After i finished the model of the Norwegian searescuevessel: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10846 I started on a BIG project. The Images and the trailer is a bit outdated (from early december), but gives a clue of how I'm doing. I'll be grateful for any comment Just love AM (startet with AM october 2004) Trailer TROTG testrender (added 28.Jan.05) test (wmv) test (mov) Some screenshots: Have made every model myself from scratch except for the bouilding (heavily modified free model) the free model:

I apologize for this being in windows media format although I believe there is a way for Apple to view this. I put this here because I couldn't post it in the Cloth forum. It needs lots of smart skinning and other tender loving care but I wanted to show the full body cloth I have done. Hmmm, for some reason my file isn't posting.

I'm working on a 5-minute short, and here's a look at one of my characters. I'm still revising the decaling and some of the splinage, but this is a very rough idea of where I'm going. He is composited with a real-life background, as he will be in the short. In the picture above he has on a t-shirt (better decal to come later) in an unsuccessful attempt to cover up his "property of" stencil. The short is about a couple of sandbags who run away from their jobs (keeping the NYC subways from flooding) and come out to California. Here they are back in NYC (in a B&W flashback): All comments and suggestions welcome! -Vance

I was convinced by a friend to start a Blog. Despite less-than-riotous enthusiasm on my part, he pressed on, built it, and posted a few animations. It was great! I've been meaning [for years] to update my website. [Who hasn't?] This was so painless. And the blog will take file sizes 'way beyond what I can e-mail to friends. So here's my first public posting. A Santos-Dumont Airship No.6 is rendered over several views of the Eiffel Tower, giving the appearence [with only a mild suspension of disbelief] of circumnavigating. The clips were edited together in Sony Vegas Movie Studio. http://kelleythennow.blogspot.com/

Well schools started and i'm preparing for the science fair, and i'm gonna use A:M for it, how? 'm gonna simulate realife situations, i'm goona take picture of diffrent rooms, and other places. then i'm gonna make a simplisitc verstion of those situations. and i'l make 3 diffrent renders of the situation one with all the actual lights that are in the room( or scene ) with no radiosity one with radiosity and one useing the real lights and other lights as well to simulate it. but i can't really start on it yet, you see theres some more info i need. 1. how is it suposed to be measured, my teacher said it would be ok to show how many lights i used or how many bounces the…

You heard it right..it'll be a long time before it's done, because of school and stuff, but this is the thread that'll be used throughout the creation of the film...I'm also doing some animation excersises to get used to non-linear animation..I'm not going to rush into this. Without further ado, I give you the first clip, a two second snipped of the guy looking around. The reason why I made this is I'm focusing on small details right now. Please type up some critiques testlookaround.mov

i´ve made my first female character lately ( can´t believe it took me years to finally model a woman ), and i wanted to let her sing, somehow i always wanted to model a girl and see her sing.. so i took one of my favorite minnie riperton songs and started animating. it´s just a short break from my "alive in the attic" project, which is all dark and spooky, and this one is bright and sunny... the only intention i have with this project is that it should look beautiful and light, and of course to learn stuff i didn´t know before. so far i´ve learned tons of stuff from it, i´m sure there´s more to come. i´m pretty proud of my rendertimes on this one... i´ve alwa…

Okay, so here are some shots from a fly-through animation of the Sol system model I'm putting the finishing touches on for the Extra II DVD. All the image maps are either from JPL, NASA or one of their observatories. They are free for public consumption and reuse as we see fit. (Yes, I will have the appropriate End User License file in the project.) So far I have all the 9 planets, the sun (Sol) as well as all of the cataloged and named satellites of each planet. There are some newly discovered satellites that have only been cataloged and not officially named, so I will leave those out for the time being. Each planet model has a pose for the axial tilt as w…

The Talking Pen says I Love You and being a pen it has already drawn a hearth! I believe it is possible to make stories fast with this character. And using two pens - you can have a dialogue - making a plot by setting up a problem and giving some solution to it. Just that easy! Making a melodrama - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melodrama - with two pens or more and some props for some surroundings and perhaps you can do half an hour show in a fortnight earning some quids... Here is the project file and everything you need for you to download and experiment with yourself! Perhaps some day I will also do a free WINK tutorial - http://www.debugmode.…

I had modeled a simple tower to test out some tiling textures I made on photoshop. I started playing around with it, duplicating it, scaling it, and sticking them on, and I wound up with a really cool looking castle design. I decided to work it into a poster for my daughter's birthday. (I used to have a sound clip of her saying, "I'm the princess, in the tall, tall tower", hence the title and inspiration). The castle model is only a proxy right now. I'm going to replace it piece by piece with a more detailed model. The lighting and the background are final, for now. The lighting may get tweaked as I go along, and I may repaint the clouds in the BG, I'm not sure. …

[attachmentid=22030] This is my next project. I'm making this 4 mins short film based upon the Aesop's fable of "The Wolf & The Crane". The voice over of this project is made in Bengali (An Indian regional language - my mother tongue). But I'll be putting up subtitles in English for understanding. Moreover, if somebody likes to record the lines in English. Then we would be getting a short in english. I'd redo the lipsynch if I get the support. The Story The Original story goes like this ..... The Wolf and The Crane "When working for a tyrant, feel lucky to escape alive." A Wolf was eating an animal he had killed, when suddenly a sma…

that I did for my church, it was one of the times I really enjoyed going to an activity (maybe it was the good feeling, or the animation, or the ego petting afterwords, not sure which). Anyway, it was mostly made with A:M, more as a presentation than an animation, but I think you'll agree that it's entertaining and has a good message. By the way, sorry about the narrator, he sometimes forgot how to read

Well, not all that epic. It took an hour to render. For some reason, the grass rendered weird unless I rendered it in Multipass mode. There are five dofferent hair emitters (grass, maiden grass, blakeyed susans, clover, and solomon's seal). The images for each emitter were created using Plant Studio 2(which is available for free from http://www.kurtz-fernhout.com/PlantStudio/ ) It will export plants as bitmaps that aren't antialiased, so they're perfect for image based hair. (It will also export in several 3d formats, and I've gotten 3d plants into A:M as props, but their surface attributes aren't editable, and they tend to look like they're glowing.) The…

I've been making music with my friend these last couple of years, Darlene Lombrozo. We've been doing a regular Wednesday evening gig for over a year now and there have been a few friends that have joined us. We started out: Myron & Darlene, "An Entertaining Experience". People started asking us what the name of the band is so we came up with "Myron & Darlene and the Twisted Knickers Revue". Our 'motto' is "Don't get your Knickers in a Twist, Have a glass of Wine." We are having a demo video made and I'm making an animated version of our Business card. (Which I also made using Animation Master) I want to start the animated card out with the letters of our name…

Bought a WWI flying game a few months ago. Given my weakness for flying things, it spills over into A:M. Got an itch to play with Hansa-Brandenburgs...here's the result. On Dec.11, 1917 a flight of three W-12s led by ObLtn. Friedrich Christiansen, was on the homeward leg of their patrol. Nearing the coast, the No.3 plane, the 'Tail-End Charley', spoted an Asta-Torres airship and dove to the attack. Christiansen and his other wingman turned back to join in, but by the time they arrived it was burning. Neither plane could add much to the process as the C27 was already going down. Being Flt. Leader, Christiansen claimed the kill, and it was confirmed. After the war, in …

I know this sounds crazy, but I have an idea for a kids book and I'm going to go ahead with it. I'll publish on Createspace. It will be about an old woman who lives on her roof. Lots of morales built in but I can't say too much on that. I'm trying to come up with illustrations.....of which there'll be about 25. I'm heading in the direction of a sort of a 3D tactile felt feel. I'm not sure but it could be the right direction. It's all flat "south park" style which is good for speed. This attached image is just a basic test of the style. I'd be interested in any thoughts.

What I want to have is a background showing the noise eg. on a TV-screen. And hopefully not only black and white noise - but RGB-noise - Red, Green, Blue - noise. I have had a look on this: http://www.dotnet.se/aaver/Water/RainEffects/index.html made by the forum member aaver Perhaps that is the way to go? Making a noise-material. Someone having a noise-material to offer? Or some suggestions how to make " The-War-Of-The-Ants-Material"! I have had a try - rendering time is long so the rendering is short - rendering time also a problem - and it is not really the thing - but perhaps a start... Have a look at noise_media01.avi OK! I've got a new Theodore N' Fink script in the works and I figured it was time to revamp the characters from a short I did back in 2004. If I can pull it off there will be a childrens series on the way! My dream would be to make a living with AM doing such a series. Here is the link to the old clip. http://migrate.hash.com/amfilms/search/entry.php?entry=1096 At any rate. The old rig had lots of issues and so i've been able to redesign him incorporating all the new things i've learned since 2004! I'm still trying to decide if I like the more realish look as compared to the older more cartoonish look. Also the new one takes 13 seconds to render as opposed to 6 on …

Here's one of two characters that I'm working on. I'm in the skinning mode right now, but I'm adding new points to make the movements a lot better so I'm going back and forth and such. I have to say the skinning in Animation is a bit better than the one in Maya. I still have a couple of things to learn as I go along with this. This one is the Fighter.

After staring at the computer screen for quite a while, I have it! (Eureka?) I've decided to make a spoof of a movie. It will probably hilariously funny to my friends and me, but leave other people thinking "What???" But I'm getting off topic. so, its a spoof on mission: impossible (movie, not TV series)...with pants and stuff @ a department store. There, I said it. =P Just in the beginning now, however. Plot is not secured yet, so suggestions are very, very welcome. I am re-watching the movie tonight to refresh my memory. Here is a simple pants model, which I can modify to make other pants.

UPDATE: See the final version on page 2 of this thread Decided to re-render "Window" with real radiosity instead of the old version's manually-placed lighting. One light, sixteen passes, six hours: The only light leak I wasn't able to address was that bit under the lip of the table . . . I chalk it up to it being geometry that was modeled six years ago. Otherwise, I'm impressed. Working GI in A:M. Ain't that some chit? Thanks to Yves P. for his radiosity primer.

Recently I had the privilege of meeting Ken Baer and James Hash when they were in London for MacExpo. They mentioned that they are always looking for more promotional material so, when this came to mind while I was playing with some Loons, I decided to just do it. This is pretty rough but not bad for just over a days work on the animating. I hope to refine it, get rid of the camera motion, and add another 5 seconds at the end sometime. And of course there are no textures yet, except his eyes and eyebrows. The attached movie file is pretty low res.

Actually the question is open to anyone. I would like to have a strong contrasting shadow cast on the ground but have a light reflecting on the character's face. When I add any light and direct it up from just above the ground plane it removes the shadow on the ground. Can someone suggest the best type of light for this? I have tried all types at various strengths but have yet to find the solution. Any resemblance between this character and anyone we may know is purely coincidental. It is meant to be humourous and is not intended to offend anyone, even if they don't like the English. Paul Forwood

But i want to go ahead and get this topic on here so people can look forward to what i have done this year. I've definitely stepped up from last year's video but only in the fact that i am doing more animation and videos rather than pictures for the individuals in the video. And several of the scenes i went into some detail creating but didnt go to photorealistic given the look of the characters. I started on the video late this year or i would have redesigned the characters but i really like the look of these guys and they are fun to animate. This is a…

This is my christmascard for 2010 entirely made in AM. Everything has been modeled by myself except the drumset.( T.Y. drumset maker ) It has been made in honour for an old friend. A 76 old jazz mucisien with amazing great musical capacities who lives in andalusie spain.I met him again after 27 years. He has become older but his music impressed me in and have noticed -I thought it was not possible- has become better. A merry christmas and a happy new year to all of you. Greetings , Marc
