Well, I had a moment to sit and work on another set piece for my animation. It is, as the subject indicates, a coat rack (or hat rack if you prefer). The textures are not final. I just threw them on there. Comments, questions and general observations about life are welcome.

Here is the somewhat updated version of my short. Still some things need fixing (primarily those things you mentined David). Added some secondary animation. Not done but i like it. Just so you know he is trying to swat a fly. Im not sure if thats evident from the anim. If not, i need to fix that. Maybe add in an actual fly. SeanC. Let me know what you all think!!! I get the flock installed, and contained within its sphere, but as soon as I advance the scrubber, even by a frame or two, the flock begins to disperse widely. How to keep them contained within the sphere. And...can the sphere be constrained to a path? Thanks...

I intended to enter this in the Hash Animation Comp but didn`t finish it as I got distracted by other things. Must try harder next time. I`ve added hair to my character in AM Version 11 Alpha1. Ages ago, I put up an animatic of a short piece featuring a cricket who resorts to modern electronics to improve his chances with the ladies. I've *finally* gotten around to actually animating one shot for this. Any comments or nitpicks at any level - modeling, lighting, animation, etc. - would be very welcome. http://www.digins.com/jack/cwip3.mpg (1MB) I created a reusable "handheld camera shake" action based on Sotiris Gougousis' excellent "Expressions in AM" tutorial; I'd be happy to post that if anyone's interested.

I need a bit of help: I'm working on a head and I need to delete half to do a copy flip attach but each time I try the app drops to desktop. this happens in both the latest alpha and in v10.5. I need to delete these points to do a copy/flip/attach. Any ideas? I've been trying for 2 days. I've attached the .prj file. the points labeled "delete" are the ones I don't want. -Project file removed- (Will post pictures later)

Hi, Been too busy enjoying the festive season to post much, but I spent a couple of hours trying out a different way to quickly create heads. I was after a carved puppet feel and I think it worked, especially given the time. Don't know how well it will animate. I had to try and avoid hooks, three point and five point patches, because they don't work with displacement maps, but I think you could just plan these in areas where the displacement is unnecessary. ciao

...I was thinking of restarting the project and wanted to get opinions. She has no legs yet and lacks a great deal of detail. Here is my shuttlepod from Enterprise. I still have to texture it, but my AM2002 isn't applying decals at the moment. You apply them, but you can't see them on the model, nor will it render. I think it's playing up with my current release of OSX, so I'm waiting to get an upgrade for AM. But I think the model is coming along well. Next I'll make up the Enterprise NX-01 to go with it.

Hey everyone - this is my first shot at modelling a character with an outward mouth/jaw (animal) the other 4 characters I have done have flat faces, so I decided to give it a try. I asked my 3 year old what I should make and he said a rat.. when it was finished, he said it was "bad - make a new one", so I have a 3 years old opinion so far I am more interested in the modelling end of 3D animation, but I also put him in a short 20 second animation since my animation skills could use some work too. Extending on from the tree making threads this is a test project , with only two planes and three materials. The sky is skytracer, the landscape is a darktree landscape texture which shades surfaces facing up with a grass like texture and vertical surfaces with a rocky surface. The forest is an AM11 fur material with tree images mapped onto the fur "strands". The animation render is a single pass multipass so there are quite a few artifacts. With some fine tuning of fur emmitters I think the trees can be considerably improved and the lighting is only test lighting. Still I thought it was worth showing

Geeze! It's been over 25 hours so far and my image for the Sci-fi contest is still over 30 hours from finishing!!! The bad thing is, the estimated time is continously going up!! Is this normal? I did make some adjustments to it to try and save some time but this is too long. I have like 18 lights in the scene tho. maybe thats why. Any tips? I just hope it finishes before Sept 1st! lol

All these fantastic BMW models in progress reminded me that I hadn't finished my Formula 1 car model. It isn't too far away from being finished. It still needs wheel hubs and brakes, camera housings and a bit of work on the rear diffuser. Other than that, I'm quite happy with it. I will add panel lines using image maps. The driver model is close to being finished too. Can't quite get the helmet shape right. I like really dirty images ;-) so the final textures will probably reflect a car that has gone a race distance. No showroom shines for this puppy! What I would really love to do though is a wet weather shot. Puddles, reflections, rain, particle sp…

I've finally completed this model. I've been working on it for a long time. I originally made the head months (a LONG time) ago, and have been slowly working on the body. Well, I've finally finished the main body work. It is not officially complete yet, as I'm sure I'll be changing things and making it look different, but, at least it's a complete body. It still needs tweaking (like the hands, which look a bit bad) and texturing. But anyway, if anyone has any comments or suggestions, please feel free to post! Cheers!

Hello, List. Here's a brief animation test, featuring Gaty, my alligator boy. It's very short (30 frames, 226 KB). It just shows Gaty jumping back in surprise. My reference was a page out of a Preston Blair animation book. I think I have the same book that Smudge has. Right now I'm copying animators I admire, 'cuz I want to animate like them.
