Hello all: This is another prop for my still. As you can see I've went astray some where on the gradient combiner and the glass material. This is my first stab at both, so please any help you could give would be greatly appreciated. I thought it was an interesting bottle and would like to do it justice.

After reading the call for entries for models for TSM2, I decided to try modeling a GIANT OCTOPUS for the evil squid category. So I spent a couple of hours surfing the web for reference and sketching.

So...I'm doing this basics..posing. Over the course of the next week or so I'll simply be posing scenarios with a simple generic character and I need your input on them..The first one is "victory" I can already see that I need more spine curve exaggeration and the raised arm needs to be extremed some more..what else?

I never paid much attention to it, but now that I have a night scene, I wonder if I have to make adjustments so everyone can see all the intended details? It looks great on my monitor, will it look the same on everyone elses'?

Hi friends Here is my current work in progress. Its the Eldar War Walker from Warhammer 40K. I just love the design of the walker since it got both mechanical and organic feel over it. I bought a model of it which I have sent to a good friend of mine who is a warhammer figure painter. At the moment I only got photos of the unbuilt model itself as reference while modeling. I was not able to find any blueprints of the walker. Also, due to limited spare time, the progress is going a little slow. Anyway, here is what I got so far. Let me know what you think

Just to play around a little, I have decided to model a Mark II Viper from the remade BSG. My modeling skills suck (as can be seen here) but it's somewhat fun to model and there's no BSG models kicking around from what I can tell, so here's what I got so far:

Here's a character (Captain Crazy Pants) I was working on before I took a trip to the ER for emergency abdominal surgery (was july 11, and I am almost back to "normal"). Since you're all waiting for the Mascot contest voting to begin, I thought this might be the time to post before the excitement begins...I had intended to do more with him and add some auxillary friends - but my energy level hadn't been up to snuff and I found it difficult to sit at computer for any length of time. Ok...ok...enuff with the excuses and sympathy gathering... I will probably return to this set of characters at some point as I want to have some new friends to integrate with photos …

Hi This is a preview render of something i'm working on. This was modelled and rendered in AM 10.5R I wanted to put the footage on top of a terragen generated animated background but there is no way of tranferring cemara data anymore. So it's on hold for now. Any ideas on how to do this would be much appreciated. Animation preview render Also here's a still I've created using a photographic background, I want this level of realism in animation as well. Any feedback and tip (especially regarding combining terragen footage) are welcome Cheers, Geoff

Hello friends For the last couple of weeks I have been working on recreating my office into A:M. This still a WIP since there are MANY small models yet to create. This is my office (or the entrance of the basement flat that it actually is ) where I spend a lot of time fiddling with A:M I feel like I have achieved the atmosphere pretty well (the room is lit by two spotlights, and the it's actually as dark as that) Its rendered in radiosity (~11hr). I have made but not yet rendered a mx1000 mouse and a mousepad and done some adjustments to the grey keyboard (and there is lot more to add... alot) I appreciate comments or criticism

Emerald Pictures and Sapphire Animation, both independent production companies made up of completely volunteer workers, are working together to develop and produce "Myrl," a fantasy/adventure epic. We're currently in the development process of everything (and have been for the past year trying to get the story just right) and will begin pre-production in June and hopefully begin animation in the later fall (end-September). The reason I am posting this is because we're currently looking for volunteers for the following: Note: The numbers in the () symbols are how many we need of that type of artist. Below is the one we are using now. How I think this will work is you can submit your items. Hash, Inc will use either all or part of your design. If Hash, Inc. uses all or part of your design Hash, Inc. will send you a sigraph Hash, Inc. jacket that we have. Sizes are limited. This is the next lesson Robcat is teaching. Here is my first rough draft. This is just a first blocking pass. Refing to come. Feedback welcome. For learning purposes this was animated on 3's and is only 18 frames in length. The arms are hidden so I can concentrate on body and weight mechanics. jump.mov

Woo! After ten weeks of toil, my latest animation test is finally ready for public consumption. Yeah, I know. Ten weeks. For 14 seconds of animation. It's kind of embarrassing. The first two versions only took two weeks apiece, so I was hoping this third version wasn't going to take much longer than that. Except first I had to learn about modeling 3d environments. And about lighting. And volumetrics. And walk cycles. And light lists. And the graph editor. And dynamic constraints. And CP weighting. And how to manage a timeline that looks like this: But I saw it through to completion. Hallelujah. And now you can see it too. http:…

UPDATE: See the final version on page 2 of this thread Decided to re-render "Window" with real radiosity instead of the old version's manually-placed lighting. One light, sixteen passes, six hours: The only light leak I wasn't able to address was that bit under the lip of the table . . . I chalk it up to it being geometry that was modeled six years ago. Otherwise, I'm impressed. Working GI in A:M. Ain't that some chit? Thanks to Yves P. for his radiosity primer.

I know ya'll like these so I'll post this as bad as it is. There are a bunch of things to fix on it. - the spin of the green car - how the truck sits wonky on the side of the road - green car noses too far The spin and directions came from the Accident Reconstruction guy, I just need to make them look more believable. I can post this cause you really make out the details from here. David http://www.dustinproductions.com/files/pd-7-7-06.m1v

I'm working on an animation demo reel. It was all animated in A:M, so I thought the WIP forum would be appropriate. What I have now is about 5 min in length. I've heard that 2-3 minutes is optimal for a demo reel, so I would like to trim it down to that. I would be grateful if you will look at what I have and tell me what clips you like and what clips ... not so much. Here is the link to a low resolution version with frame numbers: http://www.holmesbryant.com/files/video/Ho...Demo_draft1.mov (27MB) Thanks

Hi Fellow Hashers I believe this was made with AM because about 5 to 7 years ago I saw a guy demonstrating some AM Technics and he had this or something very close to this on his desktop. Can anyone duplicate this? I honestly don't know where to start. This is such a high dollar look yet I see very little examples of AM user doing stuff like this. AM has had the ability to made impressive caustics like this for years yet it seems like the community as a whole has some sort of roadblock. Would some like to post the settings to create this or a project, or better yet a Video tut that explores caustics further so that as a community we can start using this …

Hey everyone, I need to simulate(If possible).....a weighted but Bouyant object in a tube filled with water. It needs to be able to be flipped kinda like a "Sand Timer" and have the bouyant object rise to surface according to real world physics. Is it possible to use Newton Physics in A:M to simulate Bouyancy like this? Thanks so much, William

Here's a quick still of my holiday animation so far; still working on the layout. It will all be "white" (or grayscale anyway), and the three candles shoot off like roman candles, then snow drifts down over everything. Hopefully it will go quick as I don't have a lot of time this year.

Meet AManda! Jirard had posted a model, and I saw great potential in it and built upon it... and thought it would be a great idea to use as a community building/learning project- see where it goes! I learned a lot by looking at Jirard's wonderful minimal splineage, and my model- if studied, will teach some of my tricks and 'bad habits'... Now, Jirard was going to take it and add teeth and... whatever from there. For now- it is just a female head. I added minimal bones and some poses. Feel free to DL this model or project and add to it... we'll figure-out a way to combine progress as we go. Show us YOUR tricks!

Alright, so I have this orc that I want to make. I haven't really sketched it out- I'm pretty much winging it this time. But that's ok at this point, because I know how I want the teeth to look. So that's what I've modelled so far. Problem: How do I texture them? I've done the basic geometry for the teeth and gums, and I've used naming conventions pretty carefully, so each tooth is it's own group and all that. Does anyone have suggestions for how to go about texturing? Do I need to do each tooth seperately? Ay, this is going to be a painful process if so... And if anyone has suggestions for the modelling at this point, this'd be a good time to tell me. P.S. …

I just posted this at cg talk and figure I would post here too... So after years of staring at the cereal box, I figured I'd try and put together a model of Tony the Tiger. This is a movie clip of his head. Everythig is geometry, except his mouth, which is a texture map for the moment. I want to see if I can model his mouth in there while staying true to the illustrated version... Anyhows, if you get a minute check it out.... for you sticklers on detail... I know I'm missing the nostrils at the moment! I plan on modelling the whole body too, but I want to figure out the mouth before.... http://www.3dartz.com/WIPs/TTA.mov Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

Wookie Dance This just uses the same .bvh mocap ZachBG posted in the resuable motion forum. Since it worked with 2001 skeletons I just had to try it out on the wookie. It's not perfect (the arm passes through his face/body a couple times) but this is about the best I've been able to get hair to render in an animation. Plus a wookie dancing to some MJ is just plain funny. Kevin

Well, I drew these two views of my own little musclecar on a whim and decided to model it just for fun. Holy cow has this been hard. I think I have about 6 hours into it already. Been having lots of trouble figuring out the noseplate behind the headlights, but I think I have if figured. I need to totally redo it from what you see below but the concept is working. Man, some of these realistic 3d models of cars I've seen, I don't know how they do it. It's tricky to get precise measurements too. Here it is so far.

Hi all I've started up yet another ambitious modeling project. For those of you who remember the "KM Bismarck" project, I can say that this new project is in the same genre. This has been my 'lunch break project' at work this month For those of you who is not familiar with FS Clemenceau (R 98), aka Le Clem, its a French aircraft carrier of the French Navy, serving from 1961 to 1997. Don't ask me why I chose this one, I have no clear answer, other than it is a beauty At this point I've mainly carved out the hull and just started to add details. I got a long way to go before it is finished. I'll probably start making the superstructure within the next few weeks.…

A few years ago I setup a car suspension rig using surface constraints. The tires were driven by expressions with a use of a bones translation (had some issues, but fixed now). As the model moves along a path, the tires will rotate according to speed and direction. The setup consists of a blank driver pose. The bone that spins the tires and the path ease are driven by the driver pose, with expressions in the chor. The steering of the tires are also driven by a second path consraint of a target bone. truck3.mov

If you've found something newly broken in V16, now's the time to ask about it here on the forum and confirm it and then report it to AMReports. Not feature requests, but things that actually worked before and suddenly stopped. I say that because Steffen is starting on V17 already and before long it will be impractical to put fixes into both both v16 updates and the v17 betas. So it's "speak now or hold your peace until v17." There shouldn't be much to find since v16 was in beta for more than a year. No, i don't know when the first v17 beta will surface or what new wonders it will contain.

I've needed to put a new roof on this house for years I need to rip off the old roof first and I need to be able to cover the house while I do that. The largest tarp Home Depot sells is not large enough to cover the whole roof at once so I'm using A:M and Simcloth to test out various placements and to see where likely places to tie it down will be. this is a somewhat accurate, full size approximation of my roof and a 60' x 40' tarp:
