Thought I'd share my latest with the Forum. I'm dreaming-up a 'superhero' premice. 'CrimeBomb' is a masked crimefighter who's lazy ways forces him to take on a 'sidekick' to improve his ratings. Misty wins his heart and gets the job, only to learn that she has to do all the dirty work and CrimeBomb gets all the credit. She is unsure if their ratings are improving because of her crimefighting or her outfit, which CrimeBomb designed and insists she wears... Both are rigged with TSM1, awaiting TSM2...CrimBomb is heavy with fanbones and smartskin and needs a lot of work, MissDemeanor's hair is V11 with 2 separate matierials 1 for short hair and 1 for poneytail- whic…

OK- I'm posting 1 more...then I'll leave you alone for a while until I have something more linear. This is ANOTHER test, and as an afterthought I tagged some sound onto it and it 'sort of' fit. If you can get your QuickTime to loop...loop it and this conversation goes over and over like the ones me and the wife have. I rendered this 10 sec sequence with and without porcelin and was able to frame for frame compare it at D1 resolution. The porceline STAYS. A colleague of mine once said..."sound is half the picture." That was the same guy that said "She's got freckles on her but she's pretty. Hope you enjoy. BigEd.mov

Hey Forum! Thanks for the kind words... I am attaching the 'final' version of the movie from earlier and another one I did quick on the side. Both are actually tests to use action blending, which for the most part works pretty cool, with a minimal of hitches. I think I stumbled upon a 'bug' or 'limitation' whereas when using v11 hair with dynamics'on' that any 'dynamic-constraints' do not appear at render time, like the program is only able to arithmaticly handle one, not both. I say that because I (naturally) put a bone in Miss D's 'chest area' with a dynamic constraint to add a 'jiggle' factor... and in my chor I can see it bouncing away REALLY nice...but when I re…

www.johnaretakis.com HEY- I recently finished a Flash website for a good friend and talented artist, John Aretakis. I am looking to show off my 'Flash-work' and get some feedback from my esteemed fellow Hasher's...who's opinions I respect. John is a mural painter, an art-deco neon electric sign maker, a graphic artist/illustrator, a 2D cel-animator and a 3D hash animator. He's looking to drum-up some work with this site... NEXT---it's high time I redo my own website... it just takes so dang long! I REALLY like the latest version of Flash though, there are some BIGTIME improvements. Anyway, the site is 95% done, so there are some 'dead-ends' here and th…

Just over a year (!) since posting an animatic here, I'm finally close to finished with this short featuring a lonely cricket. I'm hoping to have a final hi-res version ready to submit to Hash for SIGGRAPH, which means it needs to be done Real Soon. Comments and crits of all types would be most appreciated! http://www.digins.com/jack/cricket.mpg (7MB MPEG-1) (fixed link, thanks David!)

Here's my next character(s) for the next Mini Movie I'm going to do. He will have a mouth, and I hope to do some dialog this time. (We'll see if I can grasp David's mouth rigging method!) It started as a critter I kept sketching over and over at work on my notepad. He isn't as smooth as I'd like, and I always have that problem. Anyway, I had thought of putting really short hair on him. I tried making hair but it never showed up. I love how some of Nancy's stuff has come out. If anyone knows of a good hair tut, let me know. So far only a foot. I spent hours today trying to clean up the area where the 3 'toes' join the leg. I learned a lot that I had missed in my attempts at inorganic. The biggest problem I ran into that I finally figured out is how the areas that I joined using splines weren't joining correctly. I tried many different ways to get it to correct but I would have one axis of the CP curving like it was supposed to and the other axis was not. So I tried to delete/break splines and replace them. I have been under the impression that the direction that your attachment spline is going is critical. However, this did not appear to be the case. What I finally had to do was disconnect t…

Hello - just finished up a 12 1/2 minutes long Crown Moulding installation video. It came out pretty good - it was pretty technical because I had to create a tape measure with accurate measurement througout the room, drill screws in, cut the moulding on a saw, apply spacking and sand it off. It was fun, but seemed to go on forever. ;-) Anyway, it's on my site if anyone wants to take a look at it - www.flashanimationwebsitedesign.com - on the lower middle section - "2D and 3D Flash Demonstrations. It's button "06" - 6th sample on the row. - Eric

Hi Guys, Been experimenting with rendering some gem and glass like objects in A:M and decided to try my hand at rendering some quartz crystals. Have a few more things I'd like to add and experiment with in the scene so figure I'll keep adding here as a WIP when I get around to it. ( have to get back to my Snoopy post as well ) A few post tweaks were added in Photoshop like exposure and blurring.

Hello All, A few years back I modeled the confederate submarine the CSS Hunley (C.L. Hunley) for a Hash image contest, I think it was my first model as well....sense that time the Hunley has been raised from the depths and its actual configurations are known, so I have started a new more acurate model of the Hunley...I also plan on detailing the inside at some point. I've attached a couple images of this WIP below.....far from finished inside or out. Mike Cossey

Here's a cupid :wub:I did for a V-day card for my wife. I didn't have time to animate him. He has only a skeleton and no animation rig right now. I pirated most of his mesh from my faun character, and pulled his feet off a critter on the AM cd. Lingthing is Ambient occlusion and one spotlight at about 250% from behind for the rim lighting. Comments or crits welcome, but I probably won't do any more with him now that VDay is past. matt www.animattic.us

Hi, I'm working on a theatre set. The red curtains open. The curtains are animated using cloth simulation in A:M 13. I almost got it nailed, but not entirely. So much parameters, I'm tweaking my ass off. Each time I have to tweak, simulate, tweak, simulate... Is there anybody who knows how to make these curtains move like the real thing? I'll post my curtain-project. It has the animated curtain. Just run the cloth simulation in the chor and see how far I got it. Never mind the missing decals. Please help me make this work. Thanks! I'm am trying to create a cloud that resembles a cartoonish human face. I've attached a model with a sort of 'bubble-wrap' look and would like to know if there is a way to quickly give a nice a rounded shape to the whole model to which I can then manipulate points to define facial characteristics. I'm open to all suggestions, included starting from scratch with another approach to accomplish the same thing. Thanks. Clouds.mdl

For anyone joining... Javier has agreed to assist with the transformation of of one of my (2D) characters to 3D. Thanks too much, Javier! I have agreed to donate the model to the A:M community and (also) donate to the Hash Fellows a sum of money toward plugin creation once the model is complete. We are posting progress here so that all may learn from the experience. I cannot speak for Javier, who most likely is doing the hard work here... but comments are welcome along the way... This is one of the pictures I created approximately 10 years ago. One other version of this same picture may exist that I colored but I don't have any leads on what box it …

Hey Rodney So I wonder if you even remember this little projet. You probably already have your own version done by now anyway, but I thought I'd throw mine out there. She's not finished, mind you, but I haven't had time to work on this kind of thing in a looong time. So here you go: [attachmentid=12908][attachmentid=12909] Maybe you can finish up the bits and pieces (armor, rocket boots etc.)Let me know what you think, and I'll mail the .mdl to you. Javier

Hi folks, here is a quick render of the cow model available for download... hosted by Ken Heslip. The post is in the main AM forum. The cow is constrained and ready to go with a walk cycle and a set up in a choreography. I used the set up machine 1 to rig it and added intermediates and fans and smartskin etc. Im not the best rigger around but if any of you Rig masters has the time to improve on it or re-rig it, I would love to see the results if you re-post the improved and updated model for folks to download again. Cheers AndyG

Hi, I'm starting to get the hang of A:M so i thought i'd go ahead and make my first model. I decided to make a dancing mexican cactus (why, I don't know). I've finished the model and a continueous dancing action. I downloaded a La cucaracha MP3 and then I started a new choreography. I decided to make the camera spin around the cactus while it dances, but I'm having some trouble with that. I made a path consraint to the path and made another aim at constraint from the camera to the cactus. But whenever I play it the camera stays in its default position and on the last frame appears on the path even though my enforcement is at 100%. Lastly how to I take pictures of…

I'm working on a web site for a gentlemen that carves wooden Santa characatures and he wanted an animated Santa that would dance to "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" and I told him "I can use one of your carved santas" (perfect job for A.M.) So I took a digital picture of one of his carved Santas and mapped it to a grid (billboard) and added a simple skeleton and proceeded to make him groove - including a "bowl-full-of-jelly" laugh just 30 frames and I'm pretty happy with the results (It looks like one of his wooden sculptures dancing!) My problem is I'm trying to get him rendered on a (pure 255,255,255) white background (without any sort of gradient) and WITH a s…

Hi, got an idea for a new project!! Ill see if I can upload a sketch but it involves an ocean shore with 2-3 large rocks and various small ones as the focal point. Grass and maybe a old beach chair or fence in there too. I have some of it done (see pic). I need to work on the sand texture/shader. The water was kinda interesting to do. I had to adjust the transparency and reflectivity to get the right look. I wanted to use the Index of Refraction, density, and transparency settings for more realistic w…
