I am making a Star Wars Fanfilm taking place during the Clone Wars and need some help... I've made a few things, including a Battle Droid, that you can see at: http://www.geocities.com/akastudiossite/battledroid I need some help making a Clone Trooper. I'm no good with human form and armor and things like that. If anyone could even attempt to make one for me I'd be very thankful. I'd give you all the credit for it in the beginning and end credits of my film and send you clips that I use your model in as my film progresses. Please send any Clone Trooper models (or actually, any Star Wars models that you have, I might be able to use them, but I REALLY…

After staring at the computer screen for quite a while, I have it! (Eureka?) I've decided to make a spoof of a movie. It will probably hilariously funny to my friends and me, but leave other people thinking "What???" But I'm getting off topic. so, its a spoof on mission: impossible (movie, not TV series)...with pants and stuff @ a department store. There, I said it. =P Just in the beginning now, however. Plot is not secured yet, so suggestions are very, very welcome. I am re-watching the movie tonight to refresh my memory. Here is a simple pants model, which I can modify to make other pants.

Hi all! I love modeling/animating but I never finnish stuff because I come to a point where i realize I'm not good enugh with A:M. So what I ask is this: Say some easy stuff to make! Anything, dosen't matter what is it. Just so I can get a nice touch with the program. (I have done all the tutorials.) And one more thing, is it worth upgrading to V13? I'm running v11.1 now. //Korken

Here’s another one possibly for Hash Films guys… This is a Terminix scoreboard animation that was for the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies. The animation has been featured at the Grizzlies home turf at the FedEX forum in Memphis, Tennessee. It was also recently used in Anaheim, California for the NHL’s Mighty Ducks. I modeled, rigged and animated the spider in Animation Master. This movie is the actually size of the scoreboard animation used inside the FedEX Forum… Scoreboard Animation This is some footage inside the FedEx Forum of the spider animation… Inside FedEX Forum

I've been working on this metal flake material, in v8.5, in my spare time. I really wanted to capture the sparkling quality as the perspective changed. I rememberd a tuturial by Charles Babbage: "Diffraction Grating 101", where he used a multi-gradient tree for specular accents. I figured I could do the same thing for a whole material by adjusting the "edge surface" property, by rotating you see the same material slightly offset with some colors attributes switched, giving it a twinkling appearance. Still needs a little work. Metal Flake Test .MOV If someone would like to repost, please do so. (low, low bandwidth) And incase your wondering "Why did he…

Well, I've jumped from making a decent looking decal of a rivet to a full rivet map. The problem was that in order to get the rivet decal to look as crisp as I wanted in the render, I upped the resolution at which I created the decal considerably. The model is 170' long on the horizontal, scaled 1:1 in AM. The decal map is the length of the model and several times it's height. All in all the map is 2.12MB. I tried resizing the map after I finished with all the rivet placement, but when I applied the resized map to the model, the rivets were noticeably degraded (see second pic). I'm no Photoshop wizard, so I may be doing something wrong. Here are the spe…

Okay, so here are some shots from a fly-through animation of the Sol system model I'm putting the finishing touches on for the Extra II DVD. All the image maps are either from JPL, NASA or one of their observatories. They are free for public consumption and reuse as we see fit. (Yes, I will have the appropriate End User License file in the project.) So far I have all the 9 planets, the sun (Sol) as well as all of the cataloged and named satellites of each planet. There are some newly discovered satellites that have only been cataloged and not officially named, so I will leave those out for the time being. Each planet model has a pose for the axial tilt as w…

Here's a progress video of the character in my avatar which I'm making for a project I'm working on. The head in the first frame is from a character I made previously so, this character grew out of that one. There aren't as many steps as I'd like but it's all the models I have. The original concept was inspired by a sketch. testbrat.wmv

Looking at Wm.Sutton's Mr.Dodo, in which he used the hair function for feathers, I'm wondering if anyone's used it for masses of vegetaion. Seems an umbrella-like dome could be duped and stacked to form treetops. Smaller ones with dodo-like 'feathers' could serve as bushes.

I have attached a file of a short scene rendered in 'Final' output. The 'shag emitter' used to simulate grass displays unwanted changes in the background during the animation (beginning on 2nd frame, and then again at about 2 1/2 seconds in). This anamoly does not appear when rendering in 'shaded' mode. Could the problem be that 'dynamics' is defaulted to "on" in the 'shag emitter'? I'd like some advice before rendering again - this 3 second shot took 17 hours to render at HDTV 1080 resolution. Which brings me to my next question. What is the recommended rendering resolution to bring my targa files into Adobe Premiere 2 for compiling. My intended output will be DVD…

So, I just finished a banzai weekend doing the 48hr film project. Among other things (I was the DP) it was my job to do the credit sequence. The trick was that although I was allowed to create objects and images ahead of time, the animation all had to be completed within the 48 hrs. In fact, because I was DP, and due to the nature of the project, I actually had to create them Sunday morning. My solution was to do a credit sequence that required very little keyframing and used simcloth to do the hard labor. I am attaching the final sequence and the project (minus images) ready to simulate. I thought this came out pretty cool. endcred_low.mov credit_sequence.…

Hello- I was attempting the tutorial on Newton Physics... the one where you have 3 cylinders that are supposed to tumble on themselves. http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?act=A...st&id=19636 Each cylinder is set to be a dynamic object and the ground is static. Pretty basic stuff, but I get this error message when I right click on one of the cylinders in Choreography: I am using V17a and after receiving the error message I copied the "explode.hxt" from the V16 Hxt folder into the v17 Hxy folder ,thinking that might help...(because there was no "explode.hxt" in the v17 folder). Didn't help... Has anyone had similar issues...or any sugges…

I'm gonna really try on this one.

We are working on our first CG film over here after a few years of traditional stop-motion work. Our problem is in deciding which route to take. We are leaning toward cel shading for the project we are planning. It seems to compliment the stop-motion work done in the past, but second opinions are always welcome here. So... what do you think: 3-D? or Cel Shade? I have a little poll on my site for those that care to participate: Justincurfman.com News Here are some of our past stop-motion films

Here's a final render of the company holiday greeting I had in the WIP forum. This render uses the h.264 codec so you may need QT player 7 to see it. Turn on your speakers! This is what we still need to accomplish: Keep it at good quality but at or about 3megs; be able to email it in a format that won't be blocked by firewalls (my boss is concerned that many of the law firms who are our customers have firewalls that block .mov files but not .avi files. I'm not sure if this is true or not but it's how she feels) settle on a format that is viewable by as many people as possible (therefore h.264 maybe a problem). enable it to play right in the emai…

I've had AM for sometime and decided to model a human as a way to improve my skills. I'm not completely happy with the proportions of the face and would appreciate comments from any real artists on the forum. I think she looks too masculine. There are no decals on the skin, just procedurals. I planned on using the bump and diffuse procedurals as a base for the decals. I was curious if anyone had used this technique with success. Rudimentary attempts to animate using pose sliders seemed to work really well, but I wasn't completely happy with the model and had to delete the poses. (that was a learning experience right there) I modeled the body separately and …

When I was but a pup, I was an avid reader of Air Trails magazine. Their premier artist was Douglas Rolf. Rolf drew with a very fine, almost fragile line [no color, minimal shadows] but very, very precise. His stuff was beautiful. Recently I went through years of morgue files culling out the chaff, and found a stack of xeroxes of his work. Among those drawings [just as good as I remember] was this plane: an Art Deco gem designed by Hugo Junkers somewhere in the mid-30's. It never got beyond blueprints and a scale model. But what a plane! I googled it, and even on Google, it's rare. There is a seaplane version that I'll play with next week. [on the trailing edge …

Hi Gang More Questions as always Found a post by dre4merback in July of 2006 and like to know more about it. http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=22912 I have checked through this thread and the vid clips are what I am looking for on my model. I have my model rigged with the 2001 rig and need her sleeves to move like the above movies, so how did you do that? What bones is the cloth attached to? I have done the cloth and deflector materials and created new bones, tested all kinds of ideas and just can't seem to get it. If I attach the material to different arm bones when you move the arm it rolls and flips but nothing like cloth, any suggestions?dre…

Attached is a night time fly by of an Apache Longbow helicopter. It is the first time I have used the Quicktime format for animation, so I have several things I am concerned about. (1) Does it play ok? (sound, etc.), (2) It is a compromise between showing enough detail of the model vs. the night time environment. So does it seem to look fairly realistic? and (3) Every animator's request, do you see anything to improve it?Apache1.mov

Ok..this is getting really frusturating. I'm creating a set of teeth following the tuturial of "baby face", by Colin Freeman (see link below) I'm at the part when I delete half of the gums and all of this weird spline "web" shows up. (screenshot below). Link: http://www.colins-loft.net/CoopMouth.html (scroll down to the teeth part) I'm thinking it's when I create the gum...the tuturial says "Make sure you draw this at the height of the gum not the low point." I don't know what that means so I just tried to copy the pic...also, I can't tell if I'm supposed to connect that gum to the the tooth, or what! Help me please. Thanks in advance
