Hi. I work for an A-V event production company that does lighting and sound for concerts. I wanted to see how it would work doing lighting previz in A:M, and try out my own ideas for shows. I tried to incorperate a few basic lighting styles, with plans to add more once I had a system worked out. I found that it is a lot of work and I need to work on setting up a good system for general light control. To control the lights I use a combination of poses, actions, and cho actions. I would preffer to have a library of premade actions, but that didn't always work. Anyways, here are some stills and a short animation of the work so far. C+C welcome. ,, The video …

I made this portfolio for a class, which required 3 original shorts, each around 5 seconds long. I'm still learning about modeling, rigging and animation, so I appreciate any comments and constructive criticism on how I can improve. Hope you enjoy. I just created this head, starting from a lathe and then seeing where it took me. What do you think? Does it look like it will be fine to animate? And what does everyone recommend doing to the top of the head? I just took the top hole and scaled it down, is there a smoother way around this? Also what should I go about doing for eyes? Deer Hashers, I dont get to post or surf very often due to the fact I connect only at work where Im monitored, and limited in time allowed online. I now would like to ask for help, I was working on a Deer model splining and such when I got an error #503? when trying to save my model, it now will not load, any of the three I had saved. attached is a zip containing the 3 versions, if anyone can get this to load up in AM, Im using v14c on a PC, it would be greatly appreciated. Ill try to check back on Friday, maybe thursday night to see if anyone had the time and or luck with it, looks like my mascot wont make the deadline. Thanks for reading, Your fellow Hasher…

Hi everybody: This was in the WIP section a while back, and it's finally finished. Because of the fact that many of you helped me with your suggestions, I thought I'd post it and let you see the finished piece. The only thing left to do, to finish it completely is to fill the signs, that are sticking up out of the ground, with numbers (this is because it is for a math student textbook). made another 1.98 model this time of a rabbit and did a quick action combined with some chor action which I recorded with a black background with the alpha buffer turned on to get a series of tgas use the series as the sprite image this is the results ... bunnyanimated.mov Not really great but at least the animated sprites worked

Here is a render of the near completed version of one of my main characters. As previously mentioned it is based on another model (Proog from "Elephant Dreams") but I think it is different enough to not cause anyone any concerns. Rendered with a 260 light skylight rig (Yves). Took 3:40 in Win 7 64bit on a Core i5 2.27ghz laptop and 11:34 in OSX on a Core 2 Duo 3.06ghz iMac! Thoughts/critiques/comments are most welcome. Cheers

Hi everyone, I'm having an issue with X file export. here's 2 examples the AM one was exported with animation master, the FM one was exported using Frag Motion. I tried both exports in game engines and the one produced by frag motion works and the one from AM doesn't. One thing to note here is that the X file produced by AM was loaded into Frag Motion then immediately exported to a X file which made it work. What I can tell you about this problem: It is DEFINITELY the bone information that is causing this issue for if I uncheck the bone information section OR export to the older DX7 version (which doesn't hold bone information) it works. I have this thing for wanting realistic trees in my scenes. Ya'll can have your toony trees. We use a lot of panels with cookie cutter decals, and tree hair. A recent case we have is going to require us to fly down the road, past some trees so I thought I would make one using the treez plug-in. The problem was the high patch count and when you put hair leaves on it, My system would chug. So..... I make this tree which only has 700 patches, is 50 feet tall (leavea area a little large), and has leaves. I used the AM enhance Foliage material to create the leaves. I am stumped. Take a look at this image and see if you can figure it out. I have a camera moving through a scene but suddenly a few frames in I suddenly get this... I have checked all the lights, all the cameras and cannot see what is causing it. I am using two volumetric klieg lights, one shining directly down and the other through the doorway. Even when I turn the one pointing directly down off, I get the same problem. When it is on and the camera is out of the lights cone I still get the same problem. Is it just an anomaly? Or have I got a bug? Anyone with any ideas about it would be most helpful

I saw the signature from Terry (Maniac) has a dog-tag in it and looks a lot like one I made last year... wanted to show him my animation- HERE! (I always believe the forum should have more 'show-and-tell' to it...) I was getting ready to model the hands on this character. I needed some extra desk space to write a note and I slipped the keyboard in between the monitor and the computer tower. It was a snug fit and some keys got rattled. Suddenly the model was all angles. I am suspecting that this is just a matter of how the screen renders, and that I have not changed the geometry of the model. Anyone out there have a suggestion on restoring it? Thanks...

A frame from the project I am currently revising. Can anyone suggest what might be causing the shadow to show through the wall and what might be causing the lines on the ceiling? Here's a screen capture of the problem. I just can't seem to figure it out. As you can see the right bicep rotator is not orienting like the right bicep rotator target. I'm just wondering if anyone else is having this problem. I've tried it in versions 10.5, 11.0 and 11.1 and I get the same thing. Thanks.

I had modeled a simple tower to test out some tiling textures I made on photoshop. I started playing around with it, duplicating it, scaling it, and sticking them on, and I wound up with a really cool looking castle design. I decided to work it into a poster for my daughter's birthday. (I used to have a sound clip of her saying, "I'm the princess, in the tall, tall tower", hence the title and inspiration). The castle model is only a proxy right now. I'm going to replace it piece by piece with a more detailed model. The lighting and the background are final, for now. The lighting may get tweaked as I go along, and I may repaint the clouds in the BG, I'm not sure. …

Hey guys it's been awhile since I posted, hope everyone had a good new year. I took a break from the dental animations.... and got another dental related project. I think I have been typecast as the 3D dental guy, oh well work is work. ;-) This animation came out pretty good - it was a big project, so I didn't have a lot of time to spend modeling the 2 characters as good as I would have liked - on top of my people modeling and people animation skills are not the best, but with the professional voice-over and music in the background it really takes your attention away from it. Here is my model, thanks to John Henderson for helping with the model (torsoe) and whoever did KeeKat (hands)! I need help with the shape of the eyes (the eyeball needs to fit into the eyesocket! The eyeball is just a circle with a decal on it. Hope this is clear enough! Thanks, Robert Fiermonte

I'm down to the point where the "Opacity Over Life" attribute has to be set. I click on the 'Smoke' emmitter in Materials and the Properties table opens up. But when I try to click on "Opacity Over Life" and open the box to type in a new value, the Properties closes. How do I get around this?
