I am currently working on Bender from Futurama. I am still very new to AM and don't know much about complicated modeling. Which is why I started with Bender, he's mainly lathes and extrudes. What I need help on is his feet (I have figured out all of my other questions). The issue Im having with his feet is that when I try to put a surface over the bottoms it warps the rest of the foot-cup (pic 2 below). I have tried extruding the bottom circle and then making it smaller, but that makes "smooth" lines which bows out the bottom of the foot. Any help would be much appreciated

Hi, The Battleship model needed to be 'special' and I’m not the best at creating neat space ships so the sketch below and model are loosely based on a ship I saw a while back in either Doom or Quake (great sources for that kind of thing). After the screen test I could see some of the texturing needed work but I wanted to get it out for comments. Hi, This is a video I made for my church. It features my pastor, Brian, and his secretary and some standard models from the A:M CD. It was supposed to be shown during a service about overcoming fear. However, when we previewed it on the big screen in the church, there was a very little girl in the audience who ran out screaming when she saw the knight running...so it did not get shown that day. Hopefully it'll appear at another time. Not the greatest synching in the world, I know, animation wise, but I sort of like it... This has been on the shelf for a while, so I thought I'd dust it off and work on some improvements. Might incorporate it in an entry for the September image contest. So far this design is far too mechanical. I want to modify it quite a bit to give it a more "organic"--and menacing--look. Any suggestions will be quite welcome. The really interesting challange will be to rig it for animation. Any suggestions for that will also be quite welcome. It is basically a "boneless" anatomy according to the novel, so it will probably look best if it can move much like a squid's tentacles or an elephant's trunk. I'm starting to model an alien head for an avatar on the has forums...The part I'm stuck on is putting a mouth on him that will actually have a tongue and teeth inside. And also I'm having trouble figuring out how to put eyes in....I've read tuturials on the has "tuturial resources, but nothing ever works for me...to help me, you might want the wireframe, so I'll post that up after this one:

This model intermittently has good cookie cutter eyelashes just not on every render. Usually if I go to the decal section and change the decal to color and then back to cookie cutter it seems to work again. I'm using 12i. Any suggestions? Thanks

FRIDAY: This was my contest entry in the Anzovin's modeling contest this summer, and it took 2nd place in the Centaur categorie. Today I was tinkering with TSM2 and thought 'hey- I'll rig that centaur model'...so this is the result of 2 hrs rigging, 1 hour animating and an afternoon D1 render. There are NO cogs,intermediary bones or smartskins yet. We havent seen too many 'alternative' models rigged with the new TSM2 so I thought I'd post it. MONDAY:RErendered over weekend, the reflections appeared after restarting A:M and reloading the project, I also turned on the motion blur (multi-pass) for this test. 176 views over the weekend! Looks like I landed another animation/automation project. This new one is for a $500K Automation project. The company doing the proposal is having a hard time conveying the concept to the customer (that's where I come in). I'll animate the proposed line. Wish me luck, I'm goin in. David

made another 1.98 model this time of a rabbit and did a quick action combined with some chor action which I recorded with a black background with the alpha buffer turned on to get a series of tgas use the series as the sprite image this is the results ... bunnyanimated.mov Not really great but at least the animated sprites worked

Well I have always liked airplanes. Military planes by far being my favorite. And growing up with my dad telling me stories about the F4 phantoms from Vietnam, I knew one day I would build one. Anyway here is an early screen shot of the model. I have about 3 hours into the project and I'm starting to see potential. Hope you guys enjoy.

Howdy. I took some mocap data I got from a reputable source and put Shaggy on it. And Shaggy said to me, "Zach, man, I love this motion and all, but GEEZ is it COLD in this computer!" So I gave him a shirt. I think it turned out nice--there are some penetration issues at this point toward the end, and it fails completely when Shaggy actually penetrates himself and leaves the cloth with nowhere to go. More experimentation is in order. Next up--PANTS! ShaggiZachTwo.mov

Funny story behind this. So I am taking a 3D Animation course at the college I am going to, and the program we are using is Cinema 4D. We are doing a bouncing ball project, and I decided to do it in the program I am familiar with as well as C4D. I will compare the two when I am done and upload a comparison video if I see fit. Some very dear friends of mine are getting married this Saturday and they asked me to produce a special video to be played during the ceremony. I gladly accepted and decided to offer it as my gift to them. I had previously requested help on this, and thanks to all the assistance, here is the final version. I've been looking for a model of a panda bear for a website project. Anyone have one they'd be willing to let me use? I thought there was one on the A:M disc, but I can't find it, and the old "Panda on Fire" project isn't up on the FTP mirror anymore. Well, I am hard at work on the next segment of my 'Bella Bear' Saga which involves the alien character. So I thought I would show him to you. He (it?) was originally modeled ages ago, but I have only just rigged and textured him - might have OD'ed on the spots... I thought I would try a bit of GI and Ambient Occlusion on him but it still looks a bit flat - not to good at that sort of stuff (yet). Anyway here he is, comments welcome and expected

After a long and bad time, of no job, no money and almost no perspective, i finaly have a new client, who confronted me with an quite unusual task. This guy is doing "bouncy castles" and he needs someone who designs this stuff and is doing the layouts for the final cutting forms, which are used to assemble that stuff in the end. My first job for him was to design some "cosmetics" for an large construction, called "Multi Tower". Its a constuction where kids can play, climb and do some trampolin jumping. When they finished that thing, they found, that it looks like everything else, but not like something to play with. Since the cost of this baby is somewhere around 70 000…

Hey- Meet Harriet. Good Side: V 11's hair modelling tools are quite nice, and I love the way they react to your characters motion...I'm having fun and look forward to rigging Harriet with TSM and the new CP weights... Bad Side: This model keeps crashing the renderer. On this test I was lucky to get 69 frames rendered, but it was a 150 frame chor. I set it to render overnight, usually, and come in to see A:M has crashed. Today I came in and saw it had crashed so I figured maybe I should download the latest version, 11E. So I did, and then went to open this project. Crash. So I uninstalled v11 and cleaned out the registry. Reinstalled, open proj-crash, open model-…

Thought I'd show how last weeks test ended-up. No matter what I did I had anomolies in the floor from the klieg lights I constrained for headlights si I rendered it without lights and without floor reflections separately and half mixxed the two in AfterEffects. Thought I would put it in the 'showcase' section because I am DONE tweeking on it. This clip shows Miss D. interacting with the car, with V11 hair, dynamics, smoke via streaks which I could NOT get to get any bigger, and distortion/box poses on the car. The animation was rendered at D1 30fps but I have to shrink it to 400X270 12 fps with LOTS of Sorenson Compression to get it under 1 mb. takeoff.mov

I dug up an old shot from a project that eventually moved production overseas. It was only half finished but I liked where it was going (though the director disagreed). Anyway, I wanted to take it to completion. It'll give me a chance to get up to speed on the post 8.5 interface since the last big production I worked on (Day Off the Dead) was all 8.5. I'm making an animation of a bacteriophage attacking a cell for biology. At one point, the cell's nucleus needs to start spewing "baby" bacteriophages. I've tried, but I can't seem to get a flock to work. Every time I try, the swarm/birds flock just sits there and doesn't display any models. I was wondering if anyone here could help? I need to finish it by tomorrow morning. I'm including the model and a clip. If you're messing with the model, open the Cell model, select the "For Hiding" group, and press Hide. This will hide the front of the cell so you can see what you're doing. In the final animation, the front of the cell becomes transparent as the bacteriophage lands. …

Inspired by Mark's impressive re-creation of the "Rear Window" set, I've started experimenting with using BitmapPlus for building bricks and shingles. In an attempt to add more variation to the bricks I added three materials with three different decals and set their visibilities so each one only shows up one-third of the time. Worked like a charm. Then I ran the same play with three bump decals. This time only the first decal is visible, no matter what the other two material's parameters are. There's an easy work around (live with one texture) but I'm curious if there's something I'm missing.

Okay people... here's my dilemma(s)..... 1) I can't grasp the whole "decal" thing at all. Just don't get it. Is there any straight forward tutorial that shows a complete idiot how to do it from scratch? 2) I would love to show you my recent work in the WIP room, but I am not sure of which format to use, nor am I sure how to save just the MODEL and not the whole project....
