Working out the kinks in Netrender, and used an old project that had everything but the kitchen ink: reflections, transparencies, texture and bump maps, volumetrics, etc. Having some networking and software stabiity issues, which really put the "farm" into renderfarm! I submitted a still several years ago in the image contest, but it was up against very stiff competition. Works better when you see the whole dolly move IMHO. kgh Youtube video "Robot dolly test"

Hi All - I have nearly completed modeling the lamp I will use to continue ABC training. If I can complete this model and successfully rig this sucker, I'll post the model up for all to use. I have two questions which are stopping me from completing this model: 1) The lamp shade itself. I lathed the shade and then I added points to create the slotted cutouts (see images LuxoLampShade-Render and LuxoLampShade-Closeup for examples). When I added the points, the top-middle section of the lampshade is no longer smooth. What I'm wondering is, how would you recommend I create the slots in the lampshade to keep it nice and smooth? 2) For the lamp's spri…

Hi fellow Hashers, Í've been awfully busy lately with my schoolwork but in my spare moments i managed to start the character that i was intetn on making when i bought A:M. His name is Richard Derry, he's a midle aged man who's depressed bc he has recently lost his wife. Here is the head WIP, i have yet to do the ears b finals are creeping up on me but i'll work on those as soon as summer vacation starts (june 16th). Meanwhile i would like to refine the face as much as possible before moving on. C & C are welcome. PS. i was in a rush so the shadows on the skylit render are only raytraced with one ray.

Hey everybody. I'm working on a project with my buddies. I'm fairly new, so I'm doing one thing at a time. I did a toon render on a cowboy hat I modeled and animated. Please tell me how I'm doing. Click Here One more thing. I noticed that there's a gap in the shadow that's not supposed to be there. Any ideas on how I can go about fixing this? Thanks.

For those who love dot hack. I ask you for your arms and hands in dire need. I want to try and make what Mohhammed started. It is my dream to put together a clip or film or something that has to do with .hack of some sorts, Why i am asking this is because i really want to start my own and i have the guide to .hack//G.U. Rebirth so i really dont need any 'pics' exactly. If you would like i could upload some pictures on request. Some Characters i would like made would be Haseo, tri-Edge, and Azure Balmung. And possibly Atoli. I will upload pictures of theis when people are interested. For now tho i need to just start on making a surver *For those who dont know, thats bascil…

I took a very old model and apply to what I have learn from all these years. Rework the mouth for animation, rework the hip area for smoother bending without using so many fan bones. Use TSM2 and weight mover. Use the latest Hair Particle where before she had a mesh cap on. Use simple Dynamic constraint where before there were two aim bone and a spring system. With the later version of Hash AM, I think I have reduce rigging more then half the time and it works better than before for animation. http://www.gentlechifitness.com/images/EJ_walking_chor.mov I haven't figure out how to smooth out the dynamic constraint in a walk cycle? I made an entry for the 10 Second Club at the end of February. Actually, part of the work was for the club, and part was for another project I'm working on. Anyway, the version that was submitted for the club contest was pretty good, but after getting a little feedback I made some improvements before posting it on my site. Here's the direct link: http://www.jb-av.com/anims/friendfordinner.mpg 1.24 MB, MPEG-1 Enjoy!

I've been working on this off and on for a while, a few hours making weeks letting it sit around, and really want it to look good. It is a Temple like design loosely based on Greek/Roman style. Will be made of marble. However my materials turn out too unrealistic and I need some help. Also in its final form it will be atop a hill/mountain to and I don't know if it would look better new or ruinous. So basically any help would be nice.

Hello all, This is Simon, president of Small Island Productions and Director of Against The Author. We have been working on a 3D Animated Motion Picture Event since April 2004. I have posted before, yet not often, as I usually am too busy actually working on it. The good news is, we are almost finished, and actually plan on releasing it Winter this year. We recently premiered an Interactive Trailer at the Osceola Performing Arts Center in Florida, in front of over 700 Arts Students from Central Florida. If you wish, you may visit the Against The Author Official Website at www.againsttheauthor.com , where it is also possible to watch the entire footage reel from…

This is a new character for me to learn and install the 3dArtz rig on. I took the rotos from an old 30's character "Tom" from "Tom and Jerry" (NOT the mouse and cat!) Anyway, I've really been struggling with the head. I redid some things based on Josh's suggestions but I have a couple of issues (aside from general tweaking needs). - Note the open 6-point patch. I'm at a loss how to finish this part of the face. It's the last hole in the face. - He looks like he has no chin! It's tricky getting a 2d into a 3d mode sometimes and he seems to be not translating super well (the head at least). Certainly part of this is my (lack of) skill. The hair is only I star…

I finally got my 15-year old reel back from the guy who transformed it to a DVD-ROM AVI for me. Let me just say that upon further review - this isn't as good as I remember! Anyway, I promised I would post it so here it is. I did this in 1990 in my senior year at Columbia. I do remember it being a lot of work, the total time of actual animation is about 17 seconds, BUT much of it is reused/flipping cels and so forth to avoid doing too much work so the piece suffers from that. The actual animating of the duck is not too good either! But it was fun - and a lot of work - to do. In 15 years the film really suffered pretty bad. The color is all washed out and the…

Hi larry - loved your character so much as shown in this thread http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?s=&sh...ndpost&p=149036 (and I was coincidently working on animating a flame for myself) - so here is a test movie with project I decaled the yellow flame part with an animated sequence - used distortion box in an action to change shape over time, & I varied color over time, - one could also play with varying ambiance, transparency, roughness for sparks, etc - use a better flame sequence for the decals - etc, change glow parameters in chor. hope this helps some to get you going (if you haven't already) Fire.zip fire.mov

I have begun my final project for Digital Film class. It is a humorous/macabre short entitled "Dogfood". The style is somewhat german expressionist, somewhat my own strange sensibilities. The man in it is tormented day and night by the barking dog in his neighbor's apartment, until he exacts his revenge. The man never actually sees the dog barking, so the script had called for a sillouhetted dog, rather than something too specific. Since I have no dog, much less one that would be willing to act in this part, I have opted to use a CG stunt dog. It doesn't need to be photoreal, just a suggeston of a dog. My digital film teacher has a vendetta against A:M th…

here's my latest model of my room. i still have to add a lot a decals to the posters and add some more paintings but at the moment i think it looks pretty good P.S. i know making the edges curved would make it look a lot more real, but that adds twice as many control points to the project and then everything gets really slow. Comments Appreciated

Hey, this is a short animation I put together this afternoon. I was having some problems with making the boomerang spin properly (see the New User forum for more info), but I am relatively pleased with this animation. A few areas need stronger poses, longer pauses, better anticipation, and the regular like of course... and I'm hoping you all can help me out with spoting them. Suggestions greatly appreciated! Thanks, --Ross boomerangsmall.mov

Been working on a commission for a friend and was running into a problem with the fire ring. I have created a circle spline path and attached a fire emitter on that path to create my "ring of fire". Gonna use this as a dual thread of sorts. First of all I'm modeling that constitution refit that I had troubles with in the prop import thread. Second of all, I'm doing it in V17 and seeing how it runs. So first up, some pics and a quick benchmark! So here it is in V16 AO: 30% Global Ambience: 80% Occlusion: 95% Multi-Pass 16x 720p Render Time: 7:37 V17 Beta 5: AO: 30% Global Ambience: 80% Occlusion: 95% Multi-Pass 16x 720p Render Time: 6:09 Now you may see it there, there's noise over the saucer in the V17 one and it's the color of the background. This is apparent in both quick render and render to file and more apparent i…

Hey everyone, I could use some feedback on this early animation. I modeled a simple plunger, and I'm going to have it hop across the screen. So far, I've finished rigging and blocking the animation, and begun working on fine tuning the hop action. This render is an early test, it is by no means close to finished. I wanted to get the community's opinion on it, and use your comments to improve. At the end of the animation, you'll see a quick downward move. That's the second hop, I only rendered the first, so pay no attention to that. The model itself may be changed eventually, I'm thinking about adjusting the splinage to allow for smother joints. I'd…

Last summer I wanted to make a couple of short live-action videos of the Hulk. I started, but because of school in the fall, my project was halted! Now that I finished my first year of college i'm ready to start the project up again. Here's what I've done so far. Modeled a Hulk: Okay, I didn't really model it. I saw the one that came with my AM v11.1 and I knew I could mess with a little. All I did was a little smartskin tooling around, added hair, and gave him a little more texture. Is it the best Hulk ever? No, but it'll suffice for my thirst to entertain myself this summer before boot camp. If anyone can help me out with the model, please do. I'm still an ama…

As any of you who have seen my movie may have guessed, I am a Terminator Fan. I can only take credit for Texturing & Piecing it together. I took the Arni head from the Hash CD, put hair on it, Textured the face, & placed it on the Jeff model from the Hash CD. Put a Jacket on him but it still needs to be textured to look more like a leather Jacket. Comments, Suggestions? Hi! I need to create a sphere whose surface moves (or appears to move) something like boiling water. Looking at animated materials--color-wise it will be black with purple specular so the material will just be 'bump' (I think 'displacement' would be too much render time). I could probably find an animated clip but decaling a sphere and getting it even would be hard no matter how you work it (unfolding sphere, spherical mapping and placement, etc). Any ideas, let me know! Thanks, Rusty
