Hi guys, just wanted to show a WIP of my latest try to create a realistic girl character. I am quite happy with it, so there are a few problems I want to address before going on. Hope you like it! Let me know what you think! *Fuchur* realistic_head_model.mp4

Hey Everyone!!!! I finally completed and published my latest "Lego" themed Animated Film on my Youtube channel. As many of you know, I have been working on these for some time now. The First 3 Days are very important as to how it is received by the public. If you get a chance, it would really help me out to get a view or two. I appreciate all of my A:M friends and their support. All animation and effects done in A:M and After Effects!!! I did use a few elements from Lumion, but only a small bit. Here is the Link: xhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1r9J3JAmUs Very Warm Thanks, Kevin

Hi, I've been planning to complete several projects in AM but I can't seem to get things rolling at a good pace. So I figured that if I post some WIPs I might be spurred along by the forum and eventually complete something. I usually have a few things going on at once so its a little difficult to concentrate on one project through to completion. I will try to change that for the new year. Hopefully I can find some success by doing this. The project I'm currently working on is fairly complex with numerous characters and a very detailed background with lots of action. It will be a still. I am doing this only for my own amusement, especially since it would probably be ea…

QT - Sorenson3 - 3.6mb - 46 seconds This is the final version of the "War of the Worlds" clip I've been working one. It's finished, though there are a few transitions and holds that I'd still like to sweeten up so I suppose it's really FFN (fine for now). A big thanks to everyone that's followed, inspired and advised on the WIP thread. I've written a tutorial on Proxy models off of the back of it, so it's been a worth while experience.

Hey all, I've been tinkering with this model for a few days and got some good mechanical pieces done. I've hidden all the modeled machined areas and am in the process of animating the machining steps to make the real thing. So, just for fun, here is the first step. Drilling a 3/8" hole in the end of some acrylic. I have to make the material semi-transparent with some translucency to duplicate clear acrylic yet, but you get the idea. The yellow area at the tip of the bit is the particle emitter for the chips and is animating the emission rate. Also, the chips are just square sprites. This was rendered with six Netrender nodes on my design machine in a p…

Here is a screen grab of the formula you need. The way I set it up is with 2 bones, one has the geometry (bone 2) and the other has the expression (bone 1). The expression is in an on/off pose for bone 1. Bone 2 has a roll like bone 1 constraint in a percentage pose, setting the enforcement to a spline interpolation method. The reason for the numbers that I used in the expression is that, at 1% of the throttle pose the prop will have a full rotation.

Hi there, Well, finally got round to running a fly-round of my female character. I think I better getting on slapping some bones in her, and start doing some animation with her... I think she still needs smoothing out some more, but I'm just spinning my wheels at the moment, hence the need for some animation. Maybe some clothes on her as well - yes, she's nude, so you have been warned. I based the body on Joe Williamsen's awesome Bisley Warrior Princess, and the head on every single wireframe that I've seen by Jim Talbot - thanks for the constant inspiration, both of ya! The hair and ears were obtained from Vuk Pavlovic (sp?), so thanks go to him. The…

It's been a while, but I had this image of the playing card knights from Alice in Wonderland, and I wanted to put 3D Painter through its' paces. I have to say I really like 3D Painter and its integration with AM. That plus the fact that there's a new version of Mirrorsplines for AM13 really made my day. And when did Hash add the mirror all smartskin option? It's really cool too. Currently the model only has a color and a displacement map, I'll probably add a reflectivity map tomorrow.

Hey guys, It's been like 6 months since I've posted anything content wise! So I took sometime this afternoon to make a quick animation. It's just for practice but it does need some finishing for sure.... But I won't be working on it anymore, as I'm one of those guys who can spend an eternity trying to perfect things.... and those are the people who usually never finish anything! Anyhows... check it out! About 800kb, sorneson http://www.vrcops.com/vids/OverTable4A.mov btw.... is anyone else really not satisfied at all with the newest version of quicktime? at least on the pc.... This may be counter intuitive to all those who model showroom pristine cars but I prefer my props to have some mileage on them, especially a taxi cab. There is a dent in each door (the passenger one is somewhat lost in the reflection of the lower hinge) and two in the rear fender. All four use the same normal decal with identical scaling and amplitude. I'm still testing to see whether I get convincing results by scaling just the decal or I have to make small, medium, large and asymmetric dent models.

OK! This will be a model of my Ranger in GW. But that's pretty far off. I've made a body mock-up and now I'm working on the head. Here's where I'm at: [attachmentid=23207] Lookin' kinda freaky. [attachmentid=23208] I've gotten this far with the help of the great 'Cooper' Tutorial. My questions: - Am I using too many 5 point patches? - How to fix those creases on the side? - Does he need more CPs? - Should I put this on hold until I get my version 13 upgrade? (Just in time for Christmas. ) Suggest away! Now that I've made this thread, I should be more motivated to work on him! Updates will happen!

I have played with the SDK for A:M for some time and so far it has resulted in a plug-in for simple water effects. See the attached movie if you want an example of what it can be used for. I hope you don't mind the green color. It was supposed to look like poisonous goo... The plug-in is in an early alpha state so please read the disclaimer before you use it! It is only tested in A:M v10.5 so please let me know if you have problems getting started. Poison01.mov

Okay, I've just finished a small piece I've been working on. A little info here: I've been working on editing video of my two daughters (ages 21 months & 3 years). The video clips will be put on a DVD for my wife and the two grandmothers. Before the main menu on the DVD there's an opportunity to insert an intro video, so this is what I've created. First off, I apologize to the MAC folks if they can't view Windows Media Files. I tried other formats, but was having a hard time to keep this down to a small enough file size. I do recognize that there's several flaws with this animation. The monkey (in the foreground) has a few issues with twisting o…

** EDIT: 4/8/04, update has been posted on page 3.** Hey there, folkses. I'm making strides in my first big Hash project. The modeling for my merman character is nearly complete -- by complete I mean "all parts are there", not "perfect". I doubt I'll ever get it to that point. Anyhow, I want to make sure the proportions and overall look strike people well. Once I fine-tune that, I'll start decimating unnecessary splines and then -- *gasp* -- texturemap it. I know the bottom of the tail ends a bit ... flat. I'll fix that. Thanks! --Ross

As the last push on this project commences (5 months and counting), I've been going back and reworking some of the older elements to bring them in line with the most recent - I've been working on this on and off for 3 and a half years so there is a very large difference in quality between the older stuff and the newer stuff! Anyhow, I thought I'd bring something to show and tell this week so here's my main character re-worked and re-textured for 2004. I'm only using decals (no materials) to save on render time and the maps were created in a method almost identical to that documented so well by Jim Talbot. There's some more work to be done on the lips, eye, forehead and sc…

Dispersion is how refraction bends the different colors of white light differently causing the color fringing you see in prisms, cheap camera lenses and other irregularly shaped transparent objects. This is an attempt to simulate it by changing the Index of refraction of the glass material as the color of the light is swept across the spectrum during a multipass render. I also moved the light to fringe the shadow a bit. This is not a fast process, but if you need dispersion, it can be done.

Hi all, Thanks again to those that helped trouble shoot the problems I was having with the shaders the other day. Now that it's working I was able to find time tonight to tweak some settings and get it MUCH closer to the look I was going for. Some of you may remember this model from a few years ago when I first created it, I'm really excited to be getting back into working with it again. Below is a screen shot of the new and MUCH improved look. Let me know what you think! I've also included a wire frame shot as well. Now for a little more trouble shooting, it looks as though I have a strange thing happening with one of the guide hairs. You can see …

I've been working on this in bits of spare time I manage to carve out now and then - 10 minutes here and there, basically. It's Robbie Sinclair from the TV show "Dinosaurs" (I couldn't come up with any original ideas that were interesting enough). I plan on modeling the whole thing, texturing, rigging, and eventually animating as well. This is the first character model I've really committed to in A:M, since I don't really consider myself a modeler, but I want to get better. I know I have to work on the CP layout, parallel rows are getting pretty dense in some areas. I've had some problems with hooks (they never seem to want to work, is there a trick to making …

This post is more of a query than a showing of new work, but I'm going to be presumptuous and post this in the WIP rather than the New Users forum. This is a model of an inline speed skate. This is my second model, the first with curved surfaces, so I have a number of questions. I'm sure all of these questions have been asked and answered before, but I'm still looking for those answers. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd certainly appreciate it. 1. What is the best way to remove the creases in the model's surface? 2. Ideally, I'd like to radius the edges of the frame (the metal structure below the boot), but the short splines connecting the…

While working on the prototype for a game project I was starting up, I created some models of various props and such. I was working in Blender, and so they're all polygonal models. But that's fine. I've decided I'm going to recreate a couple in-particular in Blender. It's a good "1-to-1" comparison and, I think, will help me with learning how to handle splines better, etc. They're a small and medium sized market stand which were going to be used for a market place area of the starting town in my prototype. The medium stand isn't finished as of this screenshot, and actually needed some optimization to be really game ready (3661 faces for just a single, sta…

Well, well, well, well. It has been close to an eon now since my last W.I.P. Hopefully some of you might remember me, lol. I have not spent a lot of time with A:M lately because I've been concentrating most of my efforts in story development. I have finally reached the pre-production phase of modeling my characters. This character is a semi-human, mostly human looking, character from an unknown race (unknown as far as the story goes). I would like some feedback on my face model and any pointers/improvement I could make to my technigue. So far I have the base facial mesh going. I'm still trying to tweak the patches around to try to bring out the char…

At this point I have the room and some of the lights, once I feel I have these basic elements right, I will start adding the glasses and the smoke, and the creepy people. Interesting point the door in the back has no texture or color yet and neither does the ceiling. I am not sure I need to add texture to the cieling. Also does anyone hav any tips on shooting in confined spaces? should I pull off a wall or go with wide angles?

Here's a preliminary animation of a Fuel System Schematic for Fuel Injected race cars. It took a little over a day to create the models and render the animation. Text was composited in Vegas 5 and rendered to a Real Media file for space considerations. To have done this in another modeling package would have taken far longer in my opinion. I still have to work on the lighting and camera angles, but the ability to make and change things so quickly in A:M is a real bonus. http://hre.com/jhvdigital/videoclips/hashforums1.rm

Hello everyone! Just completed enough of my very first model in A:M (actually very first anything beyond the cube in David Roger's book). Thought I would follow the Japanese schoolchild's axiom "Boys Be Ambitious!" and shoot for the stars. Or in my case, the space animation contest. This is the attacker's space ship for a space scene. I wanted an organic/technical feel that appeared dangerous and so I ended up with a rocket propelled crab of sorts. I am pretty happy with it as it stands. Needs more tweaking and color but I think you will get the drift. The white triangles at the back are where the engines go. This is the very first 3D thing beyond ball a…

This isn't quite what Rusty is looking for in his other thread but I'll show it none-the-less... a fly-over of the Aurora curtain effect. Basically two gradient combiners are used to fade out the top and bottom and in the middle is a turbulence combiner, stretched vertically and animated in the chor to move through the mesh of the curtain to give it the undulating look. AuroraE000.mov PRJ done in v17 but it will work in earlier versions Aurora06_animated_flyby.prj
