I set aside the Fish Project for a week or so and worked on other stuff. I had the Pose Sliders all built and ready for a sound file. When I opened the .prj today, none of the sliders worked. These three were the worst. The teeth, and tongue, which were to show briefly on TH and FV were the worst, moving out through the mesh. In all of them, the lower jaw worked very little-to-none-at-all. This is major discouragement. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi all, This has been driving me nuts, The smudge on the forhead is only showing here. when I render the model, it goes away. Any ideas? Something to do with a 5 point patch? It's happening on both sides.

Here's a progress video of the character in my avatar which I'm making for a project I'm working on. The head in the first frame is from a character I made previously so, this character grew out of that one. There aren't as many steps as I'd like but it's all the models I have. The original concept was inspired by a sketch. testbrat.wmv

Ok here is a very quick animation test of what will hopefully be a stampede of buffalo. Right now everything is in sync but this is just a test of dust kicking up, the render was not a final but shaded with particles. The project Im working on is a music video of a song I wrote with a little help from a friend in the UK. The song titled "Buffalo Song" is about the slaughter of the American Buffalo / Bison. Mov file appx 2 mb P.S. Im looking for a version 13 (and latest release of) of A:M obviously used is fine, I eventually want a collection of ALL A:M releases, even when it was not called A:M.... Thanks, Mike Dust_test_3_Buffalo.mov

This was just a quickie project for a client that took about 2 hours. Not the most exciting thing, but I thought I would post any way. I just created one action of the ball going through the tube and repeated it 12 times. Anyway, again kind of boring, but he needed it for a presentation. Howdy All' So I'm working on a project where I need to simulate sand pouring out into a heap on the ground. Do any of you have a good suggestion as to how best to approach this in Hash? It doesn't necessarily have to look ultra realistic. But the more real the better. Any suggestions. I though of using a combination of dust, animated mesh and particles somehow. But I'm not sure how easy that would be. Is it possible to thicken and texture the fluid system in hash to serve this purpose?

I have created a new little character mainly for the purpose of practicing rigging and animating. i am going to make a music video eventually with this guy using the song Tonto, Jump On It! but i am still rigging him right now. i have used the 2001 Skeletal rig and i still have a little touching up to do for some small points that are a little out of place. but its the best i have done. i never have rigged a human before. nor made one. i need to know how to use the target things. the cubes for like the feet targets and the hip/pelvis cube mover. if i could rig these it would make my animating alot smoother and easier. so if someone could point me in t…

Thank you to all who voted for my image. I'm happy for the win with such stiff competition. This one was a lot of fun to make and was actually based on an old abandoned market I had seen in the Arizona desert. Below you can see the pic of the original mart and a wireframe of my model. Crits, comments, and questions are always welcome.

Hello - I created another character for my site - basically for modeling and animating practice. Also, wanted to play around w/ using a decal to control the "hair" color. Anyway, how it turned into a boxing Meerkat, I'm not sure, but it did. He is the 3rd character over from the left on the bottom row. Thanks - Eric www.3dcharacteranimation.biz

Alright in the past 2 days i have modeled this. i think i spent more time then i should have. but it doesnt matter cause i like how it turned out. but i think it could be better if i just knew how to make better lighting. i dont know though. so if you have any tips about lighting. how i should light it up. or any things you think should be changed its all being taken. i wanna know what yall think.. my intentions are to enter it in the heros image contest when the time comes. i expected it to take longer then it did.

Hyello- Martin recently was mentioning the strengths of copy/pasting body parts to make your own characters. Not only is this a great way to learn but it is a speedy way to get custom characters on demand. The other day I did a test for a potential diet supplement advert where a woman who has 'recieved the benefits' of the diet supplement would be the central character in the spot. My potential clients needed a 'mock-up' for a meeting so they could sell their concept, and 'theoretically' if I made the art I would get the gig... (doesn't always work that way...) They initially wanted a 2D traditional animated character, but liked the idea of a 2D/3D look. I used …

I've been working on this off and on for a while, a few hours making weeks letting it sit around, and really want it to look good. It is a Temple like design loosely based on Greek/Roman style. Will be made of marble. However my materials turn out too unrealistic and I need some help. Also in its final form it will be atop a hill/mountain to and I don't know if it would look better new or ruinous. So basically any help would be nice.

Hey folks. As a way to help re-learn A:M, I decided to model the U.S.S. Enterprise from the original Star Trek series. There are so many things that I forgot how to do over the past few months, that there is a lot of trial and error going on here. Slowly coming back though... Bought a WWI flying game a few months ago. Given my weakness for flying things, it spills over into A:M. Got an itch to play with Hansa-Brandenburgs...here's the result. On Dec.11, 1917 a flight of three W-12s led by ObLtn. Friedrich Christiansen, was on the homeward leg of their patrol. Nearing the coast, the No.3 plane, the 'Tail-End Charley', spoted an Asta-Torres airship and dove to the attack. Christiansen and his other wingman turned back to join in, but by the time they arrived it was burning. Neither plane could add much to the process as the C27 was already going down. Being Flt. Leader, Christiansen claimed the kill, and it was confirmed. After the war, in …

Just a small question. I tried earlier and wondered why I couldn't upload a movie of 9 seconds I made with the animation Master. The first time, some months ago, I thought it was my computer with virussscanner and firewall. Now I tried again and I can only fill in the description, and then I come to the thumbnail page. I can push any button, nothing happens. Is it my computer or is it the protected area I'm bouncing on? Not that I worry that much, but I thought I would let you know. Thanks, MadFox.

This time I have a pretty unusual question. Its somehow from the field of packaging design. I have to prepare an existing circleshaped 2D illustration to be able to be glued onto a reallife halfsphere smoothly. So it will have to be distorted somehow and I wonder if AM could help me here to find out how this distortion will have to look like and/or how it can be achieved. Has anybody ever done something like that? Any ideas that could be helpfull?

Hi! Been a while since Ive done anything major in A:M. So I wanted to once again expand my modeling skills. So to do that I decided I want to model my camera (At least my digital one ). My camera is a Canon Rebel XT. The lens I will model with it will probably be my Sigma 15-30mm F/3.5-5.6, which is a big lens. Eventually I want to model all my camera gear (Film cameras, all my lens, flashes, tripod, etc). I just started the process, the model is in its very rough stages right now: I will post an AO render when there is enough to look good Photoman

I've set myself a challenge tonight. I'd like to see if I can go from sketch to usable character in two hours. The character is a Maxwell -- a sort of demon, or imp, based roughly on child proportions. At the end of two hours, I'd like to have: Produced front and side sketches Scanned them as rotoscopes Modelled the character Added the 2001 Rig Textured vinyl-like wrinkles where the skin bends in certain places This won't be a full-screen character, and a lot of fine detail would be eaten up by the noise I'll have to add to the final layout. (I'll ultimately be building a scene around a noisy, low-light photoshoot.) I'll check in tonight at 10:00, …

So, I'm kinda fiddling around with some stuff working on this concept of a project, and what I'm working with is fire, namely my hands on fire. The hand model I'm using is the one that came on the Extras CD, so it doesn't exactly fit my hand, but it helps some, but a real hand model that fits may be in order, but yeah: shot1.mov

A long time ago I seem to remember a thread that talked about blurring an object in motion. The trick was to have the middle to back of the object blurred with a trail in it's wake, but the front of the object was not blurred. Imagine a car or plane or fist in motion with the leading edge in focus and blurring the image as it goes by. I hope I'm explaining this right? MUFOOF may have been used, but I don't recall. Does anyone remember how to do this? Here is a pic that shows what I mean: Front relatively in focus as the rear blurs out inot the blurry background.

I'm working on an illustration of spin networks in Loop Quantum Gravity, a theory of quantum gravity that seems to be making substantially better progress than String Theory lately. (It is still in the realm of speculation so far, though, just as String Theory is...). The basic idea is to quantize space-time. The result is very much like a "foam" in certain respects (as John Archibald Wheeler first imagined it might be). So...I'm working on a visual model of the foam to help illustrate the basic ideas and principles developed so far. The quantized space is essentially like grains of space packed together like bubbles in a foam. It turns out the two most impo…

Hello - I know there is a "particle system /hair" that can simulate curls however for a variety of reasons I am attempting to create curly hair using a different method. If you look at the attached image you will see a "simple straight object" and then you will see a "twisted version" of that straight object. If I was just going to create hair using the straight model, I could easily assign a color to the object and then use a transparency map to simulate strands. I can't really apply a transparency map to the twisted version so I figure I will need to assign a Material to the twisted object. The only problem is my skills are weak at creating a materi…

I am just asking for some killer bugeyes like I use. But much better. lol just the eyes. and eyelids. Thanks! Gene P.S. this is gonna be interesting if anyone does it.

Hi folks, In order to distract me from my lightingtests, I did this version of the Nibelung Ring, that Alberich forged out of the Rheingold which he had stolen from the Rheintöchter (mermaids). This Ring grants him the greatest powers (worldreign and so on ), but at the same time curses him to live without love forever. The curse is symbolized by the dragon Fafnir devouring himself out of greed. Besides of its incredible magical power, this ring holds some additonal close combat weaponery: a poisonous sting and some extractable razorsharp (mermaids) fins. http://www.jostkeller.de/dreid/testing/Rhe...dRing111011.zip Crits welcome

I did the Flying South tutorial and added a fire and character. When i render in 3d it looks like it should, but if i render in 2d part of my flock flys into an area that lightens the color of the birds. I've attached a still shot of a few birds towards the top of the screen in an area affected by both the lighter and darker. Does anyone have an idea what could be causing the lightening of my birds? I've also attached the project. Thank You Jeff flying_south14.prj

Still plugging away on the blockhead figures. This is the most recent animation test. You'll spot its intention... I begin to realise that I am hitting my limits as an actor ( and the threshold was low to start with ) so I may start to take lessons accordingly. Any feedback on the animation would be most welcomeTest.mov. For me the biggest problem is the mouth shapes. The style of mouth chosen does not permit of enough variety of shapes so I will have to work on that. On a related question to that. It is possible to paste parts of one model into another, eg an ear or eye but, is it possible to paste the mouth poses of one into another if the style …
