Hi guys, I posted this scene a while back on the list and I though I would post it on the new forum....... I created this as a STILL LIFE, just testing out lighting and texturing. http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galle...it&ByArtist=Yes thanks for viewing.

Does anyone have or can anyone suggest a great example of A:M Subsurface Scattering. Something that, as soon as you see it, clearly demonstrates SSS (and looks great). I want to stick it in a tutorial video on "Rendering"

Well its time again for my annual student film. This year "turtles & dominos (or dominoes)" with a title still in the works. So far the story about a turtle who is finishing a large domino setup when his nephew is dropped over for a visit. Based on an encounter with my own nephew. The rules: as 2nd year students we are abided to.... - not exceed 3 min - allowed to have selective color - dialouge - sync sound A relatively up-to-date "nephew" wire render. Enjoy.

This is a model of a tree I started yesterday, in response to a little challenge amongst the Fellows... It is 31,274 patches! all one mesh . At the tip of each twig is an emitter that I will be adding a leaf material to.

I thought I might post a little water test I did. It looks very promising. I used an animated displacement and bump map (you can see the line where the bump map begins). I used the babbage patch tutes to help me out. Anyway, just thought people might be interested. Cheers Shaun water_displacement.mov

We are in the process of gathering our sources to create a portfolio. Our company doesn't specialize in 3D stuff. However, we use A:M quite often in our pipeline of work. We hope to have the process finished in a month. I thought I'd share some of those clips. Here's one, more to come, and eventually the final edit. CREA_MEDIUM.mov

Hello All, I wasn't going to post anything for quite some time on our developments or productions (and so on) but I couldn't wait to show you the beginnings of our developments on our short film. Mind you this is still a work in progress and there are a few things to tweak, add or modify. This is just a simple test of how the main character is coming along. The designs are mine but since I am not able to model due to lack of time and of course it would take me a hell of a lot longer then someone who actually eats, poops and sleeps modeling, I had to use the services of others. Special thanks goes to Stian Ervik Wahlvåg for offering up his skills on modeling…

Got a sudden inclination to give this object a try... First test render with a simple sphere and a simple decal. Can you guess what it is? (Science Fiction buffs probably will...) I purposely made the seam face the camera for me to make sure the decal is on there correctly. I DID cheat a bit. Found that cylindrical mapping gives smoother results near the poles. The trick is to spherical map first, screen capture and use the capture as a rotoscope for sizing the cylindrical decal placement.

Hello y'all! Been inspired recently to pickup an old project of mine. So imagine a summer day, a breeze whispering to the trees and creating paths through the grass on the hills, gently spinning the windmill that time and nature have left behind. Thats my scene in a sentence. Ive gotten started on the modeling of the windmill. I plan to "try" and create my own procedural rusty metal shaders but may resort to decals or a darktree shader. I will also use hair for the golden grass and leaves on the oaktrees. I may model a barn or some other point of interest too. More coming Photoman

I got a quick gig modeling a statue of Athena. Yippee! The head and helmet is almost done, just have to add more hair and a few details. Then on to the rest of the body. I've spent three days on it so far. I'm going to try to finish this by next Sunday. Wish me luck.

I saw a redesigned 1701 on the web created by a very talented Star Trek fan and wanted to recreate it in Animation Master. I'll have to find the original web site in order to credit the author, but for now I'm just gonna post my progress. I know it's been done upteen times, but I'm a space junkie and always wanted to try my hand at the old girl. Enjoy.

I never paid much attention to it, but now that I have a night scene, I wonder if I have to make adjustments so everyone can see all the intended details? It looks great on my monitor, will it look the same on everyone elses'?

Hey folks, I've been working on a superhero character called the Mongoose. I'm working on the eyes and would love to have your opinion on which eyes would work the best. The character is supposed to be a dark character, but a good guy - kind of like Batman. The one thing that I'm trying to avoid is the "Spiderman look" (like the image number 2). Anyway, I would love to here which one is your favorite. All the best, Nima Anvar

Before I send a bug report, I thought I would ask here. I upgraded to 18b and since that time the hair settings are not recognized on any of my characters. The grooming is fine but the hair only renders white in any setting. I have tried multiple settings in rendering mode and each time the hair is white. In fact, if a test render with no settings other than base color to the hair it still renders white. So, has anyone else run across this? Steve

While awaiting a render I thought I'd try an idea for the car chase sequence. I've taken some low res targa photos of the lego houses and mapped them onto four patch planes to composite within the multi plane chor option. The question is, how do I get it to cut out the space were the windows are ? Heres an example of one of the files. Green_01.tga I cut out the spaces were the windows were and left it transparent in TGA format. When rendered it shows the gap as a flat white ? Is there a way around that ? regards simon Apologies here is a jpg version of the same file

Hello to all - I have been working on my first short short film for a couple months now and finally decided to consolidate my posting regarding it in this thread. Operation:Sphinx is code for my yet unnamed toon. It follows the story of a creature as it lands on a planet unknown to it, and we witness a surprising discovery. As of today, the shot sequence is done and I am currently working on props and finishing the storyboards. And of course, i'm doing a slew of animation tests with the main character. I'm new to all aspects of filmmaking so this project is going to take me a while. I'll be halting production for tutorials and other collaboration…

Ok. I needed to get my animation that I had started 1 year ago, off my plate so that I could move on. (Gawd. ONE YEAR AGO???...Are you serious?) One month ago, I noticed there was a music video contest advertised on Talenthouse.com, sponsored by the band The Cataracs, in which they were inviting people to animate to their little ditty "Undercover". The music "sorta" fit with Ida & Lothario's already started dance routine. The music clip was only 1 minute long. I had 45 secs or so already done. I missed the entry date by 1 day (confoooosion on my part, very confooosing due date for their contest which only got 6? entries). Boo Hiss Lame. BUT t…

Hello, I thought I would take a chance and show a model I have been working on. I'd welcome critiques on his appeal and the modeling. I have been working to rig him with the TSM2 rig. I am referencing Caroline's tut on the TSM2 rig and it has helped impove my previous attempts. I am still having trouble at the shoulder. When I move the arm forward the chest wants to push in a bit too much but looks pretty good when moved up and down. I have not tried smart skin yet. How much smart skinning should be required if I have the fan bone and CP weighting right? I'm having a hard time knowing how much of each solution is the right amount. Any opinions and c…

Hi all, Here's a WIP of a hair style on Lady Goodbody using the v.11 hair system. I call this one "the Miss America look". The renders are pretty speedy if you use lights with z-buffered shadows. And the hair looks better with those lights, too. Thanks Hash guys, especially Randy and Ken for bringing the Mac version along so far, and for the great hair system. Jim

Hi all! I was inspired by a recent post by David Dustin of Dustin Productions to attempt modeling and animating a bicycle chain moving around sprockets. So here it is!! I've attached screen shots which you can click to view larger images. Thanks David for the inspiration, and you're welcome to use my project if you have any use whatsoever! BTW, I'm a little nervous, this is my first post to the Showcase, so here goes...but don't be afraid to criticize. (I hope my links show up correctly!) My technique was to create a pose in which each chain link was constrained to path, with a different ease with keyframes at 0%, 50% and 100%. Then the sprockets were syn…

I started on a new model my fourth one. I am having some problems. Scaling: When I try to scale by highlighting a section of the model and press the shift key or select the advance minpulator for scaling the model will not scale. I am running AM 12q (windows). Also I am having a problem with the corner of the eyes. I wnated the eyes deep set but no matter what I do there is a shadow around the inside corners. Once again I see that I am spline heavy. Any thoughts. Steve

Just to play around a little, I have decided to model a Mark II Viper from the remade BSG. My modeling skills suck (as can be seen here) but it's somewhat fun to model and there's no BSG models kicking around from what I can tell, so here's what I got so far:

I raised this last time I used AM and got nowhere. The 3DConnexion *standard* axis for Spin and Roll are swapped in AM. Last time I raised this (years ago) I was told this was what certain AM users wanted and it wouldn't change. Would a request to add a user option to use the 3DConnexion *default* axis be considered? Cheers

Hello! This is my first post. I thought I needed some motivation because I've been very unmotivated lately. Alas I am forced to show my unfinished model. I want the good people of Hash users to comment on the model as I may not realize the flaws of my work because I have never shown it to anyone. You have to excuse the texture because the bump mapping isn't finalized yet. Also it hasn't been lighted yet. It's just s render preview from an Action window. Any constructive comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. By the way,I am using AM 8.0. here's a preview: Preview

I did this as a sketch from a Molly Hatchet ticket stubb my brother had about 20 years ago. Since I have been building my collection of models I figured I would give it a try. I would like any input, especially how one would create a velvety appearance for the fur. Here's the concept. The sketch was brought into the computer and I was "painting it in PSP (kinda doing that with all my old traditional art) but AM seems a better effort hence the model.

(Split this off another topic so as not to hijack that thread) The trick... to old style Locks of Hair... is to apply the Material to a single spline that drives the hair. Note: I am only assuming this still works in current versions of A:M. Will have to test to be sure. Still works! Here's a basic write up on the process: Locks_of_Hair_Project.pdf

My nephew turned five today and is having a birthday party this weekend. After seeing some Cake Boss episodes a few weeks ago, I'm wondering if I could do a custom cake for him. His favorite super-hero these days is J'onn J'onz, the Martian Manhunter. For some reason, he doesn't like it if you call him Martian Manhunter, only J'onn. :-) Anyway, I cranked up A:M tonight and did this mockup of what the cake might look like:

Just thought I would post some shots of how my new model project is coming along. I have been asked to do some shots for a Star Wars Fan film (for free of course). 5 shots each revolving around a babies head - so I need a babies head model (very specific since they already have shots of the baby I need to duplicate the real one......) and it needs to be rigged for basic baby facial work. Unfortunately I have only a front roto to work from so I have to 'wing it' somewhat. So I will welcome comment/recommendations about how it's working out as I progress. For those wanting to learn how to model a face - I highly recommend "Model a Face with Bill Young" c/- Anzo…
