Hey guys! I entered an art competition for my congressional district and (obviously) I used AM to make my entry! The top 3 winners got scholarships to the Art Institute of Atlanta. Unfortunately, I didn't win. Though I have been told that the judges were REALLY looking at it and that it got several "OOh"s and "Aah."s when the staff was hanging it up. No worrys! Now I can hang it up in my room. The Picture A couple notes: -This is about 2 weeks of work. -The printed version has twice the resolution and is 24 by 24 inches. -The shuttle's front windows aren't there as no one can see them in the shot. So....How am I doing?

I build simple models. I build a lot of them. and then I modify them to make more models I use basic construction methods most of which are based on 4 and eight point extrusions. So tonight I sat down to build a monster. Nothing hyperreal, just a fun little dinosaur. The bodyhas eight points in cross-section and the limbs are fourpoint extrusions. About halfway through the dinosaur I though"what if I built a whole lot of components...diffferent body types, legs, wings, different heads..so that you could easily stitch your own monster together . A few components later I had the griffin. So here's the challenge..... build a component body and heads to join using an ei…

Heyope, Here's a clip of Edna (aka - Mogina) walking around in circles. The second half has some academic nudity so, if you're upset by that, be forewarned. It's pretty tame, though. Anyhow, Edna was started in v.8.5 and then got abandoned until 10.5. Now I've dusted her off, completly re-rigged her and almost completely re-modeled her. Gave her some do-dads and made some jangly bits jangle (if you know what I mean). She's, more or less, a finished model, if there is such a thing but; if anyone has suggestions/comments on the model or the animation, I'd love to hear them. I hope this link works. My faith in how my ISP public folders work is shakey. I suggest…

When I was working on the "Bus Stop" set, for the forum project, there was a few people that wanted multiple sets. I had a few ideas, but there was not enough time with the deadline Robert set for the project. This was something I've been wanting to do for awhile, but never got around to it. There's still alot to do, but I figured I would post my progress on it.

Hey everyone. The Animation Contest guidelines specify that entries have to be 320x240 pixels, but, judging from the other entries, to quote Pirates of the Carribean, those are apparently more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules. I'll know better next time. In any case, because of how dark and high-contrast my 'Mood Shot' entry was, I thought I'd provide a link to a higher-res version, for anyone who might be interested. Mood Shot - 480x270, 3MB.

Hey Everyone. Often when I am trying to set up that "perfect" camera shot in my scene, I get deceived by the fact that I can see too much of the camera angle. In other words, things beyond the edges of the camera can be seen while placing the camera at a good angle. Then when I render I realize that I got too much or too little in the view. So I made a simple 16:9 "View Blocker" model so that when I'm setting up my camera, I'll have an easier time seeing only what will be rendered. Maybe some of you could use this little help. Here it is. Attached is the model and a choreography with it set up on the camera Also the two pics show with and with…

Well, here goes... Below is an 11-second lipsync test I did for a personal project I'm working on, called "Ebon." The dialog in this clip is from a 2-3 minute scene I'll start work on once I build the rest of the characters and the set. This is both my first model ever as well as my first animation ever, so it's not all it could be, but that's okay--this isn't a portfolio piece, just an excuse to teach myself the Hash interface and to suggest what the final animation might look like. [Addendum 7:40am - preview image:] About this clip: The dialog comes from my own script, with voices provided by friends. The background was Photoshopped from a…

Here's a sampling of my 'movie set' for a first animation, [if this looks to be CP heavy, well, I've been a polygon modeler for over 10 years] and my first two characters. All they will have to do is walk down a long, straight alley, down a set of steps, across a courtyard and emerge on the street near where the tank is parked. Then cross the street. Simple. [Yeah. Right!] Will they talk? In the process of learning to install bones, I'm sure I'll do the "Can You Say That?" tutorial, and by the time they can walk...well, maybe. I expect the boning procedure will not be a short one. I approach 'bones' with great trepidation. Tried them in Carrara. Never did get i…

I decided it was time to get someone to drive my various vehicles. This guy will perform two roles. The first will be to drive around the pickup truck https://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=48329 . With a change of hats, an added mustache and a pair of goggles he's ready to be a locomotive engineer. My thanks to Mechadelphia for the Saucy Rig. The skin and cloth textures were chosen to make a reasonable impression at a distance, so they tend to break down upon close inspection. The stretching in the coverall decals comes from only flattening and applying a front and rear decal. I suspect I'd get less warping if I had gone for left front, right front, left rea…

I'm doing a short video for my band. I've been working on animating a guy in a space suit doing low-gravity jumping. I've rigged him with a simple rig based on Barry Zundel's, which he described in his A:M 2005 training video. The space suit is a lot simpler than a human body, because you would expect it to crumple in ways human skin will not, so there is not as much cosmetic bone work. Also, movement is somewhat restricted. Anyway, at the moment I'm trying to get the movement as natural as I can. You can see the action at the link below. I've been working on getting followthrough and overlapping action happening. I'd love to hear your views on what I've done …

Here is one of my characters for an upcoming project. His name is Pana-boon and he is a very hungry, childish bear. Besides only modelling half, and I know he needs paws, feet, eyes, not being done, etc. I'm looking for input about proportions, splinage for animation, rigging, etc. I will be covering him with the new version 11+ hair and rigging him for animation using the standard Hash 2001 rig. Any thoughts or do you see any problem points that may cause headache later in production? What about the overall character design? He will be a mixture of a children's bear / realistic hair with a styalized look. IF that makes sense? Some where between cartoo…

I've been inspired by Christmas Tauntauns on You Tube, so I thought my first toon should be a Christmas one too. I wanted to share some of the models I've been working on to get some feed back. The first is going to be the Captain of the Toy Soldiers Uniform, the next is the Gingerbread house and then finally the Christmas tree (which kind of bothers me) I'm thinking of redoing the tree, using the hair system to make the needles and get a more realistic look, but the lights... any pointers? Right now, glow is just turned on, is there a way to make the bulbs brighter and flash sequentially? Anyway, thanks for taking a peek.

Over the next two months or so i am going to be creating objects to be used in a game online. All of the objects are going to be objects from times of empires and kings times. I will say now that i do not play this game but a few of my friends do. Which is who helped me get this project. So now i am going to be making objects and showing you guys my progress. The game is called War of Empires... and you can check it out here if you would like to. None of the artwork on this site is mine though. Im not sure where my work will go if its used. The work will be created from a certain angle of each of the models so none of the shots are final. but my first …

Well, I know it's been a while since I've been really visible on the boards, but I just wanted to show you guys some things I've been working on. First off, I was inspired by the Batman Animated series to create this 4 minute animation that I posted on youtube: Here's a quick environment test I did afterwards: Next is a test I did involving the Batman animated series style again. This time, I imagined what the "Knightfall" Jean Paul Valley batman would look like in this style. [attachmentid=21318] I also made models of The Riddler and Robin from the Animated Series. [attachmentid=21320] [attachmentid=21319] Third, I found some great reference of Marvel…

Hello friends I felt like doing some experimenting the other day. I had a photo of New York taken from the Empire State building The photo is taken by a friend and colleague of me, Johanna Vaart So, I wanted to see if I was able to convert the photo to an anaglyph using A:M. First I used PFHoe, to "track" the photo, by doing so I got the camera position and angle, then I started to create simple proxymodels and placed them accordingly with the photo. When done I made a depthmap using fog. In PhotoShop I used the depthmap as a displacementmap to skew the red channel to the left and green and blue channel to the right. I also made a "tilt-shift miniature" vers…

Hey all. I wanted you to have a look at some of the work of a really good artist. He's done quite a number of characters and comics over the years. Some of his art can be seen here: https://www.artstation.com/greyduck I'm currently rigging one character of his, known as the Fanboy. These guys usually show up in numbers and cause mayhem wherever they go. Here's his original model sheet and a rendering of the model I made. I believe he does commission work but I'm not certain if he is doing so at the moment. Feel free to drop him a line. He's usually quick to respond.

Ok, I don't know how I got started on this late at night, but we were reading Go, Dog, Go! It's always been one of my favorite books when I was a kid and I loved their cars. I thought it might be easy to model so here is what I came up with. First time playing with materials too. I'll want to play around with it some more later, make some rubber for the tires, seats in, steering wheel and grille, few other things. C&C welcome

Haven't showed anything in a while so... I have been inspired by Stian's cathedral to do some modelling. I was looking at the intricate detail on a US $1 bill and thought... I'll do it in 3D! 4 days and 28,000 patches later... The 'George Washington' bust was big fun to do. I rotoed the basic shapes and began extruding. I borrowed Sir Nigels nose. I am now rigging it for basic motion...eyes, neck/head, mouth/jaw...maybe I'll get ambitious and do some ZignTrack motion capture. I will do some basic zooms and pans, maybe try to sell this for a TV spot or something... DOLLARsmall.mov
