This is my christmascard for 2010 entirely made in AM. Everything has been modeled by myself except the drumset.( T.Y. drumset maker ) It has been made in honour for an old friend. A 76 old jazz mucisien with amazing great musical capacities who lives in andalusie spain.I met him again after 27 years. He has become older but his music impressed me in and have noticed -I thought it was not possible- has become better. A merry christmas and a happy new year to all of you. Greetings , Marc

I'm trying to put together a portfolio and I want to thank you guys for all your help and crits. I think I'm almost there. This is really an extended topic from the KeeKat's Secret where I asked the question on lipsyching methods. This is a run through using the "manual" method; which at this point I think gets the best results. cow_boy_sam.mov So far so good I got a couple more nit picks to flesh out on this one before I go on to the long monologue. as usual any C&C is welcome

Hey Guys, Simon here... I haven't posted anything in a long time as I have been way too busy with my latest creation, 'Against The Author, The War of the Worlds'. I'm just posting to say that production of this A:M motion picture is going great and it will be expected to be released about Winter 2005, or at the very latest, Summer 2006. For anyone out there who has never really heard of Against The Author Before, here is a description: And, for anyone out there who doesn't want tor read all the post, here is a quick trailer we made for the movie a long time ago, it is probably out of date, but it gives you guys a chance to see it in action, so…

This is a Shaded-Wireframe, very rough cut of the "Moving Foxhole" movie. Cannot figure out why the truck wheels start and stop. The action doesn't seem to be moving so fast that the screen refresh can't keep up. Or is it? Untitled.mpg

One of the new users wondered if I try to do a walk cycle on this guy so I thought I would give her a go. This is very rough and in shaded mode. I am concentrating on the legs and feet right now. I haven't done any weight or secondary motion except on the feet. lots of work to do on it as time permits. I was watching the scene in jurassic park where the trex is chasing the guy with the flare. I haven't watch that movie for a long time and still is state of the art. I am looking forward to some feedback. Ken Helsip is kind enough to let anyone who wants the trex, to download it as soon as he checks the file out. It rigged with tsm2 and …

I've done alot of mechanical modelling & animation, however this is my first real character. He's a power plant worker to be used in a tour video. The body, hands, and hair are from various characters on the "Extras CD", although each have been modified slightly.

I've added some new renders to my A:M Stills gallery of astronomical art that I first announced in this thread nearly a year ago. Having found some improved textures, I've finally been able to finish modeling the Earth's moon and the seven major moons of Saturn. The Saturn moon maps come from Steve Albers' planetary map site. Titan was rendered with PlanetGlow, but it doesn't look exactly right. You shouldn't be able to see the horizon at all, but I can't think of any other solution that would work, except for vibrating the model really fast in multipass, but I'd rather not do that. I used a displacement map (16 bpc EXR file) to create the equatorial ri…

The guys at animation mentor.com asked me to produce their mascot as a sculpture. They had the model originally produced in MAYA, but I used animation master for the prep work to get it ready for the mill to cut it out. You will find spike in the models section. Along with spike I posted a sculpture of the corpse head that I used for reference.

Hey guys, even though I'm posting this in the WIP section, this is a finished deal, as I've taken this as far as I want to take it practice wise. From the comments - worked on the run cycle and redid the grab for one hand instead of 2... There are a few issue still, much coming from the fact that the run cycle on the path ended with the wrong foot for the jump to the pole... Anyhows, this was good practice for me. I rendered one with no blur and one with A-buffer blur. http://www.vrcops.com/vids/Run2PoleQA.mov http://www.vrcops.com/vids/Run2PoleBlurA.mov Later Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

Well, i've worked on this in my spare time between school and other things. I'm pretty new at A:M and this is actually the first model that i actually have rigged. I still have to rig the antenna and fix the riging of the legs. And also increase the amount of patches in the head, because it renders really wierd as you will see in the photo. Comments and Critiques are definately welcome! Thanks

Dominique now has clothes. All that's left is to give her some guns! The overcoat does not have very many details yet. It's a question of splines vs bumpmap and graphic. The model is 75% boned, and thanks to the all your help, the overcoat will be boned very soon with Dynamic Constraints. My experiments with the test model were mostly successful. I should have a small clip up by next week. Hopefully she'll be able to shoot the guns in a dramatic fashion. Gaetan

I spent wednesday playing around on what you can do with hair, and just barelly getting into it. Selecting the mesh for hair emitter of my model (Erica) from my old V8.5 project. The new hair adds so much life into my model. Its almost like a barbie doll as someone pointed it out. The Hair emitter came with direct manipulation tool, and a comb, and lenghtener tool. I choose 3 point sectional hair, and in hindsight I would of maybe go for 5 for better shaping. I wanted to basically know how the toon render would be with the hair. For the life of me I had a couple of render that render the hair out to toon, and not really knowing what I did to make that render not render…

Hello all- Tried rendering some volumetric lighting and came across a weird anomaly in the rendering. An thin arc of black dots seems to be appearing in the rendered frames. Check out the image. Does anyone have an idea what might be causing this? Thanks! Tom

Hi! i am posting a test with a character i had abandonned awhile ago. I decided to rework the head after buying the excellent face bundle from Anzovin (building, rigging and animating a face cd's). It is the same text in french that i posted a few months ago. You can still judge of the lipsync and attitude of the character even if you don't understand the words, i think (Justin Barrett made a very good tutorial in italian). Thank you for viewing! http://www.cam.org/~mgigue/lipsync%20test.mov

Hi, Back in July I posted the ‘first take’ of the battleship model and got some good feedback. I had already turned my attention to improving character eye movement (see videos 1 and 2), then designed a uniform (for the battleship) (images 1 and 2) and started rigging it. Then, finally, I got back to the ‘Battleship’. The most common comment was that it needed to be bigger. It’s way bigger… [attachmentid=21114] And way meaner…. [attachmentid=21115] Detailed images here. And it has a kick-ass bridge… [attachmentid=21116] Detailed images here. The ship is broken into 9 models to keep it manageable. These are assembled in a chor …

OK, I have been away for a bit. I got out of doing video and started faceting gemstones in the basement (the computer is in the house - not so sure it is a trade up ). Well, never say never again. The new hobby started meeting the old one. So now I am working on a video about a faceters' meeting (Franklin Faceter's Frolic 3 if you must). Back to old reliable for doing covers and titles, A:M. My new hobby has a tool, GemCad for Windows, for doing design work on stones. And there are large libraries of stones around (including famous diamonds). I noticed that it will export dxf files. Yippy! Well, not too fast. The plug-in import is a little clunky. Bu…

In late-July, I had the honor to speak on presentation design at the Answers in Genesis (AiG) Creation College, which was a conference to train people in creation ministry and to present the Genesis messages like Ken Ham, Carl Kerby, other international speakers from AiG. My talk title was "Making Your Presentations Zing!" I taught graphic design principles, eye candy skills, dos and don'ts of design, and more as relates to presentations—digital and otherwise—for the look of high class and professionalism. I used Apple Keynote as my presentation software for its advanced multimedia technologies and awesome transitions. The globe and all silver 3D elements were modeled in …

Hi all, This is the first real model I have done without a tutorial. It is based on a simple pencil drawing I did. Everything you see was done with A:M's shaders and bump maps. I like the way the model is going, but it doesn't feel quite real, and I am not quite sure where to go with it at this point. I welcome any suggestions, comments critiques or advice. Oh, just to get you started, I know the trigger is terrible. I'm already planning to work on that. Thank you, Mal

Well, not all that epic. It took an hour to render. For some reason, the grass rendered weird unless I rendered it in Multipass mode. There are five dofferent hair emitters (grass, maiden grass, blakeyed susans, clover, and solomon's seal). The images for each emitter were created using Plant Studio 2(which is available for free from http://www.kurtz-fernhout.com/PlantStudio/ ) It will export plants as bitmaps that aren't antialiased, so they're perfect for image based hair. (It will also export in several 3d formats, and I've gotten 3d plants into A:M as props, but their surface attributes aren't editable, and they tend to look like they're glowing.) The…

Hi, I've been rigging a character for about six weeks now and finally got the hard part done. I used NO smartskin or expressions with these bones, only the constraints. I started with a simple idea... create a control rig for the mesh, what I'm saying is create a rig that reacts to the primary rig (i.e. the bicep/forearm control the bones that deform the elbow.). The first problem was to build a rig that could be placed around the primary bones- just like it was a mesh, contouring the mesh. I had to do a test using a tube to figure out the position and constraints that would make the bones move in reaction to the main bones. Then turning on the bone falloff and t…
