Howdy. I took some mocap data I got from a reputable source and put Shaggy on it. And Shaggy said to me, "Zach, man, I love this motion and all, but GEEZ is it COLD in this computer!" So I gave him a shirt. I think it turned out nice--there are some penetration issues at this point toward the end, and it fails completely when Shaggy actually penetrates himself and leaves the cloth with nowhere to go. More experimentation is in order. Next up--PANTS! ShaggiZachTwo.mov

I'm modelling the New Horizons Pluto Spacecraft for an areospace client. Here is my progress so far. Hope to complete it in the next couple of days. The client is asking for as much detail as possible. There are a ton of small appendages I still have to model. Thankfully they are all basic shapes, cubes, cylinders, etc.

What do you guys think?... it's my first model. But I kinda like the way he turned out... I must work on making my models smoother next time. I was actually kinda frustrated with A:M for a while it's veeeery difficult for me to get smooth surfaces... I will try to keep the 5 point surfaces to an absolute minimum. Now I will start adding bones. I'm gonna use the "backbone" tutorial to add the 2001 skeleton. I hope it animates smoothly. Anyway... comments, opinions, questions are most welcome! It's rare for one of my modeling brainwaves to work right out of the gate with no rethinks and no tweaks. But lightning does strike occasionally. The image shows the first test renders of a bump decal to simulate the look of a welded joint either butt or fillet. As is usual for me the decal started out as a spline model with a black to white gradient material applied. If anyone's interested I can make the model and material available.

OK I know that this has been done, oh, about a billion and a half times but it's still a good way to experiment with timing and gravity. Clicker It's still got some tweeking to do but not a bad start. Thoughts?

Since it is the season... I did this quick and dirty to replace a Festival Of Trees (FOT) graphic that turns out not to be as original as it was shopped to them. My mom wants a video for the big FOT get together with all of the other FOT folks around the country. Still need titles and may shorten, length it. But in the meantime, my new NLE is in and now better supports WMV-HD output and SmartSound. So, Merry Christmas 9MB WMV-HD Christmas Tree

A magazine I read is running a short film contest on Youtube - and so naturally I entered an animation (all the others are live action). Here's the problem. It seems that at least one other contestant is continually giving my animation 1 star to lower its rating. I would really appreciate anyone who could go to Youtube and give me a good star rating (the more the better) to counteract this. Here's the link to my video. Thanks to all.

This is all a work in progress, but I figured I throw something up for feedback. I modeled the star freighter first and then the engine room as a separate model to be merged inside. I'm trying to block in my shots at this point... so no detail on the models either. Here is the star freighter itself... and the engine room with two characters for scale. This is a portion of the outside shell with the engine room model merged into it (to save patches). More to come as I get it cranked out...

I have a digital camera and took a few pictures of the office where I work and tried to add the free t-rex to a couple of pictures. This was the dino rendered in Am on black background ,cut in out then added to a layer in PS. In PS I copied just the desk to another layer then put that in front of the dino layer . Added a shadow layer effect and tried to do a reflective layer of the dino on the desk area. Is there any suggestions on how to do this better This seemed to work okay

I'm trying my first "real" rig and needless to say all is not well in 3D land. I am using the lite rig and am experimenting with the elbow joint as a starter. I've placed a fan bone, with cp weighting as follows: elbow ring nearest shoulder Bicep 75% forarm 25%, center ring 50/50, third ring 25/75. The elbow still deforms unkindly, and it doesn't seem like the fan bone is doing much of anything (it has a 50/50 orient like constraint to the bicep and forearm) Thoughts? Untitled.mov

Here's the completed logo I started a few months ago. It uses a slightly modified directors chair that was donated and a modified version of Woot from the TWO movie. Thank you Martin for permission to use it. I changed the shape of Woot's head and completely changed the color of the textures so he didn't appear greenish. I know this is the WIP thread but I couldn't find the thread for finished projects. Oh and Robert, I hope the finished shot clears up the drowsy look of the monkey hehe. Here it is. FMP_LOGO.mov

Thats the question i ask myself, because i want to do something using liquids, and i hope that i dont have to go along the old try'n'error road. Cheers Heiner There u go: What parameter will i have to crank if i want to have a contious flow of liquid and not only droplets? Or has that something to do with the general size used in the scene?

I'm about to create the remaining diffuse and bump amp for this face and stich his front and back of his head together sometime tonight or tomorrow.

Hello, i am working on a complex face Modell, and i need most of the features to be real geometry (Nose, region under nose etc.). Therefore my model is quite complex. Now i have the problem, that the surface tends to have small little bumps (see picture). I need to get rid of these, and have a very smooth surface, like a fotomodell? Is ther any cool and easy way to archive this aside from try and error ... ? Thanks for helping me out on this! Heiner

Hi, I have been playing a little with constraints and 2008 rig lately. Mark is doing invaluable work with his rig. Automatic keyframing in A:M with on-off pose switches makes it much easier. I plan other tests for the other characters. constraints_test2.mov Michel

Hey all. I finished this T-shirt design for the Genre Evolution Project's research team. The colors and all are much higher definition than we'll need, I'm sure, but this render is a real beaut and will serve as a guide. I was so satisfied with what A:M did in the process that I wanted to post it here. Post-work done in Photoshop and Fireworks. GENRE! 2003-2004 Team Thanks for looking. (If you are interested in the project, the site is: here. I won't plug it here, but suffice to say, we study the humanities by researching pulp science fiction.)

im working on this little guy...he started as a doodle and i want to keep him as a kind of cartoony guy so i drew the outline then made the mouth and eyes as splines rather than decals so i could move them around. i made them render as lines and black then gave them bones. i made a simple animation where he waves and set it at cartoon render. now its done and i cant see the eyes, and changing his expression is a pain. does anyone have a solution for me? Since I enjoyed the most recent contest, I thought I would try a 'proper' entry, meaning that I have reference material and build an animatic, etc. Really try to go through as much of the established process as I can handle. So, to start out with, my animatic: http://www.prism.gatech.edu/~gtg724n/animatic.zip Please let me know what you think. It's about a minute and a half long, but I do at least have my Typical Male to try and start out with. Since the subject is 'mad,' there's one character I immediately thought of - I just needed to find an appropriate rant time.

Hello- Does anyone know how to create a kaleidsocope image, through rendering (or otherwise) ? Something similar to the attached jpg? I was hoping there was some sort of AM render effect that might work, or something that would at least create part of a kaleidoscope section....... that could then be x flipped. I was looking at my After Effects filters and they have something which says it creates kaleidoscopes but is more a "Tiling" sort of thing that looks cheesy anyway. Thanks for any suggestions! Tom

I've just finished creating the phoneme's for my character and just had to try and figure out how this stuff works, so i Watched the "can you say that" video tut and attempted to make my own, a couple hours later out came this: Clip (890Kb Divx 5.03) Any feedback would be more than welcome I must say how impressed I am with A:M's implementation of the dopesheet etc etc..it was as easy as it appears in the video. However I did wind up with a bunch of keyframes that fall inbetween frames, is that normal? Laters

Greetings, Looking for some feedback wrt things like hooks nd 5-pt patches. Some people don't seem to use 'em.. Me, I can't seem to spline my way around corners, so to speak. Please have a look and give me an idea if there are too many hooks or 5-pointers; I am going for reduced splineage. Feedback..? Thanks! http://www.nads-sc.uiowa.edu/~sallen/am/mdlHlp2/head2b.jpg

Against The Author, The Beginning of the End Update Hello everyone. I know, I haven't posted in ages, probably most of you have forgotten this production even existed, but yes, we are moving along happily and are well on schedule to having ATA released Winter 2006. ATA, for all who don't know, is a movie that's premise revolves around three teenagers who accidently get superpowers and have to destroy and army of 10,000 killing machines on a deserted island led by a demonic dictator and her sidekick. I know, a little farfetched, just wait till you see it before you knock it, So, yes, I recently viewed the forums in order to update myself to 13b, (which I love t…
