Here's one of two characters that I'm working on. I'm in the skinning mode right now, but I'm adding new points to make the movements a lot better so I'm going back and forth and such. I have to say the skinning in Animation is a bit better than the one in Maya. I still have a couple of things to learn as I go along with this. This one is the Fighter.

Hi everybody Brandon's plasma ball gave me some ideas for a lightning model with sliders that control different strikes. I plan on adding a light to the model for the light flashes that's keyed to the strike within the same slider. Right now I justed keyed the light in the choreography. Here's the test movie. Any suggestions welcome.

Hey guys (and gals), I've been working hard at the grindstone modeling an NYPD Impala that transforms into voila, a Transformer. Convenient eh? I've been working hard to make sure it somewhat resembles an impala. The headlights and grill look a little funky, and every time I attempt to shrink it or adjust it, it only affects the hood and creates funky bends. Anyway, I'm building the internal gadgets as we speak, and expect to have a fully functioning knee joint by tomorrow. I only wish to have everything in one model so I can animate it without any unnecessary trickery. Sorry if the image quality is a bit crappy, I'm becoming impatient with the rendering time…

Here's something I 'm doing for my day job, a machine that creates rubber injection-molded components for high voltage uses. I'm going to need to do versions where some components are hidden or turned off. Is it better to do that with an action or an on/off pose? 103203_Ric008IV_Step1Rotate_v2h264.mov

Here's a little Christmas scene I've been working on in my spare time (when not working on TWO). Not quite finished and I don't think it'll get done before christmas but here's what I've got so far. I'm planning to use it for our christmas cards next year if I can ever finish it...I made the santa last year. The tree was probably the hardest part. Placing all those lights by hand sucked and I'm still not happy with the way they look. If anyone knows of a good way to make realistic looking christmas lights let me know. I used several props off of the hash cd's for the presents (Thom is getting removed because he's too darned distracting). I'm still planning to get r…

Hey gang, I've been away on family stuff and haven’t been doing much. I did this piece a while ago for the Howard Stern Film Festival. They got 2137 entries and announced the winners last week. The winner got $30K in cash and prizes. Unfortunately I didn’t make the final nine to be part of the TV show. It might as well be seen here. Bruce

As you will (not ) hear, the sound on this short is not done yet. The first 40 seconds or so is silent and the music has a click track running through it. At least its obvious that they weren't lifted from the original ! My friend is going to do that in the next few days... This is an assembly edit of the project. There are three versions of it. This one, one were the lights don't change colour and the camera moves a bit more, and one using a Toon render. The movements are the same in all of them, only the setting changes. The quality is not very good as its taken off a medium quality lower res version. The original is in 1080 HD and this is 320 x 240 three gene…

Hey all.. Well, I just got my software about a week ago and I've been going through the tutorials, but decided to do a little animation outside the tutorials. I used Thom to do a little jumping jack action.. first try was ok, but I got some suggestions and polished it a bit... still not perfect, but I am learning. Then, since I'm a Matrix fan (the first movie anyway), I decided to figure out how to do a simple 'bullet time' sequence. Took me almost all day to figure it out, but could do it in about 5 minutes now if I had to.. haha.. guess that's what learning's all about. Anyway, if anyone's interested I'll link to it here... nothing earth sh…

Amplitude creates a action for a model with a named pose in the example here the model is model1 the pose pose1 I used the secret wave file on the cd and it generated the action used here. The pose was to move the "mouth" of my elaborate model. I rendered a portion to show the results. If you have a model1 with a pose1 the action will drive the model to sync with the secret wave. [attachmentid=11827] [attachmentid=11828] Not sure is amplitude is still available was on amxchange which appears closed http://www.amxchange.com/ secret.zip secret.mov

Frequently i see angles I like by moving the Choreography window, but find it difficult to re-capture it exactly when adjusting the camera in the Side/Front/Top windows. After moving the camera, is there a way to tell A:M to fix it in position?

Hi folks, I was asked at work to create a device that would wash solar panels. A dusty solar panel can have an efficiency reduction of 40%. The forensic lab [attachmentid=17841] that is under my care (I'm a stationary building engineer), has the whole roof covered with photovoltaic (solar) panels that generates its own electricity (under optimum conditions). Cleaning the dust from such a massive solar farm proved to be difficult, so, I devised this hi-pressure water sprayer that guides itself on the panel and the operator simply pushes the pressure line up and down the panels. This is a simple illustration I made this week, (roughly 9 total hours), tha tillustra…

Greetings! Well, I finally stepped away from my mechanical modeling background and took a stab at the Katakata tutorial for making an anime head - this one is Takahashi's onnaRanma from Ranma 1/2. I'm posting it here for feedback - this is the first attempt at a non-mechanical mesh I've done in A:M, so feedback and useful pointers are more than welcome. My initial thought is that I'm probably a little spline-heavy (typical Shurtleff-style overkill in action yet again). I had a bit of a problem with creasing to start, but I think I've managed to get rid of most of it. One major compromise I've made in trying to implement Takahashi's style is with the eyes. …

Puh, Finally I managed to get a vespa with rolling wheels following a path. I had much trouble with this, that I canot really explain to myself. I guess I did many things wrong( for instance to going to the start of the animation first ), often when I fiddeled around ,I ended up with the vespa creeping really slow along the path or the wheels not moving at all, then when I deleted all actions to replace them, the path strangly jumped away and I frustradetly started all over with a new chor, often the playhandle didnt work and I had to restart the chor. But finally I got this. Now I have to go on to animating in the chor, next I have to find out how to set k…

"You've never seen a ball bounce like this"-AO Scott, New York Times "Two Thumbs Up"-Ebert & Roeper "Filled with shock, suspense and special effects this is the year's must see movie"-Sid Smith, Chicago Tribune "Visually Stunning"-Eric Harrison, Houston Chronicle It's attached for all who want to see. Seriously, as much as I wanted to jump in and do my Pixar like, Emmy Nominated, Four Star, SIGGRAPH standing ovation, tour de force of a movie I took advice from some animation books (and animators on the web) to start with the obnoxious bouncing ball exercise. So I did. Feel free to comment. Note that I have not tried to put an…

I'm so excited! - I know this is not much by many standards, but the clip below features a model completely created and rigged by me and is my best work so far in A:M. Using Mike Caputo's rigging tutorial from the A.R.M., I managed to accomplish a simple but working animateable rig. Alas, the links to these tutorials are currently dead, but hopefully will be up again soon. If anyone has info on his "FK to IK" arm tutorial, please forward. I've got it working pretty well, but I believe I'm missing a step when constraining the "IK Bicep to Elbow". I am learning simCloth after purchasing the 2005 Siggraph DVD from Hash, Inc. Mark Weller's tutorial is very informati…
