Ok.... Those of you that were following the other thread, I thought I would post the results of all my spline tweaking. after I had fixed the arm, I had noticed that the leg was jacked up too, so I fixed that. There's still a *tiny* glitch at the back of the leg, but the clay shader mostly hides it. I have attached a couple screenshots, I think you will agree that it looks much much better. I was part of a trombone forum collaboration this year, the sort where everyone records their part individually and then it all gets edited together. Since we were playing a jazz arrangement of a Tchaikovsky piece I thought it would be cute to have him drop in at the very end and wink to the camera. It would work like this... (the bit of music in this demo is not our group, it's is previous recording of the piece) Alas, it didn't get used. But, of course it was done in A:M. I edited four versions of the painting... for the brow, the upper eyelid, the lower eyelid and the eyeball behind them. I added splines to outline the moving pa…

My first attempt at making a face. I already know of many issues with it, but this is about two hours of effort just to get this. I've learned a lot from this exercise, mostly how splines work and 5 point patches. I'm off to sleep for tonight, tomorrow I'll work on doing a set of shoulders/torso, and maybe another face.

Here's mine... Render and zipped file. Rename your original 'Default Chor.cho' file to something like 'Default Chor Old.cho'. Then place the Default Chor.cho from my zip file in your Hash Inc\V13.0 folder. I can create this for V12, but I am making this for the new Extra CD and V13 should be a done deal by then. EDIT: 8:30pm 02/16/2006, I updated the zip file... per Ken's suggestions, you can now drop a 7' character in the chor and it will be perfect. defaultchor_timelord.zip

i was inspired by bioshock to try and figure out how they make blood look so real. After a long time fumbling around with photoshop, to get a good looking liquid surface tension normal map, i think i got a fairly good result. The key though that I found out was blood doesn't have a white or red specular highlight, it's blue. Anyways, here's the results of my testing. BloodStain.zip BloodStain.mov

This is all The Black Mage's Fault.... He had to go and model that Moogle. Mogs make me think of Lulu... (and 'Kupo!') Hey gang, Thought I'd post this quick little job I did for the San Diego Future's Foundation upcoming fundraiser. The theme for the evening will be casino themed/Monte Carlo style. The money donated/raised goes to support the Futures Foundation, which takes old computers from corporations, refreshes them, installs new drives, OS, etc. then gives them to schools and families who can't afford computers. This image will be on their invitations. Greg

Hi. I got this software called VRHotwire that lets you add tracks to QT panos and cubics. It' like Livestage, I think , but cheaper and rougher around the edges. I made a virtual tour with a QT cubic as the main node. I added a sound track and a small animation done in A:M. Comments welcome. Look down to see the animation. Cubic I'd love to hear from someone with Livestage on how it is adding this kind of stuff, and if there is a way to minimze the speed loss when adding animations to cubics.

The attached QT file is a really rough walk cycle and is not shown to demonstrate how not to do it, even though you could probably use it for that purpose, but to demonstrate some strangeness to do with dynamic bones and particles in A:M 11.1g. This model has small dynamic chains in the shirt tails that hang below Woot's belt and collision detection is turned on. The first two paces are rendered with particles turned OFF so no hair is generated. The next two paces are rendered with particles turned ON and look what happens to the dynamic chains.

Hello, i am doing a cartoony animation at the moment. I am pretty happy with what i got so far, but there are still some things, which need to be sorted out. For example, i can not get the renderer to give me manga toon shading and shadows ... doh ... and i used square, flat elements, to decal my soundwords on them (since i have no sound, this is a must). But even set to cookie cut map, the give me these nasty edges, which i can not get rid of. No, it is not the picture file, having inconsistencys in the key colour, i doublechecked this! How do you like the crude style? Heiner

www.johnaretakis.com HEY- I recently finished a Flash website for a good friend and talented artist, John Aretakis. I am looking to show off my 'Flash-work' and get some feedback from my esteemed fellow Hasher's...who's opinions I respect. John is a mural painter, an art-deco neon electric sign maker, a graphic artist/illustrator, a 2D cel-animator and a 3D hash animator. He's looking to drum-up some work with this site... NEXT---it's high time I redo my own website... it just takes so dang long! I REALLY like the latest version of Flash though, there are some BIGTIME improvements. Anyway, the site is 95% done, so there are some 'dead-ends' here and th…

I was creating a ship awhile ago (the "Squid ship")..I hadn't finished texturing it or touching up the actions..but check this out...it's supposed to be a spaceship acting as a squid! Squid Push Note: to view you must right click>Save target As>save or Right click>Properties>Copy full address> Paste into address bar> hit go! What I did to achieve: I watch some vids of squids/octopuses and observed the movement and timing..I then took that information and put it into simpler terms (into a cartoony look ship)...If you notice, while the tentacles are going downward you see that they have a slight bend in them for the pressure of the wat…

Hello! Seniors at my high school are required to complete a project for a final grade. It is supposed to occupy over 15 hours of time to create and blah blah blah... I am choosing analogue photography. I plan on doing a video and I need some titles for each section. Here is the first one, it is for small tank developing: FilmDev_720_A_0.mov I made an 8 light skydome for the cheap AO effect. I used the AA render for the DOF too. I know the 35mm is totally lame looking but it is meant for illustrative purposes only. Photoman

Soap Opera
by ZachBG- 7 replies

Hi all: I finally got around to compressing the final version of Soap Opera. For those who don't know, it's a five-minute slice of Mozart's Don Giovanni performed by the denizens of a bathroom. "You'll never look at Pert Plus the same way again!" This version premiered at the D.C. Shorts Festival in September 2005. (I think, technically, it was first shown at the Hash SIGGRAPH party, but I won't tell D.C. Shorts if you don't.) Its next appearance will be at the Cleveland Film Festival this March. I wrote and animated it, Jeff Lee produced the music, and we both modeled it. Special thanks to David Rogers for an exhaustive lighting critique (which I trie…

As the required rite of passage for TWO, here's the lion and the door. Have spent the best part of a week chewing on the carpet just to get it to this point. It's been better, and it's been a lot worse. Adding Kinetic constraints always flips the hands 180 degrees. Keeping constraints on has been an exercise in frustration suppresion. Ah well, if I have to disgrace myself before the entire Hash community, let this be the day. LION_AT_THE_DOOR.zip

For a discussion on the trombone forum about how to have a convenient practice trombone small enough to play inside a car. I propose to chop the slide to have only 4 (rather than 7) positions and fold the unused portion back up the slide, so that the total length of the horn (and pitch) remain the same.

I've decided to try to condense everything I've learned into one short film. I took some screenshots of the project so far. I'm not done with the planning the animation yet. I've been teaching myself how to draw so hopefully I've gotten better. I'm not done with modeling the human character, as that's probably my weakest point. Please tell me what you think so far and what I could do to make it better.

Hi all, I remember a while ago some people mentioned a simplified figure drawing book (for people like me who can't draw detailed figures yet). I visited the website once and can't remember it now. It shows how to draw "fancy" stick figures for storyboarding purposes. Does anyone remember it? I think you buy the book direct from somewhere in northern CA if that helps. Thanks

Hi folks, here is a quick render of the cow model available for download... hosted by Ken Heslip. The post is in the main AM forum. The cow is constrained and ready to go with a walk cycle and a set up in a choreography. I used the set up machine 1 to rig it and added intermediates and fans and smartskin etc. Im not the best rigger around but if any of you Rig masters has the time to improve on it or re-rig it, I would love to see the results if you re-post the improved and updated model for folks to download again. OK sorry to be a pest.... I read the help file on this, I followed the directions but there must be something I'm missing because while I am getting the mirroed part that I want, it is not attaching. I am working in front view, its mirroring along the y-axis properly, but does not attach. I am grouping the left half of the body, then right click, choose CFA, and I get the mirrored part but it doesn't attach. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? Do I have to move the pivot? thanks in advance Roger
