Okay, so here are some shots from a fly-through animation of the Sol system model I'm putting the finishing touches on for the Extra II DVD. All the image maps are either from JPL, NASA or one of their observatories. They are free for public consumption and reuse as we see fit. (Yes, I will have the appropriate End User License file in the project.) So far I have all the 9 planets, the sun (Sol) as well as all of the cataloged and named satellites of each planet. There are some newly discovered satellites that have only been cataloged and not officially named, so I will leave those out for the time being. Each planet model has a pose for the axial tilt as w…

I'm working on this skull head I got at a store a while back. I made a turn table and took 4 view pic and started rotoscoping it. I was thinking of adding the little dots and lines on the model but didn't.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=y29l0h-1yAE Just finished a VERY RETAIL TV spot for my recurring client, Art Van Furniture. The imagery was generated by decalling furniture photos to A:M geometry. Of note: I used the BensLens Fisheye to get the 'barrel-roll' effect (I love) and you can really see it in the middle on the words 'FUNCTION-STYLE-FASHION' Also used the AI Wizard for titles and Field Render for video smoothness... client LOVED it!

The latest addition to my railroad needs long sheets of diamond pattern steel plate. I wanted these plates to look well used, slightly rusty and to have varying amounts of dried dirt on them. I wasn't looking forward to building the material because while it's relatively easy to build show-room new surface finishes, I had never been happy with any of my attempts at old steel and procedural dirt looked too much like soft edged clouds. I thought the only way I could get hard edged dirt would be a decal. However after much experimentation I've got a material that's more than adequate. At this distance it's fairly convincing. The diamond pattern is a tiled normal decal. …

Hi - just wanted to thank everyone who answered my numerous questions while working on this project. I finished the lotion girl to the best she is going to be... she's not Joe Williamsen's Hunter, I've got quite a way to go until I am anywhere near there Anyway, the client wanted the "Bratz Doll" look. Here is a link to the animation on her website and a couple images below. Not real happy with the lip sync, I have some practicing to do with that as well, but the project was taking too long and the client was happy so moving on. Have a great weekend, and thanks again for all your quick forum responses - Eric Animation: http://www.discountindoortanninglotions.co…

Hey Hashers! Been a little while since I last posted, so I wanted to throw some recent projects up. None of them are finished, but I think they're getting close. Love feedback from my fellow Hashers, so please comment. I did everything except the laptop. Can someone please tell me who modeled the laptop? I would like to reciprocate to this kind stranger. Cheers to you all and happy Hashing! Shawn NotFinished.mp4 NotFinished2.mp4

As you will (not ) hear, the sound on this short is not done yet. The first 40 seconds or so is silent and the music has a click track running through it. At least its obvious that they weren't lifted from the original ! My friend is going to do that in the next few days... This is an assembly edit of the project. There are three versions of it. This one, one were the lights don't change colour and the camera moves a bit more, and one using a Toon render. The movements are the same in all of them, only the setting changes. The quality is not very good as its taken off a medium quality lower res version. The original is in 1080 HD and this is 320 x 240 three gene…

Just saw that John (Artbox) Henderson has updated his Artbox site! Very cool John! Music and Everything. Link: http://skycast.artboxanimation.com/ I believe the site requires flash to view and enter. For anyone you doesn't know this is the home of Skycast program. Sure wish I had time to play with my copy... Hope I'm not linking too soon. Forgive if I am.

I've been working on this metal flake material, in v8.5, in my spare time. I really wanted to capture the sparkling quality as the perspective changed. I rememberd a tuturial by Charles Babbage: "Diffraction Grating 101", where he used a multi-gradient tree for specular accents. I figured I could do the same thing for a whole material by adjusting the "edge surface" property, by rotating you see the same material slightly offset with some colors attributes switched, giving it a twinkling appearance. Still needs a little work. Metal Flake Test .MOV If someone would like to repost, please do so. (low, low bandwidth) And incase your wondering "Why did he…

Now, at the end of my journey, I'm inviting you to view the Special Youtube premier of 'Hansel & Gretel'. I'm planning to show the complete and finished 30 mins movie in an one time special premier show on Youtube. Then this movie will be released on DVD. This Youtube broadcast will be a special show for many reason. First of all it'll be a Private show. Not a public show. So, you have to mail me to your e-mail ID to send an invitation from Youtube. Still lots of fiddling for textures to do on this, here is the first test render. In particular I need to fix the darkness on the buns and redo the bump map on all as well as redo the lettuce texture. The tomato slice also needs a bump map.

Hi I am still trying to get my mechanical model into a pleasing composition and at the moment I am working on the terrain. I have been playing with different camera angles and depth of field. I particularly wanted to use D.O.F to help give some atmospheric perspective but my results are less than satisfactory. Here is an example with depth of field with just 4 passes:

Bought a WWI flying game a few months ago. Given my weakness for flying things, it spills over into A:M. Got an itch to play with Hansa-Brandenburgs...here's the result. On Dec.11, 1917 a flight of three W-12s led by ObLtn. Friedrich Christiansen, was on the homeward leg of their patrol. Nearing the coast, the No.3 plane, the 'Tail-End Charley', spoted an Asta-Torres airship and dove to the attack. Christiansen and his other wingman turned back to join in, but by the time they arrived it was burning. Neither plane could add much to the process as the C27 was already going down. Being Flt. Leader, Christiansen claimed the kill, and it was confirmed. After the war, in …

Hallo und Willkommen to my first ever render with A:M version 12. It's a grand piano, and it's a very dynamic caustic/radiosity/ratrace picture! and even better... i made it a stereo, bacause... they're just so dang awesome. Let me know what you guys think, and feel free to give any suggestions about the picture. I love modeling objects more than people... i wonder why? lol Does anyone know what happend to the anti-alies control in rendering? My piano stereo is divoide of smooth edges! "WHO WILL MAKE BENDER WAFFELS THE WAY HE LIKES THEM NOW!!!" lol.

I'm so excited! - I know this is not much by many standards, but the clip below features a model completely created and rigged by me and is my best work so far in A:M. Using Mike Caputo's rigging tutorial from the A.R.M., I managed to accomplish a simple but working animateable rig. Alas, the links to these tutorials are currently dead, but hopefully will be up again soon. If anyone has info on his "FK to IK" arm tutorial, please forward. I've got it working pretty well, but I believe I'm missing a step when constraining the "IK Bicep to Elbow". I am learning simCloth after purchasing the 2005 Siggraph DVD from Hash, Inc. Mark Weller's tutorial is very informati…

I'm working on a project where I will be using Lambrina (From the extra's CD), giving her creator, Den Beauvais, credit for her creation. The info file does not tell me what version she was created in. She will be in a red dress. My partner in crime, the esteemed Mr. Spleen, is working on the model and exploring the vagaries of cloth simulation. I on the other hand, am approaching things from a different tack. I wish to make a walk cycle of her in the red dress, and intend to manipulate the dress using Smartskin. Which brings me to my conundrum. The model in bones mode shows perfectly good right and left thigh bones. However when I go to create a pose to work …

Hello- I was attempting the tutorial on Newton Physics... the one where you have 3 cylinders that are supposed to tumble on themselves. http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?act=A...st&id=19636 Each cylinder is set to be a dynamic object and the ground is static. Pretty basic stuff, but I get this error message when I right click on one of the cylinders in Choreography: I am using V17a and after receiving the error message I copied the "explode.hxt" from the V16 Hxt folder into the v17 Hxy folder ,thinking that might help...(because there was no "explode.hxt" in the v17 folder). Didn't help... Has anyone had similar issues...or any sugges…

I posted my dice character earlier. I now have a walk cycle for him. I tried constructing it three different ways. First, I tried starting with the down positions, then the contact positions. My final try was starting with the hip up and down motion and then going back to the beginning and, starting with the contact positions, went straight ahead. I liked this one the best. None of them were hard to put together, but I attribute that to A:M's great tools rather than my skill. I am posting my last effort. All comments and crits (of the work, not my religious or political beliefs) welcome! Scott Dice_Walk.mov

Hi, this is my first post here and I thought it would be a good idea to kick things off with my idea for a project. Anyone who is familiar with the Silent Hill game series would probably get a kick out of this. A while back, I played a Silent Hill RPG with a few friends. Horror generally doesn't translate to a TTRPG very well, but our GM did a spectacular job scaring the crap out of us on a regular basis. And now that the game is over (at least for the time being), I had an idea to put together a series of short animated films based on our adventures. So far I have very little work done, other than a VERY low-quality model with simple materials and boning done, but t…
