Naboo

Someone emailed me who had heard I did Star Wars models for A:M, and wanted me to make a Naboo for their fanfilm. I'd done planets before so I agreed. Tell me what you think before I send it to him. By the way, it's a sphere with a green planet map on it with a high blue ambiance, inside a sphere using a transparency map that is the color white.

Hi everybody: This was in the WIP section a while back, and it's finally finished. Because of the fact that many of you helped me with your suggestions, I thought I'd post it and let you see the finished piece. The only thing left to do, to finish it completely is to fill the signs, that are sticking up out of the ground, with numbers (this is because it is for a math student textbook). Thank all for the help!!

Hello everyone, As you all should know this weekend is Mother's Day. I won't be with my mom on Mother's day morning, so I decided to make her breakfast in bed anyway using A:M! BTW, does anyone know how to make a solid looking klieg? I still have to texture and add a lot more but heres what I have so far:

I am stumped. Take a look at this image and see if you can figure it out. I have a camera moving through a scene but suddenly a few frames in I suddenly get this... I have checked all the lights, all the cameras and cannot see what is causing it. I am using two volumetric klieg lights, one shining directly down and the other through the doorway. Even when I turn the one pointing directly down off, I get the same problem. When it is on and the camera is out of the lights cone I still get the same problem. Is it just an anomaly? Or have I got a bug? Anyone with any ideas about it would be most helpful

Well I wipped up a quick model today in preparation for the December Image contest (shame I can't rig or shade the model as quickly as I can model them ) Take a look and let me know what you think. I'd really love some advice on how to achieve that typical comic book shine and reflectance for the outfit without going toon. Some ideas about heroine fashion wouldn't go astray either (I'm not a comic book reader) http://higginsdj.250free.com/wips.htm Cheers

Recently i have gotten the oppurtunity to do some more work for NASA ( no pay but it will look good on my resume). At the NASA Glenn research center several groups are working on designs for the modules to go back to the moon, one of the groups needs some modeling and animation done, and asked if i was up for it. Of course i accepted. Below is what i have done so far. I am going to have to make a few bump maps and diffuse maps for the lander, but it is pretty much done. Comments welcome, Ben. PS the legs are fully articulate, so are the radiator panels (the random black panels).

Here's the link to the newest Ernie cartoon: The good news is that this was created in record time. I wrote it last night, captured this morning, exported and rendered this afternoon, and tonight it is posted. This is partly due to the direct A:M action export Luuk has added to Zign Track, and partly because I'm getting the hang of it. The bad news is his antennae still do not bounce. At Matt's suggestion I did not solve the spring system but let it solve as it went, but I forgot to change the threshold to zero. Result, wooden antenna syndrome. Next time, I promise.

The attached QT file is a really rough walk cycle and is not shown to demonstrate how not to do it, even though you could probably use it for that purpose, but to demonstrate some strangeness to do with dynamic bones and particles in A:M 11.1g. This model has small dynamic chains in the shirt tails that hang below Woot's belt and collision detection is turned on. The first two paces are rendered with particles turned OFF so no hair is generated. The next two paces are rendered with particles turned ON and look what happens to the dynamic chains.

Hi all, I completly redid the Focke Wulf, I had found someplace and that I have used for my "propeller spin thread" . I also gave it a less martial more "Howard Hughian" look. Also added some poses for easy handling. You can roll , turn, tilt and steer the rudder, also retract the wheels and open the canopy. (see movie) Please feel free to take and use this model at your will. Maybe show us some testflights? Next I plan to implement John`s propeller speed technic as soon as I get a grasp of it. (Thats the propeller speed pose has to be filled up for, still nofunction) speed1.prj FockeWulfTest.mov

During the creation of this beast, I did something that I do with other 3d programs.....I split the thing into separate projects, so each body part ( mostly) has a separate project file. Its just easier for me to work this way. However, I have come to the point where I want to start bringing these parts into the same project file, but I cannot seem to find a way to save the model out as a .mdl file from within the project----although there seems to be an option to import them from the File menu. So, if someone could give me the Saving and Importing .mdl files for Dummies version, I will post a picture of my dragon as he exists so far. I am sure its some…

Hello, We have been busy and I didn't want to post too many WIPs, but I have a few more for you. These clips are just tests to see how the models hold up for animation/rendering. Of course we are rendering everything in HD720, but a few things have to be rendered smaller for testing- (especially those containing multiple volumetric lights). Comments are welcome. Keep in mind that the purpose of these clips are to show the models in lighting. There is one lipsync in there that is incomplete, because I didn't really want to go into simulating the cloth(It's all about the face/the arms are STIFF). Thankyou! Click on the pic! Anyway, how it turned into a boxing Meerkat, I'm not sure, but it did. He is the 3rd character over from the left on the bottom row. Thanks - Eric www.3dcharacteranimation.biz

This is a bit from the revised fight scene for Duck Sauce; my awesome team has been helping me make a new version to send to film festivals. I've been posting stuff to the team occasionally, but I liked the way this one turned out enough to show it to the list. The context is that the rubber chicken and the rubber duck are fighting, as the rubber pigeon saves the pink flamingo from certain death. (And what a context that is!) http://www.hash.com/users/zachbg/blog/lowe...ndFight_mp4.mov You can see the original version of the whole film on A:MFilms. Comments welcome!

Hello - I know there is a "particle system /hair" that can simulate curls however for a variety of reasons I am attempting to create curly hair using a different method. If you look at the attached image you will see a "simple straight object" and then you will see a "twisted version" of that straight object. If I was just going to create hair using the straight model, I could easily assign a color to the object and then use a transparency map to simulate strands. I can't really apply a transparency map to the twisted version so I figure I will need to assign a Material to the twisted object. The only problem is my skills are weak at creating a materi…

What do you guys think?... it's my first model. But I kinda like the way he turned out... I must work on making my models smoother next time. I was actually kinda frustrated with A:M for a while it's veeeery difficult for me to get smooth surfaces... I will try to keep the 5 point surfaces to an absolute minimum. Now I will start adding bones. I'm gonna use the "backbone" tutorial to add the 2001 skeleton. I hope it animates smoothly. Anyway... comments, opinions, questions are most welcome! Hi folks, here is a quick render of the cow model available for download... hosted by Ken Heslip. The post is in the main AM forum. The cow is constrained and ready to go with a walk cycle and a set up in a choreography. I used the set up machine 1 to rig it and added intermediates and fans and smartskin etc. Im not the best rigger around but if any of you Rig masters has the time to improve on it or re-rig it, I would love to see the results if you re-post the improved and updated model for folks to download again. Against The Author, The Beginning of the End Update Hello everyone. I know, I haven't posted in ages, probably most of you have forgotten this production even existed, but yes, we are moving along happily and are well on schedule to having ATA released Winter 2006. ATA, for all who don't know, is a movie that's premise revolves around three teenagers who accidently get superpowers and have to destroy and army of 10,000 killing machines on a deserted island led by a demonic dictator and her sidekick. I know, a little farfetched, just wait till you see it before you knock it, So, yes, I recently viewed the forums in order to update myself to 13b, (which I love t…

Meet Jedi Dex. He is the second character in my Star Wars Fan Film. The first character is the AT-AT. I recreated the body from a Jedi model that was originally downloaded from Sci-Fi 3D, then converted to an Anim8or file. The face and head come from the Dex A:M model. There are still a lot of things that need to be done to Jedi Dex, like fixing a lot of bumps, creases and proportions, texturing and rigging him. The colors you currently see were used to differentiate a lot of the different groups in the model. I did play around with texturing his vest though. C&C always welcome...
