I am currently working on a pin-up for a Heavy Metal style magzine in the UK called "Event Horizon" from Mamtor Press. It's got great work from Liam Sharpe, Glen Fabry, Steve Niles, Brian Holguin, Ash Wood, and many others. I am working on a female android called Gail from one of the prose stories in the book. She's a sex android that gains awareness and uses her "talents" as a spy and a thief. Definately not one for the kiddies. Here is a WIP of the progress so far. I am tweaking the clothes and next up is a totally different hairstlye and more texture mapping (more seams like in her legs, and android things so she's not so human) Based on the La…

Hi guys, I just wanted to show you my latest little project I was working on for the weekend. In 3dArtist (issue 20) there was a really amazing image of a very photoreal ladybug. I tried to archieve the same photorealism but could not archieve that till now. Anyway I think the result is still quite good and I wanted to show it to you guys. If someone of you can give me a few tips on how to make it look even more real, let me know... I would be happy to hear about it! I attached a preview-rendering and an wireframe of the scene. Hope you like it... Critiques are welcome! See you *Fuchur* PS: Just found the artist's website the image was fro…

** EDIT: 4/8/04, update has been posted on page 3.** Hey there, folkses. I'm making strides in my first big Hash project. The modeling for my merman character is nearly complete -- by complete I mean "all parts are there", not "perfect". I doubt I'll ever get it to that point. Anyhow, I want to make sure the proportions and overall look strike people well. Once I fine-tune that, I'll start decimating unnecessary splines and then -- *gasp* -- texturemap it. I know the bottom of the tail ends a bit ... flat. I'll fix that. Thanks! --Ross

I have modeled a bicycle card and the main reason I did such a simple model is because I want to study the physics of true animation. So, what you'll see below is an animation of a card fluttering down to the ground (hard to see where the ground is, but the card hits the ground at the end). Critiques would be much appreciated... (Note: Due to angelfire privacy, you must right click on the link, hit properties and copy the full address in the box. Then push ok and paste the address in the address bar) Card Flutter test

Here is my WIP. I have decided to model her face only and have planned to UVmap for her texture. The only bad part is that I only have her front view image not the side view. Just would like to try my best. CHEERS!

This is more of a spline doodle than a WiP. I started splining without any goal in mind and the next thing I knew I was modeling Tin Woodman. For the animation portion (if you can really call it that) I was focused on two primary things; what expression could I make with solid shapes that don't articulate (i.e. how much squash and stretch could I get with shapes that don't change) and could I get a part of his neck design to double as a hint of lower teeth when his mouth opened to a full extent. The basic splining followed an attempt to distill Tin Woodman down to the fewest lines possible for easy of drawing (primarily for storyboarding) that I never ended up us…

Hey, all. Been working on a face for a while. For some reason, all of a sudden, in shaded mode (with or without wireframe), the model looks as though it's gone into peak mode, bias handles don't work, and I can't figure out what I did to it. Wireframe mode, however, is smooth. Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks. Rich

Anybody know why this is rendering the way it is? I am just trying to render out a wireframe version of a football stadium I built and it has started looking all weird. I rendered one out like a day ago at 320x240 and it looked fine...now I'm not sure what the problem is. Any ideas? Edit: I just tried rendering it out again at 320x240 and it seems to work fine. It is just when I try a larger resolution (D1, DV etc.) that I get the weirdness in the rendering artifacts... Does this help? I am trying to get it rendered out today for a job so any help is appreciated! :-)

It's been a looong time since I created anything remotely good in AM, even longer since I posted anything. So I decided to get back into it and create a new character. I've never been good at creating realistic people, so I am creating a cartoony style wizard. Here's the first WIP shot of the head:

yeah, it sounds crazy, but i guess it's worth a shot. i am trying to create wolfs, specifically wolfs from the anime Wolf's Rain. for now i am going to start with Kiba (the white wolf), so far i made an "outline" of him from these images: ... i am beginning with the nose, then up the face. however, i might need some tips like how to model a wolf's mouth and the eyes. here is what i have so far in wireframe: hope you like it so far, even though it sucks

I've been meaning to make wolverine for a while now. He was and still is my favorite character from X-men. The version I'm doing is the one from the old X-men arcade series. Definately one of the best arcade games. Anyways, I started on him last night and this is where I am today. Comments and Crits are appreciated! Thanks! Later- Lazz

Okay, so I happened to come upon a picture of this action figure of Wolverine and decided that it really needed to be modeled Here's the torso so far... [attachmentid=22727] again I really want to get that cool look that Blur studio gets. Is that kind of look achievable for A:M? What do you think? Lee

If your familiar with the work of J. scott Cambell (Gen 13, Danger Girl) Then hopefully you'll recognize my inspiration for this type of toon render. Wonder Woman was just the first superhero I thought to model (most likely becuase of all the chat about the movies, which is on again off again, then justice league, which is on again off again). Anyway, I'm posting because I was hoping for some feedback (as well as someone to tell me I'm not wasting my time). About the model... everything i learned and applied here came from Demented3D's tutorials.. so props to that genius of a man! Everything is toon renedered and surfaced colored with gradients. The only decals …

Wookie Dance This just uses the same .bvh mocap ZachBG posted in the resuable motion forum. Since it worked with 2001 skeletons I just had to try it out on the wookie. It's not perfect (the arm passes through his face/body a couple times) but this is about the best I've been able to get hair to render in an animation. Plus a wookie dancing to some MJ is just plain funny. Kevin

I think I finally worked out the secret to modelling in A:M. There is no way to model in A:M. Or to be more precise there is no ONE way to model in A:M. When I grasped that it finally hit me. I can do the characters I want to do. There are still some issues with this model but its becoming clearer now. (Is this post less whiney for you? eh eh . JOKING) Cheers Mike R

Haven't posted a new project in a long time. This is what I am currently working on. It is a scale layout of one of the workcenters where I work. I made some significant layout changes in this area about 4 months ago and I wanted to be able to demonstrate the differences. Taking pictures was not doing the trick. This is the new layout. All of the components are the same for the old layout it was just different. A couple of notes: Nothing is bevelled. I do not intend to get much closer than what is shown in this shot so I didn't want to waste the time modelling and subsequently rendering bevelled parts. As a result, all of the various components are extremely pr…

This is my first fully rigged character in AM. His name is Murphy and he presently has 25 facial morph targets with 3 more to add. This was an exercise to see what AM could do as I usually use Blender,Maya, and Max. I'm going to do some animation shots at the end of this week.

Its going to be a 3D version of a German comic character: Die kleine Gruftschlampe. I am in touch with the creator Tikwa and doing a full 3d version of that character. I am not able to post a full picture of the character yet, but just google it. So far I did the cloth. Rendering is done in two steps: One regular render and one toon lines only render which gets layered onto the standard render. Cheers Heiner

I've been working on a face-criticism with proportion is needed because I've been working without a rotoscope or a tutorial. Small crease points may be dense and random becuase of stray and largly cross sectioned splines. Wireframe and shaded are posted conglomerously. gif.bmp

Hi all, most of the time i use "am" like "mm" (modelling master), but now i want to dive in the great see of animation. I know it will be hard, but i hope do go to it. It took quite awhile to build an character i would like to animate. Now he is nearly finished, waiting to be rigged and i want to show him to you, wondering what you are thinking about this little fellow. Comments of any kind (no God please) are welcome. I found the face to this model while cleaning up my e-mail. I used the low patch body that serq2 provided to the forum and the hands and arms of the witch model from t.w.o. I also used some teeth off of a model from the cd (Ms Goodbody?). I dont remember where I got the ear from. Pretty much a lot of different body parts stitched together. Used quite a bit of porcelain as a result
