I've fiddled with layering actions and came up with this: Pseudo Thom Walk Please right click and save the file before playing. It's by no means perfect, but it does contain the main bits I intend to cover in the final reel.

After a lot of thought and debate I have given myself the green light to start this project. I wanted something short and doable within a six month time line. So with these thoughts in mind I have the following planned. A story that requires... -Only one character model. -Only two set models. -Only 5 prop models. And that's it. I have the story written already. It's based off of a longer script I have planned for the future. I wanted to do a small trailer like project but make the trailer a story in itself. So far the story would only be about 2 minutes long which I think is very much achievable. Keep in mind that this will not be my primary project. …

This is the glam shot I just finished rendering for the Pterosaur model on eggprops. It was modeled by Joe Cosman and textured by both Joe and Brian Prince. You can find it <here> And see it in actions over on A:M flims <here>

Building a bathroom for a short animation piece. Still plenty of work to do--the stalls don't even have toilets in them yet, among other things. Not really going for photorealism here; I'll be blurring and re-touching the finished render in Photoshop to create a "painted" backdrop for my toon characters.

Hi Guys! I practiced the animation principles in this animation on weekend. I applied squash and strech, anticipation, easy in-out, holding, spacing and timeing and etc.. Here is the little animation: Punch a ball I used Xvid codec for the movie's compressing. Cheers... Sharky

greetings my friends after a long period of thinking about it, i´ve decided to dismiss my short movie project "the lunch encounter" (the one with the guy and the cat). for several reasons: 1. the story wasn´t strong enough. 2. my animation skills are not good enough to compensate the rather weak story. 3. it´s too long. 4. i wasn´t 100% happy with the look anymore. also i realized i suck at story writing. i really do. i´m always starting to make a movie because i just want to do a short, not because i want to tell a story. maybe some of you can relate to that. i just have fun creating characters and props and sets and doing the lighting and stuff, …

All of a sudden I was having problems rendering TGA decals, using 15.e. I tried everything but kept getting artifacts. I finally installed 15.0J+ and now things are rendering right again. I put jeans and a t-shirt on Knuckles and deleted the underlying body mesh. I think I'm gonna leave him bare-foot and rig his toes while I'm learning to rig. So over the next couple of days I'll be studying up on the 2008 rig.

Hey I am going to be doing some story boards today and then scan or "film" them with a webcam to get them into my pc, then edit them together w/ my narration in order to have a rough working draft of my film. As I finish a scene, I am going to splice it into the animatic, til the whole thing is done. I figure this will give me a more concrete idea of what I've got done and how much is left to do rather than try and just animate scenes at random. What I'm wondering is: what's the best way to put this together? Use something like premiere? I think I have an old version floating around. Can I just scan each image once and then do a hold on it? I reall…

Since I enjoyed the most recent contest, I thought I would try a 'proper' entry, meaning that I have reference material and build an animatic, etc. Really try to go through as much of the established process as I can handle. So, to start out with, my animatic: http://www.prism.gatech.edu/~gtg724n/animatic.zip Please let me know what you think. It's about a minute and a half long, but I do at least have my Typical Male to try and start out with. Since the subject is 'mad,' there's one character I immediately thought of - I just needed to find an appropriate rant time.

Hi. I got this software called VRHotwire that lets you add tracks to QT panos and cubics. It' like Livestage, I think , but cheaper and rougher around the edges. I made a virtual tour with a QT cubic as the main node. I added a sound track and a small animation done in A:M. Comments welcome. Look down to see the animation. Cubic I'd love to hear from someone with Livestage on how it is adding this kind of stuff, and if there is a way to minimze the speed loss when adding animations to cubics.

I'm working on an illustration of spin networks in Loop Quantum Gravity, a theory of quantum gravity that seems to be making substantially better progress than String Theory lately. (It is still in the realm of speculation so far, though, just as String Theory is...). The basic idea is to quantize space-time. The result is very much like a "foam" in certain respects (as John Archibald Wheeler first imagined it might be). So...I'm working on a visual model of the foam to help illustrate the basic ideas and principles developed so far. The quantized space is essentially like grains of space packed together like bubbles in a foam. It turns out the two most impo…

I used the dynamic constraint on one of my model characters. It's been working really well. When they walk, certain body parts move almost realistclly. However, the biggest issue has been when I render the walking animation to video file, the dynamic effect stops moveing or does'nt move on the video as much as they moved on the basic action screen mode. I'm wondering is there a certain configuration you have to set in the rendering properties to see the dynamic constraint movements in the renderd video files or is it something else that I'm doing wrong? Any one please help!!!

Hi, I'm a returning A:M newbie who is finally learning this program using version 8.5. I know... I am creating an animation of a levitated deck of cards, and I want them to move from the deck to a magician's close-up table. Unfortunately, they seem to move on their own. I am using simple translation for movement. I clicked the "Make Keyframe" key at zero frames: I typed 30 (1 sec) in the frames window, moved the top card, and clicked "Make KeyFrame" I want this particular position to hold for 30 frames before moving to its final position, so I typed 60 into the frames window and clicked "Make KeyFrame" The card's final positi…

I tried a bit of an animation test with one of Shelton's characters, rigged with the A:M 2008 rig, to get in some practice with it (the rig) before the forum project gets started into high gear. This is just what I've come up with this weekend, between other non-animation things. There is no face rig on this character, so the animation is only body mechanics. I'm only mostly done up until frame 8:03 or so. I'm rather satisfied with most of the movement for him getting up, although there are probably a couple of small things I'd clean up after fleshing out the walk off of screen (listed below). After 8:03, there is just gross body movements that approximate walking …

Hey guys, Been a while since I've had any A:M'ing time. I got inspired by one of the Bradburies (I think it was Matt) who had done the planets. There are some *huge* textures out there (also, Blue Marble Next Gen is awesome cuz it has a picture for every month on the year so you can see the snow advance and retreat) that can be put to good use. I still need a cloud map, and I'd like to have some kind of auroral "roadway" from the Eastern Washington, California and New Mexico areas to finish it off. But here it is in progress. It is actually the opening screen (no text) for my thesis proposal presentation. I'll be dry-running in about two weeks, and hope…

I was just poking around today with decals and how I can use them to breath life into a character. So far, I was able to give my simple "2 patch count" ninja model about five facial expressions, it worked for his eyes so I know it'll work for his mouth phonemes although I didn't bother making them. Just curious in what some of you think about it... quickface.mov

In light of my coming in 4th for this month's image contest here is the link to a full body turn that I did a couple of weeks ago to see how the model was coming. On this version there was still some texturing to do but you can see a lot of the details. R2 Body Turn (2mb) Here's an early animation I did featuring 2-3-2 conversion. I know the movemtn is jerky bit I just wanted to see how things looked at the time. R2 2-3-2(2mb) Feel free to leave your C&Cs.

After going to the Dan Holtz's Race Experience, I decided that I would model the Mesa Marin track. one reason is because I almost broke the track record in a car with only half the horse power. The other reason is the track is scheduled for destruction this month. So I decided I would carry on the legacy. I need some help with some things, first I rotated the straights at 7 degrees, and the corners at 18 degrees, that is what the track has, but it looks like it is way more angled than that. When you use the rotate manipulator, and input a number, is that the actual real world degree, or is it different on this program? Any who, here is the still of what I hav…

Here's a preliminary animation of a Fuel System Schematic for Fuel Injected race cars. It took a little over a day to create the models and render the animation. Text was composited in Vegas 5 and rendered to a Real Media file for space considerations. To have done this in another modeling package would have taken far longer in my opinion. I still have to work on the lighting and camera angles, but the ability to make and change things so quickly in A:M is a real bonus. http://hre.com/jhvdigital/videoclips/hashforums1.rm

I really have taken a break from showing stuff on this forum after a little legal 'mishap'... anyways- I thought some of you would get a kick out of this... I'm (hoping) to complete a 2:30 music video for Myron Leroy's 'Rack Em Up' song. If things get tight, I may need help from willing forum members to help animate and render this puppy. Needs be done mid summer... I'll show some animation eventually, but here are some select stills from the first minute I have done. It's about an old pool shark (Sir Nigel) who ends-up getting himself hustled by an underdressed vixen. ALL images are WIP not final renders... Nuff said- HAPPY MD WEEKEND!

Same model in both left and right images but better (IMO) textures, lighting and setting; ten years between renders. I'd be willing to bet there's nothing in the 2013 versions that couldn't have been done in 2003, it just took that long to motivate myself to sweat those details.
