This is a quick render I did. [attachmentid=19353] It's based off of this image I found on the Internet. [attachmentid=19354] I wanted to see if I could get any better quality with A:M. I should have used a larger resolution map for the Sun, but it's allright for what it is. I'll probably add a bit of Specular to the next render I do, and may move the planets closer together, but it's basically finshed here.

Based on a suggestion by Rodney! EggBot_Warp.mov Basically... -Create a new Action for your model -in the Action create a new Distortion Box -in the D Box's properties select a "target" bone that is parent to all your model's mesh -edit the CPs of the D-Box to make the squshing you want -drop the Action on your model (previously animated to move around in the chor) -the D Box will normally move with the model, so it must be constrained to a Null in the chor to hold it in one place ( a place the model will pass thru)

Well, 168 hours later (yes, 168), and this pops up on my screen. Radiosity Rendered in v11 on my P4 1.8 Ghz @ 2200 x 3000. The characters are from an IDW comic book called Popbot by Ashley Wood. All modeled in v10.5 and 11 on my G4 Powerbook, with some modeling (the cat, door in the back, the pipes) done on my old PIII 500mhz laptop. The Jpeg seems kinda washed out as I've already converted to CMYK for print, so the colors aren't as vibrant as what's on my mac, but it serves. I'll be back with some wires and some more explanation of the Radiosity setup if anyone is interested. Larger Version of the image - pjc

I thought that I'd post a little animation test I'm working on to get some feed back. It's currently very rough: I've got the main poses in, done most of the lip-sync and have tried to set most of the timing. There is'nt facial animation yet and it all still needs a fair amount of finessing..... Anyhow, I would love to get some feedback - I'm trying to build my animation muscles with this, so point out my flab! Quicktime, sorenson 3, 1.3mb Click Me!

After a long time, I came back to a project of mine , that I had left , when I run into too many difficulties. So now I did some more tests for it with very promising results, since AM or better me with AM are now capable to render even Full-HD sizes in a reasonable amount of time. I am still not sure, if I should go with a toony "Manga/Anime" style or go for a 3D look. Tending more to the later at the moment , while at the same time not wanting to do that much texturing work, I am testing procedural textures (materials) and fake rim light for gaining a "non nude" 3Dlook . critics welcome... Hey, does anyone remember my last attempt to animate a walk cycle with a cloak? No? Well, it was four months ago. Anyway, I had some concerns about the viability of the last version. Namely because it only worked when the character's arms were locked to her sides, and also because dynamics have to be recomputed every time you decide to change something. So, I went back to the drawing board. Since I wanted the cloak to swish around as the character's arms moved, I (loosely) constrained some of the bones in the cloak to the arm bones. The rest of the work involved manually animating the edges of the cloak so the hands and knees don't pass through it. The cloak as …

Steve got me thinking about approaches to tree bark and this was the result of applying a displacement map to a 9 patch grid. For bark I note that in addition to the texture, lighting has a great deal to do with emphasizing that bark's detail and hardness.

well i think its been about 5 or 7 years since i last tried at character animation. so i thought i would give it a go again when i saw this basic character model in the sharing page. last time i tried, i did a jump animation. so thought it would be good to try the same motion. i kept it pretty simple with the motions. can you who have been animating a while critique it for me and maybe give me a few pointers as to what I'm doing right or wrong. please be honest jump_test.mov Thanks

I did a texturing/UV demo for this years Siggraph tapes, using Ken Heslip's "hippogyraf" model from T.W.O. I used a combination of 3DPainter and Photoshop. Here is how the textures look so far--(I still have to paint a hair map for a bit of fur and the mane...)

Hey guys, been a looooooong time since I've posted anything. I started building this Audi model a few weeks ago. I've been taking my time with it... a little here, a little there... and wanted to see if I still "had it" when it comes to making models in A:M... turns out its just like riding a bike! I will post as I go. thanks for taking a look! Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

Well, here is the 'in progress' renders of a section of the roadway deck and of the south tower. Lots of detail to add to the top of the south tower and more for under the road deck. Also there are many MANY other lights that are designed to illuminate the towers at night, so I'll be adding those as well. This model will have the lights added. I will probably need some help with that as I'm not quite sure how Yves did his skylights with only one light and the action added it numerous times to the skydome. I'd like to do the same thing here, where all the regular street lights are copies of one 'type' of light and the spot (klieg) lights for the tower i…

Ok, I seem to have munged up the cp's by the base of the arm/ armpit a bit, but other than that things look ok. I'm pretty happy with the way that I managed to get the hand attached. I think it turned out best. All I have left to attach is the foot and the head, and now that I think I have the hang of things I may change the head slightly. [attachmentid=18354]

Even though the car is finished, I do appreciates crits both good and bad First I have a standard render of it: [attachmentid=13568] And I have an render where I basically just used the McLaren toycar scene, and I tried to achieve an toycar look of it (inspired by the real radio-controlled toy version of it: Images at the bottom of the link: [attachmentid=13569] And last I have made an little photo composition animation test. UPDATE: See the final version on page 2 of this thread Decided to re-render "Window" with real radiosity instead of the old version's manually-placed lighting. One light, sixteen passes, six hours: The only light leak I wasn't able to address was that bit under the lip of the table . . . I chalk it up to it being geometry that was modeled six years ago. Otherwise, I'm impressed. Working GI in A:M. Ain't that some chit? Thanks to Yves P. for his radiosity primer.

Hey everybody, I know I have another topic that's still out so don't get too mad Well, I'm trying to wrap up everything that I've been involved in (hence the Star Wars models frenzy) and one of the many things on the list was texturing this fantastic model. Hang on Martin, 2_08 lighting is next For me, the goal of this project was to have a set of textures that matched the great quality of the model. This meant grabbing tons of photos and layering and layering in PS. It also meant tons of unwrapping in AM--of which a little has been done. I'm going to try to push my skills as far as they go for this one and prove to the world that AM is capable of anything...a…

I've never entered one of the image contests because my AM work was usually rigging practice or the occasional live project for my day job. But I've got this online comic, Bugbots: The Mansect Rebellion! that has been back-burnered for a couple of years now. I've occasionally tried some 3D treatments but usually ran into some glitch or complication and put it aside. But I decided to try one more time to model and rig a character, and recreate a scene from the comic as a still image. So what I'm working on is a model of Croaker, the assassin bug, in a 3D recreation of the last panel of Chapter 3.

Here's something I've been working on. The model is a modified "Jungle Queen" model, modeled by Jim Talbot. The glasses were modeled Ken Citron (pixelplucker) and the boots were modeled by Eric Camden (Eric2575). Thanks guys for your contributions. Now I just need some handguns. The model was rerigged with the 2008 rig including the face. The outfit still needs weighting. The hair is A:M hair. The holster still needs work. And I hope to build a set. The things you can do with the available resources.

I put it together and uploaded the time-lapse video to YouTube Please take a look and tell me what you think Best watched in HD You might not like the color adjustments I have done to the final image, I was just experimenting, I have no knowledge when it comes to color adjustment. Hi Folks! After some time off, and some projects that we've done with other software packages, we finally did a project with A:M again. It's the return of the christmas rabbit! Here's a quicktime link: Christmas Rabbit 640 x 480 (ca.18 MB) A:M was used for all the characters, as well as the table, chairs, candles and the advent wreath. Greetings, Elm and the whole Department! P.S.: We just updated our website. Have a look in "Our Work" to watch our recent projects: http://www.soulcage-department.de

I've been off work the past couple of days with a nasty cold, so thought I would occupy my time with a bit of modelling. Started working on a Lamborghini Gallardo. Not the fastest modeller, but slowly getting there. Having a bit of trouble figuring out how to model the wheel wells without using 5 point patches at the corners (shown in red). Below is a wire frame showing what I have done so far and if anyone has any suggestions, they would be very appreciated. When I complete a 5 point patch at the wheel well, I get severe pinching, which doesn't look all that good on a smooth car body. And at some point, I hope the model will look like the images…

Hello all, I'm working on a project called .Hack//Vaccine I was wandering if anyone would like to work on it with me. I have alot of the stuff done all ready, however I wouldn't mind changing that stuff. I'll attach some of the stuff I've already done, I'm working on one of the buildings now. I plan on upgrading my A:M but I'm currently saving up. Right now I have version 10.5 that I don't think is real (was supplied by school). So I may need to buy a new one. I've got an idea for the animation I'll be doing but right away I have a question. I want to have an extremely stylized Christmas tree shape (more of a triangular spiral) growing out of the ground. Here's a simple sketch. I don't want to just scale it, I want it to corkscrew out of the ground. What's the best way to "grow" a shape like this?
