I am working on a possible mini movie contest entry. The action takes place in a baseball game. I am attaching a short clip showing a possible opening shot where the camera flies in to center on the pitcher. I am also attaching a larger still that shows the lighting in better resolution. I am looking for comments and critiques on the set and the lighting. The characters are not posed in anyway other than a pose that is not the standard T pose. When the camera zooms in the pitcher is very likely to be in a different pose and there will be more players on the field. Also, there be a little more detail on the field such as foul lines and markings on the outfield w…

Take 1 computer game model, scoop out its head, chop off an A:M model's head, stuff it in the helmet, put a pose slider on the visor, and... You can make something like this, too: (why you'd want to, I don't know.)

I've started once again on a generic anime figure, as part of my Steampunk Samurai Saga. I've only got the head so far:[attachmentid=13993] I think he needs another spline ring around the eyes, and around the mouth. (Actually, the spline from the corner of the nostril should go around the mouth, I think). Also, the ear is still rough. I need to add more detail to it. Other than that, how is it looking so far?

Funny story behind this. So I am taking a 3D Animation course at the college I am going to, and the program we are using is Cinema 4D. We are doing a bouncing ball project, and I decided to do it in the program I am familiar with as well as C4D. I will compare the two when I am done and upload a comparison video if I see fit. You can also see the animation in Flash format BallBounce.mov - Quicktime BallBounce on Revver - Flash

working on some art for an iphone game i'm building and here's my 2nd attempt at armor. v3 will probably be my keeper. this armor set is what all my units will wear primarily with different textures for each race and the few unique armors that actually change the graphic of a unit on the battle screen, will be additional shoulder pads and helmets to this basic armor model. for instance 6 different armors all have this model for their base armor set but differ from each other by shoulder/head graphic. did it in about 5 hours and the video took about 2 hours to render haha. i'm considering trying a v2.5 with a more cartoony, Mii style character model with bubblie…

Hey everybody. Whats goin on? I haven't posted much lately, last thing I was doing was working on my "jaguar xk" car but my computer crashed and I lost the file. Kindof a bummer, but I'll get over it. So, I was gettin kinda tired with just modeling and wanted to get to animating. So I made a basic character that'd be pretty easy to animate. Its all rigged and stuff but just with the TSM2 rig (no smartskin or fan bones or nuthin). I figured I'd put it up here for comments and critiques and if you guys want it later I could donate it to the forum or the next CD or somethin. K. Cool. Lemme know what you think. Later-

Well, I've got most of the things up on my website up that I want. I just needs some tweaking and a lot more (new) content. I hope to have time to actually work some on my short during the next month, so I expect some new stuff within a month. I guess the address would be good. http://www.tartpi.com/ Feedback is always welcome.

So...I'm doing this basics..posing. Over the course of the next week or so I'll simply be posing scenarios with a simple generic character and I need your input on them..The first one is "victory" I can already see that I need more spine curve exaggeration and the raised arm needs to be extremed some more..what else?

Hello All- I have been trying to make a basketball swish through a hoop with netting and do it in a dramatic way. Alas,..so far ..no success. I have embedded a project for anyone who wants to take a look. Basically I took a basketball backboard (from an old hash model library) and eliminated everything but the metal hoop and netting. Then I took a Basketball (also from an old model library) to use as the "deflector". Using Mark Weller's video tutorial on using the Sim cloth simulator I took his suggestion and used the very top row of cps in the netting as the "attached" part of the cloth so that the netting was stuck to the hoop. Before I even added …

I saw a few days ago that they were redesigning Batgirl after darkness of the New 52. I saw the pics, and decided to roll with it. They are going for a more fun Batgirl so they can get away from some the darker sides of Gotham. The only thing I really don't like about the design are the boots, but I have decided to stay fairly faithful to their representation. I am at the point where all my pieces are separate and I will begin to add the detail. I have SSS on everything, and the only decals so far are on the eyes. The boots are placeholder, though they will look similar to the ones in the image. I can't find the original story where I found the images I was u…

Here's a wip I have of a Bath tub project for Automation. This is what I wanted to use the 2 sided patch on but had to make an inner skin as instead. David EDIT: I don't know why the .m1v files play slowly (unless it's just my computer). It's too bad cause I get really good compression using them. tub2.m1v

So I am starting on a project and basing both character off some cartoon rotos I found on the interwebs. I don't know if they're from the same cartoon or not, I don't really care, haha. I just want them to look cool together. I am making each mesh from scratch, except for the hands which I took from my J.D. character. I might take more things from other models of mine, but I'm trying to remember how to do all this stuff - so making it again is the best way I'm thinking. Here's what I got so far of the Batman. Just the base body. Still have to add all the detail and fix stuff as I go along. I should also mention that this is just a screen grab. Thanks fo…

Hey guys, I've spent the last day or two tinkering around with the idea of a low-res BB batman for fun. Anyway, I couldn't find many great reference images, so the majority of the work has been guessing. Meh, I'm not losing much sleep over it either. I know there are a couple hard angles and other kinks to work out, but I don't intend to render this guy at 800 x 600 at all. ...Tommorrow, the utility belt.

Hey, everybody...as my time draws short (1 1/2 weeks) I've been trying to finish all of the things I've wanted to get done. One of those things was going back and cleaning up all of the modeling/animation/lighting errors in my movie Well...it turns out that I only had time to correct 1 shot and I chose the one that I felt had the best overall animation. Here's the new one (old one can be found at time 2:22 at above video): EDIT: Here's a compressed version...not as good and there's a big annoying blue frame at the end that I forgot to cut out. uhmistahcompressor.mov I changed a couple of things I think you'll notice right off the bat (no pun intende…

Hi Hashers Well after a two months of waiting the waiting is over, sadly I didn't make it to 'The Finalists' sob, sob... Still I did put this flick together rather quickly and I spent only six weeks of spare time on it but the other entries were very good. Here's the link: BBC New Animator BUT! Undettered I will now start work on my next project, which will hopefully have more of a story line and be more entertaining. For those of you that are interested here is my entry. It is 25mb big and you'll need quicktime to view it - enjoy! Bella Bear goes flower sniffin'

Here is a character is that I've been working on for a tiny short. Its a very simple character but I've been using it to try to learn to model and use the hair system. Over the course of the next few days/weeks, I'm hoping to tweak the model some, add a basic skeleton and set of controls, and possibly do an animation test or two in this thread. Suggestions in any area of the process at any time are greatly appreciated, Thanks, --Ross

I've been working on my short "Beany and the Giant Melon" a bit. I've run into some problems, but so far have been able to work around them decently. You can see a current render (just realtime) of the animation here. (its about 9.5 mB) Next on the checklist is to fix the "excited skip"...

Here is a first motion test for my bear character "Pana-Boon". I wanted to test the rig, and I have already starting working on the problem spots. There are several problems that I am currently working on. Some of them have to do with patches not receiving the correct color (neck) and others are problems with the mesh near the joints. Overall I think its staring to take shape. I have not used any smart skin yet. Its all bones and fan bones. Texturing needs to be done, especially the mouth, teeth, eyelids, etc. Finally he will be covered with the new version 11 hair. The rig has been completely built by myself. It uses Fk on the arms and IK on the legs. H…

I made this picture for my mom for her birthday. I made myself stay away from texture and realism for the most part, and tried to just focus more on the asthetic value of the picture a little more. It took probably 6 hours over the course of the week. The fir is always the biggest pain. Anyway, here it is.

Well it's been a long while. Little bit here, little bit there but I have something that I want to show. Yes, the lighting needs work. Yes, some of the sounds need a little tweaking. And yes, some of the textures might need modification. But what the hell, it tells the story so far! I will perfect it and add a little bit more before contecting the other bits I have done and then I think I will be almost half way through my little flick which should be all of 10-15 minutes. I am pleased... I think... BE WARNED IT IS NEARLY 60MB BIG AND YOU NEED QUICKTIME 5.0 OR ABOVE Bear Wood

Here is one of a bunch of characters that my uncle had for some kids stories so I thought I would give 3d Coat a whirl for the rough model design. I manually retopo'd the model and exported an obj, brought that into am and with a little cleanup got this. Some small tweaks but already have it rigged. Where I needed hooks I made simple triangles so they were easy to spot.

I have a klieg shining out of the side of the sub that casts these wierd beams. I just want a smooth diffuse beam. Tried rendering with multi pass and without - both show same funky beams. Tried volumetrics on and off, no difference. Anyone? There is also a plain bulb in the wheelhouse which is not doing what I want. I want the bulb to dramatically illuminate the inside of the wheelhouse with a good amount of light shining through the bulb windows but not through the rest of the hull. Any suggestions?

I like to balance a little good news with a little bad news... THE BAD: Here is an example of the 'render anomoly' where my shadows 'pop' and I am wondering if anyone gets this upon rendering animations. THE GOOD: BEER! I recently modeled and animated a nice glass of beer! TO SEE the GOOD and BAD: Roll over my avatar and you will see a button to play the avatar full quicktime. THE BEER: The cool stuff with the beer (still dinking with it) is the bubbles and the auto gravity pose and the empty pose. For the bubbles, I made two :15 animations in AdobeAfterEffects of rising bubbles with an alpha. I then applied those cookie-cut style to geometry cut an…

The spitball rock on which the Sentinel spends his time [his life?] is pretty much devoid of life, but there are large, torpid, harmless beetles in the snow areas. They appear as rocks poking out of the snow until Beast wanders too close and they slowly start to shuffle away. Occasionally, one cannot move out of range fast enough and will rear up and make ritual threatening gestures, then sink back out of sight. BEETLE_TEST.zip

Hi! I have this character maybe some have seen in a couple tests i posted. Anyway i put up a fair amount of work in this head ( and i am pretty slow), and made a lot of muscle poses for the face. I made what i think is a common mistake by not so experienced users, the range of my poses don't go extreme enough. I have to go back in the poses and exagerate way way more. I would like comments and crits before digging in again. Also i would like tricks or advices on making poses with scaling included. I mean by that having the whole jaw area scaled up with an extreme smile, or a very exagerated drop jaw, or one orbit and eye area scaled up when questionning.…

It's not often I get the time to sit down and actually use A:M - certainly nowhere near as often as I would like. However, recently I managed to cobble together this piece of silliness: http://www.stuart.rogers.clara.co.uk/Mattress_sor3H_320.mov [ QuickTime6 - 5.4MB. I'm sure I ticked the 'internet fast start' box when I built this file, but it doesn't seem to be doing this, so you'll have to wait until it loads. Ho hum.] Strictly speaking it should be in the WIP section, as there's plenty more that needs to be done on it, but enough is enough - I've spent enough time on it and now want to get on with something else.
