Was playing around for the shear fun of it and came up with the following holloween classic. The skeleton is our old pal eugene. I used TSM to rig him. The rest I threw together. Shows a wee bit of flame on the candle..good practice of constraints (using the "Door is stuck tut") Enjoy...as always crits are welcome Eugene

well September is nearly over and here is my blog for the month (choose month and select september) http://www.barkerfamily.plus.com/ Its been a pretty tough month as I decided to go and learn Flash as I thought the Flash/A:M combination was something worth exploring. Only today (this morning) have I put together my first movie with these two apps. Its nothing to write home about but as I say the potential is huge. http://www.barkerfamily.plus.com/flash/handshake/index.htm enjoy the blog and the update - feedback as always is very welcome

I could make a tut but its too late tonight here is a $1.98 sample done in v13 [attachmentid=15488] I used a pose to turn a cookie cutter map on by changing it from color at 0% to Cookie cutter at 100% The displacemnt and color map by changing the 100% of image from 0% to 100% Turned on the hair material emitter length from 0% to 100% All this with one on/off pose [attachmentid=15489] Could post a simple on/of color decal tut maybe later if there is interest or if Gene wants too . Hi, I have been playing a little with constraints and 2008 rig lately. Mark is doing invaluable work with his rig. Automatic keyframing in A:M with on-off pose switches makes it much easier. I plan other tests for the other characters. constraints_test2.mov Michel

I've just finished creating the phoneme's for my character and just had to try and figure out how this stuff works, so i Watched the "can you say that" video tut and attempted to make my own, a couple hours later out came this: Clip (890Kb Divx 5.03) Any feedback would be more than welcome I must say how impressed I am with A:M's implementation of the dopesheet etc etc..it was as easy as it appears in the video. However I did wind up with a bunch of keyframes that fall inbetween frames, is that normal? Laters

Take 1 computer game model, scoop out its head, chop off an A:M model's head, stuff it in the helmet, put a pose slider on the visor, and... You can make something like this, too: (why you'd want to, I don't know.)

Hi all Hashers! I've got a love for draconians and want to model one. So I wonder if someone got a site with "easy" ones to begin with. Because I'm to unskilled to model my own draconian sketch (see pic)... Any help is helpful! //Korken

A magazine I read is running a short film contest on Youtube - and so naturally I entered an animation (all the others are live action). Here's the problem. It seems that at least one other contestant is continually giving my animation 1 star to lower its rating. I would really appreciate anyone who could go to Youtube and give me a good star rating (the more the better) to counteract this. Here's the link to my video. Thanks to all.

I have modeled a bicycle card and the main reason I did such a simple model is because I want to study the physics of true animation. So, what you'll see below is an animation of a card fluttering down to the ground (hard to see where the ground is, but the card hits the ground at the end). Critiques would be much appreciated... (Note: Due to angelfire privacy, you must right click on the link, hit properties and copy the full address in the box. Then push ok and paste the address in the address bar) Card Flutter test

What do you guys think?... it's my first model. But I kinda like the way he turned out... I must work on making my models smoother next time. I was actually kinda frustrated with A:M for a while it's veeeery difficult for me to get smooth surfaces... I will try to keep the 5 point surfaces to an absolute minimum. Now I will start adding bones. I'm gonna use the "backbone" tutorial to add the 2001 skeleton. I hope it animates smoothly. Anyway... comments, opinions, questions are most welcome! I was getting ready to model the hands on this character. I needed some extra desk space to write a note and I slipped the keyboard in between the monitor and the computer tower. It was a snug fit and some keys got rattled. Suddenly the model was all angles. I am suspecting that this is just a matter of how the screen renders, and that I have not changed the geometry of the model. Anyone out there have a suggestion on restoring it? Thanks...

Howdy. I took some mocap data I got from a reputable source and put Shaggy on it. And Shaggy said to me, "Zach, man, I love this motion and all, but GEEZ is it COLD in this computer!" So I gave him a shirt. I think it turned out nice--there are some penetration issues at this point toward the end, and it fails completely when Shaggy actually penetrates himself and leaves the cloth with nowhere to go. More experimentation is in order. Next up--PANTS! ShaggiZachTwo.mov

I'm trying my first "real" rig and needless to say all is not well in 3D land. I am using the lite rig and am experimenting with the elbow joint as a starter. I've placed a fan bone, with cp weighting as follows: elbow ring nearest shoulder Bicep 75% forarm 25%, center ring 50/50, third ring 25/75. The elbow still deforms unkindly, and it doesn't seem like the fan bone is doing much of anything (it has a 50/50 orient like constraint to the bicep and forearm) Thoughts? Untitled.mov

Greetings, Looking for some feedback wrt things like hooks nd 5-pt patches. Some people don't seem to use 'em.. Me, I can't seem to spline my way around corners, so to speak. Please have a look and give me an idea if there are too many hooks or 5-pointers; I am going for reduced splineage. Feedback..? Thanks! http://www.nads-sc.uiowa.edu/~sallen/am/mdlHlp2/head2b.jpg

Hi everyone, This is my first attempt at modeling anything like a face. I think I have to many splines, probably all in the wrong place. Things really got away from me when I attached the ears. Can I improve on what I have, or should I start from scratch again. I really learned alot just getting here! JP

I'm setting up my two [at the moment] UAV's for a straffing run. To make them appear very quickly from behind the tank column, I just translated UAV_T1 to its companion, T2, reduced T2 to about 5%, then enlarged it to 100% over a few frames. So far, so good. Now I want to add a muzzle flash to the guns. I got a good, straightforward tutorial on A:M. I propose to translate the muzzle flash to the gun, make a repeating action so the gun just fires constantly, and then use the ON/OFF to make it visible as necessary. But the UAV and the flash have to grow together. Can the bone in the flash be a child of the chin turret bone? On aiming the gun: I'd like to see the g…

Here's the completed logo I started a few months ago. It uses a slightly modified directors chair that was donated and a modified version of Woot from the TWO movie. Thank you Martin for permission to use it. I changed the shape of Woot's head and completely changed the color of the textures so he didn't appear greenish. I know this is the WIP thread but I couldn't find the thread for finished projects. Oh and Robert, I hope the finished shot clears up the drowsy look of the monkey hehe. Here it is. FMP_LOGO.mov

I'm modelling the New Horizons Pluto Spacecraft for an areospace client. Here is my progress so far. Hope to complete it in the next couple of days. The client is asking for as much detail as possible. There are a ton of small appendages I still have to model. Thankfully they are all basic shapes, cubes, cylinders, etc.

Hello, i am working on a complex face Modell, and i need most of the features to be real geometry (Nose, region under nose etc.). Therefore my model is quite complex. Now i have the problem, that the surface tends to have small little bumps (see picture). I need to get rid of these, and have a very smooth surface, like a fotomodell? Is ther any cool and easy way to archive this aside from try and error ... ? Thanks for helping me out on this! Heiner

im working on this little guy...he started as a doodle and i want to keep him as a kind of cartoony guy so i drew the outline then made the mouth and eyes as splines rather than decals so i could move them around. i made them render as lines and black then gave them bones. i made a simple animation where he waves and set it at cartoon render. now its done and i cant see the eyes, and changing his expression is a pain. does anyone have a solution for me? Since I enjoyed the most recent contest, I thought I would try a 'proper' entry, meaning that I have reference material and build an animatic, etc. Really try to go through as much of the established process as I can handle. So, to start out with, my animatic: http://www.prism.gatech.edu/~gtg724n/animatic.zip Please let me know what you think. It's about a minute and a half long, but I do at least have my Typical Male to try and start out with. Since the subject is 'mad,' there's one character I immediately thought of - I just needed to find an appropriate rant time.

It's hot out here at LegoDude's college summer camp, so I made this little fan to keep him cool. Set the movie to loop and you too can stay cool! (Unfortunately for LegoDude, when the conference ends, and he goes on stage to close things down, he's going to be melting in the heat, lose his footing, and get sucked into the fan... sort of a LegoDude meets Mr. Bill ending to a fun debut of LegoDude! ) If anyone wants the project, I'd be happy to share. Need to zip together a package so you'd get the decals (cookie cutter and transparency map). This represents about two hours of work, so things like on/off knob and (d'oh!) electrical cord are left to you to do! …

Against The Author, The Beginning of the End Update Hello everyone. I know, I haven't posted in ages, probably most of you have forgotten this production even existed, but yes, we are moving along happily and are well on schedule to having ATA released Winter 2006. ATA, for all who don't know, is a movie that's premise revolves around three teenagers who accidently get superpowers and have to destroy and army of 10,000 killing machines on a deserted island led by a demonic dictator and her sidekick. I know, a little farfetched, just wait till you see it before you knock it, So, yes, I recently viewed the forums in order to update myself to 13b, (which I love t…
