As any of you who have seen my movie may have guessed, I am a Terminator Fan. I can only take credit for Texturing & Piecing it together. I took the Arni head from the Hash CD, put hair on it, Textured the face, & placed it on the Jeff model from the Hash CD. Put a Jacket on him but it still needs to be textured to look more like a leather Jacket. Comments, Suggestions? Check it out: My Terminator Page Maybe after I'm happy with this I'll make a Terminator metal EndoSkeleton model...

Hey guys, I've spent the last day or two tinkering around with the idea of a low-res BB batman for fun. Anyway, I couldn't find many great reference images, so the majority of the work has been guessing. Meh, I'm not losing much sleep over it either. I know there are a couple hard angles and other kinks to work out, but I don't intend to render this guy at 800 x 600 at all. ...Tommorrow, the utility belt.

A martian tripod from "The War Of The Worlds". I was intending just to put together something like a proxy version, as I wanted to get the gait sorted out first, but I got a bit carried away.

I've been busy with this. Roughly 24 hours modeling, 8 UV Mapping & Texturing, 12 rigging. Here's the result so far: No matter what I've tried, I haven't been able to get the front legs to look right. I think I'm going to have to make them a separate group with their own hair system, so that I can control the density separately. I've been trying to hold off on that, because I don't want to re-groom, but I guess I I'll have to. I built the rig myself, which wound up being easier than I thought. I couldn't use TSM because bears don't have the back legs of a quadruped, they have back legs like a biped. So, with some trial and error, I managed to co…

Hello, all! I just bought A:M about three weeks ago, after reading a press release that an OS X version had been released. I'm not a 3D artist, but I am a graphic designer and A:M seemed like an affordable way to experiment and play with 3D. Anyway, as I started playing, I decided I'd focus on trying to figure out how to model some of the comic characters I'd worked on in the past and decided I'd start with a parody of Star Trek I'd started as a web comic back in 1996 and then did as a PDF comic in 2000. The character designs I'd used were pretty simple and there was a focus on character to them, rather than striving for likenesses. (You never know what they'll …

Three animations I have been playing with over the last couple of years in the gallery at http://members.optusnet.com.au/~s_bruce/index.html Its the first time I have thrown a web page up so hopefully it all works. They are all exercises I have used to learn AM for another project. Although I am tempted to do some shorts with the frog. The Aloevera flower spike is 2 models. The stem and a bud which is attached to it 80 times. Took a while to render but not as bad as the frog which averaged 2.5 hrs per frame. I did have the frog down to 30 minutes per frame using a multipass light rig but had some problems with artifacts on displacement maps so dropped b…

Okay... this was my first model right out of the box..... I have since changed my mind about the design (I am working on an independent production that will have animated aspects, and decided to try it myself) I feel it needs to be weathered.... so it doesn't look so shiny and new. And, I'm having some difficultied boning it so things don't overlap... the rockets are designed to rotate on the base, and revolve 360 around an axis, but they seem to turn off the axis at certain angle.... I would like to figure out how to "limit" their movements to one axis. You can't get too technical with me.... I will admit I'm more creative than technical. So.... whadd…

I've been working on this off and on for a while, a few hours making weeks letting it sit around, and really want it to look good. It is a Temple like design loosely based on Greek/Roman style. Will be made of marble. However my materials turn out too unrealistic and I need some help. Also in its final form it will be atop a hill/mountain to and I don't know if it would look better new or ruinous. So basically any help would be nice.

Hi all, I'm trying to render a scene with some furry animals stampeding. In the initial test renders the fur goes crazy stretching beyond it's length and penetrating the kows's bodies. I've tried setting dynamic sample at various figures up to 2048 and all of the different dynamic types without success. Setting the dynamic type to none removes the hair stretching, but doesn't fix the hair penetrating the skin.....has anyone come up with a recipe for hair collision detection that works? I downloaded the hair tech talk which unfortunately is a comprehensive reference to everything but collision detection. [attachmentid=15598] stampede.mov

This is just the ground floor of a multi-story building, the design of which is loosely based on a local building (but it's not called the Brill Building). The sidewalk needs more dirt and clutter. And yes, there is a clone of the building across the street so there's something to reflect in the windows. Next step is the upper floors.

I took a very old model and apply to what I have learn from all these years. Rework the mouth for animation, rework the hip area for smoother bending without using so many fan bones. Use TSM2 and weight mover. Use the latest Hair Particle where before she had a mesh cap on. Use simple Dynamic constraint where before there were two aim bone and a spring system. With the later version of Hash AM, I think I have reduce rigging more then half the time and it works better than before for animation. http://www.gentlechifitness.com/images/EJ_walking_chor.mov I haven't figure out how to smooth out the dynamic constraint in a walk cycle? There is a little jerk between t…

With everybody making head models, I felt the urge to play with making one today, going for more realistic than I normally do. I borrowed the ear from my v3 Krok model. Not liking the mouth right now, but still, fun to mess with... I should point out that I model the whole head rather than doing that face mask thing.

I created some water ala Chuck Babbage and wanted to place my submarine in the middle to simulate the sub on the surface. When I render the water by itself, it looks great. When I render the sub by itself, that also looks pretty cool. When I combine both in the chor, I get this: see attached. Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening? I can't attach the file due to high cp count. p.s. I just did a render again in case this was a fluke, but I got the same results. Multipass is off, fog is off, the scene is in camera view, targa sequence is on, and the render takes about an hour - certainly long enough to also render the missing sub. Oh yeah, r…

Ok, here's the thing, a couple of buddies and I are working on a short animation. Right now I'm developing the characters for the short. The main character is a bird, a caribbean grackle to be exact. At the same time, we're also working on the look of the film. I'm pretty sure I've got it nailed down, but of course, I wanna let ya'll in on it, so you can post your comments (if any). What do you think of the colors? What would be the best way of doing these characters in AM. Specially the bird, I'm debating over wether I should use the hair systems in AM 11. I don't want my computer to become too sluguish in the process of animating the sucker.

So I am getting a little carried away. With A:M its very easy too! After doing "It's a Pitch" by the book, I thought "Wow, this is cool!" So, I just had to do some elaboration on this one. I am getting ahead of my self in many ways, but that drives the learning. Now I need to figure out how to switch to the 2nd camera for the next shot. I have it set up to aim at the rabbit for his walk to the door, but haven't figured out how to keyframe a camera switch. http://www.bitterjewelerfilms.com/Stuck%20Door.wmv

This is an improved, higher resolution version of my 2nd place winning entry for the July 2004 Sci-Fi/Fantasy image contest. The original version can be seen here on A:M Stills. I've tried rendering this scene in both A:M version 11.1i and 12.0e. The rendering done in 12.0e, shown in this post, has much better quality image maps, but it took me over three hours to render it in 12.0e as opposed to 22 minutes in 11.1i. Can anything be done about that?

Hi all! I'm currently working on this landscape illustration for a book cover. There are a couple of problems I'm encountering. First of all, I'm using a hair material for the leaves on the trees, but when I render it out, A:M simply crashes. I think the problem is that I don't have enough system resources. I'm running v11c on a 2.4 Pentium 4 with 512mb of RAM. Anyway, there's still a lot of texture work to be done, and details to be added. The biggest challenge for me thus far, is the leaves for the trees. I must say, I'm struggling with this. The water texture is also another challenge that I must tackle pretty soon. Please let me know what you guys think…

This is a charity music video to help support fire fighters widows and children. Far Star Productions. Inc. donated the special effects and the editing. The Angel models were made by Andy Mulia and animation was done by both Andy and me. The editing was done by my production company partner, Elisa Llamido. If you would like a DVD or the cd you can order it through the America We Stand As One website. It is a charity so there is no set price to receive the DVD or the cd; they ask that you donate what you can and spread the word of Love. Peace! http://www.americawestandasone.com/home.html

Here's an experiment using sprites for the clouds on a path , but also manipulating the path to change the shape of the clouds. It rough and I lost the project, but I can duplicate it quick if anyone is interested. I set the emitter to 100% transparency, but as you can see there is a ufo (the emitter) flying around stirring up the clouds.
