Edit: No need to try this anymore. I have ascertained enough to send a bug report. Thanks! load this PRJ, select the camera view (number pad 1), and select model you see there. Switch between Director mode and Skeletal Mode. Can you see the shade thru the window in both modes or just one? CantSeeThruGlass.prj What graphics card do you have?

This is a scene from one of the episodes I'm working on. Super Mega Fox is patrolling the city and Arnold who thinks she's an evil monster, is constantly trying to end her. Unfortunately for him things never go right. In fact, she never even notices his efforts. The models Arny Head and Hulk were combined to create the model. Produce.mp4

Just a quick test using an animated sprite to make fire. I have already posted this on the Movie Forum, but I'd want as many as possible to comment on it. I realize it's not realistic, but what should be different? The goal is to make it hyper realistic...;-) [attachmentid=10770]Download the movie - Right click and Save Target As... - and set it to loop for best effect :-) This is the animated Sprite I used: [attachmentid=10680] [attachmentid=10678] Edit For some strange reason it didn't work to link to attachments in other posts (it worked in the preview...) Go here to look at the animation instead, but please post your comments in this …

Hello, i am working on a complex face Modell, and i need most of the features to be real geometry (Nose, region under nose etc.). Therefore my model is quite complex. Now i have the problem, that the surface tends to have small little bumps (see picture). I need to get rid of these, and have a very smooth surface, like a fotomodell? Is ther any cool and easy way to archive this aside from try and error ... ? Thanks for helping me out on this! Heiner

Hi Hashers Well I thought I would post a little segment from my latest 'Bella Bear' extravaganza. The finished flick itself is only a small segment from one of my stories and will only be just over a minute long when finished... When done I will post the whole thing (hopefully by the end of next month) - enjoy! Alf's Appearance

Hey guys, Dropped an old sneak cycle that I made a long time ago on the model and rendered.... just for fun. There are some wierd things happening on the background, looks like a shadow, even though I have recieve no shadows checked... Maybe because this scene was made a long time ago in v11 and reopened in v13? 1meg http://www.vrcops.com/vids/Sneak1a.mov Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

Hey peeps, been working on this animation the last couple days. Just something for my demo reel. I haven't animated the second character yet, but he's going to be looking at a paper or something. Can you guess what's going to happen next? Yeah, he's gonna wipe it on the poor guy, but in a very discreet manner. Anyway, comments welcome! Enjoy! sneeze_low.mov

After reading the latest Martin's Minutes about "Charlie Brown Books" I remembered that I modeled a Snoopy vs Red Baron a few years back using Lightwave and was curious to try the Lightwave importer with A:M. After re examining the model I decided to model him from scratch in A:M. I just get a kick out of the elegance of spline patches vs subdivision modeling it seems like you can say more with less. Here is some progress of the model so far... still working on the hands and feet and will be modeling a scarf next.

Hello all This will be my first post and first WIP. The characters name is Snowball and she is my mascot for my website. I plan on doing some small animations of her along with a small film if everything goes as planned. The model is almost complete, all that lacks now are the clothes and the hair. I didn't want to offend anyone so I censored her anatomy for public view. In all other animations/renders when complete everything is covered so I won't need to censor anything Please critique or comment whatever you feel. If there are any suggestions as for clothes by all means let me hear them, the original character was more cartoony and didn't have as much detail…

As the Pleistocene was ending, and just before the Apple II hit the market, [c.1970] I had moved to San Francisco. Being a graphic designer with fair-to-middlin’ design skills, but little drawing ability, I became enthralled by the idiosyncratic styles of the underground comic artists. Somewhere inside me, a voice said ‘you can do this’. It took a while, but I eventually put out two issues of “Four-Fisted Talesâ€. [just as the underground days were ending] After Issue#1, I posted notices at local comics stores looking for artists to back me on Issue#2. Thus I met Norm Silveira. As we rubbed along building Issue#2, it became clear that we each focused on different …

Soap Opera

Hi all: I finally got around to compressing the final version of Soap Opera. For those who don't know, it's a five-minute slice of Mozart's Don Giovanni performed by the denizens of a bathroom. "You'll never look at Pert Plus the same way again!" This version premiered at the D.C. Shorts Festival in September 2005. (I think, technically, it was first shown at the Hash SIGGRAPH party, but I won't tell D.C. Shorts if you don't.) Its next appearance will be at the Cleveland Film Festival this March. I wrote and animated it, Jeff Lee produced the music, and we both modeled it. Special thanks to David Rogers for an exhaustive lighting critique (which I trie…

We have a case we're working on where bottles inside the vehicle served as a distraction to the driver. My 16 year old son, modeled this bottle. Hi folks, I was asked at work to create a device that would wash solar panels. A dusty solar panel can have an efficiency reduction of 40%. The forensic lab [attachmentid=17841] that is under my care (I'm a stationary building engineer), has the whole roof covered with photovoltaic (solar) panels that generates its own electricity (under optimum conditions). Cleaning the dust from such a massive solar farm proved to be difficult, so, I devised this hi-pressure water sprayer that guides itself on the panel and the operator simply pushes the pressure line up and down the panels. This is a simple illustration I made this week, (roughly 9 total hours), tha tillustra…

This is a quick render I did. [attachmentid=19353] It's based off of this image I found on the Internet. [attachmentid=19354] I wanted to see if I could get any better quality with A:M. I should have used a larger resolution map for the Sun, but it's allright for what it is. I'll probably add a bit of Specular to the next render I do, and may move the planets closer together, but it's basically finshed here.

Well, it's that time of year again. The Druids are gathered at Stonehenge to watch the first rays of sunlight illuminate the standing stones on the longest day of the year. Romantic, fanciful minds turn to thoughts of Shakespear and fairies. Time to dig out an old file but,,, AGGGHHH! Suddenly my old AVIs won't play! Has anyone found that renders they have done in the past refuse to run on newer versions of MS Media Player? This is the only one that I could get to run. One of my very first A:M tests from a few years ago. Happy Midsummers Day!

Yves Poissant's Primitives page has this to say about the Squared Wy: "Note that this primitive is not completed. There is a 6 point patch in the center and I did not find an elegant and satisfactory way to close it. If anybody finds an elegant solution, I would be glad to hear about it." Here's my offering as to a possible solution. Anyone else have a good one? I think the underlying problem with this shape is that there is not elegant way to do it in the real world. Take a lump of clay and try it, you'll see what I mean. My method is far from elegant, but it works. Then again, does anyone even use any of the primitives besides the cube? -Zev Squared_Wy.mdl

Testing out a new render look...this is toon rendered, but without the outlines. It gives it a nice, clean, cut-paper like look with slightly turned edges, which doesn't try to mimic the look of hand-drawn animation. The character is from a new short I'm working on. I've finally had a chance to actually sit down and start it. http://www.anzovin.com/swashbuckler --Raf

So I didn't actually finish the animation I was working on for animation class last semester, but I still got an A. Now the guy who did the voice over work for Flynn has been asking me when it's going to be done, and when we start on the next episode, so I figure in two weeks, when the semester is over, I should get back to work on it. Today I kinda felt like doodling a bit in A:M, so I made these two props, a rusty sword, and a wooden shield.

I'm pleased to announce that my short film "The Cell-Phone," winner of the first Mini-Movie contest, will receive its film festival premiere at the D.C. Shorts Festival on Thursday, September 14, 2006. This is a newly re-rendered and revised version, produced with a lot of help from A:Mers Jeff Lee, Mike Stamm, Glenn Antofer, and Rhett Jackson. In addition, my films "<ESC>" and "Soap Opera" will be showing at the first annual Idaho Panhandle International Film Festival in Sandpoint, Idaho. The festival runs from August 24-26.

THUR: Thanks for the comments, they mean a lot, really. Folks here look at it and say..."ooh, the beatles!" I am updating the animation file with a new one that shows all 4 stones...I know I still have some tweeking. I love V11's hair and the ease in which you can 'emulate' a hairstyle quickly. Thru practice, I now consider myself a bit of a 'virtual hairstylist'. Hmmm. Maybe I WILL do the Beatles next...which era??? WED: I wanted to make my next characters to be based off of real personas...with the ultimate goal being to do the 'real' imitating in animation. I plan to make the main character (in the center) have an 'over-elasticized' face in animation. …
