Hello I'm working on a still called Dead Man's Hand (pair of 8's, pair of A's and a queen) It's going to be in a small room with a poker table, couple of chairs, playing cards and the character's are going to be the ghost shadow people, Ones going to be hold a full house and the other is going to DMH on the table. Here what I got so far. I'm thinking about having the shadow people having a gun lying beside them but not sure on that one. For the shadow people would you draw a basic shape of a person and then just have completely covered in black smoke something like this For the poker room going to be something small l…

Deer Hashers, I dont get to post or surf very often due to the fact I connect only at work where Im monitored, and limited in time allowed online. I now would like to ask for help, I was working on a Deer model splining and such when I got an error #503? when trying to save my model, it now will not load, any of the three I had saved. attached is a zip containing the 3 versions, if anyone can get this to load up in AM, Im using v14c on a PC, it would be greatly appreciated. Ill try to check back on Friday, maybe thursday night to see if anyone had the time and or luck with it, looks like my mascot wont make the deadline. Thanks for reading, Your fellow Hasher…

This was a weekend project. I wanted to experiment with some composting and chroma screens (harder than I thought! You've gotta get the lighting just right!) and basically just do something fun that I could also use to learn more about the software. So...here it is! My five minute silent film: Death Over France http://www.irish-studios.com/DeathOverFrance.mov Be warned...this is a 39.5 meg download so if you don't have broadband, you probably don't want to try downloading this. Enjoy!

This is a continuation of a topic started here: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18978 Below is an Image of my model to which I applied a bump decal with straight lines which render with jags. The decal is un-edited in the UV editor. No points were dragged or the model flattened. Any ideas on how to fix this? or a better approach to straight lines? Pixmite P.S. Vernon - I think you were right about the optical illusion. I rendered it from another couple of angles and it looked correct. I was late, what can I say.

rendered this character with a shirt and jeans image from Abercrombie and Fitch.... and to think I wasted time modeling buttons and shirt pockets!!! lol Only quickly put this on the front of the model, but with a little photoshop work, online clothing stores could really help with an animation project!!! http://www.3dartz.com/vids/jeans&shirt.mov Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

After applying it it shows fine in the model window and the chor like so but when I render it looks like this.. Nothing I do will get the decal to repeat properly for the entire length of the trunk. Any ideas??

Well, here is the latest incarnation of the continual WIP, I call 'the teaser image for my animation project'. I also have a probelm with a decal that I cannot seem to fix. Thought someone might be able to provide some suggestions. Link to small version of image with enlargement of problem. Link to full size version of image.

Well, I've jumped from making a decent looking decal of a rivet to a full rivet map. The problem was that in order to get the rivet decal to look as crisp as I wanted in the render, I upped the resolution at which I created the decal considerably. The model is 170' long on the horizontal, scaled 1:1 in AM. The decal map is the length of the model and several times it's height. All in all the map is 2.12MB. I tried resizing the map after I finished with all the rivet placement, but when I applied the resized map to the model, the rivets were noticeably degraded (see second pic). I'm no Photoshop wizard, so I may be doing something wrong. Here are the spe…

Since I am still waiting for my AM 2006 disk (my V.11 was damaged) I had some spare time to devote to my T-rex model. I decided to try my hand at creating a head decal image. Here is what I've got so far. Please critique freely.

Here is a screen capture of my decal when I hit recall position on the stamp under the decal heading. I've read posts that when I hit recall, the stamp is supposed to line up where I had stamped it. In this shot, they obviously don't line up, but when I render on the model, the decal is where it's supposed to be. Note: I did not create a pose when I applied the decal, I did everything in the eaction window per William Sutton. Second note: I did increase the image size in photoshop also as per William Sutton, although I don't know if that has any bearing. It also confuses me that when I increased the image size in photoshop and then imported the image into AM, on…

Hi all - Here is a noob decaling question. The attached model has transparency of 40%. I have applied a decal which clearly is darker than the rest of the model(look at the top of the model - here is more transparent than the face which is the decal). I have matched the colors in my paint program to the model's RGB values. I presume because the model is semi-transparent this accounts for the color differences. Am I correct? How do I get around this? Thanks for any thoughts. Doug

I'm trying to decal a movie or image sequence onto a laptop screen and it's just misbehaving like crazy. I'm on v13q. I've done this before and though it took some trial and error I did get it to work. But that was a few years ago. I've tried a QT movie and I couldn't get it off the first frame. I'm trying a sequence of .tga files but I got an error message, though it seems to be behaving otherwise. Any help, or anyone pointing me to a help file or thread would be much appreciated! Gerry

I am still having difficulties with decals. I know there was a thread earlier concerning the corruption when a decal is placed on the model. Can someone direct me to that thread or tell me what to do? The decals when placed on the model appear fine, but when rendered they are stretched or pixelated. Steve

Hey all! Well, this guy isn't completely finished, but man is he close. Modeling, rigging and smart-skinning are all done. I just need make some poses for his hands, a bunch for his face, and... oh yeah, um, texturemap him. I know the showcase is for -finished- stuff, but I really like the color scheme as it is, and decided to try it out. Made something enjoyable, so I brought it into Photoshop and Fireworks and did a bunch of post to it. Thanks for looking! -- Ross

Greetings, This isn't the image quality generally enjoyed on this forum, but since it's my first A:M model to make it from point A to repository, I'm pointing it your way. The video is 22+M, and I'm unable to crank out another version. Hopefully it is a generally viewable codec. I know the deer is on the large size, but remember the camera adds 20 lbs and small objects tend to disappear in the simulator (strictly a visual thing, no alien technology involved). My thanks to the creator of the horse model on the v10 CD - this would have been a longer road without that leg up. deer walking

Here's mine... Render and zipped file. Rename your original 'Default Chor.cho' file to something like 'Default Chor Old.cho'. Then place the Default Chor.cho from my zip file in your Hash Inc\V13.0 folder. I can create this for V12, but I am making this for the new Extra CD and V13 should be a done deal by then. EDIT: 8:30pm 02/16/2006, I updated the zip file... per Ken's suggestions, you can now drop a 7' character in the chor and it will be perfect. defaultchor_timelord.zip

Hey hashers, Like the announcer in the show says "Voltron was needed once more..." so I had to model him. I learned so much about mechanical modelling by tackling this. Now I've got to learn organic modelling and I'll feel like I know what I'm doing. I had to keep it quiet for the last few weeks since he was in the Image Contest. I think it took me about 20 hours or so, working a little bit each night over a week. Each Lion has separate models for their own legs so the lions can easily come apart and stand on their own. Also, I've never rigged anything complicated so I gave it the most basic skeleton -- just so I can move it around, it's so basic it…

Hope the attachement uploads....... please forgive me if it doesn't as this is my first attempt on this forum. [attachmentid=11245] I am using Roger Reynolds surface settings to check the surface for problems. This was modelled in 8.5 and then have started tweaking with the 2004 version of v11. Once again, I am really sorry if I wasted your time and the attachement didn't load. Opinions and feedback would be appreciated.

A quick modeling test for something I've been itching to try: the "demon with squid-like wings", one of the many ghastly creatures in Michelangelo's painting "The Torment of St. Anthony" I tell ya, that guy must have been a saint to put up with all those demons chewing on him.

A test of very dense simcloth, just 1cm patches. It took several hours to simulate but it drapes and flops appropriately and mostly avoids the faceted look that less dense meshes can get. TogaThom006d 1cm clothSIMMED.prj cloth 006d2000_.mp4

Hey guys it's been awhile since I posted, hope everyone had a good new year. I took a break from the dental animations.... and got another dental related project. I think I have been typecast as the 3D dental guy, oh well work is work. ;-) This animation came out pretty good - it was a big project, so I didn't have a lot of time to spend modeling the 2 characters as good as I would have liked - on top of my people modeling and people animation skills are not the best, but with the professional voice-over and music in the background it really takes your attention away from it. Anyway, it's about 3 1/2 minutes long, and the first 35 seconds or so is the voice-ov…

Hi I am still trying to get my mechanical model into a pleasing composition and at the moment I am working on the terrain. I have been playing with different camera angles and depth of field. I particularly wanted to use D.O.F to help give some atmospheric perspective but my results are less than satisfactory. Here is an example with depth of field with just 4 passes:

Hi folks, In order to distract me from my lightingtests, I did this version of the Nibelung Ring, that Alberich forged out of the Rheingold which he had stolen from the Rheintöchter (mermaids). This Ring grants him the greatest powers (worldreign and so on ), but at the same time curses him to live without love forever. The curse is symbolized by the dragon Fafnir devouring himself out of greed. Besides of its incredible magical power, this ring holds some additonal close combat weaponery: a poisonous sting and some extractable razorsharp (mermaids) fins. http://www.jostkeller.de/dreid/testing/Rhe...dRing111011.zip Crits welcome

Hey, it's been a while since I've posted somthing new. Since i saw that wonderful katana render, i was inspired again to make something cool with animation master. I decided to make my favorite gun. The desert Eagle .50 cal (most powerful handgun today [i belive]). Rendered with radiosity, its not quite done at 2600 patches. The bullets are modifed from the one that i made in the bullet thread in the material lab. Ben C&C wanted and welcome.... even if its harsh

Hello friends. I just finished one of my latest models. It is a "design" mobile phone I made just for fun. I had no idea of how it would en up like, but I don't think it ended up that bad. The challenge in this model is that every corner is beveled (perhaps to much in some places). Anyway, let me know what you think. Okay looking or ugly as sin? Regards Stian [attachmentid=10051]

Hey fellows. I have just finished my latest work. Last week I got the idea of an wristwatch in my head an I then tried to capture it with A:M. I wanted to make a wristwatch with an touch of retro yet elegant design. The model contains 11848 patches, but the reason for that is because all the numbers and text is modelled (except for the display) The render took 13hr (9 multipass)

I'm thinking of making stool out of plywood that I can sit on when i practice on my porch. Regular chairs are too short and typically have a rear-ward slant that is uncomfortable. It needs to be something cheap I can leave out there and not worry that it might disappear. I also want it to be adjustable. I'm testing out ideas in A:M with simple shapes. I gave each piece a bone so i can rearrange them in Action 1 to see if I might be able to cut them all from one 2' x 4' piece of plywood. Action 2 is a test of the geometry of a ratchet mechanism for the adjustable seat. RatchetA000.mov Much revision remains to be done, however
