Hello, We have been busy and I didn't want to post too many WIPs, but I have a few more for you. These clips are just tests to see how the models hold up for animation/rendering. Of course we are rendering everything in HD720, but a few things have to be rendered smaller for testing- (especially those containing multiple volumetric lights). Comments are welcome. Keep in mind that the purpose of these clips are to show the models in lighting. There is one lipsync in there that is incomplete, because I didn't really want to go into simulating the cloth(It's all about the face/the arms are STIFF). Thankyou! Click on the pic! This is not the contest thread but don't miss it. Go over to The Contest Thread and Vote! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This is just my almost ran image thread. Well, the pressure is off. I missed the deadline for the contest but as I had a couple of festive images on the boil I am going to post them here anyway. This image was a mock up of what I was going for with my first image. It is all A:M, (11.1 and 12), but is a composite on three layers. When I finish working on the second image I will get back to this one, finishing the sleigh, better poses for the figures, get the hair flowing and add a prope…

This weeks four-hour animation topic was "Swim." Any old swim. I was still frazzled from ZachBG's animation fire drill last weekend, so I made this as relaxing as possible. See it on my Showdown Page.

Another quick test with hair ....streaks on the left ...blobbies on the right and gravity changing its mind. Also I peaked all the vertices and got a fanfoldish result Just want to mention that even with all this happening render was much faster than before..although I did simulated the cloth with all the emiters turned off first yeahII.mov

I run a lip-sync music video class at my kids elementary school. I wanted to have an opener, or whatever you call them, like Disney's castle or Dream Works boy in the clouds. What is that short studio ID bit called anyway? The school is called Charles Dickens and our team mascot is the Dicken's Dragon, so I made our video logo with a fire breathing dragon. The compression makes it look a bit rough. You can see it here, 1.4 meg, streams well over highspeed: http://www3.telus.net/imagestreamstudio/te...n_logo_full.mov I'd like to tweak it and change it a bit for each video, so any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Just a 'work in progress' view of the opening scene of an animation I hope I will one day finish and posting updates here may help with the motivation in achieving that goal. Nothing in the picture is finished, much still needs decals, textures, etc and more models need to be created. There will be an old 1930's style truck, more rocks, some grass and the gumtree will have more branches. The main character is currently under construction and when finished I'll upload a pic. The story is of a lonely preteen boy who dreams of rockets and having a friend his age and who lives on an isolated farm in 'outback' Australia with his Red Army veteran Grandpa.

Old Demo Reel -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey guys, so in the process of updating my site and cleaning house in a computer sense of things, I came upon my old demo reel. Old in that I made it back in 2002 when I was interested in working in an animation studio. I probably should have just sent the thing into outerspace, as the results would have been the same. Now that I look back at it, it is no surpise as the reel isn't specifically geared towards one skill set. If I were to remake one today, I'd make it just about character rigging, with a slight emphasis on modelling.....But I thought that the…

http://www.happybigfun.com/Robotsrobotsrobots.html It is my intention to make a monthly five minute animated podcast (web series) featuring sentient robots at war. It will be called "Robots Robots Robots!" Right now, none of them can change forms, but at some point I'm going to try to make a robot that can transform. I won't use that term in the series cause I don't want to get sued. The plan, inspired by beast wars, is to make 8 robots, a few sets, and then continue to re-use those same models throughout the series. This will take some time to start up, but my hope is that it will only take a month to make each episode once all the models are made and I'm only …

Recently i have gotten the oppurtunity to do some more work for NASA ( no pay but it will look good on my resume). At the NASA Glenn research center several groups are working on designs for the modules to go back to the moon, one of the groups needs some modeling and animation done, and asked if i was up for it. Of course i accepted. Below is what i have done so far. I am going to have to make a few bump maps and diffuse maps for the lander, but it is pretty much done. Comments welcome, Ben. PS the legs are fully articulate, so are the radiator panels (the random black panels).

I was making a small model for a bigger project that I am working on. I did a testrender just to see how the model did turn out. Its a very simple model(s) and a standard AO render, but I thought the result turned out nice, so I want to share it with you guys. I might if I find the time make several more bottles and fill the environment with them, but for now, I'll settle with this render Let me know what you think

Hi, I have been using A:M since about August, thereabouts and this is easily the most fun I have ever had with a computer! I have to say though, I am overwhelmed with all the different things that a single person can do with A:M and all the thousand little things that need to go in to even a simple animation (i.e., lighting, models, perspective, sets, backgrounds, music, sound effects, etc...) Having said all of that, and after these last few months of trying one thing, only to give up on it and move on to something else new in A:M and then back again... I have FINALLY mangaged to keep myself focused on one project and have put together something longer th…

here's the "hero" for a movie i'm working on called "The Movie to End All Movies" I had some trouble naming the guy, so i just chose my favorite character from Street Fighter (Vega) and added an 'is' at the end, feel free to comment any way you like. I'm still in the process of tweaking it a bit.

I decided to do a little test to see how the rig works. As you can see there are a few problems. Though I'm sure it's do to my bad modelling. -The arms really need work -The shoes go through the pants - The pants go through the shirt The shoes twist at akward angles The knees twist argh back to the drawing board As you can also see. I didn't try for realistic movement. I was trying to show where it messed up. Now he looks like he belongs in the matrix rig_test.mov

As per Vern's request, this was one of the May Mechanical Contest entries. (I actually entered two, this Rebel and the Lamborghinni Gallardo). And as with Eric's entry, this is still a WIP. I had been doing a WIP thread on this already, showing the progress of the model. The Gallardo was the model I created mainly for this contest. Never even thought about entering the Rebel until someone in the WIP thread asked if I was going to enter it. I hastily tried to complete the model, but didn't succeed very well. There are a lot of things on the Rebel that I am not really happy with, and will be redoing them properly. Anyway, here are some larger, higher resolut…

Posted this topic in the Showcase last month but never really got any replies... Does anyone have any tips on the kind of Cloth simulation I need to do for large cape animation. Go to my Batman page I have Tests on Cape Animation there & so far that's the best I can get. Alienfilms.net/Batman/ The Cape has a low patch count. Should the patch count be higher, or would that help at all? It ether looks to heavy, to light or to stiff... I'm using A:M 8.5 but plan on getting 10.5 pretty soon. If anyone has any tips I'm all ears. Thanks! Edit: Added Link

I have modeled every rivit on this upper structure with a small sphere. As the number of spheres increased, my copy/paste function slowed considerably. To get back some speed, I cut each sphere in half, which helped quite a bit by cuttin down on spline count. I received a suggestion that I might be able to achieve rivits with displacement maps? Take a look at my project and tell me if and how I could do this? It is important to be able to actually see raised rivits on the upper structure since close-up will be taken of it when finished. Thanks

Here's a quick preview of a 12-mat shoji-screened room I was playing around with over the holidays. This will be a part of a larger temple building and I built this sample room to test render times and material effects. The material effects are in no way complete, but I liked the look of this quick pic when I was checking the transluciency settings on the shoji screens. [attachmentid=12858]

This is sorta a sneek look at what my movie will be like. Now I hope for my first chapter to be complete by august and my second by September, if not sooner. Chapter 1: I Am the Lard Knight (Pts. 1 and 2) Wario Wario works at "Mushnick's florist" , which never gets customers. While the place is burglarized by Rupert Thorne and his men, Batman is killed trying to save the shop and Wario disguises himself as b…
