Animation done for the RevveR Film School topic "Green". After over 61 hours, 4 minutes, and 37 seconds of rendering, the render was corrupted... So I re rendered on my main PC, taking 11 hours, 40 minutes, and 19 seconds. So total render time was 62 hours, 44 minutes, 56 seconds. Animation time was from RFS announcement of topic "Green" until February 18th on and off. Thanks, rate high folks and remember to share this video with your friends. Crits welcome, I had to do it fast because the contest only gives you a month to do the film. Help me win guys RevveR Film School Animation RevveR Animation Backup (WORKING)

working on some art for an iphone game i'm building and here's my 2nd attempt at armor. v3 will probably be my keeper. this armor set is what all my units will wear primarily with different textures for each race and the few unique armors that actually change the graphic of a unit on the battle screen, will be additional shoulder pads and helmets to this basic armor model. for instance 6 different armors all have this model for their base armor set but differ from each other by shoulder/head graphic. did it in about 5 hours and the video took about 2 hours to render haha. i'm considering trying a v2.5 with a more cartoony, Mii style character model with bubblie…

hi @ all, i´m modeling a kitchen for my next project, and i´m not that experienced with mechanical modeling. i´m starting with the fridge and i´ve already got a problem: it´s a retro-fridge with a rounded front, and i really have serious problems getting this thing smooth... screenshots attached, how would you do the splineage?

Just a quick post to let everyone know that a revised, large-screen version of my animation <ESC> is up on AMFilms. This is the one that won the IRTC for October 2003. I cleaned up some of the animation and fixed a bunch of textures. http://amfilms.hash.com/search/Entry.php?entry=786 Interestingly enough, I got an email from a guy who had independently come up with the same concept of an escape key escaping. He was kind enough to say that he had enjoyed my film. Although he's doing it in another application, I thought I'd post his proof of concept render. Zach

"Stolen Smells" is a children's book that was commissioned to be adapted into an A:M-animated short by the Anzovins. Using the same style of flat lighting as The Duel, it looks like they've managed to match the 2D look of the original book very closely, though the characters are fully animated models. Anyway, I've been looking forward to seeing this since I first read about it--it's always nice to see the different styles that A:M can be used for.

I need to build a model of K2 for a 9th grade science project. My teacher has authorized me to build it A:M rather than papier maché. I've attached a rough image I made from a topo map. It's not the final image for the displacement map, just a stand in while I finish it. I was wondering how I can apply the displacement to the model's geometry. I need to model some stuff to top of the mountain to make it look like a national park. How can I do this? I have the latest 10.5 release under OS 9 and Beta 7 under OS X. I know I should post this in the newbies forum, but I see this as a work in progress. Thanks to anyone who can help! PS. This project is due Monday!!!

Hi, everyone. I'd really like critiques on this new model for my next short. I'm looking for a somewhat cartoony and simple look suitable for some loose, squashy-stretchy animation. Comments about improving appeal or style would be especially appreciated. I'll probably do some texturing and surface tweaking, but not a whole lot. Yeah, I know... wireframe. Comin' up next. Thanks!

I'm working on a music video for my band. The instrumental tune is called Escape from the Mines of Titan, and that pretty much spells out the plot. I just started work, and quickly put together a scene. I just created a surface, added some hills and valleys, and put on some color and roughness that gives it a sandy look. (Saturn behind it is an actual NASA photo.) The real Titan has a landscape more like that of the moon, but I would be OK with keeping it sandy. I'd love to hear any tips or suggestions you guys have about improving the look of Titan (maybe a material or image texture?) It's not bad for the small amount of time I've spent on it so far, but it can be…

I am doing a personal project, nothing important but something I want to do. one of the main characters is a Bear. I been up since lastnight making the bear and I am actually quite pleased so far. I know how to rig a person but I am kinda lost on where to start with this dagnabit bear! I really want to do it right the first time so if anyone would please give me your ideas on rigging him I would be very grateful. I am not asking a full tutorial LOL. Just some ideas and maybe a basic layout I can begin with. I just dont want to rig him all up and then have to redo the whole dagnabit bear. any other creative ideas are welcome too. Hello! As always it has been a while since I've posted anything here but I have been lurking! I have a new project now that I figured I should post a WIP of. First a little background: As my forum handle suggests, I am a photographer. I shoot a lot of digital but have in the past year gotten into analog photography. I now shoot my own B/W film and develop myself. The very popular and famous film, Kodachrome, was discontinued last year by Kodak. This film which is truly unique will never be made again. Also the one lab in the world that can still process it will stop processing at the end of this year. I managed to get a hold of a single roll of K…

This is a photo of a prototype that I've been working on at my day job as Creative Director for SMP Display & Design group. It is a cast urethane sculpture of "Mr. JellyBelly", the mascot for Jelly Belly Candy Company, for the new international display. I had modeled Mr. JellyBelly in Animation:Master and exported several different poses of him as .3ds files to bring into my CAD program where the rest of the display was designed. When the final design was approved, I had this figure carved and molded for the prototypes. I airbrushed the finished figures before boxing them up to send to a tradeshow in Europe. Anyway, since I did use A:M in the design process,…

I have a choreography that at one time had a sound file in it (approx 1600 frames worth) I deleted the sound file from chor I deleted all keyframes from the chor - so that the only key frames are on frame 0 and frame 180ish I want to use this chor as a starting chor for subsequent chors as it contains starting models, camera, lights, render settings, etc. I add a new sound file (about 180 frames), change the starting chor length to be 180. I save this chor. When I restart A:M and bring this chor back into A:M, the chor length is still 1600? But there is no sound file, no keyframes past 180. I need to be able to save the chor length correctly in each…

It's late and I'm tired so I'll get to the point. I'm trying to make this bug character that has an expressive face yet is still recognizable as a ground beetle. I made the face lighter so the facial features, and especially the mouth, were visible. I got the idea from studying A Bug's Life. Overall, I'm hapy with the results, but I would love some suggestions on how to make the face more expressive. I think I should make the mouth bigger, but should it have eyelids that blink and eyebrows? Any other comments or suggestions would be great. Here is the link: bug test

I'm trying some new techniques with this. My eventual goal is just to finish modeling, rigging, and texturing him. I just want to complete a character, for once. I didn't do any rotoscopes, I'm modeling everything on the fly. I started off with a rough proxy so that I had the proportions I want nailed down before I started: With the head, I did things a little different too. I made the eye and the mouth by lathing splines, and re-shaping them. The nose I started by lathing a nostril, duplicating it, attaching the two, and then modeling the bulb and bridge. I did the eye first, then the nose, and attached them, then the mouth. I'm sorry I didn't take …

Well, after loosing the last model, I took a few days away from the computer and started with a new idea. I just started with the head and will try to get the ear and hair tomorrow. I worked hard on getting the eyes in and with Colin Freeman's advise I actually got the thing in on the second try. This is the first model I have been able to shut the eyes properly. I have a lot of clean up. One thing I noticed and maybe why I get spline heavy is a spline one at a time. Some of the other models updated lately look wonderful with so few spline. How do they do that? Will up date as I go Steve

So I got inspired by another thread and dinked for about an hour to put this together. [attachmentid=21884] It brings up something we've discussed in other threads for Tin Woodman, reflection and how to make it better in darkly lit situations. Yves is working on solutions (I think) but I wanted to get input on things that might improve reflection in AM and get input on this guy as well ;-) The thing I find I miss most is a reflective color. Is there a way to do this and I'm just missing it? One thing that kills metals is when they reflect to much color from the environment if they have color themselves, like gold or brass or copper. The other thi…

DaVinci's ideally proportional man (Vitruvian) was used as a roto to modify Thom into a more current "generic man" (note the beer belly). I have yet to rig him, but will probably be using 2001 skeleton, as I don't need the complexity or options of the squetch rig. He will have no mouth, eyes, ears, hands, or feet, other than what you see here... I used a "pencil sketch" trial with bitmap plus to get his basic texture... My character needs no more... though I'd like to figure out how to disguise the seam down the middle of his torso. What I'd like to get is some feed back as to his general appearance, whether you can "relate" to him or not and general "…

Comments are of course welcome . See you *Fuchur* PS: I although attached an image with the wireframe overlayed. As you can see, the geometry is really quite simple.

Just threw a bunch of old, half finished models into a choreography and added some paths. All very rough and simple. Just a run cycle on a path. No bending into corners, no interesting antics, no nothin'... just a run cycle for the moment. Oh. It's only 320 x 240 and all hair/grass/foliage was turned off to get a fairly quick test render with just one pass.

Hey everybody, It's been awhile since I posted something new. I started working on a T. rex last year while i was unemployed, and then put it aside when I found work. In trying to decide what colors i want to paint my room, I'm builing a full scale replica of it in A:M to see how each color choice will effect the rest of the room. So far all i have is the basic furniture and main structure built. I'm not sure if i want to go as far as modeling every little trinket i have on my computer desk or shelf, but I may just end up doing that for the fun of it. Matt built the bed for me, but i'm gunna try and make it not look so perfectly beveled, texture it, and give it a not so boxy pillow. anyways, here's the first render I've made so far.

Hi All - I have nearly completed modeling the lamp I will use to continue ABC training. If I can complete this model and successfully rig this sucker, I'll post the model up for all to use. I have two questions which are stopping me from completing this model: 1) The lamp shade itself. I lathed the shade and then I added points to create the slotted cutouts (see images LuxoLampShade-Render and LuxoLampShade-Closeup for examples). When I added the points, the top-middle section of the lampshade is no longer smooth. What I'm wondering is, how would you recommend I create the slots in the lampshade to keep it nice and smooth? 2) For the lamp's spri…
