I am relatively new to modeling. I think the 1951 Mercury might be good for a start. This is the most original and unmodified pic I have found yet: As for this one, Cool but NO NO, it's been modified: ANYHOW, anyone got Rotoscopes for the side and back of a Mercury before I start modeling... .

Hi guys I just want to show a small client project I have been working on. I have not put much work into the texturing and shading since it was not necessary. The model might not be proportionally correct since I only had photos to work with. Let me know what you think Best regards Stian

Hello All, This is my first attempt at a car model. It's more a study to see if I can model low poly vehicles quickly for use in real time simulations in Dark Basic Pro. I've got a good workflow going converting from A:M to .X, by way of exporting as an .obj, then opening and texturing in Ultimate Unwrap, and using UU's .x exporter. This model is "loosley" based on the RX-7, and, I didn't quite get all the lines, but, I just want to know if I'm heading in the right direction. Its just the body now, all in one piece. I'm not trying to get every little detail, because for realtime it would be just too many polys. Mostly, it would be nice to get the basic shapes of ca…

Hey guys, so eventually I want to make an action type short animation with the models I've made and I figure I have to get good at action type animation between 2 or more characters. Well, I couldn't sleep last night so I figured I'd burn off the energy by getting started on some excersizes. I'm certainly in no way happy about the outcome, but I figure I'd share as I always seem to get some good feedback from everyone here. What I did, in a nutshell, I created a bouncing fighter stance for each character and then cycled it until the punches start getting thrown. I noticed during animation that it is sort of tuff to show the effects of quick little act…

Heres the model zipped - instead of posting vague pics of splines. [And I owe you an appology "Mage" because it seemed like you were gripe-ing, (below reply), when it turns out you werent.] h2.zip Well, I was trying to spline off a picture of the Hunter Model. Obviously its gunna take alot more work and understanding. Not much to work with other than a side view as a reference. The Hunter model has such a minimal amout of splines, yet its cleverly done using bias tweaks. And plus theres only a couple hooks, which are hard to figure where they are splined off of? I tried to take snapshots off the Hunter videos of the wireframes, but the quality only gives minimal h…

Hi all, I am new to 3d software period. AM is the software I plan to learn with and I just started to understand the modeling aspects of the software. This is a screen shot of a rotoscope of my head that I did this weekend. I am still learning to decal and have had limited success as I take the selected "face" into a pose window but cant for the life of me figure out how to flatten it to decal it but I'll get it. I have about 12 hrs on this one and suspect the spline count is too high and need to work on the spline connections at the nostrils and corners of the mouth but am still very happy that it actually looks like a face. I am used to clay and paint but this is addict…

Just got V12.0 AM 2006 today and thought I'd see ii it feels any different than V11 2004. Modelling feels about the same but so far no gliches. I had out of memory issues with 11 so have been using 10.5. V12 appears to be a bit more comfortable although I have had no bad experiences with modelling in the earlier versions. I decided for my 1st model I would try to build my friends car. A 66 Malibu SS which I took pic's of for roto's about a year ago and also did some airbrush work on the car when he built it. Lot's of tweaking and fabricating to go as I plan to build the complete car and haven't done much mechanical modelling. I've seen some really nice car's built in this…

I've set myself a challenge tonight. I'd like to see if I can go from sketch to usable character in two hours. The character is a Maxwell -- a sort of demon, or imp, based roughly on child proportions. At the end of two hours, I'd like to have: Produced front and side sketches Scanned them as rotoscopes Modelled the character Added the 2001 Rig Textured vinyl-like wrinkles where the skin bends in certain places This won't be a full-screen character, and a lot of fine detail would be eaten up by the noise I'll have to add to the final layout. (I'll ultimately be building a scene around a noisy, low-light photoshoot.) I'll check in tonight at 10:00, …

It's been a while since I've done any real modelling in A:M. Stian's Cathedral and Eric's Nautilus and Millenium Falcon have inspired me to give it a go again (that and the carpal tunnel is doing pretty good right now). I had modelled the Discovery from 2001 - A Space Odyssey in a poly modelling program a while ago, and thought it would be great to get back into modelling in A:M with. So, here goes nothing... 2001 is one of my all time favorite Sci-fi films. It even still looks great watching it today. I first created an 'inner hull' sphere. It is relatively low in patches, as most of it won't even been seen. Next, I created a very high patch (over 4…

Here is one more model from the movie 2001 - A Space Odyssey. It is the Moonbus, used to ferry the scientific team from the Clavius moonbase out to the Tycho crater where the monolith was found. I remember having the Aurora plastic kit of it when I was in my teens. Found some blueprints for the moonbus, as well as some excellent photographs of master model builder Martin Bower building a studio sized model. Al

Recent YouTube wanderings led me to some videos about 2001, the making of the Star Gate sequence, and so on, which got me thinking… 2001 is among my all-time favorite movies. It is film qua film, not merely a novel thrown up on the screen. I saw 2001 at the Cinerama Theater in LA in 1968, with my college comrade and long-time friend, the late Robert Blalack, who received the VFX Oscar for Star Wars (1977). To say that we were mind-blown would be the understatement of understatements. These days, movie editing programs and software packages usually have some form of the slit-scan effect in their bags of tricks. But why use them when I might be able to re-crea…

Every year I create a new set of images of one of my nekosei girls to host my website. An image for the spash page, an image where just the girl is used as the background for the menu, and a special naughty image that is hidden somewhere in the site along with the complete menu image. This year I worked on getting these images made in Animation Master, and I feel they are finally finished. I am extremely pleased how these have turned out. Note: The taller images (which are the hidden ones) are shrunken in size by 50%. Gotta give you a reason to search the site how don't I? I also create a signature to use on the various forums I go to advertising…

Here's a preliminary test of one segment of the Christmas animation I'll be doing for the company where I work. This bit will come at the very end but I wanted to get it done early to make sure it would work. This is the material that's being interfered with by the model surface settings that I mentioned in the A:M v15 forum. the colors as they show here aren't the way they're supposed to look. I expect to get that fixed eventually. gifttransformtest_h264.mov

It's traditional to make New Years resolutions around this time of year (or perhaps sooner). So I want to know ... What do you plan on working on with Animation:Master in 2010? What do you want to accomplish with A:M this year? If you specify a big project ("I want to make a 5 minute animation"), break it down into chunks (write a script, design characters, model characters, rig characters, model sets and props, record voices and sound effects, blocking animation, etc.). One problem with New Years resolutions is not dedicating the time. So how much time do you plan on spending on Animation:Master?

Hello, It 2011 and V16.0 coming up I'm going to open a mascot contest. The dead line will be 01/31/2011 and voting will began soon after that and last about 2 weeks. You cane mail all data and entries to support@hash.com. We have some siggraph Hash, Inc. jackets that we can give out to the winners if they would like them. Rules: 1). All entries must be modeled and rendered in A:M. Third party paint programs like Photoshop can be used for painting texture decals 2). The images will be 480X640 in the splash screen, But i would like a image at least 1440x1920 so we have a high rez version for promo items and poster. 3). I will also need a render if just the c…

Hello - been working on a second tooth animation for my dentist client, the first one was the Veneers. This second one was much more challenging, I had to set up several pose sliders to get the different effects. The most interesting part was creating the "impression" which is like a lump of clay on a mouthpiece that goes in the mouth - then having it pull out w/ an impression of the teeth in the clay. Anyway, here it is if anyone is curious. It's on my site - the lower center under section "2D & 3D Flash Demonstations" - it's the first one just click on "VIEW" http://www.flashanimationwebsitedesign.com/ Thanks for all the help from my posts - Eric

I was checking out nimblepix previous avatar a while ago and came up with this walk cycle. I have three actions on a character in a chor but the last action inside the chor does not match the actual animation inside the action. It is one of a kid putting a flashlite on a chair and the flashlite is constrained to the left hand until it gets placed on the chair. In the chor the hand is in a different position after he lets go of the flashlite than it is in the action. How can I fix this?

http://www.gentlechifitness.com/new_page_10.htm I got word that I can disclosed this, and it was a paid assignment, yee haw! I hope to animate this someday. I have kind of been animating this on the side to make sure it works. This was kind of a fun character to make. Its a compound bow, a fishing rod, and a shotgun. What thought went into how to make a inanimate object to life? It was a task and challenge that I love doing. I wasn't expected to even discern the sex of the object?

Hey, Here is a 3 segment shot I just rendered out. (about 5Mb) http://www.dustinproductions.com/files/Dustin-3-views.m1v It shows the same virtual scene from 3 different angles (actually this is the first time I have been able to get more than one camera in a live action environment to work). Of course after is been rendered I see all kinds of flaws, but knowing the keen eye here on the forum, I thought ya'll could tear it apart for me and point out the things to fix. Things I know are wrong. 1. Truck is too large 2. Car is too small. 3. Too much lean on the car going through the corner. 4. Seems to be on small deviation in the path (horizontal)…

I had made a request a few days ago if someone could create a film canister for me. I wanted to create a logo for a program I write. Well, PixelPlucker created one for me: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=40098 So i have to give him credit for 90% of the modeling. I did modify a few thing on the roll and mapped a couple of decal. This is what I have right now. It is still not the finished product. I have not used Hash in the past 7 years so I need to relearn quite a few thing. A lot different than Journeyman on my amiga in 1990 !!! Pierre

Well, it has been a busy quarter, and it was spent mostly building a scale model - no, not a digital one, a real one - of a sort of military interplanetary outpost. In order to utilize the footage shot of the model, I built a digital landscape (the group responsible for the model landscape utterly failed at building it) in a nameless Other Software package that specializes in landscapes. However, just a pretty picture won't do, so I brought a robot model I built in yet another Other Software package into A:M, rigged it, re-textured it, and now it looks ten times better than the original ever did. The animating & rigging is going to be a bit of a challenge, since t…

Hi Fellow A:M users, I have another model I'm working on, which is based on a real life guy. A few months ago, I found out about this Kiss-Like Japanese Metal/Rock band called Seikima-II (Disbanded 1999). I really liked the band and descided to do a 3D model on lead singer Demon Kogure. here are some images. I have to work on the hair later. His hair is suppose to be spikey. I was thinking of using hair particles, but found it too difficult to control. I'm going to try to texture the hair instead. The armor still needs work. This time I have a pretty unusual question. Its somehow from the field of packaging design. I have to prepare an existing circleshaped 2D illustration to be able to be glued onto a reallife halfsphere smoothly. So it will have to be distorted somehow and I wonder if AM could help me here to find out how this distortion will have to look like and/or how it can be achieved. Has anybody ever done something like that? Any ideas that could be helpfull?
