I did this earlier in the summer but never thought to post it. It's a concept chess game that introduces the idea of fog of war. In this version you use a single GBA to play a mutiplayer game (sorry, no AI). http://www.gsddevelopment.com/chessplusplus_final.gba To run it you have to have a GBA emulator... http://www.gsddevelopment.com/VisualBoyAdvance.exe From "gee, let's do a GBA game" and knowing nothing about the hardware to completion took six weeks with only 2 guys working on the whole thing. I did all the art, design and voice acting (yes, even the women).

I have modeled a bicycle card and the main reason I did such a simple model is because I want to study the physics of true animation. So, what you'll see below is an animation of a card fluttering down to the ground (hard to see where the ground is, but the card hits the ground at the end). Critiques would be much appreciated... (Note: Due to angelfire privacy, you must right click on the link, hit properties and copy the full address in the box. Then push ok and paste the address in the address bar) Card Flutter test

I could make a tut but its too late tonight here is a $1.98 sample done in v13 [attachmentid=15488] I used a pose to turn a cookie cutter map on by changing it from color at 0% to Cookie cutter at 100% The displacemnt and color map by changing the 100% of image from 0% to 100% Turned on the hair material emitter length from 0% to 100% All this with one on/off pose [attachmentid=15489] Could post a simple on/of color decal tut maybe later if there is interest or if Gene wants too . Talk about getting sidetracked. I was working on the dashboard for my '41 Plymouth when I had the thought that it would look more authentic with a key in the ignition. Then I realized that a single key would look a bit odd which led to more keys with different shapes on a ring and finally a fob. The keys have no teeth since I didn't want to further complicate the models and this lack of detail would unlikely be noticeable in typical shots of the car's interior. The large unassembled image was the test for the textures (all done with Enhance A:M combiners). Why is it relatively easy to make something look fresh-out-of-the-box new or rusty, dirty and decrepit but it ta…

Posted this topic in the Showcase last month but never really got any replies... Does anyone have any tips on the kind of Cloth simulation I need to do for large cape animation. Go to my Batman page I have Tests on Cape Animation there & so far that's the best I can get. Alienfilms.net/Batman/ The Cape has a low patch count. Should the patch count be higher, or would that help at all? It ether looks to heavy, to light or to stiff... I'm using A:M 8.5 but plan on getting 10.5 pretty soon. If anyone has any tips I'm all ears. Thanks! Edit: Added Link

hello everyone, i can't believe how simple it is to animate the face with a setup like the one jason osipa sets up in "stop staring". i know this isn't pixar quality, but it is definitely the my best attempt so far at lip synch and this is only the second pass. i haven't touched anything but the lips and jaw, still need to rig the rest of the face....got a bit tired of rigging and wanted to play. anyway here it is (628Kb Sorenson3 Quicktime): LipSynch WIP please.....all critiques are welcome! thanks, dieter

Here are 3 images of a crash case we are working on. It is supposed to be a night scene. We use volumetric lights on the vehicles because it helps indicate the lights are shining. There are also non-volumetric lights to illuminate the road. My question is: How do you eliminate the banding visible at the point of emission? From the head on view (bottom picture) it looks great. (head-on, bad pun ) We are using Volumetrics with Z buffered shadows for render considerations. There was another thread where someone recommended using geometry with transparency and roughness to simulate this type of thing. Any thoughts? Thanks in advanc…

Hi guys, finaly i get to put my first post on here , I have been using AM now For about 7-8 months on and off and thought or was given the idea rather that it would be a good idea to start posting my work up so i could recieve some constructive crit. This is really my first piece and is what i used to discover rigging and poses, modeling etc. Was very exciting for me and has driven me to go on and create other projects which i will soon post up. I finished this one a few weeks back now. I appolagise for the quality of the video, i had some trouble with rendering settings but ive done the best with what video i had, ive decided not to re-render for the moment as im u…

I've searched through the manuals looking for info on how to access Alpha Channels, but nobody says much more than it can be done. When I get the tanks going, I want several attack-choppers to sweep in shooting. I want motion blur on the rotors, but not in the whole scene. I figured to turn off everything in the scene, leaving only the turning blades, run the anim., then turn off the rotors, run again, and composite in Premier. But where do I go to get Alpha Channel mode?

A magazine I read is running a short film contest on Youtube - and so naturally I entered an animation (all the others are live action). Here's the problem. It seems that at least one other contestant is continually giving my animation 1 star to lower its rating. I would really appreciate anyone who could go to Youtube and give me a good star rating (the more the better) to counteract this. Here's the link to my video. Thanks to all.

Hello everyone, I decided to post my Goblin WIP. I'm generally pretty pleased with the head model (despite a few required touch-ups.) But I've been having trouble getting the skin texture to look just right. The skin was all done procedurally (save for one bump map.) Please let me know what you all think. And any suggestions or critizisms are welcome. I'd like to get the skin tone right. ~Danno

It's rare for one of my modeling brainwaves to work right out of the gate with no rethinks and no tweaks. But lightning does strike occasionally. The image shows the first test renders of a bump decal to simulate the look of a welded joint either butt or fillet. As is usual for me the decal started out as a spline model with a black to white gradient material applied. If anyone's interested I can make the model and material available.

Hi guys... just wanted to show something off which I and a friend (S. Rosenblatt) made with very short deathline (so some of the animations arent very good) for my UAS with A:M. It is a LiveAction + CG Video. It is about 20 MB in size and compressed with Divx 5 and WinRar. Enjoy: - Download - *Fuchur*

I've been fooling around with several cloud images on a hair material, basically trying to create a face model made of billowy, cloudy material. I have been rendering both in the modeling window and in a choreography and keep getting black "sooty" coloring along with some clouds. I have the transparency of my model set to 100%, so the only thing rendering is the hair material. I've messed around with properties til I've run out of ideas. Can someone point me in the direction to achieve what I trying for? Thanks.

Actually, it's supposed to look like that... I went through Colin's tutorial, but I used front and side rotoscopes of two different women, one chinese, one japanese. (I wanted her to look asian, but of indeterminate origin). The only thing I'm not quite happy with is the ears, other than that this model went swimmingly. I'm still kind of new to A:M, I've had it for a couple of years, but I've been too wrapped up with a couple of other programs to learn, so I still have a lot to study, but I'm looking forward to it.

Heigh-ho. In this thread, Noah Brewer describes a technique for blending two different scales of models into the same scene, so you can create, say, a pull-back from a close-up of a person out to the city which the person is in. I decided to try it out, and this was the result. http://www.hash.com/users/zachbg/cameramatch.mov Lady Goodbody is in a separate choreography from Shaggy and the background, and no scaling is done in either choreography. See Noah's post for details. Project file attached (uses characters from the 2005 CD). Lady_G_Runs.prj

I just finished a small presentation for the Wesley Mission. Their major symbol is the dove so I built a simple 3d dove as a unifying element. The project only had a two day turnaround, so I rendered it in realtime shaded mode and then used Mirage to add drop shadows. I also rendered the doves to load into Mirage's particle engine for the transitions. [attachmentid=18054] SOMVideo Unfortunately it's not streaming so it'll take a while to load (5mb), or you can right click and save the swf.

Hello, been a while, I recently used A:M to build a mockup of a networking proposal for a presentation in my networking protocols class. This was kind of a last minute thing which is why it's so unfinished. I don't really have a use for it since I'm done with that class so I figured I'd let 'yall have it. Background info: I used the models to go transparent to show the placement of the networking cables in the walls, it got a wow out of the class and a "overachiever" comment from a peer. total construction time: 4 days. machines used: Powermac G5 A:M v15, Xeon PC A:M v14. download: Office ~2.1MB a few images:

I've been tasked with creating several rooms. Here's my first room using AO. Before this project, I've never really used anything but normal lights (I've never used radiosity or AO before). One thing I notice is how grainy the whole thing looks, despite using some okay settings for sampling and passes. Also, it's very bright at the top, which sort of blows out the ceiling area and ceiling fan. I wasn't expecting that. I'm unsure how to make the lighting more even. Any thoughts on how to improve are welcome. Please keep in mind I'm brand-new to AO when you make suggestions. Settings: AO: on No radiosity. No real lights in the scene. ambiance intensi…

Hey folks... ive been trying all day to make these tambourines cymbals move dynamically with no success... any ideas?? each model has a master bone for animation, with child bones in each cymbal for movement i made a pose with a dynamic constraint for each of these, but they did not appear to animate as well as they should (heaps of intersections etc) would like to try a spring system or something to this effect, but i need assistance to make this happen any help would be greatly appreciated!
