OK.. so I posted some progress on this guy a loooooooong time back, and I've been back at him for about a month now. I've actually done his head 3 times.. Its hard getting the right mix. But I think I'm on the right track now (maybe) I've also got one other body thats not near as beafy, but I like him being more hulk like. I think this ones got legs ( goat legs but those still count right?) Opinions, rips, and general constructive criticism is greatly appreciated. Ohhh and even though I love his skin.. its probably going to have to change (at least the method) this material took over 9 hours to render one frame at 16 passes [attachmentid=14239] …

I've been running an RPG off and on, but I wanted to give it a little more punch. I've had AM for a while but haven't really had a project this involved. It will be a series of shorts showing events that have happened in the game and covering some out of game background. The setting is an alternate present sci-fi, so it has some unique points at its core but it also borrows heavily from current culture. My first animation is going to be a med bay, depicting the start of the game. I've nearly finished one of the props, and I'm working on rigging a character right now. mostly for the experience since I'll have a few characters that won't be able to use a standard rig. …

It's been a long long time since I've posted any personal work - and I have now started re-fooling around (got my ver 15 back - woo hoo - me happy camper) - Here's the start of a character that I will probably use in one of the short animations I have in mind to do. The character is a modified Ork model being used in Scarecrow of Oz - designed by Alain Desroucher, modeled by Ken Heslip, rigged by Mark Skodacek, modified, textured, feathered by me. it's not finished. My intent with doing a sequence of short hopefully humorous vignettes is to develop & loosen up my animation style, and get a better grasp on short (1-5 minute) story telling via pantomime, o…

Here is a project I worked on quite a while ago that I have decided to pull off the shelf and remake with my newer technology (faster Mac and Hash for OS X) and a little (not much) more experience. The story line is being revised and I'm going to make an attempt create it as one whole piece. I'm not going for visual superiority here, I just use simple, but nice models, camera tricks (city with only a few buildings filmed from different angles and with layers...), and maybe a lower frame rate. In this presentation everything is done in Hash except for a couple backgrounds and one cut scene, which are done in Bryce. In the new version I'm going to use a combo of Hash and Li…

Hey guys. Been working on some new things with some people and trying to get 3D into the mix to give them a better understanding what i have at my disposal. so i have a question for you all. out of these 2 images which do you think blends better with the photo. this First image was rendered using only blub lights with 16 buffers. render time 4 mins this second image was rendered using IBL only. render time 6 mins so what do you all think? and is there a way to merge them better? following weeks ill be applying these to Video so it will be alot of frames.

I've needed to put a new roof on this house for years I need to rip off the old roof first and I need to be able to cover the house while I do that. The largest tarp Home Depot sells is not large enough to cover the whole roof at once so I'm using A:M and Simcloth to test out various placements and to see where likely places to tie it down will be. this is a somewhat accurate, full size approximation of my roof and a 60' x 40' tarp:

This 'Manhattan Project' I am doing for Shawn Rogers (NewGuy) is coming along really nice... I decided that to do a proper NYC you need to also model what lies across the rivers... which is Staten Island, Brooklyn, Jersey, the Bronx and the Atlantic Ocean... among others. (Bridges, Statue of Liberty, ships...) The project is for the Major League Soccer's New York Red Bulls... and next I will be modeling their stadium... so the zoom can continue right into midfield! Texturing is minimal... all is heavily stylized... just needed to capture the 'feel' of the city. I will render a high res over the holiday weekend with particle trees, reflections and shadows at 720P…

I will be creating Webisodes of each episode and they will be made with Animation Master and various other programs. I hope you enjoy and I hope to keep this updated with my latest characters.

Hi, ya all For the last three weeks I have been putting a ridiculous amount of time into my first short It's called "CLOTHESLINE" It's a romantic comedy about a sex starved desert roaming psycho I have 8 shots done, well almost done I still have to go back and fix intersections and what not (out of 10) and may add a couple more but at this point I am pretty sure I will finish, if I keep making enough coffee It will be about two minutes long, includes three characters and be rendered in version 12 to take advantage of the new composite and cloth features. oh, and its timed to Rush 2112 This is the third shot shot 3

greetings my friends after a long period of thinking about it, i´ve decided to dismiss my short movie project "the lunch encounter" (the one with the guy and the cat). for several reasons: 1. the story wasn´t strong enough. 2. my animation skills are not good enough to compensate the rather weak story. 3. it´s too long. 4. i wasn´t 100% happy with the look anymore. also i realized i suck at story writing. i really do. i´m always starting to make a movie because i just want to do a short, not because i want to tell a story. maybe some of you can relate to that. i just have fun creating characters and props and sets and doing the lighting and stuff, …

Hey, does anyone remember my last attempt to animate a walk cycle with a cloak? No? Well, it was four months ago. Anyway, I had some concerns about the viability of the last version. Namely because it only worked when the character's arms were locked to her sides, and also because dynamics have to be recomputed every time you decide to change something. So, I went back to the drawing board. Since I wanted the cloak to swish around as the character's arms moved, I (loosely) constrained some of the bones in the cloak to the arm bones. The rest of the work involved manually animating the edges of the cloak so the hands and knees don't pass through it. The cloak as …

Hello everyone, My name is Henrique and I was fascinated by all the animations that were built from the users of this site. A few months ago I created one of the pyramid hologram projectors and tested a few animations as a sample on my phone, then I showed it to the physics club at my school, but this time I made the pyramid fit for the size of a tablet, once again using some of the animations of this site. I then decided to take that further and enlarged the pyramid even more, however this time I made it fit for a 46 inch Tv screen and I created a video of our own to present it to my class during our Graduation ceremony. After receiving high positive reception f…

Just got V12.0 AM 2006 today and thought I'd see ii it feels any different than V11 2004. Modelling feels about the same but so far no gliches. I had out of memory issues with 11 so have been using 10.5. V12 appears to be a bit more comfortable although I have had no bad experiences with modelling in the earlier versions. I decided for my 1st model I would try to build my friends car. A 66 Malibu SS which I took pic's of for roto's about a year ago and also did some airbrush work on the car when he built it. Lot's of tweaking and fabricating to go as I plan to build the complete car and haven't done much mechanical modelling. I've seen some really nice car's built in this…

Well it's actually been a long time since I actually really used AM for anything (probably before Christmas actually). The projects I have been working on required other tools. So I wanted to crack open AM and see if I still had it in me! So what I'm working on is modelling Batman! I'm trying to go for a style similar to that of the graphic novels. The unfortunate thing is that I lack rotos. I couldn't find anything satisfactory online and when I tried to draw my own, well, let's just say that didn't go very well. So I'm just going at it! So far I'm not sure whether or not I'm happy with what I have. There's quite a few problems, such as but not limited to th…

Hi all, I felt guilty for not posting anything new in a while, so here's my newest character render. I'm trying out some photo texturing to add more believabilty. The jeans texture is pretty lo res right now, I used a digital camera. I'll probably use my scanner to scan sections of some jeans for a more detailed decal. I need to rework the feet a bit, too. Shoes would be easier to model, I think. I'm thinking she could wear a jacket that uses the v12 clothsim. Jim

I am planning to try out a workflow from A:M (modelling) to Blender (UVing), then Export to zBrush and A:M again. Do sculpting and export displacement maps fom there, then go back to A:M, apply maps and a rig and do some animation. Then, export MDD and render wherever it looks best. Maybe I do some cartoons about a pirate lost on a small Island ... Best regards, Heiner

I know this sounds crazy, but I have an idea for a kids book and I'm going to go ahead with it. I'll publish on Createspace. It will be about an old woman who lives on her roof. Lots of morales built in but I can't say too much on that. I'm trying to come up with illustrations.....of which there'll be about 25. I'm heading in the direction of a sort of a 3D tactile felt feel. I'm not sure but it could be the right direction. It's all flat "south park" style which is good for speed. This attached image is just a basic test of the style. I'd be interested in any thoughts.

After a long time, I came back to a project of mine , that I had left , when I run into too many difficulties. So now I did some more tests for it with very promising results, since AM or better me with AM are now capable to render even Full-HD sizes in a reasonable amount of time. I am still not sure, if I should go with a toony "Manga/Anime" style or go for a 3D look. Tending more to the later at the moment , while at the same time not wanting to do that much texturing work, I am testing procedural textures (materials) and fake rim light for gaining a "non nude" 3Dlook . critics welcome... Well, I'm getting some new found respect for feature length animations and what it takes to render them. My small Nautilus animation is at 92% and has been rendering all night - 15:21 hours so far. It's only 640x240 but the light reflections, water reflections, etc, are really taking a render toll. 7 seconds long = 18 hours render time on my computer Still need to run a wake and splash animation to composite it with the main track. I'm really happy with the way it looks so far though. Again, I can't say enough about Mark's fantastic work he's done with the ocean generator. I shudder to think how much extra processing time it would take to render this with displace…

All the recent post's in the R&R section have inspired me to start a new model. I plan to get this one rigged and animated eventually. I have started the model but won't have anything to post until this weekend. Here are the concept images. I am not a religious person but was taken back to a time that could be seen as a religious one. (the experience anyway). I sketched it and sculpted it for my mother when she was experiencing her last four months of life.

Hey everyone...long time no pictures. I've been working on a new Superman model and it's far enough along to start sharing. This model started life as Jim Talbot's Superman model from the "Kingdom Come" series that he gave away years ago to the 3D comic collective website. Jim did such an awesome job I decided to use his model as a base for a "regular" version of the character. I still have LOTS of work to do, but I'm liking the progress so far. So, Jim, thanks for making such a cool model, I hope you don't mind my "Hashtic Surgery". Jim's is on the left, mine is on the right. Rendered AO in v13. BIG version of PJC SUPES Comments…

As some of you know, I'm working on the SO sets. Adding trees to the sets are very time consuming. Creating assembly actions for each set and positioning the trees takes alot of time. Using hair to create forests, in most cases is not an option. So I needed to come up with another plan. Here I created a model with multiple trees (trees are basic at the moment). I then constrained the trees to the ground plane in the chor in a pose. Now I can drop this model (multiple times if needed) to create a forest. I can translate and rotate the base model and the trees will follow the terrain. I also have plans to add poses to scale the model and the individual trees. Here's an exam…

[attachmentid=22030] This is my next project. I'm making this 4 mins short film based upon the Aesop's fable of "The Wolf & The Crane". I need to really solve this problem and I need a robust solution or versatile workaround. I have no money to upgrade to a newer version, and I don't have money to get the latest bellsand whistles for my computer and I'm limited in time. It probably won't fix my problem in the end. Sorry if this post sound like I'm venting, but I'm really desperate and after years and years spent into making models, the feeling that all my hard work can't be rendered apart from using the render lock (render marquee) using …

In this one, there will be 4 scenes: 1) Eddie rides horse in a open elevated / mountain area. see horse5a for a very rough preliminary animation. horse5a.mov 2) Eddie rides horse descending into a narrow rocky trail where he should slow down. 3) Of course, he will not slow down and shoots off the trail which triggers a cartoon-type response by the horse to get back on the trail and avoid disaster. see horse6 for a very rough preliminary animation. 4) A final humorous scene, where the angry horse bucks Eddie off his back and kicks sand in his…
