Hi all. Looking for some CC&C (constructive comments and criticism) on the following: Sorenson Video 2, 33 seconds, 1.2 MB, 480x204 The lunar module was graciously donated by Vernon Zehr from his private collection; all the rest is mine. The texturing for Neil Armstrong isn't done yet. Mostly I'm looking for thoughts on the movement. I'm trying to keep in mind that gravity is one-tenth of normal, but his amount of mass (inertia) remains the same, so he still has a good amount of squash and stretch even as he falls slower. Anyway, I seem to be at a point where it's OK, but not quite right, and I humbly ask for your thoughts. Thanks! Zach

I am working on a webpage, this will be the startpoint. Niels. I made a two-leg version, I raised the density of the model a bit to make it somewhat animatable instead of my first intention as decor-prop-doll..., no finished rig yet. [attachmentid=23243]

I threw this guy together in v12 over the weekend, and am now going through the laborious process of rigging. He's one of the main characters in an as-yet-unnamed project I've been planning for some time now. ...and after the rigging is finished, clothes. I'm going to try and do all of the characters' clothing with v12 SimCloth. Eventually, he'll use Yves' skin shader, but that's not working in v12 right now. I'm not quite as happy with the body; I was going for "gangly, with poor posture and a pot belly", but it ended up looking like a guy's head on a pregnant woman's body. Hopefully he'll look better with clothes on.

I have been thinking of starting a project over winter break. Of the ideas I had the idea to "3d-erize" my room won. I started so far by just modeling the main objects in my room: desk, shelves, dresser, bed. The bed right now is just a modified version of the bench from my piano project, It is just there to a be a deformer for the cloth system sheets I plan to put over it. 1 Light, radiosity about 2 hours 4x4pass Note- There is quite a bit of distortion from the 15mm perspective. Hello all. I just stopped by to thank the Hash team for creating a great program. I've been using it for several years, but had never really stepped up to create something on my own. But, I finally have, and it's all thanks to AM. I have a dream that fits in nicely with the the whole ' one man, one laptop, kitchen table' idea and I have been working for the passed 3 or 4 months to fulfill that dream. Starting with a script and my laptop, I set out to create my film. So far I've completed 24 minutes and soon will compile a DVD. But for know, I'm completely satisfied in my endeavour. If anyone is interested, I have a trailer on my website at www.animace.biz. I've tried usi…

I did the Flying South tutorial and added a fire and character. When i render in 3d it looks like it should, but if i render in 2d part of my flock flys into an area that lightens the color of the birds. I've attached a still shot of a few birds towards the top of the screen in an area affected by both the lighter and darker. Does anyone have an idea what could be causing the lightening of my birds? I've also attached the project. Thank You Jeff flying_south14.prj

Hi Guys (and galls): Let me introduce you to the 1st grade Math teacher of the reefs. Done mostly in Hash, I gotta admit that there is a lot of Photoshop in here. However it is a "still", and sometimes it is faster to work on something directly in PS, than to model it and mold it into a pose. At least for me it is anyway. I hope you like it, and as usual critiques and comments welcomed. Hope to hear from all of you soon, Jose (aprentice)

Attached loop of a car I am working on for CrimeBomb... I am looking for a Hasher named Charles Cronley. About a year ago Charles and I traded CAD data for Mustangs, I finally took a look at his dense 'paint-only' mesh and decided it was a perfect test for the DISTORTION BOX tool and this is what I have come up with. Just wanted to let Charles know I am using it if he has any objections... I added lights, glass, mirrors, wheels and interior (WIP) I plan to make poses for door and hood openings, steering, suspension, exaggerated distortions for cartoony takeoffs and handling, and an action for wheel spin with stride-length. Then I plan to use it extensively as a …

Hey all..... Although I am quite a fast learner, and if I had the time I would attempt it myself, I am looking for someone to volunteer there talent in decaling and modeling to assist me with my upcoming project. The project is not completely animation based, however, there are some animated segments that I am using A;M for. I have created a UFO ship that I am very proud of (unfortunately, right now, I cannot access it, and the guys at Hash are doing a great job in helping me out, otherwise I would post a photo, but alas, I cannot)... and I am looking for someone to "dirty it up", and make some minor modifications that they think it might need. I am not lo…

Back at the last mascot contest I started to work on a couple of characters that I intended to turn into a very short short. I did a number of animated tests before deciding to scrap one of the characters and start again. As I was sorting through some folders today I came across some of these old tests and I realised that this stuff might never see the light of day again so I decided to post a sample here incase anyone is interested. and some pre-race warmup:

This was done in V13 Alpha 4... There was a boo-boo when I attempted a 2048x1536 render last night... I'll post both let you figure out which is which. But before you see the finished works, take a look at my project window... note the texture sizes involved here. (And, no, I don't think I can reproduce what happened... I'm clueless. It occured both render to file and in the chor window until I restarted A:M) I will attempt to re-render at 2048x1536 or higher tonight and post the results.

This is a story I have been thinking about for a few days now. I've noticed that some people would be interested in participating in a short team effort. Well, that's the reason I'm posting this at such an early stage in the development....if you like the story and want to make a well animated(hopefully) short, drop me an email. Either way, I'll be making this short and posting updates here whenever I have them. Another reason is to get an unbiased view of the story. If anyone can think of ways to improve the story, put down your ideas in this thread. I'm willing to entertain anything. Without further ado here's what I have so far. I've even got storyboards for the f…

This one is for the gurus and experts out there that know a lil sumthin sumthin about the capabilities of physic simulations in Hash AM. Yesterday I saw the movie Untraceable and there was a scene were a guy fell from a bridge. To me it looked quite good, but I wondered if they used physics simulation and a CG stunt double for the action. I tried recreating this scene in Hash, but I'm quite the novice with the physics stuff to really understand what needs to be setup and done. Is it possible to have a rigged human character and constrain with a Rigid Body constraint and have it simulate realworld physics? Not getting very far in Hash, I decided to switch…

Hi, I'm only charging this female comedian whose in England $200 to put together an intro to her prod cast (first time I ever charge and 'money' for animation work). I took this project mostly so I could track my time and see how my estimate stacked up to reality. Estimate 8 hours/work hours to date 21 and still much to do, LOL. One thing I need to create are 'energy balls'--a special effect--either an animated material or an animated decal (or both). Here's the description: Spheres which are clear energy (almost look watery to give a hint of reflection but mostly clear, yet you don't see THROUGH them to other spheres) and the halo around is an almost fluor…

I'm starting to do some experimentation into the dream sequence for my short film project (storyboard link in my signature). Before I start building I was wondering the best way to acheive certain looks. If you look at this video on YouTube which explains how spacetime curvature effects gravity, there are some parts that represent spacetime graphically as a grid or lines in a matrix. Here's a screen grab: If you want to see the whole clip that includes animation, here it is: I know that Animation Master has an option to render geometry as lines. I had a few questions about this. First of all, I tried a quick test to see if it would work. I selected…

Hey everybody... As the time with my family gets shorter and shorter I find myself with little spare time. One day after work a friend of mine wanted to go to the comic shop. As you might have guessed I picked up 2 volumes of "The Ultimates" by Mark Millar. If you're a comic fan, I would highly reccomend it. Anyway, I was inspired by the style (which is really groundbreaking) and decided to make this quick little "doodle" in a rare free afternoon that I found. Chances are, I won't be able to finish this...but here's the torso. Modeled from scratch except for the temp belt buckle and the textures are a combination of materials, dark trees and maps. …

Hey folks, I've been thinking of trying to sell new models in a set. I'm working on one now which will be "Street Objects Set I" (See the attachment). I know many consider it taboo to try and sell models when so many are offered for free but everyone needs to make money. A set like the one shown would sell for about $12.95. Do you think it's a fair price? Honest opinions please!

Hello, all. Well, this week's Animation Showdown got me really down, so I decided to cheer myself up with a new head. (Some people say a new brain is in order instead, but I just laugh at them. Hysterically. Until the persons in white coats come...) Anyway, here he is thus far, in a quick turnaround. He's my usual low-patch cartoony fare, but I think he might have potential for the future. I do wonder where to go with him next, as far as clothes and a body of some sort. Right now I'm leaning toward a gas station uniform, but I don't know why. Suggestions welcome. turnaroundhead_sor.mov

We were talking about 'cheap/free' website providers up in the 'Animation:Master' forum (http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10540) and someone spilled the beens about 'Dreamhost's 7 year anniversary sale. Next thing I knew I have a new host with (hopefully) a lot more bandwidth and a lot less pop-ups... So far so good...best $9.24 I've spent in a long while. So now I need to throw a little foottraffic at it to see how it holds-up. I put a 'WIP' 30 second render (4.5mb) windows media file (eventually, it will be streaming Quicktime) of my 'The Rolling Stones' animation which is still being rendered and tweeked...anyhow, there's some lip-synch and rock…

The starting point for some tests on using HDRI images in AM. Even with this fairly simple image there were a number of pitfalls and workarounds but I think I'm getting it. Am I right in thinking that HDRI images are no good for reflections? I had to tonemap my HDRI and convert it to a 24 bit image to improve the reflections.

I finished my GoldSmith beetle model, textured it, rigged it and put it it into a scene. And the render was so stink'n cool (Or atleast that's what I think) I put it up for you guy's to feast your eyes on. I mean if I didn't know for sure that I would break my nose and anything else possible to brake doing a back-flip, I would be doing them all around the room right now. Tell me what you think. I wnat to here your comments and crits. But know that changes won't take place, because now that I'm done with this render I'm moving on to other projects. P.S. This scene was done using one light and no radiosity. Yeah, I can't figure it out either.

This is just an test in doing photo comp. The clip is inspired by some norwegian tv vignette, where all sorts of objects hovers to create this two. It is however a bit of work behind this, I took approximately 60 images of my livingroom that i stitched together to make an environment map and IBL image. I had to go back to "global color" instead of IBL, since the IBL gave the groundplane an unwanted colorburn. The coin is made by coloring a coin with a felt pen, and the rubbing its surface with some paper to get the patter showing, then I scanned it. scanning the coin without the coloring gave me just the highlights. The scanned image got some ps fixing, and then was used …
