Here's a screen capture of the problem. I just can't seem to figure it out. As you can see the right bicep rotator is not orienting like the right bicep rotator target. I'm just wondering if anyone else is having this problem. I've tried it in versions 10.5, 11.0 and 11.1 and I get the same thing. Thanks.

This is a Problem-and-a-half. The main question is How to use Forces, the 'half' is 'Why Has My @#%* Snow Emmitter Stalled?' Starting with the 'half', it's a straightforward Streaks Material dropped onto a single-patch plane. It's worked before. Now, no matter what value I enter on the Y-axis the snow doesn't want to fall. The main question is how to employ Forces. I got a Force into the Objects Folder and then to Choreography. In its Properties, it looks like any light. I set the height and cone. In the PWS, Force looks like a vehicle for adding Turbulence. I chose Cell Turb and punched in some trial values. Am I on the right track here? Seems too simple. LANDSCAP…

Looking at Stians amazing truck model I got inspired to model a classic mid 60's Ford GT40. This is the first time I have even attempted at modeling a car so I am going to have a lot of questions. I downloaded some blue prints and did a quick once over on Xtaz's car modeling tutes as well. So far Here is a shot of a modern Ford GT I am using as a visual reference: I REALLY want to finish this model and not forget or lose interest in it. Photoman

As some of you know, I'm working on the SO sets. Adding trees to the sets are very time consuming. Creating assembly actions for each set and positioning the trees takes alot of time. Using hair to create forests, in most cases is not an option. So I needed to come up with another plan. Here I created a model with multiple trees (trees are basic at the moment). I then constrained the trees to the ground plane in the chor in a pose. Now I can drop this model (multiple times if needed) to create a forest. I can translate and rotate the base model and the trees will follow the terrain. I also have plans to add poses to scale the model and the individual trees. Here's an exam…

Ok, this is another image I started for the "mars" contest. But the art gig I was working on at the time did not allow me the time to finish it up to meet the contest deadline. So here is the "wip". Lots to still do.. like seaming the model together. The sphere in the bottom left is where his helmet goes. Comments always welcome. Thanks William

Hey guys, right around this time last year I had been working on these clips with grand visions in my head... next thing I know it's one year later and I had not even gotten back to it. This is the last thing I did on this particular clip. I know I showed it before, but I had never posted the clip with music that I put to it. I think I might try and get back on this over the next couple weeks.... anyhows, with the music, its about 5.5megs.... http://www.vrcops.com/Vids/ClimbSoundB.mov Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

Here's a WIP I have of an Industrial Fork Lift. The steering wheel turns the rear wheels, the mast tilts and the forks go up & down. I've got a LOT of work to do massaging the body to get the realism where I'd like it to be. Decaling would help a ton here as well. Technically the mast is telescoping (second and 3rd sections that extend as the forks move beyond the vertical limit of the lower mast section.... whew), but I haven't added those portions yet. I would also like to make the forks spread apart and come together (Real fork lifts have a shift function, to move the forks in tandem, left or right). If anyone is interested I can post the mod…

Hey Gang, After seeing all the Awesome stuff that Yves started on his Radiosity threads, I decided to mess around with a scene that I am working on. This is just the beginning, playing with the settings. I am certain that if I spend more time, I can get a better effect. I have 8 lights setup as Yves suggested (Cone Angle 180 degrees, 100% Width Softness) One exception is that the falloff doesn't touch any of the objects in the scene, except for the walls. I tried to move the lights closer together, but then the light was too concentrated in one spot. Should I be using more lights with smaller falloff?? I don't like the fact that the 55 gallon …

I was creating a ship awhile ago (the "Squid ship")..I hadn't finished texturing it or touching up the actions..but check this out...it's supposed to be a spaceship acting as a squid! Squid Push Note: to view you must right click>Save target As>save or Right click>Properties>Copy full address> Paste into address bar> hit go! What I did to achieve: I watch some vids of squids/octopuses and observed the movement and timing..I then took that information and put it into simpler terms (into a cartoony look ship)...If you notice, while the tentacles are going downward you see that they have a slight bend in them for the pressure of the wat…

A friend asked me to do a graphic for his Barbershop Quartet called "Four Aces" and this is what I came up with on the first attempt. Comments and Suggestions are welcome. The idea is the suits came from the cards that lay and stand in the background (that's the reason why the cards are missing their center suit graphic). http://www.wideopenwest.com/~johnjzsigo/Fo...1804%20crop.bmp --John Zsigo

Paul Harris of Scotia Publishing was looking for a modeller. http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6371 I suppose he found one, but I can't resist showing off my version with the reference image. Hope I don't cross any boundries here. ===================================================== It's not by any means a good likeness, but fair to close. I know he looks a bit older than the ref. I figure this is due to the elongation of the face and narrowing of the neck. The mesh needed more room for the mesh to be manipulated. The clothing is a bit too smooth, but I prefer not to deal with a dense mesh. At present the mesh is at 3044 patch count and sho…

As you will (not ) hear, the sound on this short is not done yet. The first 40 seconds or so is silent and the music has a click track running through it. At least its obvious that they weren't lifted from the original ! My friend is going to do that in the next few days... This is an assembly edit of the project. There are three versions of it. This one, one were the lights don't change colour and the camera moves a bit more, and one using a Toon render. The movements are the same in all of them, only the setting changes. The quality is not very good as its taken off a medium quality lower res version. The original is in 1080 HD and this is 320 x 240 three gene…

This is an entry for the most recent Animation Showdown at digitalrendering.com. As before, all animation was done in four hours. The topic, quoted from the forum moderator: "By any means necessary" became the basis for my joke. In this case, I wanted to test a new light rig, so I also (after the deadline) added an island, some not very convincing water, and a palm tree which managed to cast shadows in precisely the wrong place. The animation is unchanged, though. Tons of work would need to be done to make this worth watching, but it's in Showcase because, well, I'm not going to work on it anymore. Et voila: http://www.hash.com/users/zac…

Hi hashers! I would appreciate some comments on a animation i am working on. It is my first big practice in animating. The scene, the lighting and the camera are done and i have been working for a while on the characters. There are 3 musicians playing a 1 minute song. I feel i need some comments and advices to go on. It is an avi file compressed with Divx, and it is 12.4 M. I tried compressing to quick time but I get huge files. I guess i need advice on compression as well. http://www.cam.org/~mgigue/backyard.avi

Hey all, Since I've kind of already tipped my hand by showing an animatic, I thought I would share my progress 8 seconds in. As my schedule ramps up, I may decide to cut and run after the first scene (30 secs) is finished, rather than go for the special effects finale at the end of the big rant. Vegeta here is plenty ticked off throughout the sequence to fit the topic. I've been trying to nail down a lot of the skinning issues, and I'm not sure if the face needs more expression (there will be facial close-ups later to concentrate on, and in the framing, I don't know if details can be spotted). Let me know what you think: http://www.prism.gatech.edu/~…

I made an entry for the 10 Second Club at the end of February. Actually, part of the work was for the club, and part was for another project I'm working on. Anyway, the version that was submitted for the club contest was pretty good, but after getting a little feedback I made some improvements before posting it on my site. Here's the direct link: http://www.jb-av.com/anims/friendfordinner.mpg 1.24 MB, MPEG-1 Enjoy!

Three animations I have been playing with over the last couple of years in the gallery at http://members.optusnet.com.au/~s_bruce/index.html Its the first time I have thrown a web page up so hopefully it all works. They are all exercises I have used to learn AM for another project. Although I am tempted to do some shorts with the frog. The Aloevera flower spike is 2 models. The stem and a bud which is attached to it 80 times. Took a while to render but not as bad as the frog which averaged 2.5 hrs per frame. I did have the frog down to 30 minutes per frame using a multipass light rig but had some problems with artifacts on displacement maps so dropped b…

Hi I am trying to get back to animating again. I was messing around and did a few dance moves for my frogman today. Just a little thing but I haven't animated in a looooooong time. That will change though. I'm gonna get back to boot camp on Monday. Got some things to do before then. Then I will do work on TWO. Anyway, it feels good to move bones around again. This one is just for fun but feel free to rip at it. Edit: fixed feet through floor. frogman2.mov

Hi Someone requested a version of my Sig Frog that can talk. So I made a version with a moving mouth with phonemes. I also added moving and blinking eyes and rigged the fingers. This was fun to do. Attached is a movie of the frog doing the famous I've got a secret dialogue. There is a part where the left hand gets jittery. For some mysterious reaon the left hand flipped around on me at one frame. I checked the curves on the elbow and the hand and everything looked ok. I fixed it up with a few keyframes. I am using the 2001 rig from thom. I used IK arms. anyone know why this happened? Thanks for looking. Let me know what you think of the frog. frogsecr…

Trying something I usually don't do and that is modeling. I am posting a wireframe and shaded wireframe to help with my questions. This model will be animated and I was wondering if the normal rigs will work when there are no hand or mainly feet. And any potential trouble with the model ..I noticed that the arms could use another ring or two of splines....There will be no mouth only implied by the bouncing of the nose. And I have to add a tail. The skirt will be cloth. [attachmentid=18162] [attachmentid=18163] Thanks Johnl3d

I've reached the point were I need to learn how to use the function curves to edit the ease in and out after the keys have been set. This is something avoided for a long time but, have to learn some time. I have a figure hitting a tree top and that then bends down with the weight and force of impact. It bends over to the point were its going to snap back and launch him upwards. I'm reasonably happy with the keys but would like to adjust the curves so that there is a chance for the facial expressions to read. There are five bones on the tree. If I open up the graph editor which are the axis that I need to edit, x, y, or Z and what is it that needs to be adjus…

I got an idea the other day to make animations involving a bunch of animals. Its going to be a completely random set of clips of a bunch of different animals doing anything I have thought of. Me and my friend always come up with [what we think] are hilarious ideas and i figured i could implement them into an animal rather humans. So today I figured I would start with an animal and figure out a look of my own. And the original idea was to have them look Almost as if claymation but done in CG. hello there, i've been thinking of a project i have wanted to do for weeks, but i have my hands full, and i would like some help. there really isn't any "script" for this, but i do need models, at least models that have bones, color and textures (if possible). the project is about a studio that would have a little bit of everything in it, for example, there would be a floor for Animation Master, there would be a floor for Anime, there would be a floor for Bands, exe. and i thought, what if some of these characters from these different floors meet each other? would they understand each other? (Japanese: Anime vs. English) ? would they fight? would they make friends?…
