Howdy folks, I decided to revive an old short that I was working on back in 2000 at least that's the oldest renders I found, I think I started it earlier. With some of the new features in A:M I think it will be easier to accomplish some things. Such as CP Weights, Dynamic Bones, etc. Plus it will help me to get into practice with some of A:M's new features before doing a bigger project. Anyways here are a couple screen shots and a little pose test anim I did back then. Hopefully I can stay motivated and get it done this time. testing_pose_slip.mov

One of the things I love doing in AM is taking a model I've used for a while and changing it around as the script calls. In this pic, Super Mega Fox gets a bit hulked out, for an upcoming scene. The hard part is redoing so many smart skins. Bulking her up required many more splines and naturally, the old smart skins wouldn't work with that, so I'll be working on this for a bit. Even more, this is only phase one of the muscle enlargement. Phase three should be hilarious, since I was thinking along the lines of Tex Avery, when it comes to overdoing things.

Hi fellow Hashers, Í've been awfully busy lately with my schoolwork but in my spare moments i managed to start the character that i was intetn on making when i bought A:M. His name is Richard Derry, he's a midle aged man who's depressed bc he has recently lost his wife. Here is the head WIP, i have yet to do the ears b finals are creeping up on me but i'll work on those as soon as summer vacation starts (june 16th). Meanwhile i would like to refine the face as much as possible before moving on. C & C are welcome. PS. i was in a rush so the shadows on the skylit render are only raytraced with one ray.

He's not entirley finished yet (hence why I posted this in the WIP section), but I figured I'd might aswell post what I've currently got in the forums for you all to see. This is my first original character that I've actually decided to finish... and be proud of. (lol) Name: Rick Smooth Occupation: Super Spy Interests: Saving the World, and Himself I intend on giving him a sort of utility belt to hold some cool spy gadgets, and I'm thinking about adding pockets to his jacket... not sure if they'll really show up due to the toon shaded-ness of him. Hopefully you'll see this guy in an animation one of these centuries, but first I'm going to have to…

Hello: I am trying to rig a book I designed. I am wondering if I should be building it from a closed form then use a pose slider/precent to get the book to open pivoting on bones. I know that if I hold teh book up like you do when reading it and put the bone up/down the book spine and associate front cover CPs I can then rotate in Z axi to 'close' the book. but then I get stuck with the binding AND when I close the book, the PADDING page overlaps and doesn't close on top of the padding page. The front padding can be removed but being a dictionary book with the word definitions I ant being in the middle, I can't realistically have the middle of the dictionar…

So... I made this dragon right, but I have absolutely no idea how to go about rigging it. I would get The Setup Machine, but its a tad bit expensive. I'm posting a picture of the whole thing shaded and wireframe. If it helps I can post more pics of close-ups of certain areas. (i.e. the legs, neck, tail, wings, etc.) Any ideas would be great. Thanks

Hey guys... I'm working on this superhero-type named 'CrimeBomb... I have modelled quite a rigging delemma. Any advice on the best way to approach such a big-armed figure? Any rigging gurus out there want to try their hand? I'm sort of awaiting TSM2, learning what I can about fans and coggs and smartskins... thought I'd run it by the bunch of you, whom I highly regard. I just got Animation Master for Christmas, and this is the model I've first made. Its called Mix the Jester. The only problem is that I don't understand how to put a skeletal rig in it and make the hands work. I don't get how to make the hands work. So, if anyone could give me tips on how to rig it, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks mix.mov

I have created a new little character mainly for the purpose of practicing rigging and animating. i am going to make a music video eventually with this guy using the song Tonto, Jump On It! but i am still rigging him right now. i have used the 2001 Skeletal rig and i still have a little touching up to do for some small points that are a little out of place. but its the best i have done. i never have rigged a human before. nor made one. i need to know how to use the target things. the cubes for like the feet targets and the hip/pelvis cube mover. if i could rig these it would make my animating alot smoother and easier. so if someone could point me in t…

Been working on a commission for a friend and was running into a problem with the fire ring. I have created a circle spline path and attached a fire emitter on that path to create my "ring of fire". For some reason the path it takes looks like so: And the render: test2.mov I can't figure out why the streaks stay on a hexagonal path dispite it being attached to a circle. Any ideas?

Working on an Animation for my senior project. This is the Bellato's Massive Armored Unit (MAU) The "Catapult" I'm plannin on having a desert backdrop with multiple other Catapults falling in from air support and having returned enemy fire. Besides the Wiring in the legs coming through the plating on the foot and the lack of the shoulder net launcher, can anyone see any flaws in my work so far? Catapult_Render_Final.mov

I... need some serious help with building a character for this model. I'd started making a model for the character, but it turned out pretty badly. Does anyone have any way that i could go about creating this model? Where should i start? I always seem to have a great deal of trouble creating the chin/neck combination. Any pointers? I created some images for the local residents group to show the effect of widening a road and adding parking on the roadside. I've only had time to build one car, a basic Audi which uses a colour map for most of the detail, but I widened the road in a paint program and then used a camera rotoscope with the ground set to front projection. I might build some more cars, they're always useful for bg / architectural work, but the image is for a meeting tomorrow and will probably never be seen again.

I don't know why, maybe it's really late, but this little bit cracks me up. This guy gets run off the road by Ravel in his ambulance and is pissed, so he goes to town honking his horn while Ravel drives off oblivious to what's happened. Something about the squeezing to honk the horn is too funny to me. I'm thinking he needs to honk it about 5 more times. The car isn't animated yet, it'll be rocking and stuff. A few nights ago i thought of how viper was modleing a car, and so i though well maybe i should try to model a car at first i thought i should model my favorite car a mustang, or i could draw my own car. but then i discoverd i suck at drawing cars. so i started drawing and adding stuff as i go. eventualy i had a futuristic motorcycle!! [attachmentid=19287] And i added some more stuff to, i even know how the whole thing works!! ok so the back of the cycle hovers, and the front wheel keeps it under control(hover technology isn't perfect yet). the wheels are not connected to the cycle, the berrings on the bike are metal and are repelling the metal on the inner tir…

Ok BakeRod, Dan , and all the others who have asked for more Here's an old piece I did in the first version of master to have fur( was that 7?) From concept to storyboard to broadcast it took six very long weeks. The original script called for 25 seconds of roadkill and 5 seconds of "Mr Explanation" but the client nixed that and it changed to 18/12. It's still one of my favourite jobs but I would have killed for an extra week on the animation, which is "patchy". Small swf file 1.9Mb 320 x 240 Big swf file 4.3 Mb 640 x 480 They're flash files because I like the Spark video compressor and I have it for flash. Right click and "save as" if you want to sav…

I've been working on this in bits of spare time I manage to carve out now and then - 10 minutes here and there, basically. It's Robbie Sinclair from the TV show "Dinosaurs" (I couldn't come up with any original ideas that were interesting enough). I plan on modeling the whole thing, texturing, rigging, and eventually animating as well. This is the first character model I've really committed to in A:M, since I don't really consider myself a modeler, but I want to get better. I know I have to work on the CP layout, parallel rows are getting pretty dense in some areas. I've had some problems with hooks (they never seem to want to work, is there a trick to making …

I watched iRobot the other night and decided to give it a go with a little cartoony look added. Not sure what to do with the face but it was fun to do a quick model. I used the 2008 rig. It's easy to install and has great instructions to follow, plus it gave the right amount of control for this character. The only CP weight blending I had to do was in the palm of his hands so the joints would stay connected using the hand controls. It needs some work but it's a start.

Well, no thanks to the Rant's and Rave's forum I'm making some progress on my second model. I kind of scrapped that first one because he really wasn't constructed very well. Anyway, I'm somewhat happy with the way he is coming along but I have a few problems maybe you can all help me with. 1. I originally had a 'toon mouth but it didn't look right. I kind of want to put a straight line mouth where the light green line in the picture is indicated. I'm not sure how to break into the head and make this so that the mouth will actually work - do I need to remodel the whole head? (The eyes are not attached). 2. I actually have TSM2, but I'm working on rigging …

hello, its me again. not sure how many people remember a thread i started a while ago about a movie i wanted to make called metal invasion. well the movie is still canceled, but i didn't want to completely give it up, so i continued making models for it in hopes of one day i finally get to make the movie. anyway, i mention that i was having trouble coming up for a design for the combat droid. now i finally have a design and I'm nearly complete with it. I'm going off of a design my friend made i have the upper body, lower body and hands completed. comments/crit are welcome.

as I read through the newton physics and rebuild notes I had a thought. An hour and a couple of old models later I got this. Basically I took simple models and used the rebuild plugin to create panelled versions. I thought it was cool and potentially useful for high tech backgrounds, although it does waste a lot of patches. [attachmentid=14460]

I dug up an old friend of mine, the stupid robot I made a few years ago. I've been tinkering with SynthEyes the last couple of days. Basically I recorded a video of my desk with my mobile phone and imported it into SynthEyes, did the tracking and adjustments then exported it to A:M. I see there is some jittering on the tracking, but overall I'm satisfied. The animation is just an old and crappy action I made long time ago. Let me know what you think johnny6.mov Here is an small screen capture:
