Hi, got an idea for a new project!! Ill see if I can upload a sketch but it involves an ocean shore with 2-3 large rocks and various small ones as the focal point. Grass and maybe a old beach chair or fence in there too. I have some of it done (see pic). I need to work on the sand texture/shader. I really want it to look real so I'm going to be spending a lot of time doing that.... The rocks are going to be a modified version on the one I used on my previous project. The water was kinda interesting to do. I had to adjust the transparency and reflectivity to get the right look. I wanted to use the Index of Refraction, density, and transparency settings for more realistic w…

For anyone joining... Javier has agreed to assist with the transformation of of one of my (2D) characters to 3D. Thanks too much, Javier! I have agreed to donate the model to the A:M community and (also) donate to the Hash Fellows a sum of money toward plugin creation once the model is complete. We are posting progress here so that all may learn from the experience. I cannot speak for Javier, who most likely is doing the hard work here... but comments are welcome along the way... This is one of the pictures I created approximately 10 years ago. One other version of this same picture may exist that I colored but I don't have any leads on what box it …

I've decided to learn Actionscript over Christmas break this year, so I thought it would be fun to try some 3D stuff. This is what I have so far: - System to render out nodes, edges, and polygons - Basic control system (rotate, zoom, and move camera) - Java "converter" which takes a .mdl file and converts it to a custom formatted text file - Actionscript importer which imports the data from the text file and constructs a model from it I attached a picture of the model in AM, here's the same model in flash: https://mywebspace.wisc.edu/vandeweghe/web/engine.htm Current issues: - It runs pretty slowly. There are a few things I'…

Hey Folks. Here's something I started working on. One day I may actually finish a project i start. Any-ol-who. since most of my work has been kinda cartoony, i thought i'd try modeling from a photo. He're what I've gotten so far. I'm endevoring to actually finishing this one unlike my previous projects i start and well. . . loose. Either physically lost it due to HD failure, or lost it cause i swiched platforms and can't seem to get my previous work of my old machine. . well here's the new girl.

I'm working on my employer's animated company greeting again and I'll be posting some renders here as I progress. Thus far I've taken the Santa Lion model from the cd and made him into a "real" Santa, and modeled his sled and bag of presents. here's a still. I'm still detailing things but I wanted to get something up here to get a thread started. More later! Gerry

I've been wanting to enter the landscape and/or hairy image contests, but haven't had the time for the last couple of years. So, I finally decided to work on something for myself for a change, maybe I'll have it done for the next landscape contest, if there is one. So, here's the start of something I've been working on. It not much at the moment, but I figured I would post my progress as I go. IMAGE REMOVED

I've never entered one of the image contests because my AM work was usually rigging practice or the occasional live project for my day job. But I've got this online comic, Bugbots: The Mansect Rebellion! that has been back-burnered for a couple of years now. I've occasionally tried some 3D treatments but usually ran into some glitch or complication and put it aside. But I decided to try one more time to model and rig a character, and recreate a scene from the comic as a still image. So what I'm working on is a model of Croaker, the assassin bug, in a 3D recreation of the last panel of Chapter 3.

Hello, I am taking a little "breather" from my other project. I noticed my bike sitting lonely in my garage today (My dirt jumping and downhill biking days are over just the scars that remind of what Im missing ) and I thought that it would be a great idea to model it. I plan to model every single component that is visible (Thats a lot!). Here is the real thing: I managed to finish most of the frame: Its at about 4k patches right now Photoman

Have you noticed I have a car fetish? But I digress. So this is my 3rd attempt to model this car. It's one of the favorite things from my childhood, I watched all the episodes as a kid. (And I just bought them all on DVD whoohooo!) It has been extremely difficult due to the converging curves. I suppose I could have made the three components of the front end separate, but I didn't want to. I do want to see if I can cut out the hood. I think I did a good job of keeping spline count down - but I'm not sure how good my approach is, but like I said..3rd attempt so, I've failed miserably twice already! I'm trying to keep Colin's lessons in mind on this one. The "m" is…

I'm having a MAJOR problem, my color won't stick to the grass. I've followed the "Hairy Grass" tutorial step by step, but when I render, the color won't stick to the grass... May I've pushed a button that doesn't makes decals disappear when rendered? Anyways, here's a picture before the rendering.

Hey Spliners! Been awhile since I did any 'show-n-tell'...I've been busy, and A:M V15.0E is at the CORE of my operations. Here are two recent jobs, one for Healthy Balance fruit juice and the other for HoMedics new water filter-er. I'm having good results with Yves new ENVIRONMENT SHADER, but I still tend to render with reflections ON anyway. Both of these animations were needed in HD (720P) and average render times were around 4 minutes per frame, totally acceptible for an overnight render. The juice bottle is actually an engineering file imported to A:M as a .OBJ prop, and given dummy attributes right in the choreography(color, transparency, reflectivity, specular, refr…

I decided to take a stab at modeling a 63 vette. So far I just have the dog house, hood, and front tires. It's got a long way to go and a lot of detail missing but it's starting to look like something. I used Photoman's tut on the bike tire to make my tires. It worked perfectly. Thanks.

Hi Hasher gang, I just did a little work on the character I'm working on. Lots of work ahead, just chuggin along. Doing some refining of the rig and poses and adding some new poses-- (Finger bending-spreading/mouth shapes/ facial muscle moves). I'm starting to get tired of looking at him with no clothing on... so I guess I should be working on that soon. I don't know if I want to do full cloth simulation or try to do partial with a unibody structure. Any tips? *edit: Thanks MAAM user group for the suggestions.

Hello all This will be my first post and first WIP. The characters name is Snowball and she is my mascot for my website. I plan on doing some small animations of her along with a small film if everything goes as planned. The model is almost complete, all that lacks now are the clothes and the hair. I didn't want to offend anyone so I censored her anatomy for public view. In all other animations/renders when complete everything is covered so I won't need to censor anything Please critique or comment whatever you feel. If there are any suggestions as for clothes by all means let me hear them, the original character was more cartoony and didn't have as much detail…

I never did that much modeling characters. I want to start a little bigger(little big? excuse my french) project, so maybe better and safer to own my characters. I have tried to stay with a fairly low mesh density so far, hope it works for animating. Do most people still apply decals on the face using flatten? I used it a few years ago, worked well, but this time I can't find the way to apply the decal in the action window where I flatten the face. I will rig them soon with 2008 rig to test the models. Well, 168 hours later (yes, 168), and this pops up on my screen. Radiosity Rendered in v11 on my P4 1.8 Ghz @ 2200 x 3000. The characters are from an IDW comic book called Popbot by Ashley Wood. All modeled in v10.5 and 11 on my G4 Powerbook, with some modeling (the cat, door in the back, the pipes) done on my old PIII 500mhz laptop. The Jpeg seems kinda washed out as I've already converted to CMYK for print, so the colors aren't as vibrant as what's on my mac, but it serves. I'll be back with some wires and some more explanation of the Radiosity setup if anyone is interested. Larger Version of the image - pjc

EDIT: This thread has been continued and expanded in the topic "The Mountain" Just thought I'd post a "thus-far" image of this old man I'm working on. Been really pouring myself into this one; waiting for my best friend's funeral today. All the same, this is something I'm getting pretty proud of. He is part of a short animated film I'm working on with my boyfriend tentatively titled "The Mountain"; it's a metaphor for the end of the journey of life, which he wrote. It includes evil bunnies as the symbol of earthly trials and desires (my idea). Man I hate bunnies. They are so evil. =) Anyhow, here he is...

Hi guys and gals. I haven't gotten to use AM for anything creative in a bit and was really starting to feel the lack of creativity in my life.. So this Sunday afternoon after church I sat down and started working on a character just for fun. I watched iRobot the other night and decided to give it a go with a little cartoony look added. Not sure what to do with the face but it was fun to do a quick model. I used the 2008 rig. It's easy to install and has great instructions to follow, plus it gave the right amount of control for this character. The only CP weight blending I had to do was in the palm of his hands so the joints would stay connected using the hand controls. It needs some work but it's a start.

well i think its been about 5 or 7 years since i last tried at character animation. so i thought i would give it a go again when i saw this basic character model in the sharing page. last time i tried, i did a jump animation. so thought it would be good to try the same motion. i kept it pretty simple with the motions. can you who have been animating a while critique it for me and maybe give me a few pointers as to what I'm doing right or wrong. please be honest jump_test.mov Thanks

This 'Manhattan Project' I am doing for Shawn Rogers (NewGuy) is coming along really nice... I decided that to do a proper NYC you need to also model what lies across the rivers... which is Staten Island, Brooklyn, Jersey, the Bronx and the Atlantic Ocean... among others. (Bridges, Statue of Liberty, ships...) The project is for the Major League Soccer's New York Red Bulls... and next I will be modeling their stadium... so the zoom can continue right into midfield! Texturing is minimal... all is heavily stylized... just needed to capture the 'feel' of the city. I will render a high res over the holiday weekend with particle trees, reflections and shadows at 720P…

I rendered some exr sequences at the weekend with light buffers turned on but they are now turned off and the setting are 'normal' I have rendered out sequences with alpha included before and not had this problem, can anyone kindly suggest what the problem might be and how to correct it ? regards simon

I'm working on a new model and for the life of me, I can't get the darktree eye material working properly in v11.1f. As you can see, he's got no specularity highlights on his eyes even though they're on in the material. Is it something to do with the light? Is anyone else having trouble with this material?

I did this as a sketch from a Molly Hatchet ticket stubb my brother had about 20 years ago. Since I have been building my collection of models I figured I would give it a try. I would like any input, especially how one would create a velvety appearance for the fur. Here's the concept. The sketch was brought into the computer and I was "painting it in PSP (kinda doing that with all my old traditional art) but AM seems a better effort hence the model.

I saw a redesigned 1701 on the web created by a very talented Star Trek fan and wanted to recreate it in Animation Master. I'll have to find the original web site in order to credit the author, but for now I'm just gonna post my progress. Hi all, I am new to 3d software period. AM is the software I plan to learn with and I just started to understand the modeling aspects of the software. This is a screen shot of a rotoscope of my head that I did this weekend. I am still learning to decal and have had limited success as I take the selected "face" into a pose window but cant for the life of me figure out how to flatten it to decal it but I'll get it. I have about 12 hrs on this one and suspect the spline count is too high and need to work on the spline connections at the nostrils and corners of the mouth but am still very happy that it actually looks like a face. I am used to clay and paint but this is addict…
