Same model in both left and right images but better (IMO) textures, lighting and setting; ten years between renders. I'd be willing to bet there's nothing in the 2013 versions that couldn't have been done in 2003, it just took that long to motivate myself to sweat those details.

Started a project to test a working process. The narrative premise is a bit corny but, it was the working process I wanted to find out about. The basic idea is that the ingredients of a cake mix, indulge in a dance off before jumping in the bowl ready for mixing. What I wanted to do was to animate and render it in AM, but then work over the top in TVpaint so it looked hand drawn, in a cg setting, so as to get a mix of visual styles in the same piece of work. I've encountered some problems along the way but will cover them later. This was the first test, hand drawn, no references. decided it changed volume too much so needed to use AM to avoid that, Line Test 001.m…

Experimenting with a woodcut look. This test is modeled in Zbrush, then smoothed with their clay/sharp edges algorithm, and remeshed to app. 30k polys and exported. Then imported into A:M (took some time!!) When inside A:M I peaked all splines, thus essentially bypassing A:Ms spline system (I bow my head in shame). When additionally setting the subdivs to the lowest setting, it is possible to get a managable model in A:M. But of course, this is for hard body animation only (which doesn’t bother me). Deforming this model would propably yield some undesirable results. An example of a real world wood carved puppet

Hey everyone. I've been reading this forum for a while, and asked a question here and there. I would love to answer some too, but usually I just don't know the answers to people's questions. Hopefully that will change over time, but I'm still a novice, for sure. I thought I could be somewhat useful though by sharing my project in the WIP section and describing my process a little bit. If this post gets any kind of response, I may continue to post updates or answer questions or more likely ask questions on how to overcome my latest technical problem as I continue working on this short. I've been working on my first animated short film on and off for several months. I …

Thought id out up a little of what im working on. Id like to say right now that im no modeler, hence the incredibly awkward creases and such. Good animation is my goal for this short and i was hoping you people with more experience could give me some pointers and point out things i should change. Anyways, heres a short little sample, 3 MB. www.pallidus.net/dball1 Thanks all, SeanC.

Hello, I tried to put a bump mapping with bake texture to work in 3dpainter. And I also tried using a projection, with the projection, it is correct. you can see that if I use the bake, bump mapping is not correct rendering. we see al the coat of the patch with bake texture. Bake is for me very great to work with complex texture. And if i use normal map the problem is greater

Needs mucho work - but I like the way it's progressing. Been playing around with creating a model with hair, and trying to get something that might have reasonable rendering times for animation - - so I've been keeping the density low (lower than I'd really like) - And hoo-Boy have I been struggling with the grooming (yikes what a spaghetti nest of string!), resorted to fakey lighting, shadows, 1 pass, etc... BUT this image at 640 x480 rendered in 37 secs! I could live with that...(I'm really really impatient) Will be working on cleaning up the face (too confusing - image wise) - fixing the bald spots... comments welcome

I know that's a bit vague, but I've never baked hair before. I'm trying to bake the hair (tree leaves mostly) in that opening aerial shot in TWO. It's a big shot and it will take many minutes to compute the particles all the way to the last frame if I'm just scrubbing the timeline, but should baking the scene take much longer?

Answers in Genesis (AiG), Christian apologetics and creation science organization, as well as builders of Creation Museum in greater-Cincinnati, has redesigned their extremely popular website. A key feature of the redesigned site is a new "Get Started" section that features an introduction video ("About AiG") that includes one of my 3D animations that I created for them. www.AnswersInGenesis.org is the single most-popular Christian apologetics website, receiving over 50,000 unique visitors (not hits) every day, which is about 150,000 page views. In a month, the website reaches hundreds of thousands of unique vistors (again, not hits because that would register in the…

I have completed the body and I going for a fun loving comical dog. Here it is! Steve Here is a wire frame. Still have to tweak the legs and other areas around head area.

Kind of doing a version of Pipe Dreams but using archery. I'm kind of making it up as I go. Will the bow(s) be wood or metal? We'll see as the months go on. I have started school again https://www.cs.clemson.edu/dpa/msindpa.html Most of my time is being taken up with work, school, and Uber, so I am not sure how much time I am going to be able to devote to this. Attached is the beginnings of a bow. Next comes bones and movement.

All Mixed Up
by MJL- 22 replies

I just started back up with A:M after my bump on the head. I'm modeling a mixer for an upcoming project. A simple thing. I "Photoshopped" out the fader nobs for a decal and will model the actual faders so they will slide with pose sliders. My challenge is this: I'd like to make the meter "lights" look like they are moving. For each meter light I'd like to use decals in series kind of like a GIF, with about 3 or 4 decals cycling, to make each meter look like the level is going up and down. Any ideas on the best way to go about this?

This is probably going to be too detailed for some but I'm trying to avoid the forgotten feature syndrome. I find that when I get comfortable with a new (to me) feature I tend to move on to the next thing with no documentation. When I want to re-use that feature sometime in the future (a month? a year?) I have to re-learn it all over again (I'm looking at you Stride Length). So this thread is mostly a tutorial for my future self. There's a zipped file at the end that some may find useful. In v19 Steffen added the ability to add a series of images to sprites so this seemed like an ideal time for my steam locomotive actually steam. The following image encapsulates every…

So I am starting on a project and basing both character off some cartoon rotos I found on the interwebs. I don't know if they're from the same cartoon or not, I don't really care, haha. I just want them to look cool together. I am making each mesh from scratch, except for the hands which I took from my J.D. character. I might take more things from other models of mine, but I'm trying to remember how to do all this stuff - so making it again is the best way I'm thinking. Here's what I got so far of the Batman. Just the base body. Still have to add all the detail and fix stuff as I go along. I should also mention that this is just a screen grab. Thanks fo…

I'm moving this topic to WIP since I don't have access to the Animation Master forum. To reiterate; I've very lax in loading the latest versions and have been using 19.0e since it came out. I just installed 19.0j and upon starting AM got the error message:"Unable to load plugin" (followed by a sequential list of all the .atx and .trb files I bought from Enhance:AM) "The specified procedure could not be found". I made sure this version was looking in the correct folder.I loaded v19.0i and got the same result. I don't have ver.g or ver.h but ver.f had no problem loading them. However ver.f has a decal application crash and this is the only version that's availabl…

Hey everyone, Started a new personal project. A while back I did an illustration of a creature (which can be found here http://i.imgur.com/KS5Ki4l.jpg) and I decided it would be cool to make a near photo realistic version in Animation Master. Still have a long way to go, but here is my start after a few hours. Texturing has always been my weak point (at least on organic things) so it should be a good process. Anyway let me know what you think! Ben

Here's a quick still of my holiday animation so far; still working on the layout. It will all be "white" (or grayscale anyway), and the three candles shoot off like roman candles, then snow drifts down over everything. Hopefully it will go quick as I don't have a lot of time this year.

Well its time again for my annual student film. This year "turtles & dominos (or dominoes)" with a title still in the works. So far the story about a turtle who is finishing a large domino setup when his nephew is dropped over for a visit. Based on an encounter with my own nephew. The rules: as 2nd year students we are abided to.... - not exceed 3 min - allowed to have selective color - dialouge - sync sound A relatively up-to-date "nephew" wire render. Enjoy.

I saw a redesigned 1701 on the web created by a very talented Star Trek fan and wanted to recreate it in Animation Master. I'll have to find the original web site in order to credit the author, but for now I'm just gonna post my progress. I know it's been done upteen times, but I'm a space junkie and always wanted to try my hand at the old girl. Enjoy.

This is my newest character that will be starring in a short that I'm working on. I was going for a Pixar style of character, and he looks pretty close to me. But tell me what you think. His name's Ted. P.S. I'll post his wires as soon as I get the chance. Until then I'll be hard at work fitting his rig. P.P.S I also noticed after the render was complete that I did not run Gama conversion. The piece is probably light enough to avoid problems, but if there are any problems please say so.

Hello All, I wasn't going to post anything for quite some time on our developments or productions (and so on) but I couldn't wait to show you the beginnings of our developments on our short film. Mind you this is still a work in progress and there are a few things to tweak, add or modify. This is just a simple test of how the main character is coming along. The designs are mine but since I am not able to model due to lack of time and of course it would take me a hell of a lot longer then someone who actually eats, poops and sleeps modeling, I had to use the services of others. Special thanks goes to Stian Ervik Wahlvåg for offering up his skills on modeling…
