This is a little short I made to test my new character's rig and (few) face poses. He will become much more elaborate in the future, with any hope. Video format is MPEG - 1. Wasting Time Audio and titles added in post. Thanks.

I've been working on a toon flower model for the trees with leaves project. I discovered something interesting. You can control hair guides with a pose slider. The model is set up for toon render, but I think I'll be able to set an image for the petals for normal renders. I'll be adding sliders for color, size of petals and for flower growth. Let me know what you think.

OK, I'm trying to get to grips with the patch modelling. Once I start laying down the CP's, it's like a juggling act to get four-point patches without destroying the ones already there. Could someone pleeze tell me if I am going about this the right way, or if I need to scrub this and start again. When I see other people's works (just seen Ken H's start of a face model), they seem so neat compared to mine. Thanks for taking a look... Adam

Not quite complete but wanted to post what I had cause I think it is looking sweet. Need to finish the flintlock assemblyand some details around the ramrod. Also need to smooth out the top of the grip. There will be some detail added with bumps later on the very bottom of the grip as well as the trigger guard and flintlock base. Comments please, Wade Edit: Pic got lost somehwere, I have posted new ones below.

Hello, all. Well, this week's Animation Showdown got me really down, so I decided to cheer myself up with a new head. (Some people say a new brain is in order instead, but I just laugh at them. Hysterically. Until the persons in white coats come...) Anyway, here he is thus far, in a quick turnaround. He's my usual low-patch cartoony fare, but I think he might have potential for the future. I do wonder where to go with him next, as far as clothes and a body of some sort. Right now I'm leaning toward a gas station uniform, but I don't know why. Suggestions welcome. turnaroundhead_sor.mov

Hi folks, Andy Gibbons here (using my nephews PC to post these images) Here are a few models for you to have a look at which will be on sale in early 2005. I am starting a web site offering AM character models for sale. The characters are fully set up with various poses and phonemes for lip synch. I will be making versions available which are pre rigged and ready to run through the set up machine. These will have intermediate bones and smartskin set up and ready to use. There will also be versions of the models in the Hash skeletal rig for those thet prefer to animate with it. Just a quick look for you to see what you all think.

I'm working on my first model of a human figure, that kind of thing. But I've run across a problem. Could anyone help me? Here's the problem: when I copy flip attatch the half of my face that I've got, it comes out with missing splines, patches, and cp's that make it look normal. Here are some pictures. Maybe you could help me based on those? CAPTION: half of face. 2nd Caption below: After copy flip attatch.

Here's a model I'm working on from my Bugbots comic. Some of you have seen other work on this project, and I had a whole website at www.bugbots.com but I recently lost my free webspace so it's on hiatus. However I've been meaning to work on modeling Skarab, the main character, and here's my work so far. I'm going to be doing the eyes based on Dave Simmons great eyeball tute on the ARM. It's so simple and so effective I can't believe it! However I'm concerned that the eyes will look too "real" compared to the skin. I still need to work out some of the angularity in the splines and I'm open to suggestions for tweaks. The character is half insect and half human so …

We were talking about 'cheap/free' website providers up in the 'Animation:Master' forum (http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10540) and someone spilled the beens about 'Dreamhost's 7 year anniversary sale. Next thing I knew I have a new host with (hopefully) a lot more bandwidth and a lot less pop-ups... So far so good...best $9.24 I've spent in a long while. So now I need to throw a little foottraffic at it to see how it holds-up. I put a 'WIP' 30 second render (4.5mb) windows media file (eventually, it will be streaming Quicktime) of my 'The Rolling Stones' animation which is still being rendered and tweeked...anyhow, there's some lip-synch and rock…

Hi I am still trying to get my mechanical model into a pleasing composition and at the moment I am working on the terrain. I have been playing with different camera angles and depth of field. I particularly wanted to use D.O.F to help give some atmospheric perspective but my results are less than satisfactory. Here is an example with depth of field with just 4 passes:

I'm attempting to apply a small QT movie as a decal. It will be on a curved shape and will create an illusion of spinning with a series of blurred frames. but when I apply it, either directly in the model window or in an action window after flattening, it applies exactly the same way, with a few stretched/repeated images. I'm attempting to attach an image to show the way the movie looks, and the way it applies. Can someone telll me what I could be doing wrong? Thanks! P.S. The attach image may not be working. Don't know why, I browse for the image but there's no way to upload apparently. You'd think I'd know how to work this by now.

I tried to use some textures and lighting for the first time to achieve a certian style. Here is the result for now. Many things are still bothering me though: -The lightbulb in the standlamp next to the comfychair doesnt seem to work correctly. I made the bulb and the cover transparent but the light is not showing enough still. - the texturemap for the wall are tiled and double applied for bump and colormap. I am not sure , if they show correctly and are properly aligned positioned. -the oak material for the wood works quiet nice, scaled down to 1 % except for the backwall of the big bookcase , where they seem to big scaled somehow. Here's a warehouse I began working on that was going to be used for a background in a 3d game. Turned out they decided to go a different direction so I didn't take it much further. But I rendered it out. I bought Emilio's Sweeper plugin, and I used it here to make the walkway, railings, zig zag beam on ceiling and iron beams. It worked really well, very pleased with that! Funny thing, whenever I tried rendering this with multipass I got horrible renders. Turning it off, it came out much much better. Not sure if this has to do with volumetrics on the lights or what. C&C welcome. Tom

Here's an experiment using sprites for the clouds on a path , but also manipulating the path to change the shape of the clouds. It rough and I lost the project, but I can duplicate it quick if anyone is interested. I set the emitter to 100% transparency, but as you can see there is a ufo (the emitter) flying around stirring up the clouds.

Hey, does anyone remember my last attempt to animate a walk cycle with a cloak? No? Well, it was four months ago. Anyway, I had some concerns about the viability of the last version. Namely because it only worked when the character's arms were locked to her sides, and also because dynamics have to be recomputed every time you decide to change something. So, I went back to the drawing board. Since I wanted the cloak to swish around as the character's arms moved, I (loosely) constrained some of the bones in the cloak to the arm bones. The rest of the work involved manually animating the edges of the cloak so the hands and knees don't pass through it. The cloak as …

I am studying a BA in Digital Media. So far, so good. I've got through the first two years. Now, when I start my third and final year, one thing we have been warned of in advance is a Specialised Study project. We've got plenty of time to plan and I want to make the most of it. I have decided to make an interactive Macromedia Director based project, based on the well-known game of Cluedo. Influenced by Hasbro Interactive games, you get to solve the mystery by actually searching the rooms for clues, questioning the suspects and viewing flashbacks of previous events. I plan to make it a parody, calling it Crazy Cluedo and making it funny. The suspects have the mo…

This is the "glam shot" of the Albertasaur Skeleton Joe Cosman modeled for eggprops a while back. I just re-vamped it a little and added it back on eggprops. I must say it is pretty amazing how much work went into this thing. The tail controls alone are kind of mind blowing. Looks pretty sexy too. You can check it out <here>. And. . . Here's a little peek at a creature I'm working on. http://home.alltel.net/collinsfamily04/testjump2.avi I'm decent at modeling and okay at animating, but I'm horrible at texturing. Would anyone care to trade some modeling or animating for texturing and mapping? Also, I made this in 8.5 although I'm finally breaking out 11 now. I can't seem to be able to pick the path this guy follows in the choreography window in 11.1 on a windows machine. Any suggestions? Cory

This was done in V13 Alpha 4... There was a boo-boo when I attempted a 2048x1536 render last night... I'll post both let you figure out which is which. But before you see the finished works, take a look at my project window... note the texture sizes involved here. (And, no, I don't think I can reproduce what happened... I'm clueless. It occured both render to file and in the chor window until I restarted A:M) I will attempt to re-render at 2048x1536 or higher tonight and post the results.

Hey, Here is a 3 segment shot I just rendered out. (about 5Mb) http://www.dustinproductions.com/files/Dustin-3-views.m1v It shows the same virtual scene from 3 different angles (actually this is the first time I have been able to get more than one camera in a live action environment to work). Of course after is been rendered I see all kinds of flaws, but knowing the keen eye here on the forum, I thought ya'll could tear it apart for me and point out the things to fix. Things I know are wrong. 1. Truck is too large 2. Car is too small. 3. Too much lean on the car going through the corner. 4. Seems to be on small deviation in the path (horizontal)…

I have been trying to progress with the low-patch model that you may have seen in another thread. I have added a backpack, bedroll and some dynamic constraints, bringing the total patches up to 758 now, but something is messing up the eye poses and the dynamics are not working at all. Are other people getting similar problems with alpha 10? [attachmentid=15255]

Welll her it is. I still need to touch up the seams and change some of the textures around, but take a look! When finished it will have specular mapping, normal mapping, etc for teh game it will be going into. Also I plan on using it in the opening animation for that game. It'll be done in A:M. (I'll post a small movie to show the whole thing after my browser gets over timing out from waiting so long! I hate slow internet!)
