well this isn't much for a start but at least it is a start...I'm still tweakin' up the end part when he stops after rollin' across the thing. I've never really modeled a good character before. I've had a script for awhile for a short I wanted to do, but never had an idea for a character. After seeing the incredibles, I had an idea what I wanted. I want to make a girl character something like Violet or Mirage (round heads smaller bodies). I don't have any real modeling experience with characters, so how should I go about making her?

I'm making a sci-fi scene and have run into some problems with a crystal that I can't explain. the first thing was the fact that I applied glow to it, and it worked fine the modeling window and had no glow in the choregraphy. But now the refraction has made color from the object inside fill the entire thing up and make it look solid. I have no idea what's goning on here. Here are some picture so you can see what I'm talking about.

Hi. I don't have problem with making faces or other object. When it came to making a car model I thought that would be dead easy as I have all my rotoscopes matching evenly. But when I get to Extruding Splines ( example the car wind screen) I find I cant get the splines that make up the part to spread or curve evenly. I cant post a WIP as I keep deleting and starting all over. Some were they has to be an example of a curved object made from a Rotoscope showing what to do as one extrudes from on edge to another. Most of the WIP on car modeling have models that are complete. I am sure that I am missing out something very subtle. After all I figured out how to get all …

Hi all! I love modeling/animating but I never finnish stuff because I come to a point where i realize I'm not good enugh with A:M. So what I ask is this: Say some easy stuff to make! OK, I have been away for a bit. I got out of doing video and started faceting gemstones in the basement (the computer is in the house - not so sure it is a trade up ). Well, never say never again. The new hobby started meeting the old one. So now I am working on a video about a faceters' meeting (Franklin Faceter's Frolic 3 if you must). Back to old reliable for doing covers and titles, A:M. My new hobby has a tool, GemCad for Windows, for doing design work on stones. And there are large libraries of stones around (including famous diamonds). I noticed that it will export dxf files. While driving on vacation last week I noticed a lot of clouds unfortunately some of them attempted to wash my car. Anyway I got this idea for a new cloud material from watching them. Here it is applied to a flat plane for now with a little animation added to the turb on the gradients. Did a real quick tutorial as promised http://johnl.inform.net/pages/simplenewton.swf.html set up two shapes as dynamic objects before settings for cartoony effect started tutorial sound gets a bit messy but my machine is old ( like me) set up last dynamic item set ground as static started simulation I think its about 3megs project below as it is before tutorial starts not sure how long I'll keep this up on site might redo without sound simplenewton.prj

Hey guys (and gals), I've been working hard at the grindstone modeling an NYPD Impala that transforms into voila, a Transformer. Convenient eh? I've been working hard to make sure it somewhat resembles an impala. The headlights and grill look a little funky, and every time I attempt to shrink it or adjust it, it only affects the hood and creates funky bends. Anyway, I'm building the internal gadgets as we speak, and expect to have a fully functioning knee joint by tomorrow. I only wish to have everything in one model so I can animate it without any unnecessary trickery. Sorry if the image quality is a bit crappy, I'm becoming impatient with the rendering time…

so...after discussion various cloud making methods for ages, i sat down for...4hours or so and ended up with these things thats 23 planes >_<, all with displacement maps. first one look pretty good, second attempt looks..dunno whats going on there. might be the position of the light..might have something to do with the toon shader (i just dont like normal render >_< ). thing took 26min to render so its kinda hard to figure out stuff like that.. ill try to render a small vid of it overnight.....hopefully ^^

ok i used a pose slider at zero the bullet is in the gun not visible. at 100 its way out there i ussually only set it at about 20 somthing to get the bullet shot where i need it. but anyways if i move the gun while the bullet is shooting the bullet moves along with it. how do i fix this? dang this is only 91kb Pose_slider_bullet.mov

Those of you who are familiar with my work know I'm not a render monkey--I love beautiful images as much as anybody, but I'm too impatient to wait for them (or to learn enough about lighting to make them). However, my recent Olympic vodcast got such a good response I decided to re-render the last shot, where Shaggy falls into an iced-over swimming pool. I used Image-Based Lighting for the general outdoor look, and decided to try soft reflections on the ice and see if it would look any good. Hot DAMN! I just purchased 1 seat of the Hash 2008 Web Subscription. I'm liking it so far, but I've always been a fan of A:M. Speaking of Fans.... here is something I've been working on over the last couple of days. The real tricky part was actually figuring out how to make a hole in the wall for the fan assembly. There are several ways to do this but I would like to give the Hash Forum community a couple chances to guess what technique I used before exposing my final solution.

This is a model I've been working on on/off since 2000 cd. I finally decided to post for some help. You may have seen him in a few things I've posted. He went under numerous changes through the years as I upgraded. He's all A:M, no decals. I do have a few things that bother me. (1) the eye brows are just splines drawn as lines. (2) I've tried modeling and decals with no success for the nostrals and the last thing is the bow on his tail. At some point I will break down and buy TSM, but I want to finish it before I rig him. Ok taking another little break from my c-130 aircraft model, this time Im goofing with a water splash(no splash yet though) ...oh well , something like the topic title, attached are a couple short clips of theb Eddie model from the CD falling into what is suppose to be water, the motion and timing and just about every thing else is way, way off, all I was doing on this go round was working on the sprite air bubbles, and I slaped together a simcloth water surface, with sloppy settings, a lightgel on a light, and some sloppy eddie key framing of him flopping underwater.... I am making a Star Wars Fanfilm taking place during the Clone Wars and need some help... This is Shirley, She is getting close to completion, she will be eventually turned into a fairy and will be part of a short film I'm making as part of my masters degree in computer animation. I have two other characters to model for it also, but they will come after Christmas. just a quick Modeling Time-lapse to show her developing. I've restarted this in the WIP section, because I intend to make this ongoing project a working model. After spending time experimenting with displacement maps, and flirting with bump maps, I decided to go ahead and just model in the frets and the Nut. I've completed the and attached the neck. Next the bridge and the saddle. that should be easier, followed by the tuning machines and finally the strings. Necked0.mov
