This topic will serve as my main topic. I upload my animations to http://rl01.revver.com/account/show/UberAnimator. I will post a new reply with a link to the video in question when I have a new one up. Right now feel free to comment on all my videos I have there. This should make it a lot easier to keep track of my animations. The reason I am using revver over YouTube is because it is fast, and does both flash and our all time favorite, QUICKTIME . Looking forward to comments. New Additions: WIP#1 - Quinton Kleer On Santa | Time: 0:00 - 0:07 Quinton Kleer #1 My Animations - FIXED

It's funny how inspiration can take you where you didn't think you were going. Case in point, John's thread on his Kapsule characters. I found them to be very cute and creatively stimulating. I have this pair of grape characters that I thought about redoing, so I did. Only thing is that in the redoing, I created totally new characters and I'm kinda surprised at the results. These characters are "bitties" (there was this elderly african-american woman who would stop by the pet store I used to manage every easter for her "bitties" -- baby chicks. The name stuck with me and I'm delighted to be able to use it) and they are kinda elfin, sorta fairy-like people. …

I've been working on this character to use for animation practice. I'm thinking about adding a little something to him, maybe a belt or something? Input on that is really appreciated.

Hi everyone. I saw the running trex animation. very cool. I was fooling around with this trex model i had downloaded awhile back. I took the original rig out and put in the tsm2 rig. I used the weightmover on the neck to the tail and put in the cog system on the thighs. I only got to put in about 5 hours on the animation but the tsm2 rig works awesome. the animation is still very rough and has no secondary action yet, but it has some potential. this is my first animation that I have posted on the forum. This file is divx and may not work with all browsers. let me know if there is problems. this was 10 seconds and I only have 10 meg…

About twelve years ago, when CD's were a hot new technology, I had a client who needed a logo/avatar for a "CD Studio". "The Bean" suddenly appeared as a doodle in the margin: a blobby character with pipestem arms and legs, no features, surfing on a CD with a stack of three over his head. He was never submitted, but I have somehow retained a fondness for him. Over the years, I have built, and re-built The Bean in evey 3D app. that passed through my hands. Now it's A:M's turn.

I've been toying with v11's hair and collision-detection and came-up with a test scenario you may find helpful should you wish to experiment with this feature. In my opinion, it works, but could do with some improvement. Here's a movie...project will follow in subsequent post: CollDetect_test.mov

So, has anyone figured out cloth yet? I have an animation to finish off for someone else and cloth is holding me up right now. I don't want to spend too much longer messing with it to hopefully discover the magic formula. I have made a simple test object with a cape and tested cloth sim in A:M versions 10.5, 11.0t and 11.1f. I still can't get collision detection to work. Any clues? This is pretty urgent! In the attached movie the top two tests are done in 10.5 and 11.0t. The bottom two are both in 11.1f. As you can see collision detection doesn't appear to be working. Does anyone have it working?

I'm the "Key Grip" of my school's Film Consideration Club (FCC). We watch movies and talk about them. I've been assigned to make a backdrop for the projector. It's the image that displays when it's warming up, and before we put in a movie. It'll be up when people are coming in. It's not trying to sell anything, just something to look at. Here's my first pass at it. I plan to fix the way the film just ends on the upper right. Also, I wanted to do some spotlights a la 20th Century Fox, but I couldn't figure out a good way to do it. I plan to mess with the lighting a bit too. I'd love to hear what y'all think.

hi @ all, here are some screenshots, renderings and a short qt-movie from the actual project i´m working on. please tell me what you think about the characters, lightning, etc, i´m sure you can find some critical points i haven´t thought of yet. i have a few questions: 1. the forces setting: i want to have a slow breeze flowing through the grass and the tree... the movie is my very first attempt with forces, i know it´s much much too fast etc... but i was wondering if anyone of you could give ma advice about the settings on the force and the hair-materials. sure, i could figure it out by try and error, but maybe some of you guys figured some good settings…

If so is there big fixes on the windows version for display refresh and over all program stability? Attached is one of the files that died on me Lock.zip

This is based off of a beautifully lit photo of model Sachiko Kokubu. I still have more work to do on the hands, face, and cloth wrinkles, but it's mostly finished. The hair, skin, and cloth are all rendered with reflections, though the bump maps on the skin diffuse them a bit. The ribs are the only major area that I used bump mapping to cheat actually modeling the form. As always, any and all criticism is welcome. http://www.angelfire.com/film/noanoa/kokubu.html Noah

I finished this character up last night. He's not rigged yet but for those interested he's using the new hair particle system. There are no decals here, only material combinations. He weighs in at around 1200 patches. He rendered in about 2 and a half minutes, resolution 640x400, multi-pass x 16. Okay Martin...there you go...like I promised. Comments are welcomed and encouraged. I appreciate any feed-back I can get. (Especially around the shoulder area.)

Hyello- Martin recently was mentioning the strengths of copy/pasting body parts to make your own characters. Not only is this a great way to learn but it is a speedy way to get custom characters on demand. The other day I did a test for a potential diet supplement advert where a woman who has 'recieved the benefits' of the diet supplement would be the central character in the spot. My potential clients needed a 'mock-up' for a meeting so they could sell their concept, and 'theoretically' if I made the art I would get the gig... (doesn't always work that way...) They initially wanted a 2D traditional animated character, but liked the idea of a 2D/3D look. I used …

While I was continuing work on my Superman model I had a stop at Image comics booth during the San Diego Comic Con, and got to talking to the great creative team that makes a superb comic called "Invicinble". As a study in how quickly I could take my Superman and turn him into Invincible's dad, "OmniMan" (he's their worlds Superman) I created this image. About 3 hours work. He's got a new face sculpt and new face map (based on my face this time). The funny thing is, he kinda reminds me of my dad...with a mustache...<<image missing>>...hopefully the guys at Invincible will dig it and put it in their book...fingers crossed...now back to Superman. - pjc

I'm working on a music video for my band. The instrumental tune is called Escape from the Mines of Titan, and that pretty much spells out the plot. I just started work, and quickly put together a scene. I just created a surface, added some hills and valleys, and put on some color and roughness that gives it a sandy look. (Saturn behind it is an actual NASA photo.) The real Titan has a landscape more like that of the moon, but I would be OK with keeping it sandy. I'd love to hear any tips or suggestions you guys have about improving the look of Titan (maybe a material or image texture?) It's not bad for the small amount of time I've spent on it so far, but it can be…

Hi guys I created this scene for fun, based on a little experience I had a few years back... *** Ever found urself in the wrong place at the wrong time? not a good feeling.. Sometimes it just best to turn right around and run!! Sang was hungry and went looking for food in a rough area of the ocean..Bumped into daddy!!! and baby worms and realized his stay should be short!!! *** I wanted a dramatic feel so I used a limited colour palette / textures and design... The bobbles were done by hand cuz my system can't handle particles... Done with A:M / The Gimp.... thanks for your feedback!!

Stian, I followed your tutotrial on putting a model and image based lighting together as described in your Ecto thread: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showt...hl=ghostbusters The problem I am having has been narrowed down to the Global Ambiance Type in the Chor settings. When I set that to Image based Lighting while using a Dosh Designs Light Probe image, I get an image saturated with bright blue - see image. I've changed to another Light Probe image with the same results. The other settings are as per your tutorial - Ambiance intensity 100%, Ambiance occlusion 100%, mapping type - Light Probe, Exposure - 0, Azimuth - 0. All lights are off with the ground m…

This is a charity music video to help support fire fighters widows and children. Far Star Productions. Inc. donated the special effects and the editing. The Angel models were made by Andy Mulia and animation was done by both Andy and me. The editing was done by my production company partner, Elisa Llamido. If you would like a DVD or the cd you can order it through the America We Stand As One website. It is a charity so there is no set price to receive the DVD or the cd; they ask that you donate what you can and spread the word of Love. Peace! http://www.americawestandasone.com/home.html

I separated the audio into bass, mid, high and top versions with the EQ filters in Audacity. After applying the plugin to the audio i deleted all the "bottom half" keyframes of the waveform and rescaled what was left to fit from 0% to 200%. WILh400.mov It has promise. I think it would benefit from some sort of smoothing or peak averaging to make the amplitude result more resemble the perceived volume of the sound rather than track the instantaneous level of the waveform itself.

This is a story I have been thinking about for a few days now. I've noticed that some people would be interested in participating in a short team effort. Well, that's the reason I'm posting this at such an early stage in the development....if you like the story and want to make a well animated(hopefully) short, drop me an email. Either way, I'll be making this short and posting updates here whenever I have them. Another reason is to get an unbiased view of the story. If anyone can think of ways to improve the story, put down your ideas in this thread. I'm willing to entertain anything. Without further ado here's what I have so far. Hello Everyone ... I thought I would share a new animation that I have created. It is for an educational project in development called "Astronomy 101" and is geared towards ages 8-11. The movie clip is called "The Introduction" and ...well ... "introduces" most of the cast as well as the background story . Please visit and take a look if you can. I am especially interested in some feedback from those of you with kids in that age catagory (8-11). Please excuse some of the "cheesy" graphics and special effects ... but I think it is still watchable. EDIT: Opps ... I had the wrong ages in the original post. Ages 8-11 are the target. I am working on a semi- (to high) realistic (we will see how well she will turn out ) model of a girl. She was modeled from scratch and isn't textured yet (apart from the eyes). She needs some more poses for talking- and emotional stuff, but till now I am quite pleased with her. Before I will go on texturing her, I thought I may adress the porceilan-problem I run into. I tried using the porceilan-material, but I got a problem with hooks there. Anyone knows what I am doing wrong there? The final-rendering is without(!) porceilan which looks okay too, but I would like to use the material to make it even more smooth. Any thoughts? Thanks for your comme…

Here's a model I'm working on from my Bugbots comic. Some of you have seen other work on this project, and I had a whole website at www.bugbots.com but I recently lost my free webspace so it's on hiatus. However I've been meaning to work on modeling Skarab, the main character, and here's my work so far. I'm going to be doing the eyes based on Dave Simmons great eyeball tute on the ARM. It's so simple and so effective I can't believe it! However I'm concerned that the eyes will look too "real" compared to the skin. I still need to work out some of the angularity in the splines and I'm open to suggestions for tweaks. The character is half insect and half human so …
