I retrieved this c. 2004 work via the Wayback machine and felt it ought to be seen again. That's genuine A:M hair, expertly done. Great work Phil, where ever you are!

here´s some stuff i´ve made lately with the help of a:m. 1. DDQ Series video: those are touring class PA speakers which i´ve designed two years ago. i did the layouts for those speakers with a:m (they looked a little different in the development stage, some things were too difficult to realilze in production). so the design for the speakers was made in a:m, the speakers you see in the video are real video-shots though. the only 3D footage besides the lines-stuff was the compression driver, i had to model it in a:m, because the prototype we filmed didn´t have the right driver built in the animation was made in after effects, the lines with a plug-in called plexus. …

BIG thanks to whoever did the cartoony car and brownstone apartments. This animation was a 'quick build' with elements I had laying around... for a corporate 'ra-rah' video, used as a module to house the headshots, names and TERRIBLE videos of the corporate bigwhigs and supporting their 'MERGE LANES' theme. There will be 7 inset videos in all. MERGE_CUT_TEST.mov

it´s that time of the year, on wednesday starts the prolight & sound exhibition in frankfurt and i made an animation with the cameo mascot. this year it was extra fun for me since the theme was led-bars, and i had the idea of using an led-bar as a light saber. i rendered 4 passes, one for the color with shadows, ao, reflections and everything, one for the shadow, one for the depth map and one for the alpha channel. the bridge was made in c4d, exported as an obj and loaded in after effects into element 3D and repeated endlessly, the actual 3D object is just a short segment. this saved a lot of render time and animation time, since i could animate the charac…

I meant to enter this model in the Insect contest, but I didn't make the deadline. The background picture is one I took of Mt. Hood. The flies are from one of the extras cds. I found the flies' buzzing sound somewhere online. I made the mantis model and sounds and recorded the frogs and crickets sounds myself. xhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvsD_HdDCDM

This has been a fun little project, every month Jet's Pizza asks for 1-3 little vignettes to add to their Facebook page to keep it lively... highlighting some event for that month. Initially, they wanted 2D hand-drawn animation... and as I have aged I have not had the where-with-all to do 2D hand-drawn cartoons anymore... its a LOT of toil! I designed JetMan in A:M trying to keep within their established design and added the SAUCY Rig to animate him, render with the toon shader... its working pretty good! Each month 2-3,000 people view the segments- and Jet's is happy with the turnout. They give me a very-very rough idea and the freedom to take it from there... I try to p…

I borrowed the pine tree from the forum (thank you, John Bigboote), but I believe I made everything else. My friend Adam (The Toadstool) helped me with the home made Motion Capture. Thank you, Adam. To make this short I used Motion Capture, Dynamic Constraints, Forces, several Particle Systems (hair, leaves, grass/weeds), a little Newton Physics, and Cloth along with animation by hand. Animation Master, Audacity, and Photoshop were the software used. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_j5nGkfCIE

Hi everybody, I am not sure if many know that tradition in the US but in Germany most children (and many older childs ) do have an "Adventskalender". That is a calendar before christmas with some candy (often chocolate) in it for each day in December till the 24th.Every day you are allowed to open one "door" of it till xmas is there. (most people in Germany start celebrating christmas on the evening of 24th, not the 25th like in some other countries. Anyway: This is the digital Adventskalender 2016 from my company. It is packed with funny, deep or just very nicely done commercials from all over the world and the cover art is done with A:M. Have fun . Each …

I recently started a small project with a puppit I made of some garden strings and velvet. They were a bit moveable, but I had no idea to set it up with the right stability to make a movie of it. Then I reminded the one_frame_button of my Cad camera. So I made some surounding and tried some pictures. My first attempts were a bit fraggy, as I had no idea to make the puppit straight for a longer period. Then I found some small magnets, and used coins to move the feet as parts for the walk trace. It all looks a bit chunky, as I had hardly an idea how much frames needed a walk pose, or a still. This was made with a range of 600 frames. 😏 pino.avi

I am developing some variations on a simple character and had some pose sliders set up for things like eye and mouth movements. The body was retained and a series of heads developed for the changes. Even though the original CP's have been deleted and replaced by those on the new heads, the old pose sliders remain when I try to set up the new relationships. I deleted the appropriate sections in "Relationshhips" but the sliders remain when I try to use an action to test the figure. Can this be changed or do I have to live with it ? Thanks for any help you might be able to offer. Regards simon

This was the first project I did in AM. My nephew was trying to make a career as a racing driver and this was an attempt at raising some sponsorship. It was only intended as a fist pass at the idea and, if the company was interested, then we'd get the polished version done. It never got finished because, they were interested at first but, just as we started to look into it more, two of their marketing dept died with stress related problems so we got lost in the process. The nephew, Ben Clucas, then 17/18 now 29, is still working as a racing driver, albeit not on the plane initially hoped for. There are lots of clips of him on Youtube, including an amazing race a…

Hey Everyone. After another month in production, I completed my next Lego Animation for my You Tube Channel. All animations and renders were done in A:M. Post production in AE. I thought that the flooding and Tropical storms were going to keep me from finishing it and posting it today. But I got through it. Here is the link to view it: xhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLl7mjUMmR4 Thanks so much Kevin

Hi guys and gals. I finished a couple of videos. I wish I had more time. Could easily spend hours on a few frames to get smoother animation. Other things I would like to do is change is my rig to one of the pre made AM ones. My rig feels to stiff. If I had more time I would learn more about AM particles and also add alot more texturing. I can fully understand why it takes hundreds of people to make animated movies. I want to make more of these videos when I have time and would appreciate any comments and suggestions to improve. Thanks

Try loading this prj in v16... cloth_tower08_taller.prj cancel out of the requests for images and models, then try to resave it under a new name. Are you able to save? It fails for me, even when the images and model are available so it's not their absence that is the problem.

I'm wanting to change the color of a group on a model, in the chor. When i click on the color chip no color i set gets accepted and the RGB channels for the color do not resemble the values shown in the color picker. The red and green are actually below zero. Is there a good reason these are not corresponding to the color picker? I dimly recall seeing something like this a long time ago but don't recall if it was intended or not.

Congratulations to Will Sutton for stealing the show on the mascot contest. Here are/were my two additions. 1)Motormouth... this is the alternate version I debated over entering. An old character I repurposed for the contest. Used a MatCap ambient shader on the car paint which I think works pretty well. 2) Kitty Kat- this was done very quickly, and was a test using A:M Paint to control the color and length of the fur. I hope to finish her up and do some animation with it. Kitty Kat cartoon on label by Shane Glines. Both did very very poorly in the voting- but I wasn't in it to win... just happy to participate. I'd like to thank the one other person who gave…

If you're running the latest version of OS X, you have access to the new Mac App Store. There's a free application in there called "Art Text Lite." It reminds me a little of an old application called TypeStyler that I used to use in the old days. Anyway, the free version comes with several preset styles. If you make a circle and apply the styles to them, you can then save out large resolution spheres that you can use with the Matcap shader! (Make sure your final image is square and has a black background.) If you spend the $20 for the full version, you have access to even more preset styles and you can customize your own.

Hi friends .... I developed a rig to use with BVH motion. For each bvh I have to setup the same constraint to the same bones to the same links(bvh "bones"). Since the name of the bones are the same (my own rig) and also the links(bones) of the BVH are the same(name). Is there a way to export these instructions of constraints and then import them into a new action, using the same rig with a different BVH (diferent movements but with the same "links" (names)). Do I made myself clear? I attached the rig represented by solid structures Bones_to_bvh.mov

I used AM waaay back, now I'm thinking of getting back to it. But I need to know if I can export to a particular game engine/platform, Panda3d. I see Patchwork3d exports directX, this is perfect (or so I hope) as Panda3d has import capabilities for DirectX files. But before I plunk down the cash, does anyone have a character I could do some testing with? Anything with some simple animations that have been exported into DirectX with this plugin? If anyone could send me one or direct me to a download, I would most appreciate it, thanks! Martan

Hi, I have a material that's supposed to create an atmosphere around a planet... however it won't work, its missing something. I need to create a green glow around these non-green spheres. Anyone have any ideas? Going to look at 'material effect' see if that's an option. Other wise I do not know how to make a material extend beyond the sphere it's attached to. Thanks, Rusty

Plugging away steadily I'm trying to get to grips with smartskin. watched Roberts excellent video and making progress. A quick question though, Do I have to make a new SS for every joint as a separate relationship or, can they all be done in one reltionship ? eg, making an initial SS for right forearm can I make an SS for the wrist in the same window/relationship or does it have to be a new SS/relationship ? regards simon

Hello ... Thought I would dust the cobwebs off this section of the forum and announce a new game. All of the game models were created in Animation Master and programmed using Pure Basic. It's a 3d style billiard game that is "5-games-in-one". Included are "Speed Demon" ... "Pock-it Golf" ... "Stripes & Solids" ... "Stonehenge" and "Pock-it Protector". You can view a video of the game in action from my website. I am offering a free demo version of the game that you can download a try out. The game is for Windows XP, Vista, 7 or 8. You will need DirectX 9.0c installed on your system in order for the game to run (even if you have DirectX 10 or 11) unfortunately ... Of …

Hey Everyone. Ran across this story development video that includes Storyboard, Layout, Script, & final composite. Done in 2010. Detwiler_Story_Sample_800x450.mov All characters and props were done in A:M. Backgrounds(sky, desert, etc.) were done in Vue. The lighting of Animation Master and Vue were done seperately but matched together. Banditos were modeled/ textured by Will Sutton(awesome character work). I modeled Appalachian Al, but his texturing was done by John Henderson. Rigs were done by me, Will Sutton, and Robert Holmen. Storyboards, lighting, compositing was a rather difficult process. Even the shadows and AO were in sepera…

I wanted to compile my many experiments with Animation Master recently as it pertains to a particular short I am working on. This project is inspired by Twin Peaks, the Twilight Zone, and Phantasm possibly. I am trying to see what I can get away with regarding our favorite software- Animation Master. Recently, I've been trying to rig complicated .obj models and have been utilizing smartskinning and rigging. Some of these shorts are old and I didn't understand hair and the like. Also, there's a bit of motion Capture using Brekel Pro Face 2. Anyhow, thanks for letting me post. More updates later! Adam https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcQhap93-tM
