Turbot WIP

Hi All, Well, I was modeling away and I came across this idea of a turtle robot....yes, a TURBOT. I really like the way it is coming out, although I would have approached this much differently next time around (that's what it's all about no?) I would like some critique on this model as I might clean it up for the Mascot Entry. Thanks, Eugene

Hi all. I recently started work on a new model. It's a very old and weathered knife with a wooden handle surrounded by a piece of leather. Just wondering if it looks anywhere near photorealistic (which i know it's not) and what i can do to improve it. Oh and, does anyone have any materials for leather? Hope you guys can help me out with this.

Looking at Stians amazing truck model I got inspired to model a classic mid 60's Ford GT40. This is the first time I have even attempted at modeling a car so I am going to have a lot of questions. I downloaded some blue prints and did a quick once over on Xtaz's car modeling tutes as well. So far Here is a shot of a modern Ford GT I am using as a visual reference: I REALLY want to finish this model and not forget or lose interest in it. Photoman

I'm still working on a stormy night but, thinking through ideas for the next one. So... I seem to remember that a few years ago there was an option to render as a negative of the standard render ? Is that still available and, if so, is it possible to combine it with a black and White/greyscale render ? I'm presently working in 15J on OSX 10:68, although hope to move up to V17 in a few weeks time. regards simon

Downloaded the Iccarus software which analyzes video and re-creates a camera tracking solution which can then be imported into A:M. The video clip is from the Iccarus tutorials. I followed along with the documentation to create the tracking solution and exported the track into an A:M v9.5 project. The project loaded just fine into A:M 13. Then took Shaggy and added him to the chor and had hip skip merrily through the scene. For a first shot at doing this, I think it turned out fairly well (as far as the camera tracking goes). I know the lighting does not match the scene and Shaggy is too crisp and sharp compared to the video, but it was just a test. C&a…

Hi! Been away from animation for quite awhile. I liked the sound file of 11 second club this month, so I have been playing with Barry Zundell's Will model I got from his excellent animation CD. The text : "You see... TV is power. The power to lull, and to pacify. And then when all eyes are glazed, and all minds are jelly... power to hold the world in your fist." My eyes are glazed, and my mind is jelly, after a few hours, 11sec_oct02.mov Feel free to comment, still lot's of time. Michel

http://www.gentlechifitness.com/images/skulls_and_bone.wmv This project made me wish for the new NLE capability in ver 15 BTW It cost me $2 to fill my tank with gas. Are people really paying $50 for a tank of gas????? I made 2 clip with flame and without flame then played with the transparency control in the animation. The paper being burn made the edge too sharp. Any suggestion on how to make paper burn more realistic?

Well, I guess the Discovery needs a cockpit, so here goes. Again, it would be nice to have some accurate blueprints to work from, but the model is getting there. Some of this is guess work as the cockpit is not completely shown in the movie. Still have the overhead panels to complete along with the seats and rear wall section. Once the model is complete, it will be posted in the models section to go along with the Discovery model. Al

I was going to submit a second entry for the "toon" contest, but Steve informed me I could only do one. So, this is just a quick pic I did the other day. It's nothing spectacular, but fun nonetheless. I created the Alien a couple years back, just never did anything with him, but now that I've got TSM, he's boned and rigged. Comments and critiques are welcome, but the picture is pretty much finished. Time to move on to other things. (v10.5 / WIN98se / AMD 2400+ / 512 MB / ATI Radeon9200)

OK, I'm trying to get to grips with the patch modelling. Once I start laying down the CP's, it's like a juggling act to get four-point patches without destroying the ones already there. Could someone pleeze tell me if I am going about this the right way, or if I need to scrub this and start again. When I see other people's works (just seen Ken H's start of a face model), they seem so neat compared to mine. Thanks for taking a look... Adam

Hey, Here is a 3 segment shot I just rendered out. (about 5Mb) http://www.dustinproductions.com/files/Dustin-3-views.m1v It shows the same virtual scene from 3 different angles (actually this is the first time I have been able to get more than one camera in a live action environment to work). Of course after is been rendered I see all kinds of flaws, but knowing the keen eye here on the forum, I thought ya'll could tear it apart for me and point out the things to fix. Things I know are wrong. 1. Truck is too large 2. Car is too small. 3. Too much lean on the car going through the corner. 4. Seems to be on small deviation in the path (horizontal)…

I just recently bought a 2004 Honda Rebel 250 motorcycle. Sold my Yamaha Vino 125 scooter and am now riding the Rebel. I started modelling the bike for three reasons. The first, is that I am learning how the darned thing is actually put together. The second is that come the winter months, I want to repaint it to make it more visible and distinctive. I also want to try any modifications to the bike first on a 3D model before implementing it on the real thing. So, I am modelling it from the ground up, which is satisfying the first reason for modelling the bike. The 34 Ford I was working on is going to have to wait a while until this project is done. C&am…

This came to me on Wednesday, I 'boarded it on Thursday, modeled it on Friday, animated Saturday, and finished it tonight. (All in between full-time work and college.) I intend to include it as part o' my Halloween card to fiends and family via e-mail. (Hooray for Hash!) Have I mentioned I adore this software? This is just for fun, really, but I am really very proud of the effect of the monochromatic colour scheme. I do so love the "look" of this spot... Enjoy! Skullford_Small.mov

Helping a buddy at work with a MMORPG; he needed a character artist so I did a quick test for him. Though I code all day now I loaded the latest version of A:M 04' up and cranked away... Sorry all but its me again with more questions. The model I'm working with at the moment has a few short chains of bones in the hair and breasts with Dynamic Constraints to give it some "free" secondary motion as she moves. This motion is determined by A:M based on how fast the model moves in real time. Faster, more motion, slower less. Just like in the real world. To capture this motion for NetRender to use, a scene needs to have the Dynamics baked first. However when baking, A:M plays through the scene, making keyframes for the Dynamics as it goes, much slower than in realtime. And it is at this slower speed that A:M now calculates the amount of motion on an…

I have been having issues with v 19, I think for about two months. In fact I participated in the image contest and could not finish the image in v19. I had to complete the image in v 18. I have created 4 new character models in the last month and half and each time as the patch count rises, v19 slows to a crawl or not responsive or finally crashes. I thought I had a setting incorrect or corrupt texture, material, map or something causing the issue in the models. I have cleared all materials maps and settings in the model but this did not help. Here are the computer specs I7 5930 Intel 6 core processor, ssd drives, with 32 gig of ddr4 ram, nvidia 960 with the …

I was so inspired by Will Sutton's tree - that I had to give it a go. I had a leftover tree from when I was playing around with Marcel Bricman's Treez plugin - added hairy foilage - (2 emitters, 2 diffuse color decals) - When I rendered - decided I didn't like the colors - went into photoshop - changed to Grayscale, added the mountain horizon in the background - tweaked the contrast - Produced something very unusual for me - not cartoony - not really real - but pseudo-tromp-d'oeil... Will also post the original rendering

Hi Guys, I would like to share something that I have currently in the works. The head is complete, but I am still working on the body. The Greaseman is based on a real Disc- Jocky from DCRadio700. http://www.greaseman.org I've been listening to him for years and he's really funny. I hope to create some animated shorts based on his radio sketches. [attachmentid=9731][attachmentid=9732] -Edit--- This is the Front and Side Profiles that I drew. I thought about what I could do as a first project, and thought it would be good to make a movie of Jabberwocky - not too long, and I've always been a fan. Then as I went through TaoA:M I thought, maybe just a verse. As I finished TaoA:M, I thought, just a couple of words. So - "BEWARE THE JABBERWOCK!" He's supposed to be from Tenniel's Jabberwock illustration, and, yes, those are socks: He's only got a basic modified 2001 rig, but as he doesn't appear much in the poem, he doesn't need any more. My next move is to try and bake a Darktree onto his skin and change it in 3d Painter.

I wanted to take a break from the tutorials and put some of what I have learned into practice. So far, I have modified Schlitzy by getting rid of most of the hair. Built a room, still need to put trim around the window. Added a layer behind the window for the moonlit background. Added a decal to the floor to simulate hardwood, and added some reflection to it. Finally, played around with the lighting (although, I'm still not sure what I'm doing with them). C & C always welcome. Thanks... Al [attachmentid=20568] [attachmentid=20569]

I've been working on a toon flower model for the trees with leaves project. I discovered something interesting. You can control hair guides with a pose slider. The model is set up for toon render, but I think I'll be able to set an image for the petals for normal renders. I'll be adding sliders for color, size of petals and for flower growth. Let me know what you think.
