I had some spare time on my hands, so I decided to practice some animation. This is the first animation I've cranked out in a while. C & C welcome. dodgeball1.mov

Take 1 computer game model, scoop out its head, chop off an A:M model's head, stuff it in the helmet, put a pose slider on the visor, and... You can make something like this, too: (why you'd want to, I don't know.)

This is a screenshot from an animated film I'm doing that will end up being around 9 minutes. It will be 3D with some 2D painted backgrounds, compositing, etc. This screenshot was largely from a 20 second test of my character, constraints, etc. etc. She comes up with the music box lid, and then dances around in a little repeated ballet move. The key turns, and her feet come off the pivot sometimes but that's intentional, because she's a character, not a doll. I'm quite happy with it so far, still tweaking (in between writing grant applications). Thanks to Vash, Colin, Josh, Vern and a bunch of other people I don't know. Sean

Playing with Wegg's skin material and Yves' skin shader is giving pretty good results so far. This is with the standard chor lighting which I will play with next. The render times and memory usage is still a concern (52 minutes/frame) if I want to use this combination for an animation but it looks much better than my attempts at skin materials. Yes, I know, she has no hair. This is a skin experiment.

This is a character for yep you guessed it...a personal project that will take me the rest of my lifetime to finish. This is the second attempt at a human head I have made (the first was lost due to computer crash and having no burner). Hasn't been textured or anything (except a bump effect to sit in for the fleshy vibe). Due to the quality of the jpg I have just realized there is slight banding on the profile please disregard as this is not on the TGA. Thanks. Critique away. J p.s. the main reason for this post is because I usually make a vow on art forums NOT to critique someone elses work until I post something for others to critique of mine. …

Here is a minute and a half short I made a few years back. I recently re-rendered it at a better resolution and added some original music that i put together in GPO. The animation is pretty simple, but that's what I was going for! Phil's Gun Animation - Quicktime - Mp4 codec

Hello everyone, I decided to post my Goblin WIP. I'm generally pretty pleased with the head model (despite a few required touch-ups.) But I've been having trouble getting the skin texture to look just right. The skin was all done procedurally (save for one bump map.) Please let me know what you all think. And any suggestions or critizisms are welcome. I'd like to get the skin tone right. ~Danno

Here are some pics of the Batmobile model I've been working on... It's a little rough, but I've been doing my best. I think the metal the car is made of doesn't look right. Any tips on how I can make the metal look right & that makes it look to much CG?

I've been working on a face-criticism with proportion is needed because I've been working without a rotoscope or a tutorial. Small crease points may be dense and random becuase of stray and largly cross sectioned splines. Wireframe and shaded are posted conglomerously. gif.bmp

Hey there. I am new... So, please excuse dumb questions. Here is my head model. The head on the left has a diffuse decal over the face, the other one does not. (See attached picture) Short of applying the diffuse map to the entire body, how do I smooth this transition? Just smooth the diffuse map out at the corners? What are shaders? Would that help? Any other general comments? This is my first try... I guess after this I a rig her? b pose her? c bone her? d attach to a body that is boned or not. Help - I would eventually like to animate her. Sorry for the newbie questions. Melissa

There are many instances in a model, when you could simply stick one object into another to make it look like they are one. Take, for example, a wrought iron fence, or a lever sticking out of a machine. Another good example, intersecting pipes. When would you have to join the CP's and when could you get away with the cheat?

They are hosting a permanent forum for the short film. http://www.campbellanimation.com/ We've been talking about BVH Mo-Cap down in the 'reusable motion' forum, and inspired by Zach Brewster-Geisz and Colin Freeman's cool animations and guided by Will Sutton's motion capture tutorial I was able to browse free BVH files thru bvhfiles.com via their 'BVHplayer utility' , import it into A:M and constrain it to my TSM2 rigged character. My character (Gurly Girl) also has long V11 hair so the effect of the hair on the real motion is...I think...pretty cool. But then, I like bus fumes too. If you were to mix MoCAP and hand animation... whooaaa! Have a look...give me some feedback...bad or good...I can take it...just …

Wookie Dance This just uses the same .bvh mocap ZachBG posted in the resuable motion forum. Since it worked with 2001 skeletons I just had to try it out on the wookie. It's not perfect (the arm passes through his face/body a couple times) but this is about the best I've been able to get hair to render in an animation. Plus a wookie dancing to some MJ is just plain funny. Kevin

Hey all, I finally finished another character. I don't got a name for it YET but I was hoping maybe one of you can come up with a cool name . Anyway here it is: Took me about half a day to model, texture and completely rig it. Now for the fun part! Animating! I wanted to make a simple character to practice my animation skills and this is it. Now I was hoping you all could give me at least one thing to do with him . So far I got: Pushing a box (make it so that it looks like he is struggling to push it) and jumping off a building. Thats it . Now I could think of probably a few more but I thought it would be cool if everyone could tell me what to animate wit…

Some post effects were done in DogWaffle (I over did it a bit I think) and there are obviously other things to correct but I thought I'd post to show we are actually doing some work on this pilot film Haunted House movie

I'm working on a web site for a gentlemen that carves wooden Santa characatures and he wanted an animated Santa that would dance to "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" and I told him "I can use one of your carved santas" (perfect job for A.M.) So I took a digital picture of one of his carved Santas and mapped it to a grid (billboard) and added a simple skeleton and proceeded to make him groove - including a "bowl-full-of-jelly" laugh just 30 frames and I'm pretty happy with the results (It looks like one of his wooden sculptures dancing!) My problem is I'm trying to get him rendered on a (pure 255,255,255) white background (without any sort of gradient) and WITH a s…
