This is a low res of a rough storyboard to the project I am trying to develop. No dialogue. No sound, and the story will be revised in the coming weeks. The dream sequences, Spaceman, nightmare and car chase, will be done in stop motion, the rest in AM, possibly with a Toon render. Any feedback welcome regards simon Ps Be warned, its nearly 10 mins long ! CB.mov If you manage to get through it, heres something wonderful to restore the spirits !

Hi, everyone. I'd really like critiques on this new model for my next short. I'm looking for a somewhat cartoony and simple look suitable for some loose, squashy-stretchy animation. Comments about improving appeal or style would be especially appreciated. I'll probably do some texturing and surface tweaking, but not a whole lot. Yeah, I know... wireframe. Comin' up next. Thanks!

I like to balance a little good news with a little bad news... THE BAD: Here is an example of the 'render anomoly' where my shadows 'pop' and I am wondering if anyone gets this upon rendering animations. THE GOOD: BEER! I recently modeled and animated a nice glass of beer! TO SEE the GOOD and BAD: Roll over my avatar and you will see a button to play the avatar full quicktime. THE BEER: The cool stuff with the beer (still dinking with it) is the bubbles and the auto gravity pose and the empty pose. For the bubbles, I made two :15 animations in AdobeAfterEffects of rising bubbles with an alpha. I then applied those cookie-cut style to geometry cut an…

This will be my first actual animation contribution to one of our Spleengene videos. Before it has always been "non-camera" stuff. The song references numerous local Portland-Vancouver venues and bands. BACK STORY: A local band that I wanted to promote but couldn't work into the song is the Mike Branch Band. A few months ago on Face Book he posted this picture of his logo as a "tattoo" and someone complained and he was asked to take it down. A later attempt ended with the same result. It was taken with good humor and became a running gag amongst those in the know. 4s_Mike_Branch_Glasses.mov

Hi All, I got AM back when it was version 5.0, and stuck with it up to 7.1.. I stepped out of the 3-D scene for quite a few years, and just within the last few weeks, dropped by the Hash site to see the changes they made in software. I was blown away at the improvements (though I still need to upgrade ). Anyway, I've been doing 3D game development and low-poly (I know it's a dreaded word) modeling as a hobby/sidebusiness for about a year now, and wanted to start doing some cinematic stuff. So, out comes my copy of AM... To make a long story short, I'm in the process of "re-learning" AM (you don't use it, you lose it), and thought that I'd get my feet wet b…

Hi all! I'm currently working on this landscape illustration for a book cover. There are a couple of problems I'm encountering. First of all, I'm using a hair material for the leaves on the trees, but when I render it out, A:M simply crashes. I think the problem is that I don't have enough system resources. I'm running v11c on a 2.4 Pentium 4 with 512mb of RAM. Anyway, there's still a lot of texture work to be done, and details to be added. The biggest challenge for me thus far, is the leaves for the trees. I must say, I'm struggling with this. The water texture is also another challenge that I must tackle pretty soon. Please let me know what you guys think…

This should be viewed as fan movie (characters and concepts are undoubtably copyrighed), byt I came out with the idea and I had to make it... I made the characters long time ago, but I had them re - rigged for the animation... I've animated first two sequences and then I had other things to do, sooooo, this post is probably the way to get things started again... As I finish the sequences I will post them, and of course everyone around here is invited for comment (PLEASE) So, first sequence comes your way! So this is the first time I've done an animated logo with AM. Turned out pretty good. The company sells Kettlebells which are used for building muscles. For those of you who don't know, muscles are things in your body that are slowly shriveling up as you sit in front of the computer for hours and hours with out moving anything buy your hands and fingers. This isn't the final version. It's a low res sample. The final is HD and doesn't have the orange glow.... man it looks SWEET. I'm watching the final render right now... still about 90 minutes to go. pkb.mov Here's what the final will look like: The zoom was just straight forward key framing wi…

hi at all... i have a model with hair, the model also has some dynamic constraints. when i´m rendering with the hair turned off, the dynamic constraints work fine, but when i render with hair on, no dynamic constraint movement shows in the render. the hair dynamics work fine, just that the hair seems to prevent the dynamic constraints to work. any clue? i have another little problem with this model, maybe some rigging experts can help... the model was rigged with the squetch rig, everything is working as it should, except one thing: the ring finger curl isn´t working, all other fingers are fine though... i noticed that in the "relationships>bones" folder …

This is a low rez render of something I'm working on. I've got a long way to go yet. I realize that. It's basically pre-vis of a quick banking shot of a chase sequence in a sci-fi action adventure project that I've written and am pitching to direct. As of this render, the spider hadn't been fully textured (it is now, but I'm probably gonna have to re do it. ) Also, obviously the lightings not done, etc, etc, but I just wanted to "come out" so to speak and share a little of what I'm working on. I realize it's "just pre-vis", but I want to make it as best as is reasonable considering I'm not Peter Jackson.... yet. Its in the "CG Test Renders" folder of my Yah…

Hi everyone, Well, the school holidays end and so does my productivity. Before I get back into the nitty grity of teaching students, I thought people might be interested in the latest 'character' to use the term loosely. There is a little test animation on the below link http://www.shaunfreeman.com/ant.htm I rigged this guy by hand using Billy Egginton's setup, as it seemed easier given he has SIX legs? It took a while, but I am happy with the result In any case, peoples thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated!

I have been working on getting the lighting correct for compositing Hash characters into photo backgrounds. This can be tricky sometimes because you have to take the entire scene into account in selecting the lighting. Please look at the attached image and see if the characters appear to be be part of the background image.

I've posted about this before, only then it was supposed to be a CGI film. It's live action now, and it is very CG heavy. I'm in desperate need of two or three volunteer modelers who are talented enough to create photo-real creatures and environments. You also need to be able to rig the models you creature. Basically, a lot of our sets will be digital due to the expense of building them in reality. There castles and medieval homes and things like that that will have to be digital due to cost. Also, I could use one or two people in the animating section, but that won't be needed until probably the end of 2007 or better. So, anyone up for the task? It won't b…

Hey guys, following my tests with displacment for folds in clothing, I discovered that no matter how I altered my settings I can not avoid getting these little black dots where the displament map is on the model. I am thinking that the dots are pixels that are brighter then the surrounding pixels in the gradient of the blur that I used on the map and the toon renderer is pickign it up as an edge. is that possible? or is it a compression thing? I've tried both png(profile stripped after ps save) and tga files. any help or suggestions would be appreciated here is an image sowing the problem.

This is just the ground floor of a multi-story building, the design of which is loosely based on a local building (but it's not called the Brill Building). The sidewalk needs more dirt and clutter. And yes, there is a clone of the building across the street so there's something to reflect in the windows. Next step is the upper floors.

Every year I create a new set of images of one of my nekosei girls to host my website. An image for the spash page, an image where just the girl is used as the background for the menu, and a special naughty image that is hidden somewhere in the site along with the complete menu image. This year I worked on getting these images made in Animation Master, and I feel they are finally finished. I am extremely pleased how these have turned out. Note: The taller images (which are the hidden ones) are shrunken in size by 50%. Gotta give you a reason to search the site how don't I? I also create a signature to use on the various forums I go to advertising…
