only the turning blades, run the anim., then turn off the rotors, run again, and composite in Premier. But where do I go to get Alpha Channel mode?

Here's a rather simple and sort of boring little still from my new film. The only "real" thing in this image is the puppets... the rest is CG. Does it look alright to you all. I'm pretty satisfied with it. Just like to get some thoughts. (I have to go back in post and erase those nasty green halos off of my little guys) Thanks, Justin

Nothing really fancy, just blocking out some animation and figuring out lighting, textures, etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbxnOFebxWc Here a little info: Still working on V9.5, still facial capture by hand (at least for the basic blocking of the animation), very basic materials. I hate the first scene (too "noisy") second one is pretty good, third is alright, fourth I just started and very rough and final is just a test. It really all is just a test at this point. Please let me know what you think and would do differently. and here is a still render (Lent starts soon) God bless ya'll!

d78c5e599c2a9c9d0bbd Man, I think I am guilty of NOT using AMFilms the way I should be... I just gave it another look, and it is pretty sweet. This is a test to see if the video shows here in the forum. Any A:M users in the Detroit/Lower Michigan area who are sports fans (Red Wings, Tigers, Pistons) have seen this spot to DEATH... it airs SO frequently. This is MY version of it... before the editors and sound effects guys did their work on it. I had 3 days to do this :30... a :15 and :10 versions as well. I was not present on the shoot, and the little girl did a wonderful job of 'dictating' where the Tireman character should be. There was lots of challenges with i…

Hi, I'm working on a theatre set. The red curtains open. The curtains are animated using cloth simulation in A:M 13. I almost got it nailed, but not entirely. So much parameters, I'm tweaking my ass off. Each time I have to tweak, simulate, tweak, simulate... Is there anybody who knows how to make these curtains move like the real thing? I'll post my curtain-project. It has the animated curtain. Just run the cloth simulation in the chor and see how far I got it. Never mind the missing decals. Please help me make this work. Thanks!
