http://youtube.com/watch?v=y29l0h-1yAE Just finished a VERY RETAIL TV spot for my recurring client, Art Van Furniture. The imagery was generated by decalling furniture photos to A:M geometry. Of note: I used the BensLens Fisheye to get the 'barrel-roll' effect (I love) and you can really see it in the middle on the words 'FUNCTION-STYLE-FASHION' Also used the AI Wizard for titles and Field Render for video smoothness... client LOVED it!

This it one of the very first projects built in A:M. I made some serious mistakes which conspired to slow the modeling, and the renders. First of them was that as I built things in the Modeling Window, I applied the textures as I went along. If, like with a wood beam, I needed this object several times in several models, I would copy it and paste in place. All well and good, except for the fact that A:M loads another copy of the texture. As I duplicated the bits, I ended up with a phenominal number of textures in the Textures Folder [to say nothing of Groups]. Another less-than-desirable aspect of A:M is that if a project sits idle for a few months, A:M had difficulty fin…

Well, I've never liked the wall sconce I made for my office set. It looked more 50's and I wanted something more Deco. So here is the latest incarnation of my wall sconce Just wondering what you people think.

Hey guys, I just remembered a couple of animations I did for a fishing web site. They needed a really quick talking Stryper and an animated example of how too hook up a spedial rig using anchovies.... hmmmm. http://www.powellstripers.com/default.cfm It took about 3 days to do both anims. The lip synch could have been more robust, but for online content I guess it's OK. Comments welcome. Cheers. MU PS. I also did a talking flash card for this site somewhere.... I believe you have to click on the "maps" button and look for "Chip Powell".

I went into the attributes for the ground, and started playing around with the settings. I started to get something like water: I'm going to make a material with it and play around with changing the values to make it look like it's moving. Just thought you guys might find this interesting.

Hello all. This may be the first time I've posted a still image in "Showcase." Takes a lot less time to render than an animation... I was in a community theater of production of "Dracula" (closes tonight, in fact) and as a gift for the cast and crew, I was going to make a parody animation. Well, I only got the idea a week before closing and that's a quick turnaround time even for me, so I elected to make them a movie poster instead, with the promise of a movie to come. Anyway, the poster turned out pretty well, I think, so here it is.

Even though I use other polygon modeler to archive my assets, many of organic models is still in prj. Very few these kind of work here, I do realistic rendering mostly. Any other good looking insect? I saw a dragonfly for sale not too long ago, can't remember where.

Hey guys... I'm working on this superhero-type named 'CrimeBomb... I have modelled quite a rigging delemma. Any advice on the best way to approach such a big-armed figure? Any rigging gurus out there want to try their hand? I'm sort of awaiting TSM2, learning what I can about fans and coggs and smartskins... thought I'd run it by the bunch of you, whom I highly regard. With the help of KenH, and JohnArtbox, I was able to figure out how to get a model into AM V11, and have it look halfway decent! I had to edit the .obj before I brought it into AM to lighten it a bit, but it came in without a hitch, and as you can see looks great, thanks to Porcelain.mat. Anyway, my first tests, and more will follow. My next goal is to decal this head, and try displacement tests with it. Wish me luck!

I'm working on my image for the X-mas contest. And I'm running into problem. If you note the image below, there are certain parts of the candles where the translucency is not working properly (It's visible in the reflection on the table, too). I've tried changing materials, checking normals, altering the light source creating the translucency, but everything I try gives me the same results. Suggestions, work-arounds, comments. I can make a larger render if necessary.

I'm attempting to apply a small QT movie as a decal. It will be on a curved shape and will create an illusion of spinning with a series of blurred frames. but when I apply it, either directly in the model window or in an action window after flattening, it applies exactly the same way, with a few stretched/repeated images. I'm attempting to attach an image to show the way the movie looks, and the way it applies. Can someone telll me what I could be doing wrong? Thanks! P.S. The attach image may not be working. Don't know why, I browse for the image but there's no way to upload apparently. You'd think I'd know how to work this by now.

Well, I must apologize in advance for the trees in the foreground but the ones in the back are looking good thanks to HASH. If someone knows how to make the trees in the foreground look better please let me know. I built a tree in A:M, rendered it to a 320x240 TGA file with alpha channel, cropped it in GIMP, and then added the image to hair and slapped it on the mountain. HASH has more work to do though because fog on hair doesn't work in multipass, and I need multipass to get descent render times for animations. Plus, I think there is some other weird render problems in V12 but I am still amazed at what can be done.

Started working on a new slider model that has hair poses. You'll be able to change color, length and slide to different hair styles. It's still in the early stages, but I thought I'd show you to see what you think. I plan on adding a slider for a ponytail too. I used Jane from the cd for my test subject. Any comments and suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi This is my latest project I have been working on. I made the entire model using the 3D model in the "Dawn of War" demo. I also used it for the decals (print screen). My only concerns are that: - the laser from the 3rd tank isn't 'fuzzy' enough - the sides on the tanks are to plane Any comments would be appreciated

I've restarted this in the WIP section, because I intend to make this ongoing project a working model. After spending time experimenting with displacement maps, and flirting with bump maps, I decided to go ahead and just model in the frets and the Nut. I've completed the and attached the neck. Next the bridge and the saddle. that should be easier, followed by the tuning machines and finally the strings. Necked0.mov

WoooHooo! Pump'in out the render of this one object took almost 2 hrs on a 2.5 ghz processer. But that probably has something to do with the 136 light skydome hanging over top (Thank you Yves). This one took me about 12 hrs to model, which I'm happy with. This model will soon be available at www.TurboSquid.com for sale. Enjoy

Bought a WWI flying game a few months ago. Given my weakness for flying things, it spills over into A:M. Got an itch to play with Hansa-Brandenburgs...here's the result. On Dec.11, 1917 a flight of three W-12s led by ObLtn. Friedrich Christiansen, was on the homeward leg of their patrol. Nearing the coast, the No.3 plane, the 'Tail-End Charley', spoted an Asta-Torres airship and dove to the attack. Christiansen and his other wingman turned back to join in, but by the time they arrived it was burning. Neither plane could add much to the process as the C27 was already going down. Being Flt. Leader, Christiansen claimed the kill, and it was confirmed. After the war, in …

QT - Sorenson3 - 1.3mb I realised that I'd done some alterations to this piece (under the great advice of Mr J Barrett) and hadn't posted the final version. It's been sitting on my hard drive, neglected and alone for a month or two, and seeing as it's a finished piece, I thought that I'd post it in here. (The version posted on this forum and elsewhere is different to this one). The alterations are fairly minor, but definately add up to a much stronger little scene. They mainly relate to arcs, and carrying an action through more. I'm a sucker for details. I learnt a heck of alot from this one.
