What is Parallel Reload? I didn't know when I made this opening title and I don't know today but it is something important you need to know if you have the giant enterprise switch by Northern Telecom AKA the Meridian 1. I did this while working at Nortel in 1997 or '98. This was my first attempt at rigorously accurate mechanical modeling. I found the original project elements while looking through my debris and have re-rendered it in HD for modern eyes. For the most part, the original PRJ done in v6 loaded right up in v18. I just had to revisit a few of the animation curves and refind a few image files. The many long, thin horizontal lines …

Hey Hasher's- Just sharing some of my recent work done using this remarkable program. My Belle Tire client was going to use a photo(attached) of the new store in Jackson, MI... but the photo just didn't have much 'oomph'. SO- she asked if I could recreate it in 3D, and while at it...add the 'Tireman' character and titles. These are the 'bookends' (animation at the head and tail of the TV commercial.) I had chance this last week to do a scoreboard 'halftime' animation for my client Belle Tire... one of those things 'for the kids' where the stadium DJ will assign a random seating section to the outcome... and if chosen that section will get a prize... like a pack of M&M's or a free soda. This one was for the Grand Rapids Griffins, a Michigan Junior SemiPro hockey team- and they wanted a 'shell game' with 3 outcomes starring Tireman in an ice-hockey environment... Belle Tire's cartoon mascot that originated in 1922 and whom I have been animating in A:M for the past few years. I started animating the pucks sliding around and quickly realized I was in 'keyframe h…

This month's prompt from Society of Visual Storytelling is "The reindeer got the flu so Santa used ???...." (fill in the blank) Here's my "probably" entry (I am resisting adding more detail, stuff since I tend to over complicate my compositions..but ya never know) If you see something that looks familiar in this image - it's probably yours. Yes. All artists steal. But good artists steal a lot! (or something like that?) Thanks to Matt Campbell I frankensteined his wonderful car (peaked it and textured it with wood, got rid of roof/cab), modified (rigged) one of his Xmas ribbons, made an image hose of his snowflakes (I used in Painter) Thanks to "Tin Wo…

http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showt...mp;hl=Composite While looking for more info on compositing I came across this thread from 2006 about a plug in that Marcel Bricman had written for T Wessling. There was some talk that he may have introduced it to the wider AM community later on and I wondered if there was any news on that now ? regards simon Apologies. Just found another thread about Sumi and couldn't stop this one. My Mistake.

I kind of missed the deadline here, but I didn't get back to my computer before the end of the Christmas holiday visiting my parents. So this ugly thing has been decorating my grandma's Christmas tree for the past 25 years. I drew this thing when I was five years old. I bet that if it could talk it would probably whisper something in the lines of "please kill me...." Anyway, just for the fun of it I had it scanned, made a simple model for it in A:M and added the decal. Also added a simple rig and made it move for a few seconds. It would be fun to collect all sorts of children's Christmas drawing and make an small animation out of it, guess I have to search my parents …

Thought I would start a new topic (instead of spreading it around), to post my homeworks that I've been doing for iversity.org's Design 101 course, using A:M. These assignments are not supposed to take more than 1 hour. hoo hah. So I've been trying (rarely succeed in keeping to 1 hour)...and I've been using models that I already have, modified, recomposed Most people are using photos, hand drawing, other media - quite inspiring. I haven't used A:M for all my assignments - but thought I would share here. Some of these were posted already in other threads...so bear with me.

Robcat spotted this movie on my YouTube channel and suggested I post it to the Forum. The movie is composited from two clips made in A:M. First clip (the color pattern): Years ago I made light boxes using Xmas lights on posts that supported cylinders with cutout patterns; the tops of the cylinders were vaned so heat rising from the lights drove the rotation of the cylinders. The light patterns were projected onto a sheet of translucent plastic. Recently I got to thinking about light boxes and wondered if I could simulate the mechanism in A:M. After some trial and error — that being trying to find a method for doing the cutouts without actually modeling each …

I've signed up for a monthly subscription for the Society of Visual Storytelling - excellent instructors, with the most amazing excellent, creative students, & interesting courses! (I am such a noob). Every month (third Thursday) they have a contest. This month (October), the prompt was "None of the animals could believe their eyes. The aircraft worked! For the first time, Ostrich was actually flying." I entered at the last moment (first time), and my entry was not finished. So I've continued to work on it .Still not done, as I don't feel like the illustration tells a good enough story. But I'm tired of it, so I probably won't go any further. Here is what I …

Hello all! For those of you who may remember me, and remember my annual Thanksgiving videos, I did not stop doing them, and did not stop using Animation Master to make them! This one was done in a short amount of time (like usual because of procastination, but mainly because of my new school, new job, and life just becoming more busy). But I did not want anyone to think I forgot about you all. This community is the reason I still have the passion to animate and am pursuing it to this day by attending school to get a degree. You have to have that piece of paper to show you can do it, portfolios are only half the game. But there is so much for me to learn still a…

Hey Everyone. Ran across this story development video that includes Storyboard, Layout, Script, & final composite. Done in 2010. Detwiler_Story_Sample_800x450.mov All characters and props were done in A:M. Backgrounds(sky, desert, etc.) were done in Vue. The lighting of Animation Master and Vue were done seperately but matched together. Banditos were modeled/ textured by Will Sutton(awesome character work). I modeled Appalachian Al, but his texturing was done by John Henderson. Rigs were done by me, Will Sutton, and Robert Holmen. Storyboards, lighting, compositing was a rather difficult process. Even the shadows and AO were in sepera…

Has the Setup Machine 2 been dropped from compatible plugins? I copied the TSM2 files to the HXT folder in A:M16 but they are not available from the plugins menu now. I haven't seen an official statement regarding TSM and A:M16 so I'm not sure if this is an issue for A:M Reports or if this is normal behaviour for A:M16. Any clues?

All of my choreographies are all of a sudden not rendering properly, especially in reflections. I don't know what went wrong, but if I can't fix it, that will be it for me an A:M. I'm hoping I accidentilly hit a setting or something that is now screwing it up. I would like to restore the default settings, but don't know how. I've already made sure all my reflection settings were good. I also uninstalled and reinstalled. Please, any help is appreciated and needed. I've been playing around with something called Titanium Developer, which allows you to write an application using web developer skillz ( HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, Ruby and Python ) and then package it as a desktop application. So I wrote a very simple program to convert a Choreography file to an Action file. When I installed it on WindowsXP, the installer threw an error half way through the installation process, but it installed OK and worked just fine. I can't test it in Win7 or Mac, so you're on your own there... Windows and Mac (OSX 10.5 Intel based) versions are available here: http://api.appcelerator.net/p/pages/app_page?token=R4qf9KX0 ---------------…

here´s some stuff i´ve made lately with the help of a:m. 1. DDQ Series video: those are touring class PA speakers which i´ve designed two years ago. i did the layouts for those speakers with a:m (they looked a little different in the development stage, some things were too difficult to realilze in production). so the design for the speakers was made in a:m, the speakers you see in the video are real video-shots though. the only 3D footage besides the lines-stuff was the compression driver, i had to model it in a:m, because the prototype we filmed didn´t have the right driver built in the animation was made in after effects, the lines with a plug-in called plexus. …

I'm making a model for a student ( although I'd rather be animating ). Its of a lunchbox and she wants a foil top to it that will peel back, like the top on a yogurt carton. The top surface is for her graphic but she wants it to be like a shiny foil on the underside. I don't have a lot of experience with materials or surface settings, can anyone suggest a way to get the aluminium foil type effect ? regards simon

As threatened. The second ever project in AM. This was the original version. It later got re animated and edited down to three days rather than five but, that version has some horrible compression artefacts on it and still has a large file size. This has been chopped a bit but ( WARNING ), the music is still as annoying as ever. There are many things I'd change if I did it now but I was pleased with it at the time. ( about 9-10 years ago). I still like the idea though. The figure models were adapted off the CD at that time. Rather inexpertly, as you can tell. simonLC_320.mov

This was the first project I did in AM. My nephew was trying to make a career as a racing driver and this was an attempt at raising some sponsorship. It was only intended as a fist pass at the idea and, if the company was interested, then we'd get the polished version done. It never got finished because, they were interested at first but, just as we started to look into it more, two of their marketing dept died with stress related problems so we got lost in the process. The nephew, Ben Clucas, then 17/18 now 29, is still working as a racing driver, albeit not on the plane initially hoped for. There are lots of clips of him on Youtube, including an amazing race a…

Okay, here's a silly quesiton... Let's say I have an animated sequence with keyframes in various locations spread throughout the sequence. In other words... it's a real mess. Is there a way to force a keyframe for every bone that has a keyframe assigned to it on every frame of the animation? My thought is that while I want to reduce the number of keyframes I don't want to risk altering the current animation to any great extent. Keying every frame would allow going back in and deleting keyframes while knowing that other keys are still in place. This is an approach I've found to work really well with simulation (such as Simcloth which places a keyfram…

I was just wondering if Hash had any plans to update their import / export plugins and perhaps add some. I would be interested in an FBX export/import plugin as it's one of the standards and something I require (As I'm sure I'm not the only one). If not soon or not ever, I was also wondering if there was anyone else in the community that works with DX Studio and or Unity 3D and knows of a nice transition to use Animation Master in their game development pipeline. DX Studio uses .X files however I'm not to sure if the export is 100% compatible as I've not had much luck with it. This could be due to me not knowing what options I should be selecting as output…
