Had an idea for a game for tablets/phones and was wondering if anyone here uses the Unity engine and can help produce it. Will need animators, texture artist, sounds. Idea is this: Zombie Taxi Driver. The idea is the player is the passenger, the driver is a zombie. You have a set amount of $$ that diminishes as time goes on (meter). You need to get from one end of a town to another before you run out of time/money. View would be inside in the back seat of the taxi and as you give directions the zombie would look in the rear view mirror and make a zombie groan. Controls would be slightly delayed since your directing which way to turn when to stop and whe…

So, I had this idea - it may crash and burn... but here it goes. I need to learn how to model and rig a mouth - and learn it well. I think I'm not the only one. I've been wowed by Victor's mouth rig, and David Simmons "Bertram's Face Rig". Trouble is there are no tuts out there to explain them. David has posted his files and some explanation but for a n00b like me - it's not enough - and I'm still not sure how to well design the MOUTH first (modeling wise) to get rigged well. So I figured I'd make kind of a generic 'mask' face. I'd post it here - we can all iterate the model until we feel it's well done enough. Then I'll start trying to implement one of these boned …

I've started some tests for this animated Holiday Greeting for my company. The render I'm posting is a very preliminary test and I'm posting it because there's quite a bit of pixelation in the ornament at bottom right. I've tried rendering both as QT and AVI, and gone as high as nine passes to try to remedy it. Also changed my driver from Open GL to Direct3D v8, and nothing's helped. Comments appreciated! Gerry

Here's a final render of the company holiday greeting I had in the WIP forum. This render uses the h.264 codec so you may need QT player 7 to see it. Turn on your speakers! This is what we still need to accomplish: Keep it at good quality but at or about 3megs; be able to email it in a format that won't be blocked by firewalls (my boss is concerned that many of the law firms who are our customers have firewalls that block .mov files but not .avi files. I'm not sure if this is true or not but it's how she feels) settle on a format that is viewable by as many people as possible (therefore h.264 maybe a problem). enable it to play right in the emai…

Company looking for a modeler, this is a paying gig!

Hi All, A friend of mine is in need of a modeler to create a sign their company. This is for real and is a paid gig. The job involes taking an illustrator file(post script) and creating a sign model that may be used later to create the vacumme form template. In the short term the model needs to be created and movies rendered of it turning around. THIS MUST BE AN ACCURATE MODEL. I would do this, but I am full up on other modeling gigs. If you are interested, please email me at the address below with a link to some samples of work you have done. william@hennesproductions.com Cheers, William

I have been working on getting the lighting correct for compositing Hash characters into photo backgrounds. This can be tricky sometimes because you have to take the entire scene into account in selecting the lighting. Please look at the attached image and see if the characters appear to be be part of the background image.

Working away on the current project. I rendered the sequence out as a series of TGA files to be composited over a cloud background. Then used a chor to composite them within AM. With this result, S6_Clouds.mov There are two moments when there are distinct movements which should not be there, frame 65 ( 02:15 ) being the first. Checked the new composite file and this was the result. There is a shadow behind the figure, I went back to the original, Which looked like this, Using the same files as for the AM composite, I then did it again in FCP and got no glitches, this is frame 65, Should add that, the original were rendere…

I thought I would post this in both the showcase and the compositing forum. I've been working on some effects shots for a short film (56 minutes) Using animation master to animate smoke and shell casings. Though certainly my implementation could probably be improved on it doesn't look bad compared to the relatively dead and inactive look of the shots without any compositing. The vietnam sequence consists of a about a 60 second firefight. -Ethan [attachmentid=18455]

So I had to recently do an illustration of an old computer for dayjob's corporate newsletter. For looks' sake, after hunting around for reference pics, I went with a Commodore PET (but with a CBM's keyboard--I wanted the Selectric-type keys). Modeling time was around 8ish hours (even though I might never use the model again, just in case, and for learning purposes, I modeled all the recesses for the holes in which the keys and tape drive are placed--I stopped short of modeling the back, however). This is what I came up with: Next, I played with various camera angles and rotations until I found the angle I was looking for. Since this was going to end up as a…

Hello all. It's amazing what great things happen on #hash3d, not only interesting conversations, great guffaws and of course now the monthly lectures But for me a couple weeks ago the idea for a "new" story came out of IRC. I don't want to give much a way but the 2 main characters are loosely based on 2 of our well known A:M ers. It will be an action adventure type story if all goes well. Hopefully through diligence on my part my skills will match up to my imagination and I can do the story justice.

Hi. I work for an A-V event production company that does lighting and sound for concerts. I wanted to see how it would work doing lighting previz in A:M, and try out my own ideas for shows. I tried to incorperate a few basic lighting styles, with plans to add more once I had a system worked out. I found that it is a lot of work and I need to work on setting up a good system for general light control. To control the lights I use a combination of poses, actions, and cho actions. I would preffer to have a library of premade actions, but that didn't always work. Anyways, here are some stills and a short animation of the work so far. C+C welcome. ,, The video …

Here are three large stills of a railroad bridge I'm building. railroad bridge WIP The fourth image is the magazine photo that inspired me. It's reinforced, poured concrete and I'm going for a look of being in service for about 50 years; used but not abused and rust coloured like in the photograph. It's over 600 ft. (190 m) long. You can get a sense of it's scale by comparing it to the red-checkered reference cylinders which are 6 ft. (1.8 m) tall. I've been working on these textures for some time and I'm beginning to lose perspective. I've started applying the decals to one end of the bridge and I'm asking for opinions before I continue. I'm sat…

It's been long and long since I posted anything -- heck, it's been awhile since I made anything . I have totally forgotten how to do the most simple of things within A:M, so this should be fun trying to get back in. But I'm really going to try to get back into it this time, and I thought what better way than to make my character from my friend's adventure. This character is named Connor. He is a twenty-four-year-old who looks no older than twelve. He has above average night vision, unusual strength for his size, and is skilled in martial arts. Since I'm not the greatest at drawing I decided to go with a sketchy look for my concept. I actually thought it tur…

Gonna use this as a dual thread of sorts. First of all I'm modeling that constitution refit that I had troubles with in the prop import thread. Second of all, I'm doing it in V17 and seeing how it runs. So first up, some pics and a quick benchmark! So here it is in V16 AO: 30% Global Ambience: 80% Occlusion: 95% Multi-Pass 16x 720p Render Time: 7:37 V17 Beta 5: AO: 30% Global Ambience: 80% Occlusion: 95% Multi-Pass 16x 720p Render Time: 6:09 Now you may see it there, there's noise over the saucer in the V17 one and it's the color of the background. This is apparent in both quick render and render to file and more apparent i…

Sorry all but its me again with more questions. The model I'm working with at the moment has a few short chains of bones in the hair and breasts with Dynamic Constraints to give it some "free" secondary motion as she moves. This motion is determined by A:M based on how fast the model moves in real time. Faster, more motion, slower less. Just like in the real world. To capture this motion for NetRender to use, a scene needs to have the Dynamics baked first. However when baking, A:M plays through the scene, making keyframes for the Dynamics as it goes, much slower than in realtime. And it is at this slower speed that A:M now calculates the amount of motion on an…

I have created a path in the chor and have tied a character to the path and then applied an walk action to the character. I have set the time of the action/walk. The time only goes 3/4 of the path. I have render the chor. My question is this, why does the character continue to move on the path with out the action the last 1/4? What I want is to apply another movement before the character moves on the path later in the chor. Steve

Well, I finally think I have a good reel version of my best stuff. I'm a little weary of the reel( but I always will be, its my nature ) As I've went through I've tried to go by these standard rules: Your reel should be no more than 3-4 minutes Mine is running a bit over, almost pushing five with the long holds for the title cards (the version here has shorter ones for a small file size to upload) I'm pondering if I should shorten the opening segment; though I feel its one of my strongest. Music and sound track is secondary. I have a full music track going though the whole demo. In my older ones it was just music on top of everything. This one I d…

So I re rendered on my main PC, taking 11 hours, 40 minutes, and 19 seconds. So total render time was 62 hours, 44 minutes, 56 seconds. Animation time was from RFS announcement of topic "Green" until February 18th on and off. Thanks, rate high folks and remember to share this video with your friends. The theme here, for me, was a sort of political cartoon in CG. It's title is Heaven's City Desk It's purpose was twofold... a tribute to my Uncle, George Murray, and a tribute to the fallen heroes of the "Fourth Estate" from last year. Well, I actually started making this project with Truespace 6. I am still in the middle of it but Animation Master is easy to model with and I am not having problems with system crashes as I did with TS Nurbs. The spline base form of modeling seems to work much like I expected TS Nurbs should have worked. They are not the same but I think some of the approaches to this project I could apply in TS too. If I cannot figure out how to do something in TS I can quickly make it in A.M. and export it. So far though, I have been able to model the B-36 in A. M. without any system crashes distracting me from my task. Mainly because I think this application is so well though…

Trying to follow up on Robert's suggestionI am using Cookie Cut decals for the first time, with mixed results and wondered what I might be doing wrong? This is a PNG of the decal used ( the original is tga ) This is the flat used to put the decal on and this is what happens when I render it. I looked on the forum and there was a suggestion that Multi pass had to be on for cookie cut to show but I'm getting the same result with multi pass on as well. Any help gratefully received. regards simon Cookie_Cut.prj

While awaiting a render I thought I'd try an idea for the car chase sequence. I've taken some low res targa photos of the lego houses and mapped them onto four patch planes to composite within the multi plane chor option. The question is, how do I get it to cut out the space were the windows are ? Heres an example of one of the files. Green_01.tga I cut out the spaces were the windows were and left it transparent in TGA format. When rendered it shows the gap as a flat white ? Is there a way around that ? regards simon Apologies here is a jpg version of the same file

I've never used a cookie-cut map before. But I need to use one on a model I'm making. This model has a whole bunch of these gears on it. With the gears, the model has an insane amount of patches. (15647 to be exact ) However, if I remove the gears, it is only 5567. So you can see why I have to do something else. My computer would burst into flames trying to render it in a scene. So, is there any pointers on cookie-cuts?
