Is there no forum for finished works anymore? Does everything just go to A:M Stills and A:M Films now? If so, where would be the best place to post that something is finished so that folks will check it out? Here? Or are people just posting finished works in the WIP forum now? Richard

I'm working on a 5-minute short, and here's a look at one of my characters. I'm still revising the decaling and some of the splinage, but this is a very rough idea of where I'm going. He is composited with a real-life background, as he will be in the short. In the picture above he has on a t-shirt (better decal to come later) in an unsuccessful attempt to cover up his "property of" stencil. The short is about a couple of sandbags who run away from their jobs (keeping the NYC subways from flooding) and come out to California. Here they are back in NYC (in a B&W flashback): All comments and suggestions welcome! -Vance

First, where are these posted? I must be overlooking them, as the only reason I started playing with this was because I saw other peoples WIPs.. so I'm assumeing there is an image contest with a theme of Toys.. So, what easier way to get involved then with the most primative (pun intended) toy I could think of.. Edit: Yeah.. I need to make the rings fatter..

Some hints from the experts here please! I need to achieve a look similar to this picture. What would be the best way to come near. Painted textures? special shaders ( I heard I would need fresnellshader for this??) ? What kind of lighting? Post production? Any advises how to start experimenting? Thank you Jake

Hello! I am very new to a:m. I'm using A:M 2001, 8.5p+ and i'm trying to create spheres. i understand the concept and everything is going ok, except my half-circle, that i'm going to lathe into the sphere looks a bit jagged, not perfectly curved. the odd thing is, if i close the project & reopen it, it then looks fine. so, i create my sphere. so far so good. if i look at it in shaded mode, it no longer looks perfect, nor does it in wireframe any longer either, unless i save, close, and reopen the project. anyone know why this is happening or how to get around it? thanks!

I'm starting to model an alien head for an avatar on the has forums...The part I'm stuck on is putting a mouth on him that will actually have a tongue and teeth inside. And also I'm having trouble figuring out how to put eyes in....I've read tuturials on the has "tuturial resources, but nothing ever works for me...to help me, you might want the wireframe, so I'll post that up after this one:

I've posted on this twice before and also put in a Hash/reports request, but so far the problem persists for me. Since I am not getting any feedback other than that the problem is resolved (this from Hash/reports as of V.14 - it is not resolved for me on any version up to V.15a), I am posting this again in hopes of finding my sanity and getting satisfaction in knowing that this is not only in my head. It doesn't matter which tileable image I use for the bitmapPlus material, the problem is the same. When I add a displacement value to the material and apply it to a group in any model, that goup become invisible in quick and final render. Sometimes it gets worse…

For those of you who remember this fondly, check out the new version- it's rendered bigger and with better textures... For those of you who've never heard of it, check it out, done in AM 7.x and pretty funny. http://www.jefflew.com/videos.html Disregard this if it's already been posted.

After I posted the two troopers and the tank, I was very pleased at how many people remembered Vaughn Bode'. As I've been working at getting the troops to walk [it's actually going rather well] I've had Bode' on my mind, and so, started digging out all the old comics from the vault. Here's a shot at Bode's star character: CHEECH WIZARD.[attachmentid=14551]

Using the little Mignola demon faerie, I have an eight-frame wingbeat cycle. I'm trying to build an Action in which he arches his back [chest out] stretches his arms out to the side, brings them front and claps his hands twice. Then drop into the 'ready-set-go' runners position. I want the wing cycle to happen sporadically as part of the warm up...but can't find a way to dupe the keyframes as a group. [in previous apps., I could Select>Alt>and drag copies] You'll see in the timeline where I duped the action one keyframe, one channel at a time. But is there a faster way? Second, when I paste the new keyframe in, it inserts a keyframe in every channel. Then …

This is a test animation of the P51-D Mustang I built for Exercise 10. I wanted to see how the propellors would look spinning as well as play around a bit with the motion blur. The movement of the plane is not quite as smooth as I would like (still need lots of practice). The third plane moves a bit too fast when it dives. I have posted the model for download in the Exercise 10 post (it is down a ways on the page). Feel free to use it however you like. http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showt...3215&st=120 C&C always welcome... Thanks... Al [attachmentid=21254] P51Mustang.mov

I wanted to try out the new rig on Shaggy. The rig works very nicely, I made an extensive use of IK FK switching, and it's IK FK OK friendly. The hand rig is great. I picked up the 11second club sound file, and I have put many hours since. Shaggys.mov Michel

I always liked the cut-out style animation like used on Nickelodeon's "Blue's Clues". I really liked how it was used in "Olive the Other Reindeer" which mixed 2D and 3D. I don't really know a lot of the 2D apps and the ones I tried, I always had problems with something. So I thought I'd try it in A:M. because that's what I know. The ease of modeling, texturing, rigging, and muscle mode, all made it go so fast and easy. Here is a little test I did in just a few hours last night. (The character design is from a children's book) 7 layers (pupils, eyes, head, teeth, arms, body, leg1, leg2) - all flat objects 2Dtest.mov

Hi Gang! I've been pretty quiet around here of late, partly due to this project I've been working on. Animation Master performed beautifully through the duration as usual. Comments are welcome! They will go on the outer packaging of a line of winter toys this winter both in the states and abroad. Snowman, SnowDino, and Snowbear. This is just the characters themselves not the packaging of course. I may be able to post that later actually. Enjoy! -Ethan

Thought I would make a character that I can put in lots of personality. Im thinking of rigging both eyes together as a head, stems of the eyes as a neck and the 2nd back bone might actually be just above the mouth region, should be kind of interesting. Of course lots of exaggerated mouth poses. Not sure on what color and texture I should use yet.. suggestions always welcomed.

This is a bot I modeled based on a friend of mine's illustration. You can see the original drawing here. Considering that I did it only from that drawing I'm pretty pleased with the way it's turning out. I still have a little more shading to do but I hope you like.

Last night I put together a short [18 sec.] Choreo of spheres/planets moving around each other. Simple in the extreme. But when I try to render it [at 400x225_final qual.] it does fine until it hits Frame 15 [3%] and stops. The Elapsed Time counter starts off at about 18 minutes remaining and counts down to about 16 until lock-up. Then it starts to increase in time remaining. Last night I was surprised to see that it was saying 4 hours to complete. I decided to ignore it and do something else. When I came back, it was still at 3%, but said 30+ hours to complete. When I hit the Abort button I get the Vista blue-spinning circle...forever. You can't access menus let alone sh…

Well I felt like I needed to post a WIP, just to show that Im actually working on something, LOL, not just visiting the forum, A crawdad-ish model I modeled for no reason other than to get back to it. I also wanted to learn to combine Materials and Decals together (I used 3D painter for the decals) I personally like seeing models showcased within an animation thats why the Mov file with the model with some movement (just quickly done in an action). It appx 13mb. Well I'm back to texturing...... Crawdad_Cam1_TestAnim1.mov

So, I'm kinda fiddling around with some stuff working on this concept of a project, and what I'm working with is fire, namely my hands on fire. The hand model I'm using is the one that came on the Extras CD, so it doesn't exactly fit my hand, but it helps some, but a real hand model that fits may be in order, but yeah: shot1.mov

Hi all. Ive just started work on a simple boat to keep me busy with A:M. Any comments, critisims etc will be appreciated and ill post up more progress. Im hoping to finish up with a good scene of the boat on water (like a lake or something) with some land in the background. Expect some questions along the way My texturing isn't great and i haven't made any landscape before. Anyway, heres the very simple model so far, no textures and still needs some (mabe a lot of )tweaking. I will be adding more detail later on. It's not much at the moment but i think i might be able to make it into a quite good scene.

I'm not going to say it's anything special, but it sure as hell is fun. I was playing around with it at work (shh don't tell my boss) and here is something I came up with. Tried to go for a eerie flourescant look. Ambient Occlusion is using a greenish color with a light blue klieg light focusing on the subject. The room is not really a room, but more like two intersecting planes.

Well, I just spent the last hour in my burning hot room slaving over Animation Master and got the following: Rollian Fight Scene -Just click the Fight Scene movie. The clip is seven seconds long, not bad for an hour of work . Ok, most people will comment about the flying sword , but I didn't plan out the rig right so when the hand moves, the sword moves , oops . Enjoy and let me know what I might do to fix any problems.

I'm working on a web site for a gentlemen that carves wooden Santa characatures and he wanted an animated Santa that would dance to "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" and I told him "I can use one of your carved santas" (perfect job for A.M.) So I took a digital picture of one of his carved Santas and mapped it to a grid (billboard) and added a simple skeleton and proceeded to make him groove - including a "bowl-full-of-jelly" laugh just 30 frames and I'm pretty happy with the results (It looks like one of his wooden sculptures dancing!) My problem is I'm trying to get him rendered on a (pure 255,255,255) white background (without any sort of gradient) and WITH a s…

When I bought AM and saw the cool Chewbacca model (great job whoever did that), it reminded me of something I've always wanted to see: Chewie playing some chess and ripping some poor sap's arms off. I know, not terribly original, but I still want to do it. So of course, my next step was to build an opponent. And who better than the greatest rebel pilot who ever lived, the TRUE hero of the rebellion (not that twiggy blond brat, somebody hand him a samich!), a real man who doesn't eject when the going gets tough....PORKINS! Actually, as an aside here, I was very sad when William Hootkins died not too long ago, and was really weirded out too, as there's a good chance…
