The A:M Forum is for technical support and the sharing of tips and ideas between users/prospective users of Hash software. It is moderated constantly by technical support representatives.

User Led Forum Considerations
Firstly and foremostly, please remember this is Martin Hash's forum and that it is every A:M User's primary resource for information about A:M. In order to remain relevant we need everyone's continuing support and interest.
Secondly, understand there is a distinction between A:M (the program) and the A:M forum. There are some topics and issues that are outside the scope of this forum and most can be deduced by reading through the forum guidelines. These include such things as Hash Inc internal policies, business practices, trade secrets, and specific plans for the future not yet publicly released. Each of these would be fascinating topics of their own but are better reserved for private communications with a representative of Hash Inc.
Related to the second, is purchasing, customer service and other areas outside the purview of the common user who may have no interest in such things; subjects relating to money exchanging hands are beyond the scope of the A:M Forum and often can lead to conflicts of interest between users and/or Hash Inc. (If Hash Inc cuts you a deal on volume purchasing it's really no one else's business). Likewise, individual complaints about a product or service are best remedied by going direct with Hash Inc representatives empowered to make decisions. Please allow them them the time necessary to resolve your specific issue and consider the cost of customized solutions.
This last area is likely the source of much confusion because many see the A:M Forum as the official outlet for Hash Inc... and it is. But the forum is not designed for conducting business and private matters best resolved by going to Hash Inc directly. Similarly, bug reports are best resolved by entering them directly into the A:M Reporting system.
Many problems can be easily addressed at the user level just by asking fellow users in the forum. If someone at Hash Inc suggests the forum as a source, it is very likely a problem can be easily resolved. For tougher issues there is even more reason to take the issue directly to the source... you don't want the issue discussed... you want it resolved quickly.
Finally, remember that we want to pass this forum on to future moderators and generations of A:M Users in the absolute best condition possible. A:M is just that good a program and is worthy of our consideration.

Hello. I'm having trouble with the basic movement of my character. What I'm looking to do (and this is just me practicing), is have a character kick with his one leg, bring it down, then kick with the other. (This applies to arms as well.). However, after I create the movement with his one leg and begin the other, the 2nd leg begins to move at the very BEGINNING of the entire animated sequence (during playback) instead of AFTER the 1st leg movement. Any help? Suggestions? Thanks. Steven

Okay, I can make the piston cycle nicely once, and if the animation is looped, it does not hesitate at the top as I did not chor the last frame of the action. However, the engine needs to turn more that once. I have tried futzing with all the numbers. Cycle length, chor and crop... nothing seems to make the action cycle over a longer chor... right now, i'd settle for 3 seconds. with the action repeating about 2.5 times. then I would know I can go on. Here's a screen shot... what am I missing?

i just installed A:M last night and i'm already having problems whenever i try to shade render a charecter, it doesn't work right. the parts that shouldn't show show, like the toung or teeth, and ther's no hair on the charecter with the entire model looking transparent instead of solidly shaded. also in order to even start A:M i have to have the disk in the computer. i'm wondering if this is normal. and finaly i have no idea how to get anything from the extras dvd. please help

i wanted to build buildings, and rooms, and hallways and stuff like that now for the avid user, this is probably a simple thing to do. but for an eternal noob like me, its kinda awkward i dont know a good method of doing things like this. can someone point me in the direction of some tutorials on subjects like this i was hoping to build city scapes and building interiors, and things like that

Hello, I have been trying to model a wedding dress for a long time. I have a problem with the legs comig out of the dress. How do I avoid that? I try to use the cloyh material but is showing me an error. And I try to use the same bones as the body and this what happens. The legs come out the dress. picture here. Help please!

I have AM version 12.0w and I did the particles tutorial to create fire. When I look at the realtime preview it looks great, but once I render anything the emitter can be seen. I attached a picture to show what I'm talking about. I searched the forums and did a lot tinkering trying to fix this problem, but I'm really lost on how to fix this. The book blatantly states that emitters should be transparent, but that isn't the case here. Any ideas?

practically every time i try to import a texture into my project, it says: "Exception #019 in the "Jpeg" image to open." and about after half a dozen of these most of my current textures are gone. on top of that, the program quits very easily if i'm not careful, or even careful at times. it will easily freeze, in which i would need to forcefully quit, here is the data that the system gives me when i send the error report: szAppName : Master.exe szAppVer : 12.0.0.0 szModName : hungapp szModVer : 0.0.0.0 offset : 00000000 and i can't even render anything anymore.... i always get an exception #010, what a pain. this issue occurs in EV…

Having an issue - I am working on a project and my model when I try to view as shaded the message pops up "Exception #033 Realtime Render" - it also said when I opened the model "CP listed twice" - I think that was the wordingin - I guess somehow there is a CP w/ the same name or something? Has anyone ever run into this issue? How do I get the section in the properties that show's all the CP's - maybe I can find it in there and delete it - if that is the issue. Any help or suggestions would be great.

i´m workin on a hammy-like squirrel-character to learn more about hair. i figured out how to work with decals on hair, in this case i´ve decals for the color, the length and the density of the hair... first i had only one hair system, and it looked totally like a stuffed plush toy... then i added a second one, so that i now have a short one with a high density (375) and a long one with low density (25).. looks way better now, but i´m still not satisfied. i still get this kind of pattern, it looks not really natural... i thought about adding a third system, but i doubt my computer can take any more. the image i added took about 1 and a half hours to render (multipa…

ok i have fianly managed to rebuild most of my models that i lost and i have created a basic corograpy ( i know i cant spell) any ways i have 9, 4 leged robots who have a basic walking animation and i have them walk along a predefined path and the leags move correct to the speed ( that took a while ). my question is seeing that i have used a rounded terrain instead of blocks is there a way that i can make it so that the legs on my bots dont go through the ground. Ie touch it but go no further.

does any body else use open GL as the graphics card with A:M? if so does your rotoscope work? in another forum i was told to use Direct X, but the version i had was old so i was told to update it to a newer version. i did, and when i went into A:M options and choose direct X; it gave me an error message. I still can't use my rotoscope which is VERY limiting to me. does anybody have any other suggestions? (the direct X i downloaded was Microsoft Direct X SDK March 2008) thank u Hisako

I'm using the stock Gas Pump model from the A:M supplemental DVD. It has a skeleton on the hose so it can be manipulated. My problem: I can't seem to manipulate it gracefully. My reasoning tells me I should be able to put some kind of constraint on the handle so it stays in my character's hand, but it never seems to work right. So I'm stuck with this hose that is constantly flying around, twisting my handle during inbetween frames, and generally giving me a headache. I actually finished a whole shot doing the nozzle frame-by-frame. It just feels wrong. What's the answer?

hi everyone. i'm in need of some serious help as it seems as though i've fallen at the first hurdle. no...not even the first hurdle. i've tripped over at the start line! i've just bought and installed a:m v15 and its not letting me actually open it! it keeps saying to insert the cd into the drive. its already there!!! this is my first pc and as a result my knowledge of everything to do with computers is at best very limited! if anyone has any help they could offer i would be forever grateful. have i installed it wrong? i couldn't find an obvious serial number on the box or cd so i just entered what i thought was the erial number, would this be it? thanks in anticipat…

Hi all sorry to be a pain for prob a very easy answer but i'm not that good yet. Can someone tell me how to use video footage from say window movie maker on Vista and use it as a back drop for my sort aniamtion. Hi Everyone New question about Anzovin TSM plugin. Im using a Mac and AM ver. 15 (subscription) I downloaded and placed the files in the correct location and when i start AM I get the following error. Instructions say AM can only use 6 files in the HXT folder (but there are a lot more than 6 there) Is anyone else able to use this plugin and if so how did you get it to work?

ok soooo yesterday our sound file and our dope sheet was working... and SUPRISE!! today the sound file wouldnt play the dope sheet was working and the lip sync also but there was no sound comming from the character we have uploaded the file numerous times re added it to the character many times as well the sound file will work in the library but as soon as we put it on our character it will not work... im begining to dislike this greatly.... please help!!!!!!!

ive got a project im trying to do for my dad, its very simplistic, a modified version of a wookie walks into frame while holding a box, turns towards audience, (theres a message on the box) turns back, and walks out of frame. thing is, my dad needs it rendered through an alpha channel, we couldnt find one in the rendering section, so he told me to do a red background and floor, i used a primitive model of a cube, and made it red, but long question short, is there any way to adjust the presets of the setting? the basic brown ground and blue sky? could i, in theory, change those to the same color (red)? also, for what ever reason, when i try to use the pose …

Hi, I've been looking around the forums for answers to my problem with the "Trouble Loading HDR" error, when I try to import an HDR as an image in v15.g. I saw a post in which Yves Poissant said that it is not an "HDR file format" one imports, but a "High Dynamic Range Data" image. Can anyone elaborate on this? Essentially, I want to import High Dynamic Range pictures like the "Galileo" and "Uffizi Gallery" images from the "Debevic" site to work with creating lighting environments for my models. Ok hopefully pretty simple i have farious block type shapes that are all 50% transperant in a project im working on , is there a way i can have to objects that are say yellow move to the same space but have both the parts that are touching and the parts that are not remain the same 50% transperancy. more or less a block moves through another block of the same type and i dont want you to be able to tell that theres one inside the other

I am considering purchasing this program to use for a middle school class on animation. Would the users of this program respond as to the ease of use for true beginners in the art of animation. I too will be learning with my students. Should we start smaller. I worry that the task may be daunting for teen animators.

okay, i am doing the flower power exercise and when finishing using the duplicator to create the multiple petals, the petals wont show in shaded mode. i am not too sure what the tutorial did to make it show in shaded mode. in fact, he didnt add any color, he just went to shaded mode and it was displaying the pedals in a grayish manner. i decided to put color on the petals to see if they would display but nothing happen. i only get the stem and other two leaves that i created below. i uploaded my project for you anyone who wants to help Project2.prj

Somehow my choreography settings are going haywire. From one day to the next they change. I have been working on a fluids project for several days. Last Saturday I thought I just about had it right. When I started again on Monday, nothing was the same. Real-time rendering slowed to a crawl. I could not change the size of the particles, Nothing was the same. I started from scratch by creating a new project. Hello Working on the "move it" tutorial, using the Rabbit. I've noticed that sometimes when I select bones, only the rotate and scale manipulators are available. Why is that? Shouldn't the translate manipulator be available as well? Am I clicking on the wrong part of the bone? I am in skeletal mode, so that's not the problem. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

(is there something the matter with the off topic-forum - it only appears occasionally?) this sounds more complicated than it is; made a model, saved it. made others, saved them. started a new model in order to assemble these previous models into one. when assembling, ideas take progress back and forth in basic workflow - i make changes in components and expect them to travel to the end product. and they don't. i've just decaled the headband of a crown, but the headband of the assembled crown didn't update. is this a group dependent thing? = when i initially dragged the "headband" into a new model window, all that comes up is the group "headband"…

Thought I might try a bit of tree planting this weekend, using the TreeZ plug-in and HomeSlice's excellent PDF tut for reference. Also thought I would try for some hair leaves as well. However the plug-in seems to fail to generate the additional groups/levels in the model after running needed for the hair leaves. On starting, the plug-in tells you how many levels its going to make but once its run, it soon becomes evident that it never actually bothered to make them. So my question is; is this a new problem with TreeZ in AMv16a or a problem with TreeZ & Macs or a combination of the two maybe? Has anyone else noted this? I'm on a Mac running 10.6.8 with A…

ive been working on a model for awhile now and it came time to do a flip copy attach. the hand came out distorted. i deleted the hand and just took the left hand and copied it and did a flip hoping that it would be okay. unfortunatley it came out distorted. any ideas as to why this is happening?

I can quickly get overwhelmed by wanting to know how to do everything in A:M. So I have finally decided to study modeling. I am by no means an artist, but that is no reason not to know how everything works as far as splinemanship et al. This focus will also include creating phonems(sp) for speech. Hi I'm Keizerzilla and my mom got me Hash Animator for Christmas. We have tried to install it with the discs we were sent, but the program will not work. When we inserted the disc, the setup file did not come up. We tried double clicking on the file on the disc and it appeared to have downloaded it, but no icon of any kind to launch the program is on my computer. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what we failed to do or could it be that we didn't receive adequate disc info?

Hi all Well this is quite embarrassing but I'm having issues trying to activate AM. I've spent the last 15-20 minutes searching and reading but I am still stumped. First the version I bought is the lifetime not the yearly one, don't know if that makes a difference. I have AM installed but I don't see a master.lic file only a master.txt file. When I look at the details of my account I see: Transaction ID AuthCode I tried both of these codes but nothing. There are two other codes but I assume they have to do with the credit card.
