Helping a buddy at work with a MMORPG; he needed a character artist so I did a quick test for him. Though I code all day now I loaded the latest version of A:M 04' up and cranked away... This render is with no materials or decals (just groups) The concept art My 12 hour attempt Hair and the body armor details (ammo pouches, radiator on the back, etc) are coming after some sleep and a stupid protocol problem at work gets resolved. Hope you like! ~Delaney {the video is DivX; sorry mac people}

*Project discontinued-see reasons below* Another A:M user and myself will shortly be working on the creation of a short film in A:M. This thread will cover its progression. The first thing will be some concepts/designs. Attached is a simple concept of a scene from the film. We'll release more details as the film progresses. Brian

In light of my coming in 4th for this month's image contest here is the link to a full body turn that I did a couple of weeks ago to see how the model was coming. On this version there was still some texturing to do but you can see a lot of the details. R2 Body Turn (2mb) Here's an early animation I did featuring 2-3-2 conversion. I know the movemtn is jerky bit I just wanted to see how things looked at the time. R2 2-3-2(2mb) Feel free to leave your C&Cs.

Ones this projected started out by trying to find a way to do fast and fun animations. The character(s) had to be as easy as possible to animate. Why not use one cell - a one celled organism - the ones who started life on earth. I Googled on it and found: http://www.4to40.com/earth/geography/index...orldunderwater2 And they seemed to have some sexual life too: When the animal wants to have young, it simply splits into two, and each part goes its own way. And they were also dangerous some of them: Some of these flagellate animals can be a nuisance and may even be dangerous. Well they looked a bit like human beings our first ancestors: Some fl…

I am trying to make this goat sort of cartoony, more of a charicature. There is something off about it but I can't put my finger on it. He looks more like an impala or something. What is about him that looks un-goatlike? How can I make him more goatish?

Your basic small, glass, Coke bottle. I found that I could noticeably reduce render times by separating the bottle surface into two groups, external and internal. I applied the same material to both groups but I modified the internal material instance by turning off its reflections. Even with a two reflection bounce limit it still made a difference.

Well, I actually started making this project with Truespace 6. I am still in the middle of it but Animation Master is easy to model with and I am not having problems with system crashes as I did with TS Nurbs. The spline base form of modeling seems to work much like I expected TS Nurbs should have worked. They are not the same but I think some of the approaches to this project I could apply in TS too. If I cannot figure out how to do something in TS I can quickly make it in A.M. and export it. So far though, I have been able to model the B-36 in A. M. without any system crashes distracting me from my task. Mainly because I think this application is so well though…

Hey there all, I just started using A:M back in June at the college I go to and I've love it. This was the first model (first anything really) I attempted in 3D. It's not 100% accurate to the real thing but close enough for my liking and first model attempt. As the topic name states its the Liger Zero from the anime Zoids. http://www.cross-firemedia.com/hash/liger0.jpg (toon, no shadows) http://www.cross-firemedia.com/hash/liger0_shwire.jpg (shaded/wireframe) http://www.cross-firemedia.com/hash/liger0_wire.jpg (wireframe) -Adam

After several weeks of work, I (with some helpful input from Dushan, my roomie) have finally completed and entered my commercial entry for the Heinz "Top This" challenge. It is done, and I am very satisfied. The music/sound-effects are a combo of stuff supplied by Heinz for the contest, as well as public domain bits, and my own home-grown effects. *whew* You all can view the entry on youtube at... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pj2OMLr0xQ It took remarkably less time than I had intended, as I had blocked out ~2 months for pre-production etc. Wish me luck! I have seen the other entries and I think this really has a shot at the grand prize. (Hopefully …

Hey all, I still haven't talked to Martin about this issue, but I figure that I'd switch around some obvious things, if for nothing else than to have a little fun! Here's the corny story I came up with: Cameron Keene, part-time marine, was enlisted by the shadowy group Nightrun Inc. to be the soldier inside their latest covert program, Project Brimstone. Reluctantly, Keene agreed and found himself in the laboratory of Dr. Walter A. Buchanon (later to be his the Keene's evil nemesis Dr. Canon ) being hooked to a rugged suit of armor loaded with every kind of fire arm possible. Wires extruded from his body, sensors monitored his vital organs and soon he bec…

Merry Christmas, everyone! I took a shot at creating an animated Christmas card. Wish it'd occurred to me to do it sooner, but somehow I was able to finish it in time. I did have to cheat a bunch (which included using no multi-pass or shadows in rendering and a lot of tomfoolering in Flash and Photoshop.) Anyways, I thought I'd share it with you guys, too! I've never worked on a model that i've hated until now. I never want to make another of these or anything similar to this any time soon. I don't mind tedious work, its the needless redundancy that got me. For some reason, the normals wouldn't stand still, they kept flipping on me in random directions. Every time I reopened the file. . . flip! Rotated the object. . . flip! flip one set of normals, another set flipped. GRRRRR!!!! maybe its just my machine, or the version of AM I'm Running or my use of 5 point patches. . . I don't know. anyway, i've attached the project file incase anyone else would ever need a storm drain cover. My pain is your gain. . . irongratepr…

there he comes... finally... the first of maybe a few shorts of "RUBBERGUY - TRAINING LESSONS FOR UPCOMING SUPERHEROES" (i know i forgot the "e" in heroes in the trailerscreen, will be fixed...) the idea was to make a squetch-rigged character (my first one with that rig so far) that can extremely bend (that´s his superpower ). i always wanted to make that kind of squetchy moves but never knew how to make that until i found the squetch-rig, thanks to all the guys who were involved developing it. then i remembered the sportgoofy-clips where goofy does different sport-disciplines and sucks at all. and i thought: "hey, why don´t you do that sort of thing with your chara…

I just recently bought a 2004 Honda Rebel 250 motorcycle. Sold my Yamaha Vino 125 scooter and am now riding the Rebel. I started modelling the bike for three reasons. The first, is that I am learning how the darned thing is actually put together. The second is that come the winter months, I want to repaint it to make it more visible and distinctive. I also want to try any modifications to the bike first on a 3D model before implementing it on the real thing. So, I am modelling it from the ground up, which is satisfying the first reason for modelling the bike. The 34 Ford I was working on is going to have to wait a while until this project is done. C&am…

I have been trying to understand rigging and animation lately so I have not done any new modeling aside from some tweaking to previous models. So I decided to play around and came up with this. Has anyone here had one of their models converted to a physical object using a 3D printer? William posted a while back about doing that: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showt...&hl=printer If he's converted some of your models, let's see the result. I was in talks with him, but he never got back to me after we started discussing details.

If anyone has payed attention or if ive forgotten to mention the past two years i have made a video for our Thanksgiving Carpetball tournament. Each year it has improved immensly and each year i think i wont be able to out-do myself. But i have once again. I have modeled all the people that will be in the tournament to be involved in the video. I am not the best realistic modeller but i pulled off a neat cartoonish look for everyone. With a few modifications and different outfits and hairdo's i say this turned out pretty awesome. I have also [using the 2001 skeleton rig] rigged all 20 something people. Everything has been done by me and none others . Here a…

I decided to start another animation project. I am basing this off a bunch of minor projects I have done in the past. I will be adding my piano model to some of them and adding some sweet camera angles and shots... Here are a few test frames: Render time is going to be murder! Most scenes have AO (the desert scene etc) and I managed to optimize those to keep them under 20 minutes a frame. The pool scene I took AO out so I could render faster (about 2 hours a frame with AO!!) Most shots are down under 20 minutes a frame now. I have plans to hopefully finish this comletly including rendering in the next 2 weeks to enter in a contest at my s…

I normally don't do this, but I think if I post how I go through the different processes of making a render, I think I can actually finish an entire scene for once. Last night I had a crazy vision of some lost and forgotten tricycle sitting outside of an abandoned grocery store. There were lots of earthen tones and bright white lights. I just drew up an image of what I saw, and I intend to make the whole scene in animation master! Here's what I have so far: I plan on coloring this image to get a better target for contrast in the image I have this delusion of rendering out the whole scene in radisoity, but I need to try and suppress that in order to actua…

i wanted to use the null shader to render a depth map for adding DOF in post. the problem is that the null shader does not do what it´s supposed to... the null shader should overwrite all decals and materials, right? the only thing it does for me is rendering everything a lot darker. i was able to render a good usable depth map by removing all the materials and decals, disable all lights and placing a material effector with a gradient from white to black in the focus area. this way it´s pretty easy to animate the focus... for testrenders it was ok to make an extra version of the project and remove all decals and materials manually from the few models... but if i imagi…
