I finally finished this animation. It's been a lot of off-and-on work, but I think I'm happy with where it is right now. This animation is my first REAL completed animation. Everything in it, from concept to modeling to texturing to animation to audio was done by me. And the link: https://mywebspace.wisc.edu/vandeweghe/web/...eactionsweb.mov Here's the link to thier website: http://www.brainreactions.com/index.php

Hi all! I'm modeling a Mantiou Swinger 6-Way Rear Shock that is begining to look rather good. The decal on the oilcylinder is comming from the manufacturer. I'd like some comments for improvments. It is a Mountain Bike Rear Shock for Downhill purpose. Orginal: http://www.answerproducts.com/items.asp?deptid=12&itemid=40 //Korken

Hi. I decided to give greenscreening a try. I started off with dying a sheet green, which sort of worked, but ended up buying a peice of cycloth. This was filmed in my livingroom with my 2 kids. The whole procces was challenging and at times frustrating, but in the end I learned a ton and had fun. The quality is poor because I have a miny DV camera, my editing software is crude at keying, my animation is "developing", I had to compress the crap out of it to get it to 11 mb, wah, wah, wah. This is just the beginning. I am getting Final Cut Pro which will help with the keying, and I'm starting to understand how action blending works, I think. When I get FCP I want to redo …

Hi guys, check out http://www.cgunderground.com/forum/showthread.php?t=96 CGUnderground has green-lit the short film that I am making using Animation Master. They are hosting a permanent forum for the short film. On top of that they will host a webpage for it and place two interviews on thier site about it. http://www.cgunderground.com/ There is a persistant link to the forum discusion about the making of the film on thier front page. This is the film that I am working on with apprentices David Higgins and Chris Wheeler whom I've been teaching to animate using Animation Master as a result of the Mentoring program that David Rogers launched here in the H…

I've always dreaded going back and editing the geometry of "finished" models because it typically involves breaking decals. Is it possible to work around this by storing decal stamp data on a CP by CP basis, rather than a patch by patch basis? Now, bear with me for a second here. My programming knowledge is pretty limited, so I have no idea how feasible something like this is; if it would work, if it would create ridiculously bloated files, what have you. But I DO know that this is a feature I've wanted for a long, long time and it just kind of occurred to me how one might go about doing it. Here's what I'm thinking. Here's a simple little model made up of fo…

Thought I'd finally take a crack at modeling a realistic head to go with the ears I made earlier. This is a self portrait (egomaniacal person that I am). I made ears during a post debating what is the most difficult body part to model. (The "ears have it" in this case.) The ear models (I made an elf/orc version, too) are still available if anybody needs ears for their own model. Ears Here's the face to go with the ears (idealized of course--"Isn't he so handsom! Gaffaw, gaffaw..."). Any suggestions for improvement--for the model that is, not plastic surgery for myself--are quite welcome. Thanks!

Well, I've jumped from making a decent looking decal of a rivet to a full rivet map. The problem was that in order to get the rivet decal to look as crisp as I wanted in the render, I upped the resolution at which I created the decal considerably. The model is 170' long on the horizontal, scaled 1:1 in AM. The decal map is the length of the model and several times it's height. All in all the map is 2.12MB. I tried resizing the map after I finished with all the rivet placement, but when I applied the resized map to the model, the rivets were noticeably degraded (see second pic). I'm no Photoshop wizard, so I may be doing something wrong. Here are the spe…

In the first clip called water.mov, you'll notice black speckles on the trees. I've narrowed this down to doing a final render with at least 4 passes and with "soften" on and of course having hair with targa files and a alpha channel. Most likely I could render this with A-buffer rendering without black speckles, but then the precedural bump on the water doesn't show. That would mean no water flow. The second clip has two segments. On the first segment, you'll see rippling in the water. That was done with an animated decal and setting the first and last frame in the choreography. Unfortunately, after saving the project and opening it back up again, the key fram…

Alright...I finally pretty much finished rigging and modeling the basics of my flower....look at the rig! I'm using dynamic constraints for each petal to cut down on the animation work time. Plot: basically a flower gets aggrovated because of a bee that keeps flying around it and is doing a whole bunch of annoying stuff (I get the ideas of that stuff from what I do to others )

Here is a rig test for an alien model which is still very much in development: This test was done to test the shoulders and hips and includes a very extreme/impossible pose for the right arm. There is still much to tweak but it is getting there. The model is 1574 patches and is rigged with TSM2 plus my additional bones for the neck and intermediates. The feet have not been properly integrated yet.

I've had AM for sometime and decided to model a human as a way to improve my skills. I'm not completely happy with the proportions of the face and would appreciate comments from any real artists on the forum. I think she looks too masculine. There are no decals on the skin, just procedurals. I planned on using the bump and diffuse procedurals as a base for the decals. I was curious if anyone had used this technique with success. Rudimentary attempts to animate using pose sliders seemed to work really well, but I wasn't completely happy with the model and had to delete the poses. (that was a learning experience right there) I modeled the body separately and …

Well, I must apologize in advance for the trees in the foreground but the ones in the back are looking good thanks to HASH. If someone knows how to make the trees in the foreground look better please let me know. I built a tree in A:M, rendered it to a 320x240 TGA file with alpha channel, cropped it in GIMP, and then added the image to hair and slapped it on the mountain. HASH has more work to do though because fog on hair doesn't work in multipass, and I need multipass to get descent render times for animations. Plus, I think there is some other weird render problems in V12 but I am still amazed at what can be done.

I've been wanting to model master chief for a while now, even though I dont have either of the games, and have finaly found the time to start. I used a free master chief model from turbo squid, ripped directly from the game, and imported it for refrence. Since 3ds's dont import verry well, it wasn't much help. So far I've finished the helmet only. Wireframes: With better lighting: Next i'm going to work on the body! -Dude

Hi Guys I am new here, and I would like to show you my last 3D animation that I did with polygons, Why? Cause now I am learning to use Hash 2003 and it seems the best way to make better animations, I have some time in 3D, one of those who used Amiga computers, so I had to learn Imagine it was very hard to learn but it was fun, 2 years ago I got the 2.0 version for PC, too bad it was the last version they never released the 3.0 one, so just about 6 months ago I decided to make this Macross 3d Animation to enter in a "Anime Music Contest Video" in Anime-Expo 2003 but I wasn't able to send the video cause they didn't had a normal address and the shipping company told me that…

this is a test for an fx shot. I'm going to add in some lasers, explosions and smoke, etc. But I'm wondering how convincing this looks, before I continue. I'm planning on cutting one or two out and putting them on seperate layers, and adding some rocking. There's something going on with the buildings when the ufo is onscreen. It's got to do with the mo…

I've started work on an image that will be used to help promote my work in the CG and artistry realm. This image will mainly be used on my business cards, as well as a background for the business website, but I hope it to also be so good that I can print it off in large sizes. I thought I would share the various stages the image goes through as I create each part of it. Today's work entitled finishing off the suimsuit the female model will be wearing, and starting work on the background element, for now being a parking lot eventually with some kind of photographic background behind it. Some of you may recal the car model I was working on months ago. Here …

Every now and then I get a call out of the blue from someone who wants me to be part of their project. These usually don't go anywhere and this is one of them. Anyway, this guy wants to make a movie, for money, using A:M! I read the screenplay, it's got problems but the core concept is a cute one. The main characters are water drops. What will that even look like? I made a quick test for him of what that might be and since there was never an NDA involved... here it is:
