My first festival short, "Marboxian," is now up on A:M Films. [Link] Parts of it are downright painful for me to watch now, but it's had a good run this year. Now I just need to finish up "Council of Mice" in a month. Yeek. Which reminds me, I have a call to make... Hope y'all like it- -M@

Heres the beginnings of a Demon model I'm working on for a client. the Head will be radically different. It will be more based on a chaos beastman from Warhammer, but the body is just about there. I'd like critiques to help me make it better. The info I got on the superhero thread was invaluable and I'm hoping for more of the same here. Here is a link to a 360... http://www.colins-loft.net/free/examples/Demon/DemonBody.htm and here is a link to a pic with very very rough hair on the legs.. did I mention it was rough? Any constructive input is greatly appreciated. C

Tried to make some photorealism... Well just newbie photorealism Thanks to Mr Talbot for the model and the education Sure there are better students But perhaps this is the future a virtual Michael J in everyones living room Sure you have to use your VISA-card first but then he steps in to your own Holoverse http://www.holoverse.com/ Or shall we make some Iconoclasm? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iconoclasm Stop rendering the living and the dead? The question is for sure not so easy to answer. But think about it - feel about it? Comments welcome!

I've got the front part of the bike almost finished, so I thought I'd post some pics: [attachmentid=14390] I'm trying to use the image on the cover of the DVD case as my main reference. I wish I knew how to take screencaps off of the dvd to use for other views. I have some views of the McFarlane model, but it isn't exactly accurate, and its scale is too small compared to the Kaneda figure, so I'm trying not to rely on those too much. This is going on my modeling reel, so feel free to crit the crap out of it.

Downloaded the Iccarus software which analyzes video and re-creates a camera tracking solution which can then be imported into A:M. The video clip is from the Iccarus tutorials. I followed along with the documentation to create the tracking solution and exported the track into an A:M v9.5 project. The project loaded just fine into A:M 13. Then took Shaggy and added him to the chor and had hip skip merrily through the scene. For a first shot at doing this, I think it turned out fairly well (as far as the camera tracking goes). I know the lighting does not match the scene and Shaggy is too crisp and sharp compared to the video, but it was just a test. C&a…

I was just trying to teach myself how to rig a character (again) and decided to start out with a simple model. It's just a Box with boxy legs. It's not very refined, the jump aspect I think needs the most work. The knee targets will *pop* when extended fully and I think that's my problem. Here it is, enjoy. Hello All, This is my first attempt at a car model. It's more a study to see if I can model low poly vehicles quickly for use in real time simulations in Dark Basic Pro. I've got a good workflow going converting from A:M to .X, by way of exporting as an .obj, then opening and texturing in Ultimate Unwrap, and using UU's .x exporter. This model is "loosley" based on the RX-7, and, I didn't quite get all the lines, but, I just want to know if I'm heading in the right direction. Its just the body now, all in one piece. I'm not trying to get every little detail, because for realtime it would be just too many polys. Mostly, it would be nice to get the basic shapes of ca…

OK, I'm trying to get to grips with the patch modelling. Once I start laying down the CP's, it's like a juggling act to get four-point patches without destroying the ones already there. Could someone pleeze tell me if I am going about this the right way, or if I need to scrub this and start again. When I see other people's works (just seen Ken H's start of a face model), they seem so neat compared to mine. Thanks for taking a look... Adam

Hi All, Well, I was modeling away and I came across this idea of a turtle robot....yes, a TURBOT. I really like the way it is coming out, although I would have approached this much differently next time around (that's what it's all about no?) I would like some critique on this model as I might clean it up for the Mascot Entry. Thanks, Eugene

Hi, guys. It's been a while. 8 month project and not yet over. I've worked with Dr. Eric Drexler to design and animate a nanotechnology device of the future. We are not just making science fiction pictures. This is as real a design as we can make it even though it will be ten years or more before we can build it. Dr. Drexler has three published books in nano and is considered by many to be the father of this industry. He co-founded the Foresight Institute, www.foresight.org The device of this animation is a desktop factory which can take in acetylene, tear it apart and create product from the atoms. I have always been interested in nanotechnology since I read …

I was going to submit a second entry for the "toon" contest, but Steve informed me I could only do one. So, this is just a quick pic I did the other day. It's nothing spectacular, but fun nonetheless. I created the Alien a couple years back, just never did anything with him, but now that I've got TSM, he's boned and rigged. Comments and critiques are welcome, but the picture is pretty much finished. Time to move on to other things. (v10.5 / WIN98se / AMD 2400+ / 512 MB / ATI Radeon9200)

This is my attempt at doing the voice of the main character of my current project. She is an approximately-ten-year-old girl who reaches the age of early 20s by the end the project, so her voice should change a little between the beginning and end of the story. I figured, by doing the voice myself, I could change the voice as needed. Self-directing is easier than telling someone else exactly what you need. (also, it makes it less daunting to do multiple takes). I thought I would post this test (or self-audition) here on this site to get the opinions of my fellow animators, whose opinions I trust. And, yes, I borrowed, verbatim, the dialog from Jason Osipa's ani…

Well, Daleks outside the house, at any rate. Still have a lot of texturing work to do, but I thought I'd throw this up there for commentary, especially from other Dr. Who fans about how I can improve the shape. The plunger arm does extend, though I forgot to show it here. Click on the image for a much larger version.

Hey everyone, I have about 6 weeks left in my first year at the Cleveland Institute of Art and have recently started using Animation Master pretty heavily again. I'd like to share some of my projects. My first project using was re-purposing or increasing the aesthetic qualities of some object for my 3D design course. I used AM for previsualization (helping me better understand aesthetic and ergonomic variations) and then crafted the final object with wood. My next project was to make a game of some sort. I choose to make a board game. Again AM was used to previsualize the game and settle on a final aesthetic theme before sending the obj…

Modeling caricatures is not so easy... I have had a try... Here is the result... Who is it? It is not Santa Claus! It is not Gandhi... Have a guess! Now there is only two caricatures on the A:M stills. You can have a search: http://www.hash.com/stills/thumbnails.php?...arch=caricature I believe in more caricatures... something for a newbie to download... and start to play with... why not have a little exchange of caricatures... upploading models! It can be "funny" to let different caricatures have some meeting - Santa Claus, Gandhi and some one else... what will they be talking about? It is up to everyones imagination to decide.

Hey, it's been a while since I've posted somthing new. Since i saw that wonderful katana render, i was inspired again to make something cool with animation master. I decided to make my favorite gun. The bullets are modifed from the one that i made in the bullet thread in the material lab. Ben C&C wanted and welcome.... even if its harsh

Hello All- Came across this fascinating little animation which I think was done in another program. I think the actual revolving of the bones/parts might be fairly simple or straightforward but I can't figure out how they get the skin to not crease as the parts fold in on themselves... Any ideas how not to crease the outer skin as the parts rotate? Thanks for any info! Tom CubeSpin.wmv

I've had the program over a year now and decided it was finally time to start making films. So, my first one is Hero: Legend of the West. It has a three page script with only two people who speak in it. Well, there are like two incidentals, but they don't count. Now I haven't modeled everything myself, the horse for example is from the CD, so I have to remodel the saddle to a more western style saddle. But, Hero is the very first character I've ever modeled, so be easy on critiquing him. I'm quite proud that I was finally able to build a character, but there are a lot of faults in the model that luckily get covered up by the toon render!! BTW, the pics aren't i…

If anyone has payed attention or if ive forgotten to mention the past two years i have made a video for our Thanksgiving Carpetball tournament. Each year it has improved immensly and each year i think i wont be able to out-do myself. But i have once again. I have modeled all the people that will be in the tournament to be involved in the video. I am not the best realistic modeller but i pulled off a neat cartoonish look for everyone. With a few modifications and different outfits and hairdo's i say this turned out pretty awesome. I have also [using the 2001 skeleton rig] rigged all 20 something people. Everything has been done by me and none others . Here a…

Hi! Been away from animation for quite awhile. I liked the sound file of 11 second club this month, so I have been playing with Barry Zundell's Will model I got from his excellent animation CD. I'm really looking forward to this movie so thought I'd try to WIP together Ralph... from the upcoming Disney feature 'Wreck it Ralph". Disney's response to the other 'it's good to be a badguy' films from other companies. This is as far as I got before getting a little bored with him. I'm not pleased with the likeness but I like the eyes and may use them again. Edit: I was trying to be clever by making a reference to 'Runaway Ralph'... the famous children's storybook mouse. Before I was done typing I had confused myself! Wreck it Ralph is the Disney movie coming soon to theaters. There are at least two trailes for the movie currently in circ…

I have been having issues with v 19, I think for about two months. In fact I participated in the image contest and could not finish the image in v19. I had to complete the image in v 18. I have created 4 new character models in the last month and half and each time as the patch count rises, v19 slows to a crawl or not responsive or finally crashes. I thought I had a setting incorrect or corrupt texture, material, map or something causing the issue in the models. I have cleared all materials maps and settings in the model but this did not help. Here are the computer specs I7 5930 Intel 6 core processor, ssd drives, with 32 gig of ddr4 ram, nvidia 960 with the …

Here's something I made really quick after seeing one of the animations on the Maxwell website. The topic is in the OT section, you should check it out. Anyways, it made me want to try to mimic liquid with a:m, this is the best I could do but I'm still playing around with it, I'll post some other things later if I get something cool . All it is is a model of a wineglass with a seperate model for the wine with a seperate bone. The wine tilts with the glass because of the bone, but the surface of the liquid is cloth with gravity turned off and a force to give the surface ripples. Its nothing special but it looks cool, although I wish you could see the ripples better…

I wanted to take a break from the tutorials and put some of what I have learned into practice. So far, I have modified Schlitzy by getting rid of most of the hair. Built a room, still need to put trim around the window. Added a layer behind the window for the moonlit background. Added a decal to the floor to simulate hardwood, and added some reflection to it. Finally, played around with the lighting (although, I'm still not sure what I'm doing with them). C & C always welcome. Thanks... Al [attachmentid=20568] [attachmentid=20569]

I have been wanting to do an engine in too much detail for a while now, and there was a tossup between radial, rotary (not Wankel), or steam. and radial won out. I fear the patch count will make using it for an aircraft unlikely, barring an upgrade in my video card. I tried using a displacement maps for the fins but the render times went from the current less than 1s to close to around twenty seconds. So far I am mostly done with one cylinder, it still needs spark plugs, and I might want to add an emitter plate for the exhaust.
