The guys at animation mentor.com asked me to produce their mascot as a sculpture. They had the model originally produced in MAYA, but I used animation master for the prep work to get it ready for the mill to cut it out. You will find spike in the models section. Along with spike I posted a sculpture of the corpse head that I used for reference.

I'm trying to put together a portfolio and I want to thank you guys for all your help and crits. I think I'm almost there. This is really an extended topic from the KeeKat's Secret where I asked the question on lipsyching methods. This is a run through using the "manual" method; which at this point I think gets the best results. cow_boy_sam.mov So far so good I got a couple more nit picks to flesh out on this one before I go on to the long monologue. as usual any C&C is welcome

Alright in the past 2 days i have modeled this. i think i spent more time then i should have. but it doesnt matter cause i like how it turned out. but i think it could be better if i just knew how to make better lighting. i dont know though. so if you have any tips about lighting. how i should light it up. or any things you think should be changed its all being taken. i wanna know what yall think.. my intentions are to enter it in the heros image contest when the time comes. i expected it to take longer then it did.

Here is a minute and a half short I made a few years back. I recently re-rendered it at a better resolution and added some original music that i put together in GPO. The animation is pretty simple, but that's what I was going for! Phil's Gun Animation - Quicktime - Mp4 codec

This is something I'm doing for work. Its going to be used as a backdrop for one of the scenes. It has since been decaled. But it still needs lights. After I get to the lights I'll post it again.

Please have a look at this carscene. I have some questions: I have a sunlight directed from the left and a klieglight from the right enligthening the sign and cast shadows on, but the shadows are not like I would expect them. Under the car it looks as if only the axles and tyres cast shadow but not the body of the car, also there is no shadow under the bridge and the sign is casting no shadow as well ( I would expect like see my painting.) Second, is there a way to avoid decals showing from the backside. Any help? Thank you Jake

I was going to post this in the AM section but it wouldn't let me add an image. I clicked on the little arrow at the top right hand corner of my PWS and selected New Filter, does anyone know what this does?

Dominique now has clothes. All that's left is to give her some guns! The overcoat does not have very many details yet. It's a question of splines vs bumpmap and graphic. The model is 75% boned, and thanks to the all your help, the overcoat will be boned very soon with Dynamic Constraints. My experiments with the test model were mostly successful. I should have a small clip up by next week. Hopefully she'll be able to shoot the guns in a dramatic fashion. Gaetan

Just found a great flight-sim game called "OVER FLANDERS FIELDS". So I've been hanging out on their Forum, flying and soaking my head in WWI lore. With A:M at my fingertips, I had to try a few planes. Here's the Fokker D.VIII. Some accounts claim this successor to the justly famed Fokker D.VII was unresponsive to the controls and under-powered due to the Oberusel rotary engine. [Fokker Triplanes shared that engine and problem] Other accounts say that if the war had lasted longer, the D.VIII would have emerged as the deadliest fighter of either side. It suffered from construction problems at first. Fokker's normally high standards had eroded, [he also contracted out a lot …

Much of my focus these days is with hand drawn animation but it all tends to blend and further complement the study of animation. For instance, some folks spend a great deal of time sculpting physical models (maquettes) as an aide to visualizing their characters and objects in order to make drawing them (from any angle) easier. Even animators who draw their characters should have a 3D computer animation program. Of course I recommend Animation:Master because... with splines... modeling is an extension of drawing. This was primarily an exercise in trying to model this character quickly. It would have been wise for me to sketch out a few drawings to rotos…

so I remembered I had one of those classic charlie ventriliquist doll thingies in my basement and I decided to try to model it...I'm very proud in the fact I'm still motivated to keep going..usually by now I'd be disappointed in myself cause of ugly creasing, but the only way to get better is to finish a model completely then try to do another one..completely..anyways... Note: in the render w/ out wires, there is ugly and annoying creasing/bumps in the nose and all around pretty much...anybody know why? I have a feeling it's an amateur thing because I notice a lot of other beginners like me have the same ugly, yet tolerable "mesh texture"...anyways..without furthe…

Hi! i am posting a test with a character i had abandonned awhile ago. I decided to rework the head after buying the excellent face bundle from Anzovin (building, rigging and animating a face cd's). It is the same text in french that i posted a few months ago. You can still judge of the lipsync and attitude of the character even if you don't understand the words, i think (Justin Barrett made a very good tutorial in italian). Thank you for viewing! http://www.cam.org/~mgigue/lipsync%20test.mov

A couple of experiments with animated noise. This is A:M Perlin noise, animated by moving the noise material (set to be a displacement material) vertically through a plane. FF_Test007_000.mov This is noise made in After Effects and rendered out as an image sequence to apply as a displacement decal on a plane. I'm not sure what causes the white flecks. Here is a newer render of a model I've been working on. It's still not quite finished. I still need to add a couple of beams to support the wooden dummy as well as the anchors of the posts and bolts for the frame. Damn real life! It keeps getting in the way of me actually accomplishing anything. Anyhow, I need some suggestions on what I need to do to improve on it. I'm going for a realistic look, but not photo-real, if you get my meaning. Anyhow, here's the link. http://homepage.mac.com/cluelessmorgan/.Pictures/Test.jpg Also, which one looks better: The pine frame (1) or the red wood frame (2)?

This is my first fully rigged character in AM. His name is Murphy and he presently has 25 facial morph targets with 3 more to add. This was an exercise to see what AM could do as I usually use Blender,Maya, and Max. I'm going to do some animation shots at the end of this week.

This is my christmascard for 2010 entirely made in AM. Everything has been modeled by myself except the drumset.( T.Y. drumset maker ) It has been made in honour for an old friend. A 76 old jazz mucisien with amazing great musical capacities who lives in andalusie spain.I met him again after 27 years. He has become older but his music impressed me in and have noticed -I thought it was not possible- has become better. A merry christmas and a happy new year to all of you. Greetings , Marc

Here's my next character(s) for the next Mini Movie I'm going to do. He will have a mouth, and I hope to do some dialog this time. (We'll see if I can grasp David's mouth rigging method!) It started as a critter I kept sketching over and over at work on my notepad. He isn't as smooth as I'd like, and I always have that problem. Anyway, I had thought of putting really short hair on him. I tried making hair but it never showed up. I love how some of Nancy's stuff has come out. If anyone knows of a good hair tut, let me know. I just threw this guy together today based loosly on some drawings that a friend of mine did. I'm sure he'll go through a couple of revisions. I know I need to give him some arms and a way to get around. Plus I need to seriously texture him, but it's a start.

http://www.happybigfun.com/Robotsrobotsrobots.html It is my intention to make a monthly five minute animated podcast (web series) featuring sentient robots at war. It will be called "Robots Robots Robots!" Right now, none of them can change forms, but at some point I'm going to try to make a robot that can transform. I won't use that term in the series cause I don't want to get sued. The plan, inspired by beast wars, is to make 8 robots, a few sets, and then continue to re-use those same models throughout the series. This will take some time to start up, but my hope is that it will only take a month to make each episode once all the models are made and I'm only …

Well, you read it right..I'm trying to model a face...I'm using the "Mr.Incredible" references because I want to start w/ a simple nose...and I don't want to have to make references myself for a face (too lazy) I still have to shift some CP's to get rid of some creases that are easy to wash away....:
