Here is a truck I modeled for a friend to use in his advertising. The truck has been fully restored now, but this version sat in his driveway for several years.

My "Planes Trains Automobiles" Contest entry was an experiment in displacement mapping... The body of the car is just a simple spline form... All the surface details... the doors, the handles, the windows, the rubber and chrome trim... that is all made with displacement maps. There isn't an easy way to manually paint such maps in a paint program but it was easy to model the shapes on a flat plane. I put a white-to-black gradient on them and shot the arrangement with an orthogonal camera. That render to OpenEXR format was applied to the body to be the displacement map. I made maps that way for the front and back de…

While I was somewhat active on this forum, I was also creating alot of things I've never shared with you, until now. I was (and I still am) using Animation: Master for many years to create 3D work. I was also learning other animation software as well and I think I have improved my knowledge for animation in general alot since then. Here are some of my best projects I created using Animation: Master. I should also mention that only the first of the five animated projects I created has subtitles. 2015 This animated short film was created to show some of the most exciting attractions of my city, Drama, located in Greece. 2016 In this a…

Here is the file i used to make my TWO-Shirts for the TWO World premiere so you can make your own too. TWOTShirtParts.pdf (this one should print as an 8.5" x 10.5" page) TWO_Shirt_Parts.tga (this one may not print at correct one-page size, needs to be printed at 240ppi) It should all fit on one 8.5x11 inch iron-on sheet Print it out, cut out the parts and arrange them as you see fit. You may delete parts if you wish. The "festival-goer" version is like this on the front: and this on the back: The "fashion version" (which i prefer, now) has just the red mechanical heart placed on the left front with no slogan, and…

Am I missing something? Load this PRJ, select the camera in the chor, look at its Fog Start and End distance properties... CameraFogTest.prj The Start is keyed to go from 100 to 200 to 400 cm the End is keyed to go from 1000 to 2000 to 4000 cm... the curve editor seems to show the curves right but all the camera's properties display is the initial values of 100 and 1000 they should be showing continuously updating values, right? Yes, i have "Use camera settings" checked.

Noticed a glitch, I have a character that is being tossed into frame to be comp'd in to back ground. When character is not in frame to where it is a blank back ground it takes 2 hours to render each frame when there is nothing to render. Yet once he is in frame it takes 45 seconds. So I usually have to follow him with the camera and then After effect it back to how it would have originally looked. Anyone noticed this or know why? VS 13 OS XP SP2 2 gigs of ram 2 TB of HD space

Original.tiff Working on an I Mac with OSX 10.68 and V15J a problem started yesterday which has me rather perplexed. I imported a model file from the CD as reference for how to lay out the splines. Selected the group skin colour in the PWS and got the following result when I hid the non selected. Missing_splines.tiff I've tried it on my own models and its not quite as dramatic as that but it does appear to mis out cp's and splines when I copy and paste. Is this a corruption problem, would it be best to go for a fresh install or is it a known problem ? Its not one I've encountered before Any help would be greatly appreciated. regards simon

I've got a 45 frame walk cycle. When I drop it onto a model, it's fine. But when I constrain the model to a path, it wants to make the walk cycle around 1/10th its length, like 4.5 frames, so in a 90 frame clip the walk cycle loops around ten times. I feel like I've seen this before but I cannot figure out how to fix it. This is happening in both v 16 and v 17.

I'm working with a rock being struck by lightening. Have got the lightening to look the way I want it to but, would like to make the rock heat up as a result of the strike, with the colour spreading down from the point of impact Initially I had thought to do it using a diffuse colour change animated through different layers but that started to look like a Doctor Who scarf made out of stone, with colour bands. Can anyone kindly suggest a method that might work ? I wondered about animated maps perhaps ? regards simon This is Ray on his rock.

As threatened. The second ever project in AM. This was the original version. It later got re animated and edited down to three days rather than five but, that version has some horrible compression artefacts on it and still has a large file size. This has been chopped a bit but ( WARNING ), the music is still as annoying as ever. There are many things I'd change if I did it now but I was pleased with it at the time. ( about 9-10 years ago). I still like the idea though. The figure models were adapted off the CD at that time. Rather inexpertly, as you can tell. simonLC_320.mov

Hey community peers, I am excited to announce that I have officially finished a video that showcases my rudimentary A:M skills! I have, in the past, been pretty good at doing green screen/chroma key type stuff here at home but then I bought A:M and used this video I was already working as an inspiration for learning and applying some of the basic techniques from the Art of A:M and technical manuals. Here are the results of my last several months of exploration with A:M and hopefully the process is getting stream-lined and there will be more worlds of imagery coming soon! -Adam gomads@gmail.com class M Planets: "Timepiece" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhoTKl0oy0Q

Hello Everyone, About 12 years ago I finished a cartoon that I had been working on in my spare time for about three years. The cartoon was called Sev Trek. From a financial point of view, it did very well. First by selling videos on the website, to having a distributor market the DVD worldwide. The rights to the cartoon automatically returned to John and myself a few years ago. So now the cartoon can have a new life on Youtube. I animated the cartoon from the first scene to the last, and if you watch carefully you will see my animation skills get better. You will need to be a Star Trek fan to get most of the jokes. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCviNaeOZoVZlUen-BQ9NMU…

I made the poster for the Summer Image Contest in A:M. I roughed the idea out in Sketchbook: I really did intend to trace out the vector version in FreeHand, it has many conveniences for this sort of art, but it's been so long since I used Freehand for anything more than a simple outline I decided I'd get it done faster in A:M The "Summer Memories" text was warped with a distortion box. The sunburst text on the left was done in Freehand and imported with the AI wizard. Of course, it's all flat parts...

This is the scene I animated for Kevin Detwiler's production of "Adventures with Boomer". You've heard of a "take" and a "double take". Cary Grant once landed a triple take in "Arsenic and Old Lace." This scene, however, contains a world record... septuple take! The voice-over narration is part of the framing device in which a grandfather is telling stories to his grandson. The characters and models were created by Kevin Detwiler in Animation:Master. The terrain backgrounds were created in Vue.

Was fooling around with my penguin model doing some test moves after working on tutorials earlier. Noticed something funny when moving the bones - there is like a ghost image of the bone in its original location. Not sure why this is happening. Maybe I need to switch to Opengl as opposed to direct3d drivers? I am running AM on the integrated GPU and not on the Quadro, so I don't think the Quadro is causing problems. Anyone have any thoughts? I've uploaded an example of what I am talking about, here and in my WIP thread. These are not extra bones, but some kind of display issue.

I'm currently running 16.0a on my office pc and 16.0 on the Mac at home and the one difference I've noticed is that the Mac version render times run rings around the pc version. Last week I was rendering a shot from "Nightcallers" that I started at the office but it was averaging five and a half to six minutes per frame, so I cancelled it and continued on the Mac when I got home. There the very same frames were rendering at a minute and a half. So I'm left to wonder if it's the platform or some crucial difference between 16.0 and 16.0a.

Here's some strange behavior I discovered over the weekend, although it was on the Mac and I haven't tested it on the pc side as yet. With toon render on, and a hole created with a Boolean cutter, when an object is viewed through the Boolean cutter hole the object has no toon lines. It's a minor problem that I can solve at the compositing stage but I wonder if it's worth an A:M Report? On the other hand if anyone has anything to add that would clarify this that would be nice too.

Is A:M supposed to automatically re-size the images in an image sequence when it imports them? The images were rendered out at 1280x720 but as soon as they get imported back into A:M they become 864x480 and so far I can find no way to stop this or chose what size the exported movie will be played at. I seem stuck with 864x480

Hey guys, sorry if the topic description made it sound like a 'marijuana reference'... I use patch images a lot, they RULE! And lately I have been playing with eXporting A:M data so I can use it in Element 3D, Cinema 4D (Maybe I AM stoned!) and trying to get A:M/bake imagery to play nice with polygonal UVW placements(making slit-wrist motions!) and I notice that patch images seem to be 'immune' to the whole baking process. ALSO- any links to some good tuts on this subject?

Hello all! For those of you who may remember me, and remember my annual Thanksgiving videos, I did not stop doing them, and did not stop using Animation Master to make them! This one was done in a short amount of time (like usual because of procastination, but mainly because of my new school, new job, and life just becoming more busy). But I did not want anyone to think I forgot about you all. This community is the reason I still have the passion to animate and am pursuing it to this day by attending school to get a degree. You have to have that piece of paper to show you can do it, portfolios are only half the game. But there is so much for me to learn still a…

My very first character modeling and animation in Animation:Master. I intended to give this as a Christmas card in 1997 but didn't quite finish in time so it got slightly repurposed. Bones, Moving Camera, Textures, Lights, Shadows, Decals, even Refraction... all the 1990s CG bells and whistles are here. The files are long gone, it survives only as this flip book which I carried in my portfolio for years.
