Hello all: decided to take a break from texturing my construction guy and work on a still i had an idea for. This is a harmonica for it, still have to figure out how to model the intricate weave top but thought I'd see what everyone thought. Any C&C welcome.

Here is a newer render of a model I've been working on. It's still not quite finished. I still need to add a couple of beams to support the wooden dummy as well as the anchors of the posts and bolts for the frame. Damn real life! It keeps getting in the way of me actually accomplishing anything. Anyhow, I need some suggestions on what I need to do to improve on it. I'm going for a realistic look, but not photo-real, if you get my meaning. Anyhow, here's the link. http://homepage.mac.com/cluelessmorgan/.Pictures/Test.jpg Also, which one looks better: The pine frame (1) or the red wood frame (2)?

Hi, I'm working on the Temple of Zeus in Olympia, Greece. The following pictures are from the West Pediment. I think I need some help with the lighting. It's supposed to be fairly realistic but I'm not sure what else to do to it. Not all the figures you see have been textured yet. I'm working on that too. Suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks.

AM to the rescue the mission complete 5 narrative animations for Dango Tango a web series for they're Halloween season the first 4 where done in another 2d program in 2009 and they needed to have certain scenes redone without changing styles and going back to 2d would have delayed the whole thing so i turned to good ole AM for the ans. the short mov shows the success of that I rebuilt the first scene and made a seamless match to the second in a matter of hours ( the cut the to bird is the 2nd scene ) other scenes where then rebuilt in a similar manner ok so it's not pixar but thats the look number 5 was all AM ( decals made in another app th…

I started this model-no rotoscopes/drawings or pictures by demonstrating to a friend how to construct an eye, then it sort of got fleshed out when I had nothing better to do. Now I cant help but feel I got something a bit wrong, but I may be too involved in his face. He seems to resemble me a lot as well.

This is a WIP for the next mastering materials volume. Thought people would be interested in seeing a face made of 95% materials. There are only 4 image maps used and 3 are for hair control. The last is for an environment map.

My original post: original bear WIP post Something just did not seem right, so I started working on a simpler "more youthful" design...see below. The animation is about a youthful, playful bear, and the original design just did'nt give me that feeling. My children like this new design better. I want to put hair/fur all over the body, so I want to keep the spline count down, hopefully will make it easier to animate. Having the arms and legs as seperate opjects cause problems with the hair/fur? Looking for some input about the overall proportions, design, etc. I guess I am inspired by Keith Lango's simple character designs. Thanks for the inspiration Keith!…

Save me! was the topic at the animation showdown on wednesday. Or character was stranded on a desert island and had to get the attention of passing ship or plane. Since then I've reworked some of the animation, and added gratuitous lighting and materials. In other words, this looks nothing like what i had going at the four hour deadline. See it on my showdownpage

I'm attaching a zip file with a sprite material, a flame targa image, a simple model and a chor. I've been working on this fire material and finally got it to look decent, when it just quit rendering! I can see the sprite outlines in wireframe mode, I can see the sprites in shaded mode, can see them in the chor in shaded mode, they spew out on cue, but they will not render. I'm stumped, I know it's a simple one. FireMaterialTest.zip

Another quick test with hair ....streaks on the left ...blobbies on the right and gravity changing its mind. Also I peaked all the vertices and got a fanfoldish result Just want to mention that even with all this happening render was much faster than before..although I did simulated the cloth with all the emiters turned off first yeahII.mov

Working or should I say goofing with the hair system and trying to come up with decent settings for a Man in a Gilly Suit ....on this attempt, the model is an altered version of the mannequin model found on the forum or is that one of the extra CD/DVD ? then I applied a camo material to most of his body. and to attempt to control the density of the hair I applied 2 decals, black on the front and white on the back ...... I don't like the way it looks yet ......attempting an animation at the moment to see how it reacts with motion....I think it may be a little limp, not enough stiffness....... Mike Cossey

http://www.happybigfun.com/Robotsrobotsrobots.html It is my intention to make a monthly five minute animated podcast (web series) featuring sentient robots at war. It will be called "Robots Robots Robots!" Right now, none of them can change forms, but at some point I'm going to try to make a robot that can transform. I won't use that term in the series cause I don't want to get sued. The plan, inspired by beast wars, is to make 8 robots, a few sets, and then continue to re-use those same models throughout the series. This will take some time to start up, but my hope is that it will only take a month to make each episode once all the models are made and I'm only …

Some of you may have seen my last posting about modeling the New Horizions Pluto spacecraft. Well here we go with another. I have completed the new Mercury Messenger Spacecraft due to launch this year. I know the model is not textured or detailed, but my client is pleased with the results. I have converted it to 3ds, the texturing and animation will be done by others. I really love the way one models with A:M. Its fast and intuitive.

There are many instances in a model, when you could simply stick one object into another to make it look like they are one. Take, for example, a wrought iron fence, or a lever sticking out of a machine. Another good example, intersecting pipes. When would you have to join the CP's and when could you get away with the cheat?

I thought I would post this in both the showcase and the compositing forum. I've been working on some effects shots for a short film (56 minutes) Using animation master to animate smoke and shell casings. Though certainly my implementation could probably be improved on it doesn't look bad compared to the relatively dead and inactive look of the shots without any compositing. The vietnam sequence consists of a about a 60 second firefight. -Ethan [attachmentid=18455]

Just thought that I would post a link to my ball guy outside Dagoos' cool animation thread. I haven't had a chance to fool with Pesto's ball, but it looks pretty cool. I made a few updates for better knee and heel control, but there is no extra controllers for you to worry about. www.chrisolsen.org/ballman.zip I think having a little competition using simple models like this would be a good idea for a future hash animtion contest.

The prototype for this model (including the texturing) is hanging in my garage. shovel renders I toyed with the idea of simply using a photo of the blade to decal the texture but I've been forcing myself to use more complex materials because I'd like to think that dealing with the pain of tweaking procedurals, builds character. I did use colour samples from my reference photos in the materials.

Hello All, A few years back I modeled the confederate submarine the CSS Hunley (C.L. Hunley) for a Hash image contest, I think it was my first model as well....sense that time the Hunley has been raised from the depths and its actual configurations are known, so I have started a new more acurate model of the Hunley...I also plan on detailing the inside at some point. I've attached a couple images of this WIP below.....far from finished inside or out. Mike Cossey

Ok so, I'm working on a school project and I'm having some trouble. I haven't had too much experience in the choreography window. I have an action where my character is walking (and its constrained to a path). Then I want him to stop and do another action. What I've been doing is importing the other action after the first one is complete. But instead of stopping, both actions end up occuring on the same path. And instead of the first action finishing at the end of the path, it finishes in the middle. And the part where he is supposed to stop ends up taking place over the rest of the path. I tried to explain it clearly. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it…

I was just poking around today with decals and how I can use them to breath life into a character. So far, I was able to give my simple "2 patch count" ninja model about five facial expressions, it worked for his eyes so I know it'll work for his mouth phonemes although I didn't bother making them. Just curious in what some of you think about it... quickface.mov

I was messing around with radiosity again, and then ended up building the Programmer's Passage from the Matrix. Years ago I had built it once before (lost in the great computer crash of '04 of course), but without radiosity, the scene never looked right. I've searched through the manuals looking for info on how to access Alpha Channels, but nobody says much more than it can be done. When I get the tanks going, I want several attack-choppers to sweep in shooting. I want motion blur on the rotors, but not in the whole scene. I figured to turn off everything in the scene, leaving only the turning blades, run the anim., then turn off the rotors, run again, and composite in Premier. But where do I go to get Alpha Channel mode?
