Here's a test of a rotating camera rig that is part of your model. The rig is installed in our very on Thom model. All camera movement is done with pose sliders.

Star Trash II: The Wrath of Pecan is currently in post production. It seemed like a good idea to post a trailer. The link to it is in the lower left corner of the web page. Enjoy! Link to the Trailer

Here's a little project I thought would be fun to knock out but which soon turn into a lesson on the proper use of the Bias controls for the logo's flames. I definately feel like I learned how to control/unerstand them a little better because of this.

Here's an experiment using sprites for the clouds on a path , but also manipulating the path to change the shape of the clouds. It rough and I lost the project, but I can duplicate it quick if anyone is interested. I set the emitter to 100% transparency, but as you can see there is a ufo (the emitter) flying around stirring up the clouds.

So...I've been modeling a new character. But I started to work on the foot, and I completed a little more than half of it. But for some reason there is an area which is protruding from it, that always ends at 0,0 on the grid; no matter where I put the rest of the foot. This happened to me before and I was able to fix it. But this time, the "thing" has no CP's or splines or anything. I don't know how it got there, but it just won't go away. Its totally brought my work to a screeching halt. If Someone could solve this mystery I would appreciate it very much. Thanks! Robert Lazzarini

With the help of KenH, and JohnArtbox, I was able to figure out how to get a model into AM V11, and have it look halfway decent! I had to edit the .obj before I brought it into AM to lighten it a bit, but it came in without a hitch, and as you can see looks great, thanks to Porcelain.mat. Anyway, my first tests, and more will follow. My next goal is to decal this head, and try displacement tests with it. Wish me luck!

Hey! This is a first pass of a little short I'm working on. It's my first real animation and I would appreciate any pointers anyone can give. In particular, I'm having difficult with what to do with the hands. Anyway, let me know what you think. Here's the 900kb file: Baby Blues

I was thinking of modeling a calculator for awhile, but then I started. It has an insane 1492 patches. Originally, before spline reduction, it had well over 2000 patches. I sort of did a small preparation before hand for this by modeling my masterlator. I don't know what it should do, I just made it as preparation. I'm the creator, how should I know what it does? Anyway here's a pic of that: Note that the M is not a bump map. I actually took time to engrave that.

Hello all. This may be the first time I've posted a still image in "Showcase." Takes a lot less time to render than an animation... I was in a community theater of production of "Dracula" (closes tonight, in fact) and as a gift for the cast and crew, I was going to make a parody animation. Well, I only got the idea a week before closing and that's a quick turnaround time even for me, so I elected to make them a movie poster instead, with the promise of a movie to come. Anyway, the poster turned out pretty well, I think, so here it is.

Well, im back to teaching Martial arts and personal training. My master is putting together a fight choreography scene for a internet movie, and I though I take the time to mess with Hash again. See if I can put together a fight scene in 3D. So I still need more time to polish the model and tweak the bump map on the torso. More nurnnys on the sword. Been awhile, and rehashing the things I know about hash. So this is my spare model that I am redoing, I have another I want to use, but using this one to figure my way around. If anyone remember my old project will remember Erica, I haven't given her new hair yet, thats next.

I'm making this DNA molecule project available in response to this thread. It's a little tricky to work with: the four nucleotides are different models, with each atom modeled as an eight-patch sphere. There's a separate model for the skeleton of a seven-base pair double helix composed of non-rendering splines, with an action that adds the nucleotides to it as action objects. The choreography contains three instances of the helix stacked on top of each other, with the bottom two instances having "translate to" and "orient like" constraints to the top instance. Basically, this molecule has a strand that repeats the sequence GATTACA three times, together with its comple…

I am relatively new to modeling. I think the 1951 Mercury might be good for a start. This is the most original and unmodified pic I have found yet: As for this one, Cool but NO NO, it's been modified: ANYHOW, anyone got Rotoscopes for the side and back of a Mercury before I start modeling... .

Hello! I haven't posted in a long time...but I thought that my friends at Hash would like to see some old stuff that I recently revamped. The first you may remember from a while ago, but I recently went crazy in Photoshop and I think it turned out really well. The second is a newer one that I think turned out really well. The figure was done in A:M and then put onto the Photoshoped clouds. Tell me what you think![attachmentid=14353][attachmentid=14354]

I started working on a project that I started awhile back, rerigging the kong model with the squetch rig (still lots to do). Unfortunately, at the time I didn't realize that materials are lost during import of the model into the rig, so he has no fur, will rerig at some point. I saw the post by MrBones for the bvh files (thanks) and tried it out using Andy's tut (and thank you) on using them with the squetch rig. Here's the test, I think he had a few too many. BVH_test.mov

I have a PS filtered version with grain and more contrast to simulate a newsreel look, but am having difficulty compressing the final version without the compressor having trouble with the grain effect, any one got any ideas for a work around? The unfiltered version is here for any who want to have a look, it is .wmv format, 519kb. http://www.dsntc.com/SS_Cedric/Cedric.html Ian

This is just a test render for a animation i intend to do in the near future... this is my first render with radiosity.... and i don't know... i think it's pretty cool. I kind of like how the walls look like cement, or at least they look like cement to me. I tweaked the cornell box a little-------> changed wall color, deleted the boxes inside, and changed the color that the lights project....in order to fit what i needed, and also added some speakers i made. For the animation: the robot has a cd player on the front of him, but i can't figure out how to model the cd tray. so i might just model a simple cd player, like the ones in cars, and just put …

Hi Everyone, I am making a Honey Pot and I would like the 3D Text to sit on the outside surface of my pot. Instead of using decal, I want the text to have 3d thickness. Would anyone know how to do this? Also, I lost the model 3x when I hit the undo button two times in a row. I thinking it might be related to the curled in top surface. Was I going too fast? Have you ever run into this before? Thanks, Bob

Just informing you all that I've joined the CGTalk Machineflesh Challenge. You can find the thread at http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=130145 I don't think I have a chance of winning... but if I get a single vote I'd be happy. Check it out. I highly encourage others to try it out. It's a 3 month challenge and it's a great way to learn, show off your skills, and represent A:M in the larger CG community. Zachary Taich

After talking to Rodney Baker I decided to post a project file that was the result of a discussion on making a spherical constraint with Carl Raillard on CGTalk. Here's a description of what it does: When you open the "spherical.prj" project, it should have "Action1" open and ready to mess with (if not, double-click on "Action1" to open it). What you see is "Bone1" as the bone that defines the sphere, "Bone2" as the bone you would attach any geometry to and "Null2" (at the intersection of "Bone1" and "Bone2") which is the manipulator...there is also a "Null1" that is set so that it isn't seen which helps drive this. When you move "Null2" around ("Bone2" can be …

Hi i've been working on this little animation for most of the weekend. Its two actions a run cycle and a jump. I decided to use mr ball pretty much since he doesnt have arms to have to worry about, and i was inspired by some of the other mr ball animation on the forum. The run is very close copy of a run cycle in "The Animators Survival Kit" by Richard Williams I know the right foot has some funny issues i just couldnt seem to fix at certain points, will try to tweek them later. mrball.mov

Whipped this up in an hour for my reel...shows some of the capabilities of Steffan Gross's AWESOME newton Physics plug-in...which I am gonna use every chance I get. The collision detection scheme is the BEST I've seen yet coming out of A:M, and the plug-in is oh-so-easy to use. A GREAT addition to A:M's toolset. At D1 res each frame took 40 seconds. (No multipass) And big thanks to whoever wrote the helpful tutorial for the plug-in... I've lost the name. QUICKTIME is Sorenson3 compressed .8mb MCsmall.mov

Hello All, Oh man it has been a LONG time (over a year I think) since I'm visited here. I haven't had much time in the last few years to spend much energy/time in 3D but I'm making an effort to get back into it. Man I missed it! Anyway, I've started by trying to finish off a few projects that I left unfinished, in doing so I have run into a few issues between the way certain features work back in version 11 through 12.5 and version 14.0c which I am currently using. (Until I know I'm going to have the time and be able to stick with it I wasn't planning on upgrading to version 15 yet as there are changes in the way subscriptions work now.) OK I will post 2 ren…

I decided to enter the next mini-movie contest, with a star-wars themed film. This is a render of a "flub". That isn't the expression I put on his face, it's the one that's on his face when I open the project. (If I hit the space bar, it switches back to normal). So, I decided to get a nice shot of Lazlo (The character, not the... uh, me...) in all his geeky glory.

In the attached image I have several different styles of simple "building" graphics all created from one model with several poses. Now... check out the short building and the tall building. I am using a "window" decal with a color image and a bump image with a repeat. For the tall building I increase the vertical repeat.. depending on the height I increase or decrease this value. My question is this... I am very lazy... would there be a way to "link" the Y repeat of one image in a decal to another image? ... or... for bonus points, would there be a way to link the Y repeat value to the value of the "height" pose? I would love to have the "windows"…

This is the biggest format I ever had to output from A:M for. It only needed to be 30dpi, but at 32 feet wide, I had to crank out about 30K pixels wide. That certainly had my computer begging for more (memory)! I put some pictures of the finished billboard near the top of my home page: Atkinson Productions web site

Hello chaps, It just struck me that it's been almost 2 or 3 months since I last posted any work here and that I've mainly been commenting other peoples stuff. However, a new school year means new inspiration, so here goes. Here's my attempt at a semi-realistic human, male head. The forehead and backhead is still under work, so is his nose and his mouth(I don't like his mouth at all, it doesn't look good):

When they dig your teeth into you they inject a virus which kills you. Their toungs are a weird blueish because they cut it on their teeth so much.

I was trying to show as speed increased there was faster tire rotation so I made the rotation in an action and gave it stride length then constrained the tire to a path. the first second I set the ease at 15% so the tire would rotate slow as it moved then at the end of the 3rd second I had ease 100% so it would race to the end.I added some streaks to help show the movement as well as a marking on the tire. Now I ask does this look right? rate.mov rate.zip I was doing this because of a question I received about expressions and I thought this would be easier Its a little rough but I am half asleep Johnl3d tink
