Ok, I don't know how I got started on this late at night, but we were reading Go, Dog, Go! It's always been one of my favorite books when I was a kid and I loved their cars. I thought it might be easy to model so here is what I came up with. First time playing with materials too. I'll want to play around with it some more later, make some rubber for the tires, seats in, steering wheel and grille, few other things. C&C welcome

Hello all! Well after having a break in modeling/animating I've started again. Now, this is only a fast begining on my spaceship/space fighter. I'd like some crit on the overall design. Not any patch problems. And might some sugestions for a paint job. And I've thought about this ship beeing a small fighter for a much larger carrier. How about that idea? //Korken

Hello friends I'm somehow "celebrating" my 1.year anniversary with A:M and 3D (actually its little past a year). And I have put together an demoreel (warning: use of cheesy transitions and music), that shows some of my projects. The continuity in the composition is pretty bad, and I should have rendered some of the models in a better choreography, but I haven't had the time (nor the knowledge ) Let me know what you think Direct link to the demoreel (.mov, 10MB, right click and select: "Save target as...") Here is the first shot of the new character I am working on. I borrowed NimmieAmmee eyes for the time being just to get placement. What I would like to do is build the character from concept, rig, texture and have you guys critique along the way. I will have updates this week. I hope you guys don't get bored with this caharacter. Steve

Hey guys, I did this animation about a week ago using AMv14. I've tweaked it as much as possible, but something feels like it could be better. Since it was a test animation for a bigger project, I may not do any more tweaks, but I would love suggestions to make the real thing the best it can be. Thanks. Justin NanoWar2.mov

I accidentally first posted this in the tutorial section ..so it is being re-posted here.. Hello- Does anyone know if Sprites can be effected by Forces? I haven't been able to get that to work... Question 2) Does anyone know if Sprites can be contained inside another shaped object once they are emitted? For example, once sprites are emitted, can they fill an invisible object so that as the sprties accumulate, a form takes shape? Here is a clip from the second Narnia movie that got me thinking about this effect. It appears there is a quick cut between the particles floating and the humanlike body that they become.. Thanks for any feedb…

Hi all I need some help on how to separate a photo into 2 parts and then, how to use the 2 new images with AM to create the effect of a model in the original photo. photo 1 An example would be of Victor Navone and his model in front of his computer. photo2 I have worked with Photoshop for several years but never messed with masks or alpha channels so does anyone know where I can find a simple tut. on how to separate the fence? Then to create a project in AM with 2 layers and my model?

I'm doing a "fly through a city" animation. Here's what I've got so far. There's going to be lots of motion blur and movement so these buildings don't have to be perfect, but am I missing anything obvious? Does anything stand out? I'd appreciate any comments. I'm thinking right now there's too many lights and the buildings need to be a little more varied. Thanks.

I thought I'd just share a current WIP of one of the characters for Red Squad. I seem to be getting closer to conquering facial texturing which I'm quite proud of I must say The problem with how I did it though was that I only had two angles so in the future I would get more angles out of the actors before creating their facial map

Ok. I needed to get my animation that I had started 1 year ago, off my plate so that I could move on. (Gawd. ONE YEAR AGO???...Are you serious?) One month ago, I noticed there was a music video contest advertised on Talenthouse.com, sponsored by the band The Cataracs, in which they were inviting people to animate to their little ditty "Undercover". The music "sorta" fit with Ida & Lothario's already started dance routine. The music clip was only 1 minute long. I had 45 secs or so already done. I missed the entry date by 1 day (confoooosion on my part, very confooosing due date for their contest which only got 6? entries). Boo Hiss Lame. BUT t…

Got a sudden inclination to give this object a try... First test render with a simple sphere and a simple decal. Can you guess what it is? (Science Fiction buffs probably will...) I purposely made the seam face the camera for me to make sure the decal is on there correctly. I DID cheat a bit. Found that cylindrical mapping gives smoother results near the poles. The trick is to spherical map first, screen capture and use the capture as a rotoscope for sizing the cylindrical decal placement.

A:M has been my main hobby for almost 19 years. (My oldest copy of the render module, render.exe, is dated Feb. 26, 1993). Over that time A:M has improved and I've learned a lot about modeling, texturing, lighting and observing the real world. Now that I'm getting comfortable with my new hardware, Win7_64 and v16 I've decided to go through every one of my models to bring them to a consistent level of craftsmanship. The first model to get an upgrade is the brick facade of a warehouse-like building. I don't usually keep old renders but in this case I have the warehouse from: 2001 - Toonation Brick Plug-in, simple lighting model, procedural sky, incredible day-glow colo…

Started a project to test a working process. The narrative premise is a bit corny but, it was the working process I wanted to find out about. The basic idea is that the ingredients of a cake mix, indulge in a dance off before jumping in the bowl ready for mixing. What I wanted to do was to animate and render it in AM, but then work over the top in TVpaint so it looked hand drawn, in a cg setting, so as to get a mix of visual styles in the same piece of work. I've encountered some problems along the way but will cover them later. This was the first test, hand drawn, no references. decided it changed volume too much so needed to use AM to avoid that, Line Test 001.m…

Taking a short break from organics and characters. I'm trying to work out some architecture now. Here's the dome for a cathedral. Fair quick to model using extrude and duplicate in several ways. The texture is a small patch-image, not intended to be definitive. This is the result of some 1 hour work so far. Comments welcome!!! Emilio Le Roux Mosca Films

Hey there, I just finished this animation for the Art of Animation Tutorial. I first did the lipsync (manually...I didn't really like the results from the dopesheet) and then did the rest of the animation in the Choreography. Here is the Hi-res version (about 3MB). Kee Kat Secret Hi-Res And a lower res version (250kb). Kee Kat's Secret I really want critiques/comments on how to make it better. I feel like I am at a point where I can make the characters "move around" but I want to start getting to where I can really make them have a believable performance. Any help is appreciated. Here is the link to the basic lipsync animation...the…

Well, Daleks outside the house, at any rate. Still have a lot of texturing work to do, but I thought I'd throw this up there for commentary, especially from other Dr. Who fans about how I can improve the shape. The plunger arm does extend, though I forgot to show it here. Click on the image for a much larger version.

After some tinkering with the SDK I have come up with something that might be useful to at least someone. The plugin has a lot of parameters to tweak and although they have rather informative names I guess it might be hard without any help. When I find time for it, I'll make some example projects to get you started. Please note that this is a time limited beta version. When it expires in a couple of months a message will be shown when you start up A:M. The message will stop showing when you uninstall the plugin or upgrade. Also note that this is a rather simple procedural texture plugin and nothing that is capable of producing photo realistic effects. At le…

This is an outgrowth of an idea I originally floated in this post on the SDK forum. My objective is to create a sphere of randomly distributed stars 10 km in radius, where each star is a one-patch object with a diameter randomly ranging from 7.5 to 30 m. I also want to be able to control the size of all stars simultaneously with a pose slider, to ensure that the stars will always be rendered at about one pixel regardless of the resolution of the render or the focal length of the camera. After Yves put me on the track of a bones-based solution, I first tried to implement this idea in which each star has two bones, one to position it randomly and one to scale it, but…

I bought A:M at Macworld a few years ago, and have just recently really started putting it through its paces. This after having graduated from Amorphium 1.0. So, after a few started and abandoned projects, I decided to build an iMac G5. I went all out and actually finished this one. Doing so helped me learn a lot of shortcuts and techniques, such as material creation and Boolean cutters. Have a look and tell me what you think. I've posted a movie of the iMac spinning on a mirror on my iDisk, along with the project and all its resources so you can see what I did. I apologize in advance for the 5 or so Boolean cutters that I should have modeled in, but it seems to have work…

Animation was done by a slew of people, including David Higgins, Robert Holmen, Paul Forwood, Gregg Wren, Ed Lynch, Alonso Soriano and myself. We designed and built the game in …

Well its time again for my annual student film. This year "turtles & dominos (or dominoes)" with a title still in the works. So far the story about a turtle who is finishing a large domino setup when his nephew is dropped over for a visit. Based on an encounter with my own nephew. The rules: as 2nd year students we are abided to.... - not exceed 3 min - allowed to have selective color - dialouge - sync sound A relatively up-to-date "nephew" wire render. Enjoy.

Hi I spent the last few days messing around with froggy wild west shoot out. This is just the humble beginnings. This is nowhere near the final level. The buildings will not be all the same texture and height. They are just there for my basic layout. I have a start on the stable and the general store though. I will need to make tons of props and stuff. My friend jin kazama is going to help me out. I'm gonna spend the rest of the week in torque working on the two game. I will do more to froggy shoot out on the weekend and keep you updated. Here's the wmv at 2.5 mb: http://www.3dfrog.com/wips/froggyshootout/herbieblast4.wmv Thanks

Hi I am working on something for fathers Day. I want to make an animation of my dad playing conga drums and singing babaloo if I can finish it in time. My friend jin kazama is making the conga drums. I started the head today. I was just gonna make a simple round head and put glasses and hair on it but my friend jin kazama encouraged me to push it more and I'm glad he did, I am happy with how it's coming. I should be busy learning a software package right now but I wanted to do this. Attached is the head. I will update later.

[attachmentid=18147]Hello, Here's a cave for a short film I'm working on. It doesn't look quite right to me for some reason. I had shaded it with the darktree shaders, but they take forever to render on my laptop, and I temporarily uninstalled them. What do you think? I seem to remember it looking better with the shaders ( I am using clay shaders, combined with some of the other materials). I wanted the main characters to have a "claymated" look, however, I am not sure that is appropriate for every prop / item in the film. Would you stick completely with the clay look, or have clay characters in a semi-photoreal environment? I ask becaus…
